Stella Romero Barrientez
Stella Romero Barrientez, 78, of Amarillo and formerly of Lubbock, died Monday in an Amarillo nursing home. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in the Trinity Church Chapel. Burial will follow in City of Lubbock cemetery. Her family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. Friday at Rix Funeral Directors.
Stella was a member of Trinity Church and had lived in Lubbock most of her life. She was a seamstress and alteration professional for many years.
She is survived by two daughters, Gloria Nava of Amarillo and Teresa Bravo of Nashville, Tenn.; two sons, Sammy Romero, and Joe Romero of Lubbock; five sisters, Mary Castillo, Loyce Menesis, Eva Venegas, Nester Torres and Jessie Ortega, all of Sweetwater; nine grandchildren, eight great-granddaughters, one great-grandson, and a great great-grandson.
Virginia McDonald
Graveside services for Virginia McDonald, 82, of Idalou will be held on Friday, April 4, 2008, at 2 p.m., at the City of Lubbock cemetery, with David Peebles officiating. The family will receive friends at Sanders Funeral Home on Thursday from 6-8 p.m.
Mrs. McDonald passed away on Wednesday, April 2, 2008 in Lubbock. She was born June 1, 1925, to Bessie and O. C. Horne, in County Line, Texas. She married
C. A. "Bo" McDonald on May 30, 1942. She was a homemaker and member of Sunrise Church of Christ.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Bo on Feb. 9, 2008; her parents, Bessie and O. C. Horne; and a brother, Leland Horne.
She is survived by a daughter, Tana Beasley of Stuttgart, Ark.; a brother, Carl Horne of Lubbock; five sisters, Judy Johnson, Ellen Storrs, both of Lubbock, Laura Emery of Idalou, Mildred Groover of Searcy, Ark., and Frances Bonner of Whitney; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers-in-law, Walt McDonald and his wife Carol and Clyde Paschall; and a host of nieces and nephews.
W. Lowell Hill
W. Lowell Hill, 74, of Amarillo died March 31, 2008. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, April 4, 2008, at Church of Christ at the Colonies, with Dick Marcear, minister, officiating. Graveside services will be conducted by Canyon City Masonic Lodge #730 at Dreamland cemetery. Arrangements are by Brooks Funeral Directors
W. Lowell Hill was born on Oct. 7, 1933, in Ralph Switch, to Wilbur and Florence Adcock Hill. In 1952, he graduated from Canyon High School. He also graduated from West Texas State College in 1956, and then attended Texas Tech University. He married
Reva O. Clay on April 30, 1960 at the J. A. Hill Chapel. Lowell served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Canyon City Masonic Lodge #730. In 1959, he began working for J. I. Case Implement Company. He was awarded Manager of the Year in 1984. After retiring from J. I. Case Implement Company, he continued to be very active in farming and ranching. He was a Charter member of the Church of Christ at the Colonies. He was quoted in the "Eagles Tale" column in high school that his ambition in life was to be a grandpa. He was "the best grandpa." He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Reva Hill of the home; son, Tom Hill and wife Lisa of Amarillo; two daughters, Julia Stewart and husband Greg of Niwot, Colo. and Janet Mercer and husband Jeff of Lubbock; two sisters, Jean Cavitt and husband Garland of Amarillo and Mary Ruth Dowell Fansler of Dumas; eight grandchildren, Danita Wallick and husband Dan, Lorna Bogan and husband Rory, Jarod Stewart, Meagan, Caitlyn, and Ryan Mercer, and Shelby and Sara Hill.
He was also loved by his nieces, nephews, special friends, and in-laws.
The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity.
