Walter Z. "Bud" Richardson
Walter Z. "Bud" Richardson, 80, of Lubbock, died Thursday at his home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, June 9, 2008 in the Franklin-Bartley Funeral Chapel. Entombment will follow in the City of Lubbock Mausoleum. His family will receive friends from 3 to 4:30 p.m. today at Franklin-Bartley Funeral Home.
Mr. Richardson was born January 6, 1928 in Madison, Wis. to the late William and Clara (Phillips) Richardson. He attended schools in Richland Center, Wis. Bud retired from the Beloit Corp as a machinist, in 1984. He was a past member of the Moose Lodge, and the Eagles Lodge. He married
Sandy Rosales July 1, 2000 in Lubbock.
Bud is survived by his wife, Sandy; three daughters, Judith Bachelor of Rochester, N.Y.; Marguerite Rains and Beverly Hudson of Beloit, Wis.; one son, Gilbert Richardson of Beloit, Wis.; and daughter-in-law, Debbie Richardson of Beloit, Wis.
Also surviving are his sisters, Mary Kay Utzig of Beloit, Wis. and Winifred Gutwiler of Muscoda, Wis.; Marguerite Myers of Bethel, Ohio; ten grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
Mr. Richardson was preceded in death by a son, Walter Richardson, Jr.; two brothers, and a sister.
Nancy Mann Wallace
Nancy Mann Wallace of Lubbock passed away Thursday morning, June 5, 2008, fewer than two months short of her 90th birthday.
Born on August 21, 1918, in Memphis, Tenn., to parents Marie Chambers Mann and Robert Mann, M.D., she received her schooling in Memphis and in Washington, D.C. Nancy studied ballet and performed in many venues. She married
Grady Monroe Wallace, M.D., on December 20, 1941, in Memphis. While her husband completed his medical training in ophthalmology, they lived in Baltimore, Md., and in New Orleans, La. After a short stay in Decatur, Ala., the couple moved in 1950 to Lubbock where her husband practiced medicine and they made their home and raised their children. Nancy was active in various functions at St. Paul's Episcopal Church and with the Nancy Anderson Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Nancy was preceded in death by her husband in 1990; by a child, son Robert E. Wallace; and by her brother, Robert Mann of Memphis. Nancy is survived by her two sons, James E. Wallace and William B. Wallace; William's wife, Karen; William and Karen's son, Evan G. Wallace; and Evan's daughter, Zoey W. Wallace, all of Lubbock.

L. George Ellis
L. George Ellis died at his home near Johnson City on Tuesday, June 3, his 70th birthday. He was born in Southland to Sam and Ruby Ellis, pioneers of the Texas South Plains.
He graduated from Southland Public Schools, McMurry College in Abilene, attended Seminary, and soon went to work for the Office of Economic Opportunity during the LBJ Administration. During his professional career, he worked in the ACTION program, the New Mexico Department of Aging, the Texas Department of Agriculture, the General Land Office, and served as the State Director of the USDA Farmers Home Administration.
However, during all of his years of public service, he remained close to the land and the rural people he loved, maintaining ranching interests in Garza, Blanco, and Hays Counties. In his active retirement, he served as state president of AARP.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara; son, Bret and daughter-in-law Jodie of Houston; a daughter, Elyse and husband Jonathon Pollack, and their son, Gabriel of Pelham Manor, N.Y.; and Barbara's sons, Steven Alvarez, and Danny Reynolds and wife Caroline. He is also survived by his mother, Ruby of Southland; sisters, Janyce Gravel and Donetta Lines, both of Slaton. He was preceded in death by his father, Sam Ellis, and a brother, Sam E. Ellis.
A memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 9 in Englunds Chapel of Englunds Funeral Service in Slaton. Memorials may be made to the Sam Ellis Scholarship Fund, c/o Donetta Lines, 1585 West Crosby St., Slaton, Tx 79364.
Juanita Lopez Gonzales
Juanita Lopez Gonzales went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Friday June 6, 2008. She was born January 26, 1921 in Jourdanton to Antonia Galindo and Bernaldino Lopez. Juanita married
Francisco Filoteo Gonzales on September 17, 1938. He preceded her in death on August 3, 1993. Unto this union, 12 children were born. Six of her children preceded her in death. Juanita enjoyed life and loved God. She enjoyed crafts, quilting, sewing and drawing. She loved to sing, especially her favorite hymns. Juanita was a homemaker most of her life. She was a foster grandparent at the Lubbock State School for ten years. She was a daughter, aunt, sister, wife, mother and friend. She will be greatly missed.
Juanita is survived by six children, Alma Apolinar of San Antonio; Francisco L. Gonzales, Jr., of San Antonio; Elias L. Gonzales of Pueblo, Colo.; Olga Maria Martinez of Lubbock; Ernesto L. Gonzales (Hermila) of San Antonio; Adriana Polando of Washington; 47 grandchildren, and numerous great and great-great grandchildren.

