Pedro Florez
Funeral mass will be celebrated today at 10 a.m. at San Jose Catholic Church, with Father Martin Pi?a pastor officiating. Burial will be at Peaceful Gardens Memorial park under the direction of Calvillo Funeral Home.
Mr. Florez passed away Tuesday. He was born on Aug. 8, 1930 in Kennedy, Texas, to the late Eliseo (1987) and Manuela (1991) Florez.
Mr. Florez married
Alicia Lopez in December of 1955, in Lynn, Texas. He was a retired farmer and a Catholic. He was a life long resident of Lubbock. Survivors include his wife, Alicia, of Lubbock; five sons, Ramon Florez, Pedro "Pete" Florez, Jr., and Roberto, all of Lubbock, Jesus Florez and Baldo Florez, both of Andrews; three daughters, Asusena Lopez Molina, of Lubbock, Maria Celia Rosales, of Ft. Worth, and Yolanda Reyna, of Weslaco; four brothers, Gomecindo Florez, Erasmo Florez, Asor Florez, and Jose Florez, all of Lubbock; three sisters, Amelia Vasquez, of Idalou, Elisa Castillo, of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Gertrude Shoemaker, of Slaton; 31 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
Daniel Patrick Holmes
Daniel Patrick Holmes, 52, of Salisbury, N.C. died Tuesday, April 22, 2008, in North Carolina. He was born on Sept. 30, 1955, in Houston, to Damon P. and Thelma J. (McClellan) Holmes. He graduated from Coronado High School in 1974 and earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from West Texas State in 1979.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his son, Justin Holmes; sisters, Sally Sanders and Dr. Elnor Kinsella; brothers, Dr. Joe Holmes, Ben Holmes, and Sam Holmes; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, April 26, 2008, at Resthaven Memorial Park, under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home. Daniel's parents will receive family and friends at their residence, 3409 45th Street in Lubbock, on Friday, April 25, 2008, from 3-7 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Exodus Ministries or Melonie Park Church.
Wannie Holmes
Celebration of life services for Wanda "Wannie" Holmes, 83, of Lubbock, formerly of Georgetown, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, April 25, 2008, in First United Methodist Church of Meadow. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park. Wanda Inez Holmes was born April 27, 1924, in Paducah, to the late Carl and Alice (Millican) Russell. Wannie worked as an accountant for many years. Later she moved to Austin and then to Georgetown where she continued to work as an accountant.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Shirley McBride of Lubbock; son, Mokey McCrary and wife Kay of Levelland; sisters, Skeeter Fox and husband Jim of Horseshoe Bay, Barbara Lloyd and husband Hollis of Austin, and Carlene Jordan of Ruidoso, N.M.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Fred Thompson
Fred Thompson, 61, of Lubbock, passed away peacefully Saturday, April 19, 2008. A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 26, 2008, at 4 p.m., at Southcrest Baptist Church in Lubbock, with Rev. Glenn Harlin officiating. Cremation arrangements were under the direction of Agape Funeral Home of Lubbock.
Fred was born April 23, 1946, in Brownfield, to Robert and Evelyn Thompson. After graduating from McCallum High School in Austin, Fred attended the University of Texas and Texas Tech University majoring in finance. In 1967, the enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served two tours in Vietnam. While in the Navy, Fred served on the U.S. recovery team for the Apollo 11 splashdown in the Pacific. Fred received meritorious unit commendations, presidential unit citations and other military honors.
After an honorable discharge, Fred was involved in heavy industrial projects throughout the United States and the Middle East. Around 1995, Fred planted his roots in Lubbock, and created the company CSI Sprinkler Systems.
Fred was truly a "people person" and it gave him great joy to establish new friends, hand out his wife's gospel CDs, and tell everyone of Jesus' love and amazing grace.
He is survived by his wife, Andrea; his mother, Evelyn Thompson of Lubbock; two sons, Jason Thompson and wife Jamie, Brian Thompson and wife Stephanie, and a daughter, Kelley Blamey and husband James, all of Austin. He is also survived by his sister, Shirley Arend of Austin; his twin brother, Ed Thompson of Brookhaven, Miss.; six grandchildren; a cousin, Jessie Mary McClellan; a niece, Kim Sipowicz and husband Mike; and a host of extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by a brother, Robert Wayne Thompson, and his father, Robert Edward Thompson.

The family will receive visitors Saturday, April 26, at 3 p.m., in the parlor at Southcrest Baptist Church in Lubbock.
Without a doubt Fred has already looked into the eyes of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and has heard the words, "well done, my good and faithfull servant."
Manuel Gonzales
Funeral services for Manuel Gonzales, 85, of Lubbock will be on Wednesday, April 23, 2008, at 10 a.m. at St. Theresa's Catholic Church of Carlisle, with Father Cornelio Ramirez officiating.
