Zelda McAllister
Zelda Mae McAllister of Tahoka departed this life on July 23, 2008 at the age of 87 years. She was born October 22, 1920 in Boswell, Okla., to Walter and Alice (Garrett) Phillips. Zelda married
Elmer McAllister on April 22, 1939 in Big Springs and he preceded her in death on December 22, 1990. Mrs. McAllister was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Those left to cherish her memory are one daughter, Donna and husband David Ross of Atlanta; one daughter-in-law, Evangeline McAllister of Albuquerque; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. McAllister was preceded in death by her husband; parents; one son, Falcon McAllister; and five brothers.
The family will greet friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 25, 2008 at the White Funeral Home in Tahoka.
Celebration of Life Services will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday, July 26, 2008 at the First United Methodist Church in Tahoka with Rev. Marvin Gregory and Rev. Vernon Baker officiating. Interment will follow in the Nevels Memorial cemetery in Tahoka.

Delta Romaine Loney
Delta Romaine Loney, 85, of Lubbock, and formerly of Moberly, Mo., died Saturday, July 19, at Lakeside Rehab and Care Center in Lubbock.
Mrs. Loney was born Jan. 30, 1923, in Randolph County, Mo., a daughter of Benjamin Franklin and Lillie (Moore) Bradley. On Aug. 8, 1947, she married
Ralph Troy Loney, who preceded her in death.
Also preceding her in death are her parents; children, Vanda Edwards and Troy Loney; two brothers, Basil and Jim Bradley; a half-brother, Freddie Bradley, and two grandchildren, Andy Edwards and Sara English.
Survivors include children, Thesia Crooks of Libby, Mont., George Loney of Uvalde, Eva Loney of Centennial, Colo., Susan English of Ransom Canyon, and Lee Ann Loney of Alamogordo, N.M.; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Clovadell Cozad of Jacksonville, Mo.; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Loney was a member of the Church of Christ since her baptism at the age of 13. She enjoyed writing religious songs and poetry. Throughout her life, she loved God and her family dearly.
Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Cater Funeral Home Chapel, Moberly, Mo., with interment at Memorial Park cemetery. Visitation will be noon until time of service Monday at Cater Funeral Home.
Emmett J. Neal
Services for Emmett J. Neal, Sr, 74, of Lubbock, will be 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 25th, in Resthaven's Abbey Chapel. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven.
Emmett went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 21st.
He was born on April 12, 1934, in Tulsa, Okla., to John and Alva Long Neal.
Emmett attended Central High School in Tulsa. He married
Joan Hilligoss on July 4, 1953, in Tulsa. He went to work for Frito-Lay in 1964 and was transferred to the Lubbock Plant in Sept of that year. He retired in 1993 after 29 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his son, Emmett Jr., in 2005.
Survivors include his wife, Joan; daughter, Teresa Neal; and granddaughter, Taylor Elliott; a sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Charles Willige of Cookson, Okla.; and daughter-in-law, Mallory.
The family suggests memorials to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 6:30-8 p.m.
George M. Garcia
Services for George M. Garcia, 65, of Lubbock will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 25th, at the Sunset Church of Christ, 3723 34th, with Eddie Silva officiating and David Zuniga assisting. Visitation and viewing will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday, July 24th, at the Agape Funeral Chapel, 6625 W. 19th Street, Lubbock.
He died on Tuesday, July 22, 2008. He was born Sept. 27, 1942, in Richardson, N.M., to Simon Garcia and Casimira Mirabal Garcia, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Fernando and Eugene Garcia.
He was a member of the Sunset Church of Christ.
Survivors include four sisters, Irene Pena (Dee) of Lubbock, Eva Fresquez, Aurora Jaramillo (Ynes), and Mary Jane Diaz (Al), all of Roswell, N.M.; two brothers, Juan Garcia (Delma) of Roswell, and Ysidro Garcia (Pauline) of Tularosa, N.M.; one sister-in-law, Eva Garcia of Ruisdoso, N.M.; and several nieces and nephews.
George will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Gladys Wilson
May 9, 1939 - July 21, 2008
In loving memory of a beloved mother and grandmother.
Gladys was born in Lubbock, to John Greene Wilson and Margarita Torres. She resided in Texas until 1972 and then moved to Longmont, Colo. In 1990 she moved to Salem, Ore.
Some loved ones left behind are her former husband, Tony M. Jaso of Oregon; sons, Joe of Colorado, Tony Jr. of Oregon, Savino of Oregon and Jesus of Oregon; daughters, Rosa Linda of Colorado; Nancy of Oregon and Lorenza of Oregon. Surviving siblings are brothers, Willie of Oregon and Jasper of Texas; and sisters, Pauline and Jo Ann of Texas. She had 28 grandchildren and 19 great - grandchildren. She was preceded in death her two brothers, Raul and Jo Bob of Texas; sisters, Mary of Oregon, and Josie of Texas.
Gladys enjoyed her family very much along with all her grandkids. At family gatherings she enjoyed cooking for everyone. She also enjoyed spending time with friends, going to the coast and casino.
A memorial service was held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 23, 2008, at Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service.
Professor J.G. Jerry Hunt
J.G. "Jerry" Hunt, 76, of Lubbock, passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2008, at Vista Care Hospice of emphysema caused by a rare, life-long, genetic enzyme deficiency. Jerry lived many years past his life expectancy.
He was born Feb. 2, 1932, in Denver, Colo., to Newell and Rosalind Hunt. Jerry married
Donna Rose in 1956, and had three children and two grandchildren. He graduated from the University of Illinois in 1966 with a Ph.D. in Business and taught at several universities around the U.S. before settling at Texas Tech University in 1981.
Jerry had a long and prestigious career as a Professor of Management. He was a Paul Whitfield Horn Emeritus Professor and founding Director of Texas Tech's Institute for Leadership Research. He was a Fellow of the Academy of Management and the Southern Management Association and has authored, coauthored, edited, or coedited more than 20 books and monographs and over 200 articles, book chapters, and related materials. His work has been cited over 700 times in scholarly academic literature. He was a former editor of the Journal of Management and The Leadership Quarterly. He has served on the national governing board of the Academy of Management, as chair of the Academy's organizational behavior division, as president of the Southern Management Association and as chair of the Midwest Academy of Management. He won several career-long regional and national service awards and won Texas Tech's Bernie Rushing award for outstanding research. He has been a visiting professor at universities around the world. He retired in December of 2007.
He is survived by his wife Donna; son Douglas Hunt and wife Linda of St. Louis, MO; daughters Holly Darling of San Antonio and Robin Hunt of Dallas; grandchildren Adrienne Hunt and Hunter Darling; and sister Phyllis Johnson of Chassell, Michigan.
Services will be 1 p.m. Friday, July 25, at LakeRidge United Methodist Church with Pastor Dan Boyd officiating. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6:30-8 p.m. Thursday, July 24, at Resthaven Funeral Home.

