Gayle Leroy Bush
Gayle Leroy Bush of Shallowater passed away at Midland Memorial Hospital on July 6th. He was buried in Peaceful Gardens cemetery in Lubbock on July 11th.
He was a lifelong resident of Lubbock and in the carpet industry for more than 40 years. He served in the military and was a devout Texan.
He was born on Dec. 29, 1936, in Plainview, to John and Etta Mae Bush. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, David; brothers, Earl, Jack and Edward; and sister, Mildred.
He is survived by his wife, Susie; daughters, Cindy, Kelli and Shea; and sons, Michael and Kyle. Also surviving are sisters, Margaret Eastwood of Tulsa and Bettye Myers of Corpus Christi; brothers, Philip of Lubbock, Bill of Dallas, George of Cedar Park, Jimmy Dan of Miami, Okla., and Bobby of Oregon; and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Billie Jean Sparks
Celebration of life services for Billie Jean Sparks, 80, of Lubbock will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 23, 2008, at Bellaire Baptist Church, with Rev. Paul Lively officiating. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park. A visitation will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 22, 2008, at Resthaven Funeral Home.
Billie Jean was born Nov.13, 1927, in Shallowater, to the late Thomas and Una (McAllen) Groves. She married
Leslie Sparks Feb. 14, 1945. He preceded her in death July 10, 1998. Billie Jean was a member of Bellaire Baptist Church.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Green, and a son, Dana Sparks.
Those left to cherish her memory are a daughter, Donna Bartsch of Lubbock; son, Kevin Sparks of Idalou; 15 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
Vera Lee Jones
Graveside services for Vera Lee Jones, 96, of Lubbock, will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, May 23rd, in Resthaven Memorial Park, under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.
Vera went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, May 20th.
She was born on Aug. 26, 1911, in Johnson County, to J. Oscar and Fanny Swinney Nowell. She married
Robert L. Jones July 4, 1932. Mr. Jones passed away in 1987.
Vera was a member of Bacon Heights Baptist Church and retired from Methodist Hospital's Central Supply in 1980.
She was preceded in death by a son, Robert Wayne Jones and a great grandson, Brandon Byrd.
Survivors include three daughters, Dorothy Poteet of Sun City, Calif., Patsy Wooten of Lubbock, and Linda Jones of Galveston; a brother, Milford Nowell; grandchildren, Sherry Chabolla, Michael Wooten, Chad McMillan, Steve Jones, and Kristen DelGreco; and great-grandchildren, Kimberly and Nathan Chabolla, Morgan Byrd, Jackson and Carter DelGreco.
Jesse Galvan
Jesse Galvan of Lubbock departed this life on May 19, 2008 at the age of 56 years. He was born on Aug. 15, 1951, to Jose and Maria (Guerrero) Galvan, in Lubbock. Jesse attended Lubbock High School. He was a lifelong Lubbock resident.
Those left to cherish his memory are two brothers, Andres Galvan and Fabian Galvan, and two sisters, Pauline Vargas and Janie Garcia.
He is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and one brother.
A memorial service will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, May 22, 2008, at the Church of the Blessed, located at 1809 34th St.

Thomas Ortega
Thomas Ortega of Lubbock departed this life on July 21, 2008, at the age of 53 years. He was born to Martin Ortega, Jr. and Aurora Flores on Jan. 20, 1955, in Lubbock. Thomas married
Rosa Vega on April 9, 1974, in Crosby County. They have been married
for 34 wonderful years. He worked for Flemings for 27 years until the company closed the doors and he then retired. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. He was a man with lots of joy. He made others laugh and was very thoughtful of others.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Rosa; one daughter, Melinda Ortega of Lubbock; one son, Anthony Ortega of Lubbock; his mother, Aurora Ortega of Lubbock; his father, Martin Ortega and wife Maria of Lubbock; four sisters, Maria Martinez and husband Guadalupe; Debbie Cortez and husband David, Tina Longoria and husband Gilbert, all of Lubbock, and Lucy Femings of Rowlett; and seven brothers, Robert Ortega and wife Toy of Wolfforth, John Ortega and wife Mary Helen of Plainview, Roy Ortega and wife Betty of Anton, Daniel Ortega and wife Krystal, Manuel Ortega and wife Dora, George Ortega and Martin Ortega, III, all of Lubbock.
Rosary will be 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 23, 2008, at White Memorial Chapel in Lubbock. Mass will be 11 a.m. Thursday, July 24, 2008, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Father Andres Mendoza officiating. Interment will follow at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park in Woodrow.