Joseph Garza Montiel
Rosary for Lance Corporal Joseph Garza Montiel, 25, of Lubbock, will be today at 7 p.m. at Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday at 10 a.m. at San Jose Catholic Church with Father Martin Pina officiating. Military graveside services will be at the City of Lubbock cemetery under the direction of Calvillo Funeral Home.
Lance Corporal Montiel passed away on Wednesday. He was born on June 10, 1982 in Lubbock to the late Frank R. (May 28, 2008) and Manuela Montiel. He graduated from Estacado High School in 2000. He was a Field Radio Operator for the United States Marine Corp. He had been awarded the Marksman Rifle Badge, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Expeditionary Medal, Sea Service Deployment, Selected Marine Corps Reserve Medal, and the Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation.
Survivors include his fianc?e, Melody Garcia of Lubbock; mother, Manuela Montiel of Lubbock; four brothers, David, Frank, Angel, and Eric, all of Lubbock; two sisters, Anna Lee Montiel and Leticia Montiel, both of Lubbock; his paternal grandmother, Helen Montiel of Lubbock; and his maternal grandmother, Mercedes Garza of Lubbock.
Gordon Wendell Carlson
Gordon Wendell Carlson, 75, of Lubbock, passed away peacefully on Friday June 6, 2008. A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at LakeRidge United Methodist Church with the Revs. Bill Couch and John Burk officiating. Cremation is under the direction of Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers.
Gordon was born Feb. 3, 1933 in Jal, N.M. to Pearl and S.B. Carlson. After graduation from McCamey High School in McCamey, Gordon attended New Mexico State University where he played football. It was at this time he became an avid golfer and continued to play and love the sport. During his years of playing he won club championships at Crane Country Club, many tournaments and had several hole-in-ones. Gordon married
C.B. Whatley on Oct. 2, 1955 in Brounte. He was a member of LakeRidge United Methodist Church, Hobbs Masonic Lodge, Lubbock Scottish Rite and the Eastern New Mexico Senior Golf Association. Gordon was employed with Exxon for forty years working in Crane, and Hobbs, N.M.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, C.B.; sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws, Sara and Billy Stewart of Houston; and Lori and Ricky Whatley of Cisco; a dear friend, Janice Justice of Lubbock; two nieces, Shari Stewart and Kelli Johnson; two nephews, Scott Stewart and Bill Stewart; cousins, and many friends.

Glinda Walden
Glinda Walden of Lubbock departed this life on June 7, 2008 at the age of 69 years. She was born on September 5, 1938 to Erastus L. and Beaulah Lee (Poulter) Morgan in Navarro County. Glinda married
John Walden on June 10, 1961 in Lubbock. She was a waitress until her retirement.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, John Walden; one daughter, Cynthia Price Walden of Lubbock; two sons, Dan Price and wife Dorothy, and Randall Price and wife Babbette, both of Lubbock; five grandchildren, Tara Price; Kacy Price; John Price and wife, Janie; Kassie and Craig Harlow; and Keri and Stu Grant; four great-grandchildren, Ashlee, Drew, Hilary, and Danielle; one brother, Deryal Morgan; one brother-in-law, Johnny Ray Adams of Lubbock; and one dear and special friend Susan Pipes.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father; one sister, Wanda Adams; and one brother, Chester Morgan.
Graveside Services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at Fairview cemetery in Amherst with Bruce Cotton officiating.

Galen Barnett
Services for Galen Barnett, 54, of Ralls will be 11 a.m. Monday, June 9, 2008 at the Ralls First Baptist Church with Rick Grant officiating. Burial will follow in the Ralls cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls.
Galen passed away on Friday, June 6, 2008 at his home in Ralls. He was born September 26, 1953 in Seminole to William F. and Marie (Grant) Barnett.
He graduated from Lubbock High School in 1972. He played high school football at Lubbock High and received All State honors. He moved back to Ralls in 2004 from Amarillo where he had spent 27 years working for Owens Corning.
Survivors include his mother, Marie Barnett of Ralls; four brothers, Harlan Barnett of Ralls; Delwin Barnett of Lawrence, Kan.; Kelton Barnett of Tulsa, Okla.; and Kevin Barnett of Lubbock.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 5 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
Frances Flores
Frances Flores of Tahoka departed this life on June 6, 2008 at the age of 66 years.
She was born on March 12, 1942 to Manuel and Maria (Dominguez) Salinas in Tahoka. Ms. Flores was a life-long resident of Tahoka. She married
Pedro "Pete" Flores on May 29, 1955 in Tahoka. He preceded her in death on January 7, 1983. Frances was a homemaker. She attended St. Jude's Catholic Church, where she was a Sunday School Coordinator and kitchen coordinator for St. Jude's bingo. She did this for several years before she became ill.
Those left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Edna Milinowicz and husband Tom of Littleton, Colo.; Elsie DeLeon and husband Gabriel of Tahoka; two step-daughters, Virginia Diaz and husband Steven of Lubbock; and Rachael Barboza and husband Andy also of Lubbock; one son-in-law, Ronnie Casarez; eighteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Sally Saldana and husband Frank of Tahoka; and one brother, Froy Salinas and wife Lisa of Austin.
Frances is preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Leonard Flores and Elmer Flores; one daughter, Elvia Casarez; and one grandson, Ramiro Pete Casarez.
Rosary will be held 7 p.m. Sunday, June 8, 2008 at St. Jude Catholic Church in Tahoka. Mass Services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, June 9, 2008 at St. Jude Catholic Church in Tahoka with Father Eduardo Teo officiating. Interment will follow at Tahoka cemetery.
