Grettle Leigh Sebastian
Grettle Leigh Sebastian, daughter of Bryant and Titien Sebastian of Shallowater, was born April 4, 2008 and went home to the Lord the same day.
Services will be at 3 p.m., Thursday, April 10, 2008 at First Baptist Church in Shallowater with Brother Mitch Wilson officiating. Interment will be in Moody cemetery in Moody, Texas.
Grettle is survived by her parents; paternal grandparents, William and Betty Sebastian of Telephone, Texas; paternal great grandfather, W.G. Sebastian of Temple, Texas; paternal great grandmother, Floy Graham of Holly Lake Ranch, Texas; maternal grandmother, Christina Gabeler of Jakarta, Indonesia; aunt Terri Arriola and husband, Joe and their daughters, Rachel and Talley, all of Whitewright, Texas.
James Ray (Jim) Cromer
James Ray (Jim) Cromer, 75, went to be with the Lord on April 4, 2008 at his home in San Saba. Born in Channing, to Albert Lee and Beatrice Cromer in 1932, he was reared in New Home and Lubbock. On June 2, 1955, he married
Alta Johanna Verheul in Lubbock.
Jim was a member of the First Baptist Church in San Saba. A San Saba County rancher for 33 years, he never really "retired." He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather who deeply loved the land, his community, his family, and friends. He will be buried Monday at Shaw Bend cemetery, on the ranch that he loved.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Maarten Kees; and brother, William Maxwell Cromer of Lubbock.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Alta Verheul Cromer; sons, James Lee Cromer, wife Joanne and children Clayton and Molly of Oklahoma City, Maarten Karl Cromer, wife Deanne and children Tucker and Karlee of San Saba, John David Cromer, wife Dena and children Colby and Colton of Denton, and Joel Patrick Cromer, wife Lenora and children Tommy, Chris, Emily, Adam and Audrey of San Antonio. He is also survived by a very loving sister-in-law and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, April 7, 2008, at 10 a.m., at the First Baptist Church in San Saba, with Rev. Sam Crosby officiating. Interment will follow at the Shaw Bend cemetery in San Saba County.
The family request that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.
Funeral services are under the direction of the Howell-Doran Funeral Home in San Saba.
R. D. McCauley, Jr.
R. D. McCauley, Jr., age 64, of Dallas, died April 5, 2008 in Dallas.
He was born November 12, 1943 in Crosby County, Texas. Mr. McCauley loved reading and his family, he had a great sense of humor and a style all his own.
Survivors include sisters, Nelda Pevey of Ralls, Dorothy Wooten and husband, A. D. of Weatherford, and Wilma Harris and husband, Jim of Ralls; four nieces, Margaret, Shelly, Ruby and Diane; eight nephews, Jerry, Eddie, Robert, Rick, Jimmy, David, Bill and Bruce; and other relatives and friends.
Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday April 11, 2008 in the Annetta cemetery. Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Thursday, April 10, 2008 at the funeral home.
Richard Gene Andy Andrews
Richard Gene "Andy" Andrews, of Midland, passed away on Monday, April 7, 2008, following a lengthy battle with cancer.
He was born July 29, 1952, in Hobbs, New Mexico, to Fred and Vonnie Andrews. The family moved to Odessa where he graduated from Odessa High School in 1971. After graduation, he continued his education at Odessa Jr. College. Richard was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church. He was a highway patrolman with the Texas Department of Public Safety for eight years and was stationed in Marfa, Odessa, and Kermit. In 1982, he joined the company of Phillips Petroleum, which later became Duke Conoco Phillips. For the next 25 years, he worked in several departments and was with the Gas Gathering System in the Sprayberry Field Office at the time of his death. He earned a reputation of respect and honesty in his dealing with landowners. Richard loved sports and watching NASCAR races on the weekends with his friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Andrews of Hyman, Texas, and Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Sewell, of Forsan, Texas.