Ricky Brian Beaver
Ricky Brian Beaver, at the age of 43, was taken into the loving arms of our Lord while surrounded by his close family and friends on July 20, 2008, in Austin.
Brian is survived by his three children, Brent, Ashlee, and Adam Beaver; as well as his parents, Ricky and Myrna Beaver; his sister, Brenda Eason and husband Greg; niece and nephew, Morgan and Grant Eason; and his grandmother, Ruth Rozzell.
A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Friday, July 25, 2008, at Cook-Walden Chapel of the Hills Funeral Home, 9700 Anderson Mill Rd. Austin, TX 78750.

Ramon Sosa Urtado
Ramon Sosa Urtado, 76, of Lubbock, passed away on Monday, July 21, 2008, at University Medical Center. He was born on Oct. 13, 1931, in Levelland. He married
Connie "Rita" Urtado in Lubbock.
Mr. Urtado was a plumber at Gibson Plumbing and also worked at The Flea Market for 15 years. He enjoyed playing dominos and cards at Mae Simmons Community Center.
Survivors include his wife, Connie "Rita" Urtado; son, Joe Ray Urtado and wife Debbie Urtado of Leander; daughter, Kristine U. LeVea and husband Micheal LeVea of Cedar Park; stepsons, Roy Guerra and wife Nora Guerra of Temple, and Randy Reymundo of Lubbock; stepdaughter, Jolisa Garcia and husband Richard Garcia of Wolfforth; brothers, Fred Urtado and family of Lubbock, and Jimmy Urtado and family of Midland; sisters, Estella Urtado and family of Lubbock, and Elvira Alcorta of Dallas; grandchildren, Ruby of Lubbock, Joseph, Kevin, Marisa, Samuel, Rachel, Brandon and Joshua of Leander, Amanda, Bridgette and Jessica of Cedar Park; step-grandchildren, Jonathon, Christopher, Stefan and Arin of Temple, Clarissa and Isaiah of Wolfforth; and great-grandchild, Reagan of Lubbock.
Margarita Lopez Perez
Funeral services for Margarita Lopez Perez, 89, of Lubbock, will be 10 a.m. Thursday, July 24, 2008, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Father Martin Pi?a officiating.
Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 23, 2008, at Guajardo Funeral Chapels. Burial will be at City of Lubbock cemetery under the direction of Guajardo Funeral Chapels. She died on Saturday, July 19, 2008, at home. She was born on June 8, 1919, in Martindale. She married
Ricardo Perez on Dec. 8, 1945, in Martindale. He died on April 15, 1976.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ricardo Perez.
Survivors include two sons, Vicente Perez and Mike Perez of Lubbock; daughter, MaryAnn Fraire of Oklahoma; one daughter-in-law, Julia Perez of Lubbock; son-in-law, Socorro Fraire of Oklahoma; three sisters, Natividad Rocha of Smyder, Dolores Games of San Marcos and Denise Monta?a of Vernon; one brother, Domingo Lopez of Ulisses, Kan.; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Michael Perez, David Rodriguez, Leo Rodriguez, R. C. Coronado, Vicente Perez Jr. and Fabian Perez.
James Eldon White
James Eldon White, 78, of Lubbock, died Monday, July 21, 2008, at the VA Medical Center in Amarillo.
He was born on March 29, 1930, in Denton, to James and Jessie (Dikes) White. Eldon graduated from Denton High School and attended Texas Tech. In June of 1951, he joined the United States Navy and proudly served his country during the Korean War. Following his discharge, he married
Mary Linda Gregory on June 27, 1959, in Quanah.
Eldon worked 23 years for General Electric and was a member of Oakwood Baptist Church. In the interest of science, Eldon donated his body to the Texas Tech University Health Science Center School of Medicine in order to assist in the research of dementia and vascular diseases.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Mary White of Lubbock; son, Charles Edward White and wife Karen of Pecos; daughter, Mary Elizabeth White Bramlet and husband Larry of Lockney; grandchildren, Jill Elizabeth and Jake Ty Bramlet; and brothers Earl Wayne White of Washington and David Lee White of Missouri.
Memorial service with Military Honors will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 24, 2008, in Resthaven's Mausoleum Chapel under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home with Dr. Stan Blevins officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Amarillo VA Health Care System Alzheimer's Unit or to a local Hospice organization.
