Ronny Charles Willis
Ronny Charles Willis, 49, of Lubbock passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2008, at Covenant. Ronny was born Nov. 23, 1958, to Mr. Channel and Willie Mae Willis. He leaves to cherish his memory, his special friend, Elizabeth Moore; three sons, Adrian Johnson, Bobby Chiles, and Ronny Charles Willis, Jr.; six daughters, Monica Wright, Leketha Simpson, Anita Simpson, Rhonda Simpson, and Cristy Phenix; four step-children, Tanisha Ray, Brandon Ray, Virginia Moore and V. J. Moore; five sisters, one brother; 26 grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, July 25, 2008, at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Peaceful Garden cemetery under the direction of Griffin Mortuary.
Family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. today at Griffin Mortuary.
Tommy C. Lacewell
Tommy C. Lacewell, 76, of Amarillo died on Wednesday, July 23, 2008.
Graveside services will be 11a.m. Friday, July 25, 2008, at the Friona cemetery in Friona. Memorial services will be 3 p.m. Friday, July 25, 2008, at the Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.
Mr. Lacewell was born on Sept. 10, 1931, in Bonham County to Dan and Camille Lacewell. He served in the Army, serving in Korea and he coached in several towns in the South Plains. He retired in 1990 from Sudan I.S.D. He married
Mary Watson on Aug. 28, 1992.
Survivors include his wife, Mary; one son, Blake Lacewell of Dumas; his mother, Camille Lacewell of Friona; two stepsons, Keith Watson and wife Linda of Dumas, and Kent Watson and wife Toni of Amarillo; one stepdaughter, Sherie Studeville of Amarillo; one brother, Robert Lacewell and wife Martha of Abilene; and one sister, Gladys Day of Friona.
Wendell R. Tinker Bruce
Wendell R. "Tinker" Bruce, 73, of Eldorado, formerly of Ridgway, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 20, 2008, surrounded by his family and friends after a sudden short-term illness. He was born on June 26, 1935, in Ridgway, to the late Marshall "Tinker" and Maude (Akes) Bruce . On Feb. 6, 1959, he married
Shirley Thurman of Norris City. Tinker was a plant manager for Wabash Valley in Ridgway for 38 years. He was a lifetime member of Knights of Columbus and L.A. Lambert Council #1581 in Ridgway. Also, he was a volunteer fireman for Ridgway Fire Department for 39 years. He loved being with his family and friends. Tinker was a very caring person and has touched many lives throughout his lifetime. He will be sadly missed by all, especially his coffee drinking buddies.
He is survived by his daughter, Regina and Scott Artman of Eldorado; his son, Chris and Rebecca Bruce of New Deal; half brother, Harry and Anna Mae Naas of Mt. Ulla, N.C.; sister-in- law, Bonnie and Ken Kline of Bloomingdale, Ill.; brother-in-law, Jerry Leon Thurman of Xenia, Ill.; special friend, Barbara Allen of Raleigh; and seven grandchildren, Jared and Erica Bozarth, Jacqlyn and Hunter Artman, Alyssa, Kaitlyn and Jaden Bruce; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents; his wife of 38 years, Shirley; special friend, Barbara Collins; two brothers, Budd and David Bruce, and step brother, Harold Akes.
Visitation will be at Vickery Funeral Chapel in Ridgway from 3-9 p.m. Thursday, July 24th. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, July 25th, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ridgway with Father Joseph Lawler officiating. Burial will follow in Ebenezer cemetery in Norris City.
Eleanor Tasillo
Rosary service for Eleanor Tasillo, 89, of Lubbock will be 7 p.m. Sunday, July 27, 2008 in Englunds Chapel with Dennis O'Rourke officiating. Resurrection mass will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 28, 2008 at St. Elizabeth's University Historic Parish Church with Rev. Joy Thachel officiating. Burial will be Saturday, August 2, 2008 in Braddock Catholic cemetery in Braddock Hills, Pa. Arrangements are under the direction of Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.
Mrs. Tasillo died Friday, July 25, 2008. She was born April 25, 1919 in Braddock, Pa.
Eleanor married
Peter Tasillo on July 3, 1940 in Braddock. Peter preceded her in death on January 15, 1991. Eleanor was a resident of Lubbock since 1991. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters.
Eleanor's survivors include her son, Vincent and wife Jean of Lubbock; sister, Vera Carulli of North Versailles, Pa.; grandson, Anthony and wife Whitney Tasillo of Bryan; and two great-grandchildren, Ashton and Domenick Tasillo.
