Roy Junior Kimbrell
Roy Junior Kimbrell of Shallowater departed this life on April 5, 2008 at the age of 77 years. He was born Nov. 13, 1930, in Clovis, N.M., to Luther Roy and Hattie Mae (Young) Kimbrell. Roy married
his wife Frances Wood on April 6, 1954 in Abilene. Mr. Kimbrell was a veteran of the US Army serving in Korea. Roy was a member 12th Street Church of Christ of Shallowater.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Frances; six daughters, Helen Kimbrell of Shallowater, Angie Wright of Mineral Wells, Becky Hudman of Merkel, Julie Marcotte of Hawaii, Debra Harris of San Angelo, and Elora Jan of Haltom; one son, Dustin Roy Kimbrell of Shallowater; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and two brothers, Jerry Kimbrell of Shallowater and Bobbie Kimbrell of Colorado Springs, Colo.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Luther Roy and Hattie Mae Kimbrell.
Formal visitation will be held from 5 -7 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2008, at White Funeral Home in Idalou. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2008, at Idalou cemetery, with Don Wood officiating.
Arrangements are under the personal care of White Funeral Home in Idalou.
Ruby Manning Dunn
Ruby Eloise was born to John Bruce and Susie (Rhodes) Foster on June 16, 1916, in Bangs. She passed from this life April 5, 2008.
Ruby, with her family, moved to the Lubbock area from East Texas in 1926. Ruby married
Homer Andrew Manning Feb. 3, 1934, in Lubbock. Homer and Ruby were honored to be in House #2 on the Ropesville Resettlement Project January 1936 until May 1947. Homer passed away Sept. 30, 1950 in Lubbock. Ruby later married
Ollie Payton Dunn on Dec. 11, 1969. He passed away April 20, 2005 in Lubbock.
She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Kent Lane Campbell, six sisters, four brothers, and five step-sisters.
Mrs. Dunn is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Toni and Bob Chambers of Lubbock, Freida and Don Campbell of Wolfforth and one step daughter and her husband, Glenda and James Russell of Premont. She is also survived by five grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, two step grandchildren and two step great grandchildren; one brother, Herbert C. Miller of Lubbock; and one sister, Lily Fern McGlathery of Leuders.
She retired from the Lubbock Independent School District. She was an avid mall walker and she loved making greeting cards and flowers to share with others.
Mrs. Dunn was a former member of the Monterey Church of Christ and was a current member of the Southside Church of Christ. She was baptized into Christ in 1938 at Ropesville.
Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2007, at The Abbey Chapel at Resthaven Funeral Home. Danny Williams, will officiate.

Othello Vane O.V. Sturgeon
Othello Vane "O.V." Sturgeon, 90, of Lubbock went to be with his Lord and Savior on April 11, 2008. Celebration of Life services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, April 14, 2008, in the Ford Chapel at First Baptist Church, under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home. Private graveside services with military honors will be at Resthaven Memorial Park.
O.V. Sturgeon, beloved husband, father and grandfather was born on Feb. 23, 1918, in Hermleigh, to Adolphus and Dora (McFarland) Sturgeon. He graduated Lubbock High in 1937 and attended Texas Tech. In September of 1940, he joined the Army Air Corps and served during WWII as a mechanic and co-pilot on the B-17 bomber. During his service, he met Colleen Long, the love of his life and they were married
in October of 1945. After being honorably discharged he began his farming career with his wife that spanned 60 years.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing, summers in Ruidoso but most of all, he enjoyed his family and grandchildren. He was also a member of the Baptist Church.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 62 years, Colleen Sturgeon; sons, O.V. Sturgeon, Jr. of Lubbock, Don Sturgeon and his wife Mitzi of Wolfforth, daughter D'Ann Davis and her husband Brian of Abilene; and grandchildren, Chad Sturgeon of Naples, Italy, Jason Sturgeon and his wife Ashley of Wolfforth, Grant, Natalie, and Lisa Davis, all of Abilene.
He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and is preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and a daughter-in-law.

Leona Bernice (McCormick) Henly
Graveside services for Leona Bernice (McCormick) Henly, 51, of Lubbock will be at 2 p.m. Monday, April 14, 2008, at the City of Lubbock cemetery, with Van McCormick officiating.
She passed away on April 11, 2008.
Leona was born Nov. 12, 1956, in Odessa, to Marcus and Nadra McCormick. She graduated from Seagraves High School in 1974 and received her Registered Nurse Degree from Southwest Community College in Summitt, Mississippi in 1991. In 1992, she moved to Lubbock and was employed as an RN at St. Mary's Hospital and later for Hospice of Lubbock. She married
John W. Henly on Oct. 12, 1997. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband; her mother, Nadra (McCormick) Robison and her husband, Bill Robison of Glendale, Ariz.; grandmother, Tennie McCormick of Muleshoe; brother, Mark McCormick and his wife Dee Dawn of Dalhart; brother, Stephen McCormick and his wife Monica of Seagraves; brother, Michael McCormick of Brownfield; and nieces and nephews, Cori Ann (McCormick) Matsakis and her husband Louie, Casey Wade McCormick, Allison Lynn McCormick, John Marcus McCormick and Mitchell Christopher McCormick.