Dr. Marian McDonald Perry Crawford
Dr. Marian McDonald Perry Crawford passed away Monday March 31, 2008 following a brief illness. Her passing was peaceful with her family at her side. Marian was the daughter of Ross and Gladys McDonald and she was born in Lamesa, Texas in 1938. She was 69. Her parents and family helped pioneer the ginning industry in Dawson County. She graduated from Lamesa High School in 1956 and attended North Texas State College (now U. of N. Texas) and obtained a B.A. in Music in 1960. At North Texas, she was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi, the Sigma Alpha Iota and the Kappa Delta Pi sororities. She went on to attend Florida State University, where she attained a M.A. in English in 1962. In 1962 she married
William (Bill) Perry of Houston and traveled to North Africa, where Bill served with the Airforce and later was employed in the petroleum business. During this time period she served as a teacher, and she bore her two sons, Ross and Lee Perry. The family returned to the states in ca. 1970 and Marian continued serving as a teacher. Marian and Bill ended their marriage amicably in 1977. Beginning in 1980, Marian attended the University of Houston, where she obtained her Ed.D. in 1985 after researching the effects of instructional writing programs. After this, she worked with the State of Texas Region IV Educational Services where she was a teacher of teachers and designed student curricula. During the rest of her career, she made many contributions as an educator. She was an adjunct professor and taught classes for students at the University of Houston and the Texas Tech University. For two years, she was an assistant professor at the Steven F. Austin University in Nacogdoches. Also, she was an active member of National Council of Teachers of English, and the International Reading Association. In her semi-retirement, she taught courses at the Wayland Baptist University in West Texas. In the 1990s, Marian re-connected with her high-school friend, Dr. Felix Crawford. They married
in 1993 and his children, Christy and Boyd, became part of her family. Felix passed away in January of 2007. Marian's life was filled with literature and music, which she generously shared with countless students and her family. Her personality was effusively positive, contagious and we will deeply miss her. She is survived by her son Ross, son Lee and his wife Beth, stepdaughter Christy and her husband Eric Grey, and stepson Boyd and wife April. In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions be sent to the Dr. Marian Perry Crawford Scholarship Fund at the University of Houston, 400 East Cullen Bldg., Houston, TX, 77204-2013.
Funeral services are scheduled at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 3, 2008 at the First Christian Church in Plainview, Texas with Interim pastor Dr. Max Browning officiating. Graveside funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday at Lamesa Memorial Park with Rev. Don Stripling, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in Lamesa officiating. All arrangements are under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors in Plainview, Texas.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Kornerstone Funeral Directors.
Domingo Sanchez, Jr.
Domingo Sanchez, Jr. 51 of Lubbock died Monday; Funeral services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. in Iglesia Bautista Templo. Burial will follow in the City of Lubbock cemetery, under the direction of Rix Funeral Directors.
Domingo was born Oct. 15, 1956 in Weslaco, Texas to Domino Sanchez, Sr. and Guadalupe Hinojosa. He married
Anna Lemus in Hereford Aug. 1, 1974. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps and had worked for Morrison Supply Co. for nearly twenty years.
He is survived by his wife Anna; a daughter Annette Sanchez, and Gene Reyes, of Elsa Texas; two sons, Daniel Lee Sanchez and Andrew Sanchez and Vivian Vasquez of Lubbock; his father Domingo Sanchez Sr. of Elsa, Texas and four grandchildren.
Freddy E. Carter
Funeral services for Freddy E. Carter, age 65, of Brownwood, will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, April 3, 2008, at Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Greenleaf cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 p.m.
Mr. Carter died Sunday, March 30, 2008 at his home.
Freddy was born at home on April 25, 1942 in Sundown (Hockley County), Texas to Fred and Edith (Richards) Carter. He grew up on the South Plains and attended school in Maple, Sundown, and Levelland.
Freddy married
Doris Jean Swain on Aug. 25, 1961 in Levelland. They moved to Lovington, New Mexico where Freddy had a successful farming and ranching operation. He formed a joint cattle raising venture with Sue Stevens, a business women from Yoakum County, in the mid-1970's.
Freddy is survived by his wife Doris Jean Carter of Brownwood; two daughters, Darenda Golden of Austin and Cindy Walker and husband Richard of Brownwood; four grandchildren, Jared and Tristin Walker of Brownwood and Sarah and Devon Golden of Austin; two sisters, Letha Wheeler of Muleshoe and Reita Wheeler of Lovington, New Mexico.
Johnny Lee Wright
Services for Johnny Lee Wright, 66, of Anton will be held on Thursday, April 3, 2008 at 2 p.m. at South Plains Church in Levelland. Burial will be follow at Anton cemetery. A visitation will be held Wednesday, April 2, 2008 from 5:30-7 p.m. at Franklin-Bartley Funeral Home.
Mr. Wright passed away March 31, 2008 in Lubbock.
Johnny was born on April 8, 1941 in Weatherford to Charlie and Jimmie Wright. He married
Joyce Moore of Elida, NM on Oct. 13, 1973. He was a paint contractor who enjoyed wood working and wood carving as a hobby. He was a member of South Plains Church in Levelland.
