Deborah Rose Davis
Deborah Rose Davis, 36, of Lubbock, died Wednesday, July 16, 2008, at Covenant Medical Center.
She was born on Oct. 23, 1971, in Alaska to Leonard and Dorine Young. She moved to Lubbock, where she became a longtime companion and wife of Derick Davis.
She is survived by her husband, Derick; and a host of other relatives and many friends.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 23, 2008, at Griffin Mortuary. Private disposition will follow after service.
Annie Hope
Annie Viola Bell Hope went to join her Heavenly family on July 21, 2008. She was born Jan. 11, 1936, to Matthew and Jewel Lee in Roswell, N.M. She married
Harrell Hope on Nov. 3, 1958, in Matador. They were blessed with a son, Calvin, the light of her life.
She looked forward to attending the Lubbock fair with Calvin and Jody to play the bull dozer games and eat foot-long corn dogs. She was a good cook and could sew even without a pattern. She enjoyed her pets, Lady, Precious and Blue Bird. She enjoyed tending to her beautiful roses. She truly enjoyed life and was always willing to help others. She enjoyed all her friends at Quaker Avenue Church of Christ and leaves them her blessings.
Special thanks to Dr. Pappas for 37 years of being her doctor.
Survivors are husband, Harrell Hope; son Calvin and wife Jody Sharp; sister, Lois and husband Narcisco Gonzales; niece, Myra and husband Ray Dobbins, nephew, Alfred Hall; and six grandkids.
At Annie's request, she will be cremated and no services are planned. Please enjoy her favorite bible passage, Mark 5:24-34.

Jose Mendoza Castro
Jose Mendoza Castro of O'Donnell departed this life on July 20, 2008, at the age of 72 years. He was born in Fentress, to Luis and Victoria (Mendoza) Castro on Feb. 27, 1936. Mr. Castro was a truck driver for TST Oilfield Services and retired in 1999. He then drove the school bus for O'Donnell ISD for six years. Jose married
Arsilia Ramos in O'Donnell on Aug.14, 1957. He was a member of Texas Game Fowl Breeders Association, United Game Breeders Association, and St. Pius X Catholic Church.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Arsilia, of 51 years, ; two daughters, Gloria and husband Victor Barrientos, and Terri and husband Nemencio Salazar, all of O'Donnell; four sons, Joel Castro and wife Rose, Albert Castro, all of O'Donnell, Jimmy Castro of Hale Center; Jerry Castro and wife Melissa of O'Donnell; 19 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Domingo Castro and wife Nancy of Grand Rapids, Mich., Alfredo Castro and wife Lupita of Lubbock, Vale Castro and wife Maria of Lowell, Mich., and Lupe Castro and wife Peggy of Florida; three sisters, Maria and husband Juan Nino of Jayton, Cande and husband Joe Hinojosa of Tyler, and Dora and husband Candelario Pena of Ropesville.
Mr. Castro was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Luis Castro.
Rosary Services will be 7 p.m., Tuesday, July 22, 2008, at St. Pius X Catholic Church in O'Donnell. Mass will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 23, 2008, at St. Pius X Catholic Church in O'Donnell with Father Teo officiating. Interment will follow in the O'Donnell cemetery.
Arrangements are under the personal care of White Funeral Home of Tahoka.
Carlos H. Thornton
Carlos H. Thornton, 80, passed away July 10, 2008. Memorial service will be 11 a.m. in the LakeRidge United Methodist Church. Entombment will be 10 a.m. Saturday in the City of Lubbock Mausoleum. His family will receive friends this evening from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
He was born November 19, 1927 in Amarillo to Clay and Lefa Thornton. He had a distinguished career in the mortgage banking industry, retiring from Lubbock National Bank in 1993.
He is survived by his wife, Lorayne Thornton; son, Dr. Stan Thornton and wife LuAnn; son, Ray Thornton, all of Lubbock; daughter, Dr. Karla Thornton and husband Moises González of Albuquerque; grandchildren; Hannah, Olivia, and Drew Thornton of Lubbock; Paco, Carson, and Iris Thornton González of Albuquerque.

John Cotton
Services for John H. Cotton, 73, of Lubbock will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 12 in Resthaven's Abbey Chapel. Entombment will follow in Resthaven Mausoleum under the direction of Resthaven.
John passed away on Wednesday, July 9.
