Ruth Yzaguirre

A native of Sinton, Tx., Ruth spend most of her life in Clovis, N.M. Her last six glorious years were lived in Lubbock, where she was involved in "De Colores" at church.

Ruth is survived by her husband, Sylvester Yzaguirre; two sisters, Reyna Perez and Robin De LaCruz of Lubbock; Rudy Benavidez of Ariz.; four sons, Abel and wife Christina Gonzales; George and wife Blanca Yzaguirre; Sylvester Yzaguirre, Jr.; Esmael Yzaguirre; three daughters, Melinda, Melissa, and Michelle Yzaguirre; her loving granddaughter, Pricilla Gonzales; three nieces; two nephews; 18 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Rosary will be 7 p.m. Sunday and Mass at 11 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.

Patricia Ann Quijada

A Funeral Mass for Patricia "Patsy-Nana" Quijada, 68, of Lubbock, will be 10 a.m. Monday, July 21, 2008 at St. John Neumann Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park. A Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Sunday in Resthaven's Abbey Chapel.

Patsy passed away on Thursday, July 17.

She was born on August 16, 1939 in Richmond, Va., to Pernel T. and Enda V. Mayer Hughes. Patsy graduated from High School in Richmond. She met her future husband, Eduardo Z. Quijada on a blind date. They married in Washington, D.C., on April 4, 1959. She had been a resident of Lubbock since 1973 and was a Catholic.

Patsy enjoyed cooking, crocheting, camping, fishing, and spending time with family.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Eduardo Quijada of Dallas; Miguel Quijada of Lubbock; daughter, Maria Ramirez of Lubbock; sister, Mary Virginia Johnson of Richmond, Va.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to express their deep appreciation for the care of Patsy by Dr. Farrell and staff of VistaCare Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to St. John Neumann Catholic Church Youth or Building Fund.

Mildred Roberta Thornton

Mildred Roberta Thornton, 88, passed away July 23, 2008 at her home in Flower Mound. Mildred was born April 12, 1920 in Cooper to Claburn and Nellie Pruett.

Mildred was a former resident of Lubbock, where she attended Word Aflame Pentecostal Church.

She is survived by her daughter, Wanell Gregg and husband Larry; five grandchildren, Tommy Thornton, Andy Gregg, B.J. McCormick, Andrea Gregg and Dedra Thornton; and by one great-granddaughter, Julia Boothe. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. O.A. Thornton who passed away in 1979; daughter, Sheila Steinbock in 1992; and son, Tom Thornton in 2004.

Visitation was held on Friday, July 25, 2008 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Flower Mound Family Funeral Home in Flower Mound. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, July 26, 2008 in the Chapel of Flower Mound Family Funeral Home, Rev. B.E. Stanley officiating. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Monday, July 28, 2008 at Peaceful Gardens cemetery in Woodrow.

Juanita Casey Kizer

Juanita Casey Kizer of Lubbock departed this life on July 23, 2008 at the age of 88 years. She was born on June 13, 1920 to Benjamin and Ellie Catherine (Spence) Casey in Lubbock. Juanita attended Lubbock High School and graduated in 1938. She married Nat Kizer on March 3, 1945 at the Shepherd Air Force Base in Wichita Falls. He preceded her in death on January 12, 2002. Mrs. Kizer was a homemaker. She was a member of First Methodist Church.

Those left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Kris Kizer and Karla Wardroup, both of Lubbock; one son-in-law, Richard L. Wardroup of Lubbock; three grandchildren, Jason and Jeffrey Bigham, and Taylor Sondergaard; and four great-grandchildren, Price, Hannah, Andrew, and Jack Bigham.

Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Monday, July 28, 2008 at Resthaven Memorial Park in Lubbock.

Family will welcome friends at 3301 39th Street after services.

Arrangements are under the personal care of White Funeral Home of Lubbock.

Dorothy Walker

Dorothy Walker of Lubbock departed this life on July 23, 2008 at the age of 80 years. She was born on December 8, 1927 in Crosby County to H.B. and Ada (Brown) Grant. Dorothy attended Brownfield High School and graduated in 1945. She married Jack Walker on November 11, 1945 in Belton. She managed school cafeteria master kitchens for many years, retiring in 1984. She was a member of Bellaire Baptist Church.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Jack; one daughter, Jackie Davis and husband Dan of Shallowater; one son, Bill Walker and wife Brenda of Lubbock; four grandchildren, Lainie Borton and husband Tom; Chris Davis and wife Kellie; D'Ann Davis; and John Davis; two great-grandchildren, Amy and Allison Borton; and one brother, James Grant of Abilene.

She was preceded in death by her parents, H. B. and Ada Grant.

Celebration of Life Service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, July 26, 2008 at Bellaire Baptist Church with Lonnie Carroll officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Arrangements are under the personal care of White Funeral Home of Lubbock.