Rosary will be 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at Guajardo Funeral Chapels. Burial will be at Peaceful Gardens cemetery under the direction of Guajardo Funeral Chapels. He died on Sunday, April 20, 2008 at Mi Casita Care Center. He was born on June 22, 1922 in Cotulla. He married
Anita Gonzales on March 25, 1946 in Jourdanton. She died on April 27, 2004.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Anita Gonzales, and grandson, Ernest Gonzales.
Mr. Gonzales was a WWII Veteran of the Army. He was very strong willed and caring and a good father and grandfather.
Survivors include three daughters, Bertha Gonzales of Lubbock, Adela Hernandez and Alicia Camacho, both of Sundown; three sons, Joe Ray Gutierrez of Lubbock, Armando and Manuel Gonzales Jr., both of Colorado City; 19 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to Hospice of Lubbock or Mi Casita Care Center.
Sarah E. Wilson
Sarah E. Wilson of Lubbock departed this life on April 20, 2008 at the age of 103 years. She was born on Aug. 31, 1904, to Samuel Stephen and Martha Jane (Gill) Six, in Pine Bluff, Ark. Sarah attended school in Portales, N.M
Those left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Gloria Lewis of Phoenix, Ariz. and Darlene Brown of Lubbock; four grandchildren, Jon Jenkins, Steve Jenkins, Tanya Wofford, and Craig Wofford; five great-grandchildren; and two son-in-laws, Gordon Brown and Joe Wofford both of Lubbock.
She is preceded in death by her parents and one daughter, Joyce Wofford.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in her memory to Interim Health Care-Hospice, 5422 75th Street, Lubbock, Texas 79424.
Arrangements are under the personal care of White Funeral Home of Lubbock.
Albert Douglass (Tud) Rogers
Albert Douglass (Tud) Rogers, 25, of Lubbock passed away in his sleep on Wednesday, the 23rd of April.
He went peacefully home with all the other angels. He was born on Jan. 21, 1983, to Charles (Dusty) Rogers and Nora Kathleen McCandless(Rogers).
He attended Harwell Elementary and was home-schooled until high school, when he graduated from Monterey High School. Albert loved everyone that he met. He would find the good in everyone.
He was preceded in death by his grandma, MiMi; his grandpa, JD McCandless; his gran-gran; and his grandfather, Albert D.Rogers.
The ones left to cherish his memory are his parents; his brother, Greg Rogers of Lubbock; sisters, Jessica Allen of Arizona, Brandy Rogers of Lubbock, Autumn Smith and Lacey Evans of Lubbock; the love of his life, his girlfriend Kristy Conley; numerous nieces and nephews; his faithful dog, Stormy; and his cat, Sid.
Family will receive guests at 9 a.m. at Griffin Mortuary on Tuesday morning with graveside services following at 10 a.m. at the City of Lubbock cemetery.
Dylan Thomas
Dylan Sloan Thomas, age 15, of Floydada, passed away on April 20, 2008, in Floydada. Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2008, at the First Baptist Church in Floydada with Pastor Randy Land of the First Baptist Church in Brownfield officiating. Burial will follow at Floyd County Memorial Park under the direction of the Moore-Rose Funeral Home.
Dylan was born on Oct. 13, 1992, in Lubbock, to Michael Derek Thomas and Jamie Gaye Chambers. He was an honor student at Floydada High School. Dylan was an active member of 4-H, FFA, National Young Leaders Association, and the First Baptist Church Youth Group. He enjoyed playing football, baseball, weightlifting, and loved listening to music.
Dylan is survived by his parents, Jamie and Chad Williams and a sister, Montana Williams, all of Floydada; father, Derek Thomas, of Austin; maternal grandparents, Jimmy and Becky Chambers, of Brownfield; paternal grandparents, Dr. Malcolm and Tanya Thomas, of Lubbock; and grandparents, Elmer Dean and Martha Williams, of Floydada; great-grandparents, L.C. and Natalie Unfred, of Lubbock, and Clevis and Clover Chambers, of Brownfield; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Dylan Thomas Memorial Fund at First National Bank in Floydada.
Pauline Rutledge
Pauline Rutledge, 96, of Richardson, passed away on April 18th and went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. A memorial and celebration of her life service will be at Ted Dickey West Funeral Home in Plano on Thursday, April 24th at 10 a.m. Visitation will be at 9 a.m. Burial services will be held at Resthaven Memorial Park in Lubbock on April 25th at 10 a.m.
Pauline Rutledge was born on March 9th, 1912, in Memphis, Texas, to Isaac W. and Lillie Mae Thomason. She attended Texas Tech University. She married
W. C. "Clyde" Rutledge on Jan 1, 1930. She was married
to Clyde until he passed away in May of 1969.
She was the Executive Director of the Lubbock chapter of the National Association of Credit Management until she retired in 1987. She was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church when she lived in Lubbock. She also lived in Scottsdale, Ariz. from 1994-2002.
She is survived by her daughter, Ann Bragg of Carrollton; grandchildren, Michael Simpson of Snohomish, Wash., Leesa King of Richardson, Dennis Scott of Keller, and Jeff Simpson of Centennial, Colo. and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Paula Witt of Phoenix, Ariz., three brothers and three sisters.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
