Maxine Ragsdale
Chapel service for Maxine Ragsdale, age 89, of Amarillo and formerly of Muleshoe, is scheduled for 2 p.m., Monday, March 31, 2008 at Ellis Funeral Home Chapel in Muleshoe with Rev. Monty Leavell and Don Ross officiating.
Burial will be in Sudan cemetery, Sudan, Texas.
Mrs. Ragsdale died Thursday, March 27, 2008 in BSA Hospital in Amarillo. She was born April 20, 1918 in Wise County, Texas. She married
Delmon P. "Buck" Ragsdale in Floyd County, Texas on Sept. 28, 1941. He preceded her in death on March 18, 1992. She was also preceded in death by her parents, R.C. and Josie (Guffee) Ross and her brother, Melvin Ross.
Maxine and her husband farmed and owned a cotton gin in Stegall and Baileyboro. She also taught school in Stegall. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Muleshoe. She was an avid bridge player and participated in four or five different bridge clubs. She was also a volunteer at the local hospital and worked on the voting election board. She was a long-time member of the Retired Teachers Association.
Survivors include her sister Norma Robinson and her husband Larry of Amarillo; nieces, Linda Bruning, Misty and Stacy Robinson, Sandra Blankinship, Patti McCarty, Rhonda Reed, and Alesia Turner; nephews, Randy Robinson, Kenneth Craig, Ron, Larry, and Don Ross.

Sarah Anderson
Sarah Anderson, 62, of Lubbock went to be with her Lord and Savior Monday, May 5th, 2008, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock. Celebration of life will be 1 p.m. Friday, May 9th, at Resthaven Funeral Home. Burial will follow with Rev. Jim Brown officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, 5:30-7 p.m.
Sarah was born April 19, 1946 in Abilene, to Stella and L.M. Scroggins. She lived most of her life in Lubbock and was a 1964 graduate of Monterey High School. She attended South Plains College, Texas Tech. She graduated from the Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in 1984 and West Texas A&M; in 1991, where she earned her BSN. Her nursing career began at Methodist on the Cardiac Care Unit. She became a Nurse Specialist on the Nutritional Support Team in June 1987. In 1990, Sarah moved to Nurse Specialist of Policy and Procedure where she continued up until her re-cent illness. Sarah's love for patient care and life will live forever in the halls of Covenant Health System. She was highly respected and loved by her coworkers. Sarah's great-est pleasures were being a loving wife of 44 years, a dedicated mother and grandmother to her three granddaughters, who will truly miss their "Mya, " and her beloved pets. Her loving and tender spirit also extended to caring for stray animals. She volunteered her time and support to the Haven.
Sarah is survived by her husband, Joe; daughter and son-in-law, Stacey and Darius Linder of Houston; son and daughter-in-law, Joel and Heather Anderson of San Antonio; granddaughters, Peyton Maddison and Arrington Anderson Linder and Stella Victoria Kit-ten Anderson; nieces and great nieces; sister, Dolores Cobb of Tyler; brother and sister-in-law, Milton and Sharon Anderson of Shreveport, La.; and brother-in-law, Tom Tipton of Reno, Nev. Ross Joiner
Services for Ross Joiner, 2, of Lubbock will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 3, 2004, at the Indiana Avenue Baptist Church in Lubbock with the Rev. Dennis Williams and the Elder George Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the Lorenzo cemetery under the direction of Adams Funeral Home of Lorenzo. He died Saturday, Feb. 28, 2004, at Duke University Hospital in Durham, N.C.
He was born Sept. 20, 2001 in Lubbock, Texas. He attended school at Kid's Kingdom in Lubbock and lived in Lubbock his entire life. He is preceded in death by a grandfather; Lee Joiner in 1996.
Survivors include his parents, Joe and Janet Schoepf Joiner of Lubbock; a brother, Trevor Joiner of Lubbock; and grandparents, Marvin and Loreeta Schoepf of Lorenzo, and Ruby Joiner of Wolfforth. Allen D. Holtman
Mr. Allen D. Holtman, 66, passed away Wednesday, April 7, 2004.