She was preceded in death by her father and a nephew, Stephen Dean McCormick, Jr.
Memorials are suggested to a favorite charity.
Guadalupe Salas
Rosary for Guadalupe Nicodemas "Lupe" Salas, 77, of Ralls will be at 7 p.m. Sunday and Monday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Ralls. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2008, at the same church. Burial will follow in Ralls cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls.
Lupe passed away Saturday, April 12, 2008, at Covenant Specialty Hospital, in Lubbock.
She was born Sept. 15, 1930, in Rosebud, to Daniel B. and Maria (Padilla) Reyes. On Feb. 17, 1956, she married
Fidencio L. Salas in Ralls.
She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and a homemaker.
Survivors include: her husband, Fidencio of Ralls; a son and his wife, Rey and Karen Salas of Lubbock; a brother and his wife, Jesse and Angie Reyes of Ralls; and a sister and her husband, Irene and Mike Cruz of Tulia.
Della Lopez
Services for Della Lopez, 77, of Lubbock, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 14, in Resthaven's Abbey Chapel. A prayer service will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.
Della passed away on Thursday, April 10, 2008.
She was born April 30, 1930, in New Mexico, to Adolph and Regina Lopez and moved to Lubbock at an early age. She attended St. John Neumann Church Catholic Church.
Survivors include two sons, J. R. Garcia of Virginia Beach, Va. and Gilbert Garcia of Idalou; one daughter, Rose Chavez of Lubbock; three brothers, Bonnie, Joe, and Sam Lopez, all of New Mexico; four sisters, Sally Martinez, Rita Baca, Lucy Gonzalez, and Loraine Pacheco, all of New Mexico; nine grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild.
Willie Gene Green
Services for Willie Gene Green, 80, of Olton, will be 2 p.m. Sunday, April 6, 2008 at the First United Methodist Church, in Olton. Mike Reed, Larry Holder, and Trey Shirley (grandson) will officiate. Burial will follow in the Olton cemetery under the direction of Ramage Funeral Directors.
Willie Gene was born May 19, 1927 in Delwin, Texas, to Lee Harrington Green and Lillian Belle Carlisle. He moved to Olton in 1934. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII on the minesweeper ship, U.S.S. Pledge. He married
Jean Wilcox, April 30, 1951 in Kress. He was a longtime farmer and Lamb County Commissioner for 12 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Lions Club, and the Nifty Fifties Car Club. He was a former Olton Man of the Year, and Citizen Through the Years. He served on numerous boards including the Olton Grain Co-Op Board, the Olton Co-Op Gin Board, the Production Credit Association Board, the Love in Action Board, and was presently serving on the Runningwater Draw Care Center Board. Willie was also an advocate and strong supporter of Girl's Town, U.S.A.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Green, of Olton; a son, Nick and wife, Rhonda, of Olton; a daughter, Tammy Green Shirley and husband, John, of Snyder; one brother, Marion Green, of Lake Texhoma; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Willie was preceded in death by a brother, Dan Colbert Green in 1925.
The family suggests memorials sent to the American Cancer Society, 3411 73rd St., Lubbock, TX 79423.
Thomas Michael Perry
Thomas Michael Perry, 56, an ordained minister, went home to be with his Lord.
Memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Broadway Baptist Church, Dr. Jorene Swift officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the American Heart Association, 2630 West Freeway, Suite 250, Fort Worth, Texas 76102; or Broadway Baptist Church, 305 W. Broadway Ave., Fort Worth, Texas 76104.
Mike was born Jan. 2, 1952, in San Diego, Calif., son of the late Christine and Tom Perry. A graduate of Monterey High School in Lubbock, he earned a Bachelor of Arts from Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene and a Master of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Mike served as Chaplain in the state hospital system, Baptist St. Anthony Health Care Center, Presbyterian Hospital System, the state prison system and in local hospice groups. He met Beth Beasley while attending seminary and they married
in 1978. They raised their family for four years in Big Spring and 13 years in Amarillo before returning to the Fort Worth area in 1999.
As a minister, Rev. Mike was quite human and very approachable. He loved to make people laugh. He was just as likely to use his gift of listening in his professional capacity as a hospital Chaplain as he was to stop and listen to his family, friends or even with someone he had just met. Survivors include his daughters, Michaella Lynn Perry and Sarah Beth Perry; and their mother, Beth Perry, his wife for 29 years.
He will be greatly missed.
