J.B. Smith
Services for J.B. Smith, 87, of Lubbock will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Abbey Chapel of Resthaven Funeral Home with the Rev. Tom Alsheimer, associate pastor for Temple Baptist Church, officiating.
Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park.
Smith died Monday, March 15, 1999 at Golden Age Nursing Home.
He was born Jan. 21, 1912 in Chico. He married
Lydia Jordan on Feb. 19, 1989, in Lubbock. He graduated from Chico High School and served in the U.S. Air Force. He retired from Exxon in 1973. He was a mason with the Andrews Lodge and a member of Temple Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Clara Glenn of Shallowater and Darlene Howard of Lubbock; a son Tommy Jordan of Houston; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild, two nieces and several cousins.
The family suggests memorials to Temple Baptist Church Mission.
Richard Lee Rushing
At 4:30 p.m. May 13, 2004, Richard Rushing, 54, entered into the arms of Jesus Christ his Lord. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 18, at Resthaven's Abbey Chapel with Pastor Mary Baker and Pastor Glen Swartzendruber officiating. Burial will follow at City of Lubbock cemetery.
Richard was born on Dec. 30, 1949, in Lubbock to Joe and Betty Rountree Rushing. He was an honor graduate of Monterey High School and attended Bolder University. He married
Sharon Sledge in Dec. 1992. He worked for Joe Rushing Plumbing for 25 years. He attended Church on The Rocks. He will be remembered by all those who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Rushing.
Richard is survived by his wife, Sharon; father, Joe Rushing; brother, Joe Ray Rushing and wife Cindy; nephew, Joe D. Rushing and wife Dusti; niece, Ronda Rushing, all of Lubbock; stepdaughter, Tiffany Douthitt and husband Jason of Wolfforth; stepson, Shane Sledge of Fredericksburg; and his sidekick, Cammie. The family will receive friends at Resthaven Funeral Home from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, May 17. The family suggests memorials to Lubbock Regional Mental Health and Mental Retardation Center, 1602 10th St., Lubbock, TX 79401.
Pauline Polly McKay
Services for Pauline "Polly" Melton McKay, 83, formerly of Lubbock, will be 10 a.m. Monday, June 23, 2008 in Resthaven's Abbey Chapel. Entombment will follow in Resthaven Mausoleum.
Polly was born in Hockley County to Lewis Avon and Nora Mae Melton on February 21, 1925. She graduated from Sundown High school in 1943, and worked for a while at the Pantex Ordinance Plant. She was married
to Lester Foster on April 1, 1944. They had two sons, Wesley and Ronald Foster. Lester Foster passed away at the age of 44 in 1966.
Mrs. McKay lived in Olympia, Wash. for six years prior to moving to Denver, Colo. There, she met James McKay and they were married
in Aurora, Colo. on June 30, 1979. Mr. McKay passed away May 3, 2005, in Lubbock, where they had retired in 1989.
She is survived by two sons, Wesley Foster of Loveland, Colo.; and Ronald Foster of Ruidoso, N.M.; two granddaughters, Cortney Foster of Boulder, Colo.; and Amanda Keyes of Midland; two stepsons, James McKay, Jr. of Houston; and John McKay of Lubbock; and nine step-grandchildren.
Polly was a member of Indiana Avenue Baptist Church, where memorials are suggested be sent to the building fund, in lieu of flowers.
Roberto Trevino
Rosary for Roberto T. Trevino, 66, of Ralls will be 7 p.m. Sunday, June 22, 2008, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Ralls. Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday, June 23, 2008 at the same church with Deacon Benny Brito officiating. Burial will be in Ralls cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls.
Robert passed away on June 19, 2008 in Crosbyton. He was born on May 7, 1942 in Bee County to the late Bonifacio and Maria (Trevino Nieves) Trevino. On August 28, 1958 he married
Isabel Caransa in Sinton. She preceded him in death on November 28, 1995.
He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and was employed by Parkhill Farms. He had lived in Crosby County for many years.
He is preceded in death by a son, Domingo Gonzales, who died in 1991; and two brothers, Juan Garza and Juan Trevino.
He is survived by four daughters, Elva Trevino of Lubbock; Evangelina Lopez of Holland, Mich.; Diana Lara of San Angelo; Gloria Pyle of Ralls; a step-daughter, Diana Lira of Ralls; a special friend, Olivia Arredondo of Crosbyton; 19 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Penny Ham
Memorial services for Penny Ham will be 4 p.m. Saturday, June 21, 2008 at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church in Lubbock. She departed from this life June 17 after a brief illness. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to a charity of your choice.
Louise Parks
Funeral services for Margie Louise Parks, 73, a lifetime Scurry and Borden County Resident, will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Parks Family Ranch cemetery with Rev. Tony Wofford and Mr. Keith Hackfeld Officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
She left this earth at 2:15 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2008, at Cogdell Memorial Hospital after a sudden illness. She was born December 29, 1934, in Weinert. She married
Martin A. Parks on September 10, 1949 in Snyder. He preceded her in death on October 28, 2007.
Mrs. Parks was a rancher, and homemaker. She was a member of the Word is Life Deliverance Church.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Donna & Tony Isaacs of Fluvanna; two sons and daughters-in-law, D. M. and Debi Parks of Fluvanna; and Eddie and Diedra Parks of Denison; one brother and sister-in-law, Glenn & Louise Thompson of Snyder; eight grandchildren, J. T. Isaacs of Fluvanna; Todd & DeAnn Brady of Fluvanna; Jason and Meg Jarstfer of Ratliff, Ky.; Karl and Dayna Wombach of Houston; Chata Goen and Keeley Goen, both of Denison; Liesel Parks of Denison; and Hunter Jackson of Dallas; six great-grandchildren, Joshua and Daisy Jarstfer; Michael and Hannah Brady; Sina and Karlie Wombach; brother and sister-in-law, Edwin and Nelle Parks of Snyder; sister-in-law, Bonnie Goswick of Jayton; nephews, Ricky Thompson and wife Tori of Snyder; Eddie Thompson of Snyder; Gary Parks of Snyder; nieces, LuAnn Walker and husband John of Snyder; Sheila Shoemaker of Jayton; and a host of family and friends.