Mr. Holtman was born in Pampa and was a schoolteacher and a tennis coach. Having coached in Lubbock for eight years, Borger for five years and Clear Creek for 23 years, he was loved by all of his students. He had been the tennis pro at Hillcrest C.C. in Lubbock and was a member of the Texas Tennis Coaches Hall of Fame. He was also a golfer, having golfed at over 460 different courses throughout the U.S. and Can- ada. Mr. Holtman was a member of the Bay Area First Baptist Church and he was saved by grace as a young boy. He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Holtman.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Patricia Holtman; mother, Nettie Thornton; daughters, Cassie & husband Danny Atkeisson, and Tricia & husband Daryl Wray; sister, Gay & husband Tony Smith; sister, Ginger Thornton; sister-in-law, Donna & husband Mike Kelly; grandchildren, David & Emily Atkeisson and Kacy, Amy & Aaron Wray. Funer al services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, April 9, at Bay Area First Baptist Church in League City with Pastor Randall Williams officiating. Interment will be in Forest Park East cemetery under direction of Forest Park East Funeral Home in Webster.
Eleanor Ellie Whitt
Graveside services for Eleanor "Ellie" Whitt will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, May 13, 2008, at Resthaven Memorial Park, under the direction of Sanders Funeral Home.
Ellie, 71, passed away May 8, 2008, at her residence. She was born Aug. 8, 1934 in Loogootee, Ind., to the late William C. and Ester Zigler Bruner. She married
Wiley B. Whitt on May 2, 1983 in Clovis, N.M.
Ellie is survived by her husband, Benny, of Shallowater; children, Steven Walker and wife, Sandy, of Truth or Consequences, N.M., Sherry Ogle and husband, Robert, of Amarillo, Sheila Short, of Indianapolis, Ind., Shannon Rumble, of Evansville, Ind., Sandra Collins and husband, Terry, of Bedford, Ind., Sharon Gleason, of Green River, Utah, Stacey Taylor, of Washington, Ind., Ashley Whitt, of Lubbock, Benny A. Whitt and wife, Carla, of Okla., Sheila Bentley and husband, Terry, of Okla., and Perry Whitt, of San Antonio; a sister, Sandy Woody, of Loogootee, Ind.; a brother, Ronald Bruner, of Evansville, Ind.; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by a son, Shane Wiltz.
Ellie worked for the South Plains Fair, in the Culinary Dept., for a number of years before retiring as Culinary Superintendent. She was an avid book reader and also loved sharing time with her family and friends.
The family will receive friends at Sanders Funeral Home on Monday, from 6 until 8 p.m.
Jane Everline Aycock
April 22, 1927 - April 24, 2008
Jane was born in Slaton to George and Nell Everline. She grew up in Amarillo and was the valedictorian of AHS class of 1944. Jane graduated with high honors from Texas Tech. She is survived by her husband, Bill Aycock, who she married
Aug. 31, 1947. She has two sisters, Nancy Bassett of Marble Falls and Ann Payne of Oklahoma City. Jane is also survived by two sons, Dr Mark Aycock of Houston and Dr. Steve Aycock of San Marcos and their wives, Judy and Gina. Her two grandsons, Will and Darden, were the loves of her life.
Jane was an active member of the Jamestown Society and other genealogical groups. She wrote four genealogical books. Her other pastimes included gardening, birdwatching and her grandsons. She was interred at the San Marcos cemetery on April 26. Memorial contributions can be made to the CTMC Hospice Care of San Marcos.
Eva Jo Lane
Funeral services for Eva Jo Lane, 91, of Levelland are 2 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2008, at First Baptist Church Levelland, with Rev. Don Moreland officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens cemetery in Levelland. She died at home Monday, May 5, 2008, under the care of Hospice of Lubbock.