Bonnie Gandy

Church service for Bonnie Gandy, 76, of Morton is scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, July 28, 2008 at First Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Bob Baldree officiating.

Family will be greeting friends and relatives at Mrs. Gandy's house at 202 E. Grant from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Public viewing will be until 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Ellis Funeral Home. Burial will be in Morton Memorial cemetery in Morton.

Bonnie died Tuesday, July 22, 2008 in her residence. She was born August 5, 1931 in Bledsoe to Albert Ed and Thelma (Passmore) Sullivan. She married J.C. Gandy, Sr. in Morton on August 14, 1948. He preceded her in death on September 8, 1973. Her daughter, Linda passed away Nov. 6, 1970. Her parents and three sisters, Vera, Billie, and Joyce also preceded her in death.

She was a homemaker and a member of the First Missionary Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School. She was a leader of the Cub Scouts and Campfire Girls, and Band Booster for the Morton High School Band. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge. She and her husband were members of the Cochran County Sheriff's Posse. After raising her children she was the dietary supervisor at Cochran Memorial Hospital, where she worked for 25 years until her retirement.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, James Curtis Gandy, Jr. and Susan of Morton; daughter, Sandra Gandy of Morton; sister, Rachel Doyle of Bonham; brothers, Joe Ed Sullivan of Plainview; and Tommy Sullivan of Sherman; three grandchildren, Samuel, Benjamin, and Katherine Gandy.

Memorials may be made to First Missionary Baptist Church, 102 E. Taylor, Morton, Tx 79346.

Otho Webb

Otho "Hot Shot" Webb, 69, of Lubbock, died Tuesday, July 22, 2008 after a long and courageous battle. His big smile and tender heart will be missed by many.

He was born in Kerry, Texas, on July 14, 1939 and moved to Lubbock in 1963 where he resided. He was a loving and caring father who is survived by two sons, Jeff and Wayne Webb, both of Austin; one sister, Lavon Crabtree; three brothers, Ralph, Travis and Eldon Webb; and his best friend and companion, Laverne Williams.

He has donated his body to Texas Tech Medical School of Science for research. There will be a memorial set at a later date. On this day the Texas Rangers lost its biggest fan.

Edna Elizabeth (Wilson) Tye

Edna Elizabeth (Wilson) Tye was born March 28, 1918 in Floyd County to pioneer ranchers William Bradford and Calla Jane Wilson. Edna Beth departed this world to be with her Lord and Savior on July 23, 2008. She married William McCleskey Tye on August 1, 1937. He preceded her in death August 7, 1999. "Mammy" takes with her the hearts and love of many family and friends; most, if not all of her homemade recipes; and she was perhaps the Texas Rangers most loyal fan.

She was a lifelong homemaker - where all the kids knew they could find leftover homemade biscuits and sausage after school - a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and devoted former officer and volunteer for the American Cancer Society for over 25 years.

Left to cherish her memory are daughter, Jane Pruitt of Floydada; son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Marsha Tye of Lubbock; grandchildren, Greg Pruitt and wife Robin of Rotan; Karen Walton and husband Lance of Lubbock; Christy Parker and husband Travis of Allen; Britta Tye of Lubbock; Joshua Tye of Austin; great-grandchildren, Rachel, Emily, and Molly Pruitt; Lauren, Samantha and Lyndsey Walton; Tye, Sarah and Shelby Parker; and Patrick Codd.

She was preceded in death by her three brothers, one sister, and son-in-law, Weldon Pruitt.

Visitation will be Friday, July 25, 2008 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Moore-Rose Funeral Home in Floydada.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, July 26, 2008 in Floyd County Memorial Park with Dr. Floyd C. Bradley officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Moore-Rose Funeral Home of Floydada.

The family suggests memorials to a favorite charity or to the Coalition for Literacy in Lubbock.

Laura Pigg

Laura Pigg, 87, of Round Rock passed away Thursday, July 24, 2008 in Round Rock. She was born August 9, 1920 in Caney, Kan. She attended schools in Lubbock and graduated from Texas Tech University in 1941. Laura married Burl M. Pigg, Sr. in 1942 in Rossville, Ga. He preceded her in death January 3, 1988. She worked along side her husband and son for over 30 years at Pigg's University Jewelry. She was a member of Shepherd King Lutheran Church. A son, Burl Pigg, Jr., also preceded her in death in 2003.

Survivors include a daughter, Karen Stanfield of Round Rock; two grandchildren, Justin and Haley Stanfield, both of Austin; a great-grandchild, Alex Stanfield of Round Rock; and two sisters, Mary Harris of Lubbock and Virginia Swain of Anton.

Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 26, 2008 at Resthaven Memorial Park with Rev. Jerry Kaskela officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Sanders Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, any memorials are requested to go to the Blue Dog Rescue, 2541 S. IH35 #200, Round Rock, Tx 78664-7357.