Richard is survived by his parents, Fred and Vonnie Andrews of Lubbock, Texas; brother, Roger Andrews and his wife Belinda of Lubbock, Texas; niece, Kyla Turner and her husband, Kelley and their daughter Rylan of Phoenix, Arizona; nephew, Chad Andrews of Phoenix, Arizona; special friends, Melanie Huff and Rex Bradshaw of Midland, Texas; and his dog, Molly. He is also survived by a large family of numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Funeral services have been scheduled for 3 p.m. Thursday, April 10, 2008 at Ellis Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Bob Porterfield officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Danny Daniels, Danny Hale, David Latham, Lex Allgood, Pat Greetan and Rex Bradshaw, Jr.

Tillie Krzyzak Brady
Tillie Krzyzak Brady, 74, of Lubbock, Texas formerly of Liverpool, New York, beloved wife, mother, Mama/Baci and cousin passed away at home Saturday, April 5, 2008 with her loving family by her side. She was born and raised in Auburn, New York. She received her nursing degree from Nazareth College. Tillie married
Owen Brady on Aug. 28, 1954; they raised their children at several Air Force Bases in the United States and Canada and then settled in Liverpool. She has been living with her children in Lubbock for the past five years. She is predeceased by her loving husband, Eugene "Owen" Brady and her parents, Leo and Mathilda Krzyzak.
She is survived by her children: Bonnie Brady of Lubbock, Texas, Darlene (Randy) Martin and Gene (Cindy Sojourner) Brady of Abilene, Texas, Bob (Esther Vigliotti) Brady of Syracuse and Michael (Mary Ann Gargan) Brady of Liverpool; eight grandchildren, Michelle (B J) Ditz of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Bethany and Baron Martin and Branon and Brian Brady of Abilene, Texas, Zack and Geena Brady of Syracuse and Rachael Brady of Liverpool and one soon to be great-grandchild, Dakota Rylee of Abilene; cousins, Joann and Charlie Kiggins and family of North Syracuse; Aunt Helen, Jerry and Barbara Jean Kochman of Auburn and Uncle Henry Kochman of Granada Hills, California.

Virginia Robertson Craig
Virginia Robertson Craig, age 72, of Oak Park, Illinois formerly of Ft. Wayne, Ind. and Lubbock, Texas passed away on March 16, 2008 in her Oak Park residence. Virginia was born Oct. 16, 1935 in Ft. Worth, Texas. She attended Pascal High School in Ft. Worth, Bethel College in McKenzie, Tenn. She received her Ph. D in Spanish in 1968 from the University of Missouri. Virginia taught at Indiana University in Ft. Wayne from 1969 until her retirement in 1999. Upon her retirement she moved to Chicago along with her husband. Virginia enjoyed sewing, traveling and reading. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Robert Craig of Oak Park; daughter Cyd Curtis of Oak Park; granddaughter Virginia Curtis of Oak Park; sister-in-law Margie Wilcox of Lubbock, Texas, brothers-in-law John (Nita) Craig of Lubbock, Texas and James (Betty) Craig of Lubbock, Texas, along with many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service has been held. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the American Cancer Society, 7234 W. Ogden Ave., Ste. 3 South, Riverside, IL 60546 or to The Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Lubbock are appreciated.

Walter Norman Smith
Walter Norman Smith, age 87, passed away April 7, 2008 at Heritage Oaks in Lubbock, Texas. He was born Oct. 24, 1920 in Pittsburg, Kansas to Glenn D. and Leah Mae Smith. During his Junior and Senior years in High School in Pittsburg he won first place in the National Baton Twirling Championship. After high school he attended Colorado University in Boulder, Colorado where he graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Music Education. It was while attending the university he became the first person in the United States to twirl using Swiss Flags.
Following graduation he enlisted in the United States Army and attended Officer's Training School in Fort Sill, Oklahoma. It was there he received his commission as a Second Lieutenant. Norman was then stationed as an Artillery Pilot in Fort Smith, Arkansas where he met and married
Madeline Grace Marker on June 4, 1944. She preceded him in death in 2006 after 62 years of marriage.