Jo was born to Frank and Sina Mitchell on April 11, 1917, in Okemah, Okla. She married
Albert Wilburn "Sonny" Lane on Nov. 24, 1934. They shared 55 years together until his death in 1989. She devoted her life to her family and will be remembered as a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a member of First Baptist Church Levelland and a longtime member of the Sonshine Choir. She also was a member of the W M U and taught preschool Sunday School for 30 years. She was preceded in death by her husband; two sisters, Alice Williams and Ada Clay; two brothers, Frank Mitchell and Justin Mitchell; and a grandson, Mark Dennis.
She is survived by three daughters, Shirley Dennis of Levelland, Mary Jo Howell and husband Kenneth of Big Spring, and Suzanne Harrison and husband Perry of Lubbock; two sons, Jack Lane of Seminole and Justin Lane and wife Sharon of Levelland; two sisters, Ruth Moss of Sonora, Calif. and Ruby VanZant of Caldwell, Idaho; 13 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to First Baptist Church Levelland.
Gladys Woods
Gladys L. Quillen Woods passed from this life into a far better place on May 5, 2008. A celebration of her life will be held at Bacon Heights Baptist Church on Friday, May 9th, at 11 a.m. Private entombment will be under the direction of Resthaven.
Gladys was born in Bryan, to Archie and Richard Smith Quillen, on Sept. 5, 1925. She met her husband, William T. Woods, in Bryan and they were married
June 22, 1945. They moved to Amarillo and started their family. They both worked at various jobs and in 1967, moved the family to Lubbock.
Gladys was a charter member of Bacon Heights, with membership of over 40 years. She was a wife, mother, friend, Sunday School Teacher, grandmother, super aunt, and department store worker. In all of these, she did well.
Many remember Gladys from her 30 years with Lena Stephens. She retired to travel with her husband, walking hand in hand for 54 years, until his passing in 1999.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, a granddaughter, three sisters, and a brother.
Survivors include a daughter, Gail Faubion and husband Leonard of Hamilton; a son, "Billy" William T. Woods, Jr. of Lubbock; a brother, Ray Quillen and wife Betty of Hereford; a sister-in-law, Jean Quillen of Yakima, Wash.; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Bacon Heights Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, from 6-8 p.m.
John David (J.D.) Harris
Graveside services celebrating the life of John David (J.D.) Harris were held at 5:00 pm, Saturday, May 3rd 2008, under the direction of Branon Funeral Home, in Lamesa, TX. John died peacefully Friday, May 2nd in Big Spring, TX, at the Lusk Texas Veterans Facility.
John David Harris, the fifth of 13 children, was born April 13th, 1910 to George W. & Lillie (Brock) Harris, in Villa Rica, GA. The family moved to Texas living in Winnsboro, Anson, Lamesa and Brownfield. As a young man John and his brother Euel worked on the construction of
Hoover Dam. John also worked on the Hardy Morgan Ranch. John married
Dorris Elizabeth Robinson, daughter of Ira D. and Mae (Crowder) Robinson, January 11th, 1936, in Lamesa.
John proudly served his country during WWII, as a Navy seaman on a destroyer ship. After his discharge, the family moved to Denver City, where John owned and operated an auto repair shop. The family moved in 1947 to the Klondike community where John farmed for many years. Later, he returned to being a mechanic. John was an active member of Second Baptist Church for over 40 years.
John is survived by his wife of 72 years, Dorris, four children, Shirley Thomas, and husband H.K., of Sun City, TX, David Harris and wife Barbara, Jerry D. Harris and wife Nelda, Larry D. Harris and wife Carol, all of Lamesa, TX., nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren, to whom he was lovingly referred to as "Papa John". Also, surviving is one brother, Gerald Harris of Lubbock, TX and one sister Faye Washburn, of Oklahoma City, OK.
John was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers, three sisters and one great-grandson.