Leslie Beam
Services for Leslie Beam, 84, of Slaton will be 10 a.m. Saturday, June 21, 2008 in Englunds Chapel. Interment will be in Englewood cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Englunds Funeral Service in Slaton.
Mr. Beam was born March 18, 1924 in McClain County, Okla. Leslie married
Buna Helen Schoonover on May 5, 1945 in Lindsey, Okla. They previously lived in Idalou before moving to Slaton in 1964. Leslie retired from Pay Master Oil Mill.
His survivors include his wife, Pat; daughters, Helen Sisson and Betty Brachwitz; brothers, Elmer and Marvin Beam; sisters, Nona Fae Ramsey; Louise Beam; and Evelyn Beam; four grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and nine great-great grandchildren.

Lavern Ratke, 74, of Arlington, passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2008, from a long time battle with cancer.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Bisbee Baptist Church in Mansfield. Interment will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Resthaven cemetery of Lubbock.
Lavern was a beautiful woman of uncompromising integrity and selfless giving. She was once hailed "Humanitarian of the Year" by a city who knew her contributions to those less fortunate and less able. She was like a living Angel to so many....

Lavern was a devout member of Bisbee Baptist Church of Mansfield. She was a loving wife and mother.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, and two sisters.
Her passing leaves a husband, Clyde Wayne Gibbons of Arlington; a daughter, Sharon Kay Allen of Lawton, Okla.; a son, Tony Ratke of Maplehill, N.C.; a stepdaughter, Deborah Lynn Peace of Lawton, Okla; a son, Kenneth Ratke of Post; a son, John Ratke of Mansfield; and a stepdaughter, Shawna Stanwyck of Flowermound. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, two brothers and five sisters.
Jimmy Santiago Guerrero, Jr.
Prayer services for Jimmy Santiago "Arturo" Guerrero Jr., 63, of Lubbock will be 7 p.m. today at Calvillo Funeral Home. Burial will be at The City of Lubbock cemetery under the direction of Calvillo Funeral Home.
Arturo passed away on Wednesday. He was born on August 26, 1944 in Karnes City, to the late Jimmy Santiago Sr. (1990) and Blassa Guerrero (1963). He married
Eva Serna on July 4, 1967 in Lubbock. He had worked for Kerr Construction before going to work for Lubbock Building Products as a trucker. He was a life long resident of Lubbock.
Survivors include his wife of Lubbock; two sons, David and wife Florencia Guerrero, both of Lubbock; Jimmy Guerrero III of Lubbock; and a daughter, Maricela Guerrero of Lubbock; six brothers, Raul and wife Yolanda of Seguin; Alex Medina; Armondo and wife Debra Medina; Modesto Medina; Gilbert Medina; Billy and wife Sylvia Medina, all of Houston; two sisters, Ofelia and husband Mel Gallegos; Mary Jane and husband Victor Medina, all of Houston; and one grandchild.