John was born on July 13, 1934 in Snyder to Charles and Goldie Edwards Cotton. He received his Bachelor and Master's degrees from Texas Tech and married
Jody Chick in July of 1957 in San Angelo.
John was inducted into the Texas High School Coaches Association Hall of Honor in 2001. His coaching career spanned across Texas including Hart, Anton, San Angelo, Alvin, Irving, and Texas Tech, among others.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and George.
Survivors include his wife, Jody; two sons, Darrell of Stafford; and Jerry of Granger, Ind.; and six grandchildren.
A visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday.
Terry Lea Baker
Services for Terry Lea Baker, 51, of Lubbock, will be 11 a.m., Saturday, July 12, 2008, at Brownfield First Christian Church with Rev. Ken Reeder and Mike Click officiating. Burial will follow in Southland cemetery at 2:30 p.m. Saturday under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home.
Terry passed away Tuesday, July 8, 2008. at her home in Lubbock. Terry was born July 10, 1956. in Lubbock. She and her family moved to Brownfield in 1957. She graduated from Brownfield High School in 1974. She married
Thomas Baker on May 9, 1981, in Brownfield. Terry had worked for 27 years in the business office of Covenant Hospital. She was a member of the First Christian Church.
Terry is survived by her husband, Thomas of Lubbock; her parents, Robert and Sally Becker of Brownfield; two brothers, Danny Becker and wife Louisa of Flower Mound, and Joe Don Becker and wife Diane of Hurst; mother-in-law, Pauline Baker of Snyder; a niece, Hannah Becker of Flower Mound; three nephews, Turner Becker of Flower Mound, Jared and Jacob Becker of Hurst.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Lubbock or the Salvation Army.
William P. ''Bill'' Ashcraft
Services for William P. "Bill" Ashcraft, 79, of Ralls will be 2 p.m. Saturday, July 12, 2008 at Emma Church of Christ in Ralls. Burial will be in the Ralls cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls.
Survivors include his wife, Norma of Ralls; son and his wife, Perry and Merissa Ashcraft of Ralls, a daughter and her husband; Marcy and Steve Woods of Paris, a sister; Sarah Roden of Ralls; his mother-in-law, Bea Surratt of Ralls; four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Rex Allsup
Rex Allsup of Lubbock, formerly of Knox City, departed this life on July 9, 2008 at the age of 55 years. He was born on January 31, 1953 to Walter Dewitt and Betty Bratton Allsup in Mangum, Okla. Rex attended Dimmitt High School and graduated in 1971. He was a member of Gillespie Baptist Church in Knox City.
Those left to cherish his memory are one son, Jeremy Allsup of Conroe; two grandchildren, Lena and Chance Allsup; and one brother, Eddie Allsup.
He is preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; one grandson, Jeremy Allsup, Jr.; and one brother, Gene Allsup.
Memorial Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, July 12, 2008 at Gillespie Baptist Church in Knox City.
Cremation arrangements are under the personal care of White Funeral Home of Lubbock.
Richard (Rick) Dale Bassinger
Death came softly and opened the door to eternal life for Richard (Rick) Dale Bassinger, Sunday, July 6th, 2008.
Rick was born Sept. 17th, 1962. He grew up in Lubbock, attending Stewart, Western Hills, Evans and Dunbar, where he graduated in 1982.
He is survived by his sons, Nathan and Brandon Bassinger of Wilson; his parents, Richard and Bonnie Bassinger of Lubbock; his sister, Laurie Kleman and husband Kenneth of Littlefield; his niece, Kristin Miller; his nephews, Trevor Miller, Brock Kleman and Bryant Kleman of Lubbock; grandmother, Dorothy Lamb of Wolfforth; and uncles, Johnny and James Arnold of Wolfforth; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Burton and Ruth Bassinger; and grandfather, John Arnold. Rick will be remembered as a loved son, brother, grandson, Uncle and newphew. He loved his sons more than he was ever able to express. Rick worked most of his adult life for Bassinger Sandblasting Services. He was a hard worker who, even as he went through his own trials, wanted the best for those he loved. His family takes comfort in knowing that he is with his Lord and family in heaven and the trials of this world are no more.
Celebration of life services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, July 10, 2008, at Resthaven's Abbey Chapel with Rev. Ross Spencer officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
A visitation will be held from 6-7 p.m., Wednesday, July 9, 2008, at Resthaven Funeral Home.