Loveta H. Woods
Celebration of Life services for Loveta H. Woods, 76, of Lubbock will be 2 p.m. Friday, July 25, 2008, at Monterey Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Brown and Rev. Casey Carey officiating. Loveta went to be with her Heavenly father Monday, July 21, 2008.
Loveta was born June 14, 1932, in Hamlin, to the late Hezzy Edmond and Katie O'Hair (Greenway) Huddleston. She married
David Woods on Dec. 4, 1953, in Brownwood; he preceded her in death July 14, 1995. Loveta was a beloved wife, mom, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt. She loved life, God, her church and her family. She was an artist, poet and a great friend. Loveta was a member of Monterey Baptist Church where she attended the Sara Class.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Tommy Woods and wife Adela of Lubbock; daughters, Veta Carey and husband Doug of San Antonio, and Vickie Beene of Sapulpa, Okla.; a sister, Alice May of Weatherford, six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and her beloved poodle, Suzie.

Robert Lee Ward
Robert Lee Ward, age 73, passed away on July 22, 2008 in Floydada. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, July 25, 2008, at the First Baptist Church in Floydada officiated by Rev. Anthony D. Sisemore. Interment will follow at Floydada cemetery under the direction of the Moore-Rose Funeral Home in Floydada.
Robert was born on Oct. 8, 1934, to Mac Ward and Marguerite (Reed) Ward in El Reno, Okla. He married
Sue Bullock on March 26, 1955, in Matador. They were blessed with two children, Randall and Rhonda. Robert farmed in the Dougherty Community until he retired in 2004.
He was a lifetime member of the Amateur Trap Shooting Association and enjoyed helping teach Boy Scouts to trap shoot. Robert is a 32nd Degree Mason who was active in the Floydada Lodge. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Floydada.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Robert is survived by his wife of over 53 years, Sue Ward of Floydada; his son, Randall Ward and wife Donna of Oklahoma City; his daughter, Rhonda Mayo and husband Mark of Casa Grande, Ariz.; his brother, Richard Ward and wife Wilma of Dougherty; five grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
