ANDREWS (Special) Services for Maurice P. Tripplehorn, 88, of Andrews will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Christian Church with the Rev. Bob Zap officiating.
Burial will be under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.
He died Thursday, April 15, 1999, at his residence.
He was born Dec. 15, 1910, in Findlay, Ohio. He was one of five children. He graduated from Oklahoma University with a degree in petroleum engineering. He ran the West Texas operations of his family's petroleum business. In 1931, he along with his father were the first to successfully drill an oil well in Andrews County. He married
Vaughan Kelly on Oct. 5, 1937, and they lived in Andrews. She preceded him in death on April 11, 1995. He was a member of First Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Charlotte of Fort Worth; a son, Paul Tripplehorn; two brothers, Kent Tripplehorn and Bill Tripplehorn, both of Stephenville; and three grandchildren.
Velva Johnson
Services for Velva Johnson, 81, of Shallowater will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in First United Methodist Church in Shallowater with the Rev. Steve Venable and Rev. Everett Statler officiating.
Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park under direction of Rix Funeral Directors.
She died Thursday, Feb. 25, 1999, in University Medical Center.
She was born Aug. 30, 1917, in Potosi. She married
Robert Johnson on Aug. 17, 1935, in Lamesa. He died Dec. 16, 1987. She moved to Shallowater in 1937. She started the Garden Club, the Eighth Street Birthday Celebration and operated a day care center. She was active in First United Methodist Church and the Senior Citizens Activity Center Director of six years. He was named the Outstanding Senior Citizen and Sweetheart.
Survivors include two daughters, Joanne Womack of Flower Mound and Linda Stone of Lubbock; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Ava Johnson
Services for Ava Johnson, 95, of Lubbock will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Rising Star Baptist Church with the Rev. F.B. Bell officiating.

She died Tuesday, Feb. 9, 1999, in University Medical Center.
She was born Oct. 22, 1903 in Rockdale. She moved to Lubbock from Los Angeles in 1990. She was a member of Rising Star Baptist Church.
Survivors include two nephews, Carl McCellan of Fontana, Calif., and Gene McCellan of Los Angeles; and four nieces, Eunice Fulmer and Erma Manzay, both of Lubbock, Mary Moseley of Garland and Shirley Tisby of Fontana, Calif.
The family will receive friends at the A.W. Wilson Chapel from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today.
L.J. Adams
Graveside services for L.J. Adams, 78, of York Valley, Ariz., will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the City of Lubbock cemetery with the Rev. Donnie Miller officiating.
Burial will be under direction of Franklin-Bartley Funeral Home.
Adams died Tuesday, Feb. 9, 1999, in St. Joseph's Hospital in Tucson, Ariz.
He was born June 26, 1920, in Leon County. He married
Rheta Miller on Jan. 10, 1942. He attended school in Leon County, and he moved to Morenci, Ariz., from Lubbock in 1951. He was a copper mine carpenter until retiring in 1982. A daughter, Judy, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Lonnie of Tulsa, Okla.; a daughter, Sheryl Holder of Rhode Island; a sister, Hazel Spann of Lubbock; two brothers, John and Clyde "Doc," both of Lubbock; five grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services for Mark Arthur Click, 82, of Lubbock will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the City of Lubbock cemetery with Tom Lakey, pastor of First Assembly of God, officiating. The Rev. James Fortenberry will be assisting.

He died Friday, Feb. 26, 1999, in Covenant Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 16, 1916, in Wynne, Ark. He married
Kathleen Rayburn on March 21, 1939. He moved from Hobbs, N.M., to Lubbock. He worked as an automobile mechanic for many years. He was a Christian.
Survivors include a son, Matthew Arthur Click of Lakewood, Colo.; two daughters, Dixie LaQuida Hairgrove of Lubbock and Linna Joy Hill of Watauga; three brothers, Rev. James Fortenberry, Calvin Coolidge Fortenberry and Texas Best Fortenberry, all of Lubbock; a sister, Lois Edwards of Arizona; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

She was born June 30, 1929, in Denton.

She was born Oct. 2, 1914, in Montague County. She married
Edwin H. Merrell on Feb. 1, 1937, in Paducah. He died in 1991. She graduated from Paducah High School and attended Tarleton State University and Texas Tech. She was a homemaker and a Catholic. She was a member of the Shallowater Eastern Star and Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include a son, Cres of Lubbock; three daughters, Talluah Luck of Lubbock, Janice Craig of Liberty and Denise Fancher of Amarillo; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a brother, Droel Looney of Denton.
The family suggests memorials to Meals-on-Wheels in Shallowater or to Texas Boys Ranch of Lubbock.

LOCKNEY - Rosary for Isaac Gonzales Jr., 46, of Hale Center will be at 7 p.m. today in San Jose Catholic Church in Lockney.
Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the same church with the Rev. Jim McCartney, pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in Lockney cemetery under direction of Moore-Rose-White Funeral Home of Lockney.
Gonzales died Sunday, Feb. 28, 1999, in Hi-Plains Hospital in Hale Center.
He was born Nov. 24, 1952, in Lockney. He graduated from Lockney High School and attended South Plains College. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. He married
Lydia Aguirre on March 6, 1976, in Hale Center. They moved to Plainview from Lockney in 1976, and they moved to Hale Center in 1996. He was a lead man for Martins Fertilizer Co. He was a Catholic. A daughter, Amanda Gonzales, died in 1985.
Survivors include his wife; his parents, Isaac and Eustolia Gonzales of Lockney; two sons, Steven and Andrew, both of Hale Center; two daughters, Laticia and Jennifer, both of Hale Center; three brothers, Jay of Hale Center, Ricky of Lubbock and Eugene of Lockney; and a sister, Rachel Salas of Austin.
Royce Williams

Williams died Sunday, Feb. 28, 1999, in Integrated Health Services of Plainview.
He was born Jan. 11, 1924, in Monroe, Okla. He married
Wilma Hunter in Roswell, N.M., and she died April 6, 1976. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.
Survivors include three stepdaughters, Catherine Williams of Plainview, Faye Klepac of Tampa, Fla., and T.J. Tyson of Meigs, Ga.; a stepson, Raymond Phillips of Marysville, Calif.; a brother, Eugene Williams of Oklahoma City, Okla.; two sisters, Mary Lou Stephanson of Noel, Mo., and Yvonne Barber of Las Vegas, N.M.; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Edna Blanks on Dec. 11, 1929, in Marietta, Okla. He farmed and ranched in Silverton since 1942. He was a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Melba Gillihan of Silverton, Valda Ferguson of DeQueen, Ark., and Doris McDonald of Idalou; a son, Dewey of Silverton; a sister, Doris Mannewitz of Dallas; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