The family suggests memorials to St. Elizabeth's University Parish Building Fund.
The family will also have visitation at the funeral home Sunday, July 27 from 6 to 9 p.m.
Eleanor's family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to Dr. Lakhu Rohra and the medical staff of The Plaza for their medical and personal care they provided.
Sue Bessire
Mrs. Sue Bessire was born April 10, 1943 in Marin County, Calif., daughter of Wanda Winans Clayton and the late Clyde Winans.
She graduated from O'Donnell High School in May 1962 and married
David Bessire (also a graduate of O'Donnell High School) August 30, 1962. Daughters followed: Ferrel, Susan, and Jennifer.
Sue adored her family and friends. She was enthusiastic about all facets of life. She absolutely loved all music; hardly a genre she didn't appreciate or enjoy. Sue was passionate about the outdoors, water sports and golf. She was a vibrant artist as evidenced in her gardening, interior decorating, photography, sewing, and woodworking. And lastly, she found immense joy in entertaining her granddaughters, Jordan and Sydney.
Sue passed away July 24, 2008. She courageously battled eight and a half years of cancer, but during those years she was hopeful, always fighting with a tenacious spirit.
Survivors include husband, David Bessire; daughters, Ferrel Bessire, Susan Bessire, Jennifer Bessire Baer; son-in-law, Trey Baer III; granddaughters, Jordan and Sydney Baer; mother, Wanda Winans Clayton; sister, Janice Winans McWhorter; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Sue was a member of the O'Donnell First Baptist Church and Willow Park Baptist Church.

Celebration of Life Services will be 2 p.m. Monday, July 28, 2008 at the First Baptist Church in O'Donnell with Pastor Clark Bosher officiating from Willow Park Baptist Church in Aledo, Tx. Interment will be in the O'Donnell cemetery.
Arrangements are under the personal care of White Funeral Home in Tahoka.
Sheila Swinford Wright
Services for Sheila Ann Swinford Wright, 56, of Lubbock will be 1 p.m. Monday, July 28 in Resthaven's Abbey Chapel. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven.
Sheila passed away on Thursday, July 24.
She was born on Sept. 19, 1951 in Lubbock to Sammy Allen and Jimmie Ann Redwine Swinford, and graduated from Meadow High School.
She owned Aunt Norie's Bakery along with her daughter, and loved to come up with new ideas. She was a devoted mother, Nana, and friend. She had been a Foster Parent to over 15 children at Smithlawn Church of Christ and was a Mentor at Children's Home. She was a member at Monterey Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her father, and a son, Matthew Wright.
Survivors include her daughter, Jamie and husband Eric Vaughan of Lubbock; her mother, Jimmy Urban of Dumas; brother, Van and wife Mandy Swinford of Dumas; uncles and aunts, Jerry and Sylvia Swinford of Lubbock; David and Joyce Swinford of Dumas; grandson, Zachary Vaughan of Lubbock; many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Sheila requested memorials be sent to the Children's Home of Lubbock or VistaCare Hospice.
The family expresses their thanks to the wonderful staff of VistaCare Hospice for their love and care.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m.
Lester Lee Newman, Jr.
Homegoing services for Lester Lee Newman, Jr., 27, of Lubbock will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at Trinity Church, located at 7002 Canton Ave. Interment will follow in the Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park in Woodrow. Services will be under the direction of Ossie Curry Funeral Home of Lubbock.
Lester Lee Newman, Jr. left to be with our Lord and Savior on Monday, July 21, 2008. Lester was born August 17, 1980 to Lester and Sharon Newman. He was a Lifelong resident of Lubbock. He graduated from Coronado high School, where he was a standout basketball player.
He leaves to cherish his memory his parents, Lester and Sharon Newman, Sr.; one brother, Daman Newman, Sr.; grandmother, Vera Mae Johnson of Bay City; a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; and his special friends, Tom and Heather Reed and Fred and Darby Popanz.
Lester will be met on the other side of glory by his best friend and sister, Danielle; his grandparents, Alice and Johnny Johnson, Sr.; Weldon and Enolia Newman; along with his uncle, Earl Johnson; aunt and uncle, Jessie and Charlie Mae Coleman; aunts, Delores Dickson and Delorise Newman; and cousin, Andrea Maye Sardinea.