He is preceded in death by both of his parents.
Johnny is survived by his wife, Joyce of Anton; his aunt Bobbie Smith of Anton; three children, Melissa Lemons of Anton, Cindy Brassfield of Panhandle and Scotty Wright of Gruver; and six granddaughters.
He was a devoted husband and father who was adored by his children. He was also the best Paw Paw to all his granddaughters. He was a fun loving and respected man who will forever be missed.

Marie Snodgrass
Marie Snodgrass, 89, of Morton, passed away April 1, 2008. Graveside services will take place on Thursday April 3, at 3 p.m. in Resthaven Memorial Park followed by a Memorial Service at 4 p.m. in the Abbey Chapel at Resthaven. Visitation will be held on Wed. April 2 from 6 ? 8 p.m. at Resthaven Funeral Home.
Marie was born Jan. 23, 1919, in Fillmore, Okla. to parents Cretie and Joe Cheek. She grew up in Yoakum County, Texas and graduated from Harris School. On Dec. 12, 1936, she was married
to Arvel "Toad" Snodgrass. They settled in Tokio, where they farmed and started a family. In 1948, they moved to Lehman, where they continued farming.
Marie was a member of the Eastern Star and had been a Tupperware Representative for 20 years. She enjoyed ceramics and visiting with friends and family.
Survivors include daughter, Zona Roulain of Lehman; son WB and wife, Lana Snodgrass of Lubbock; daughter Zada and husband, Daniel Cave of Ackerly; sister Rita Mae Snodgrass of Lubbock; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Robert Cheek; a sister, Louise Goehry; a grandson, Sterling Roulain; a daughter, Muriel Zo Wilson, who died in 1999; and by her husband, Toad, who died in 1990.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
Willie L. McElroy Doyle
Willie L. McElroy Doyle, 85, of Shallowater passed away Monday, March 31, 2008. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, April 3, 2008 at First Baptist Church in Shallowater with a graveside service to follow at Fort Sumner cemetery in New Mexico at 3 p.m. Visitation will be tonight from 6-8 p.m. at Resthaven Funeral Home.
Willie Lee was born in Kirkland, Texas and at a young age moved to New Mexico with her family. She married
Floyd C. Doyle, Sr. Together, they raised their family east of Fort Sumner at LaLande on the family ranch. In addition to helping around the ranch, she also had a career in nursing that spanned nearly a quarter century. After 56 years of cattle ranching, they retired to Shallowater. She was a Baptist and also did volunteer work. Her many hobbies included baking and quilting.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Lura Howell and husband Ray of Lubbock; two sons, Floyd Doyle, Jr. and wife Sharon of Shallowater, Ron Doyle and wife Lila of Roswell, NM; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great, great-granddaughter. She is also survived by two sisters, Merle Dunlap and Esther Womack; two sisters-in-law and a host of nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death was her husband, parents, three brothers and one sister.

Mary M. Adair
Mary M. Adair was born May 26, 1917 to Hattie and Christopher Howard. She married
Rev. Marcus Adair on July 29, 1939.
Mary is survived by her husband, Rev. Marcus Adair of the home; one son, Duane and his wife Carrie of Edmond, Okla.; three daughters, Velora Cummings and husband Glenn of Dalhart, Ann Hayes and husband Marvin of Edmond, Okla., and Linda Peck of Edmond, Okla.; one sister, Marjorie McCune; and many nieces, nephews and numerous friends. Eight grandchildren, Ginger Cox, Jill Ryan, Kori Grouse, Shelby Cummings, Coby Cummings, Tosh Hays, Ty Peck and Benji Peck and great-grandchildren, Addie and Emma Ryan, London and Max Bugarelli, Ellen Cox, Landon and Levi Peck, and Tillie Grouse also survive.
Preceding her in death are her parents; brothers, Irvin, Fred, Glen, Robert, and Orville; and great-grandchildren, Elisabeth Grouse and Abigail Grouse. Mary was a wonderful minister's wife and traveled extensively and worked beside her husband in the ministry for 70 years.
A funeral service was held on Monday, March 31, 2008 at 2:30 p.m. at Cathedral of the Hills, 1600 E. 15th, Edmond, Okla. An interment will follow at Memorial Park cemetery in Oklahoma City, Okla. Services are under the direction of Matthews Funeral Home, 601 S. Kelly Ave., Edmond, Okla.