As an Artillery Pilot he flew behind enemy lines in Germany where he directed American Artillery Fire from his Piper Cub airplane. He was later assigned as a pilot to General George Patton on his move across Germany. After being promoted to Captain he became the personal pilot for Generals Anthony Clement McAuliffe and John Theodore Pierce.
Following World War II he returned to Colorado where he was employed with School District 11 as Band Director for Palmer High School. He ended his teaching career in 1977 after 30 years of service. During his active years of teaching he inspired many students, some of whom pursued careers with the U.S. Navy Band, performing on Broadway in New York City and following in his footsteps in the teaching profession. Smitty, as he was known by all his friends and students, for many years was an active member of the Colorado Springs Symphony along with his wife. In addition he enjoyed playing with various Dance Bands at the Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs.
Following the death of his wife he moved to Wedgewood South in Lubbock, Texas to be near his sister, Leah Hayes, who survives him. Norman is also survived by a niece, Nancy Sapp of Dodge City, Kansas; nephews, Paul Hayes of Brownfield, Texas and David Hayes, of Lufkin, Texas; six great-nieces and nephews, and seven great-great-nieces and nephews, as well as many former students and friends. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home. His ashes will be returned to Colorado Springs where a memorial service will be held in June.
Enrique Henry Campos
Rosary for Enrique "Henry" Campos, 62, of Lubbock will be 7 p.m. today at Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral mass will be celebrated 1 p.m. Wednesday at San Jose Catholic Church with Father Martin Pina pastor officiating. Burial will be at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park under the direction of Calvillo Funeral Home.
Henry passed away on Sunday in Anton. He was born on June 4, 1945, in Devine, to the late Alejandro (2003) and Velia (1982) Campos. He was a roofer by trade. He moved to Lubbock in 1950 from Devine. He was a member of San Jose Catholic Church. He is preceded in death by two brothers Ramiro (2004) and Jesse (1990).
Survivors include two sons, David Campos and Steven Campos, both of Lubbock; three step-sons, Randy Huerta and Henry Huerta, both of Lubbock, Joe Angel Botello of Levelland; two step-daughters, Helen Sanchez of Wylie and Claudia Aguirre of Levelland; his former wife, Tomasa Campos of Lubbock; five brothers, Gilbert Sr. of Levelland, Francisco of Anton, Jose, Alejandro Jr., and Armondo Campos, all of Lubbock; four sisters, Ernestina Torres, Irma Alcorta, and Gloria Elias, all of Lubbock, Olga Montano of Salem, Ore.; his girlfriend, Anna Rodriguez of Anton; and 15 grandchildren.
Dessie Mae White
Graveside service for Dessie Mae White will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2008, in Slaton's Englewood cemetery, with Rev. John Ballard officiating, under the direction of Englund's Funeral Service of Slaton.
Dessie was born Thursday, June 29, 1916, in Wise County, near Paradise to Oscar Eugene Brewer and Sara Pauline (Kaker) Brewer. She moved to Slaton in 1922 with her parents and brother and sister. Dessie graduated from Slaton High School in 1933 and later attended Draughn's Business College. She had worked as a secretary/bookkeeper for a number of businesses; today we would call her an office manager.
Dessie married
George William White Jr. on Feb. 6, 1946, in Lubbock; shortly after they met each other in Slaton. Then shortly after their marriage, they moved to Borger. George preceded her in death on Friday, March 4, 1994. In October of 1996, Dessie moved to Lubbock.
She was an active and faithful member of St. Andrew Methodist Church in Borger. She was also a member the Ladies Circle organization. Everything that she did outside the church depended upon the activities of the Ladies Circle organization.
Dessie was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Spencer Brewer; sister, Viola Stokes; and great-granddaughter, Ashleigh Wilson.
Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Gyron White and Alton Hall, both of Lubbock, six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
