Jack DeArmond
Funeral services for Jack DeArmond, 72, of Levelland will be 3:30 p.m. Monday, July 7, 2008 at Austin St. Church of Christ in Levelland with Jay Kelly, minister, and Rev. Bruce Cotton, chaplain, Hospice of Lubbock, officiating. Burial will be in City of Levelland cemetery under direction of George Price Funeral Home of Levelland. He died Thursday, July 3, 2008 at Lynwood Manor in Levelland.
Born on July 27, 1935 in Spearman to Albert Jack and Bernice Raney DeArmond, he moved to Levelland in 1939. He graduated from Levelland High School and went to work for Sitton Drilling Company in 1958. He was a ham radio operator and was active with the American Cancer Society. He married
Vonnie Riley on April 22, 1954 in Levelland. He was a member of Austin Street Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his father in 1944; his mother in 1992; a son, Derl Alton DeArmond in 1982; and a brother, Jesse DeArmond.
Survivors include his wife, Vonnie DeArmond of Levelland; son, Dirk DeArmond of Graham; daughter, Debra Ann Orman Britton of Levelland; two sisters, Nancy Eck of Amarillo and Carole Smith of Dennison; seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to the Derl DeArmond Scholarship Fund, South Plains College, 1901 S. College, Levelland, Tx 79336.
Margie ''Sunny'' Mock
Family and friends will gather to celebrate the life of Margie "Sunny" Mock, 60, of Lubbock at 2:30 p.m. Monday, July 7, 2008 at Monterey Church of Christ with Greg and Speedy Faith officiating. Committal service will follow in the IOOF cemetery of Abernathy under the direction of Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. Margie died Saturday, July 5, 2008 surrounded by family and friends.
Sunny was born Nov. 24, 1947 in Plainview to John Joseph and Elma Dean (Haston) Mock. She attended schools in Muleshoe and Abernathy. After graduation, Sunny attended West Texas State College. Sunny went to work for Furr's Cafeteria Inc. in 1979. She worked in Plainview, Clovis, N.M., and in 1992, moved to Lubbock where she worked at the Furr's Cafeteria on the South Loop as General Manager. Sunny loved people and touched many lives through her 30 years working for Furr's. Mammaw, as she was lovingly called by her grandchildren, loved watching and being involved with all the activities that grandchildren and special family times bring. She was also a member of Monterey Church of Christ.
Those left to cherish Sunny's memories are her two daughters, Tracey LeeAnn Tanner and husband Allen of Lubbock; and Emily Cole and husband Jimmy of Flower Mound; grandchildren, Trey Mock and fiancée Lydia; Taylynn Tanner; Emmy Cole; Devynn Tanner; Sunny "Slade" Moore; and Lindsey Cole; a sister, JoAnn Williams and husband LeeRoy of Lubbock; a brother, .John Buddy Mock and wife Kim of Lovington, N.M.; and many special friends.
Viewing will be today from noon until 8 p.m., and Monday until noon.

William Ross Anthony
William Ross "Bill" Anthony died July 3, 2008. Bill was born in Lubbock on June 26, 1924, to Josiah Foster Anthony and Mary Ruth Cagle. He was Honor Boy at Lubbock High School in 1941 and then attended Texas Tech University until the Navy sent him to the University of Oklahoma. He graduated through the Navy V-12 Program in 1944 with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and became a Lieutenant JG in the Navy. In 1947 he solidified his professional career with his Master Plumber license and began his family through marrying Betty Ann Gilbert. Their first child, Mary Ann, was born in 1948, followed by William Jr. in 1950, John Gilbert in 1951, and Betty Jane in 1953. In 1952 he took over his father's plumbing company, Anthony Company, in Lubbock, and after successful business management, he incorporated the company as Anthony Mechanical in 1967.
His work and civic activities included President of the Mechanical Contractors Association of Texas in 1968, Chairman of the Community Planning Council for the United Way in 1984, Paul Harris Fellow with the Rotary Foundation, life member of ASHRAE, long time member of the Red Raider Club, and lifelong membership with the First Baptist Church of Lubbock, including the Timothy Class. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, and achieving a Life Master in Duplicate Bridge.
In addition to his wife and four children, Bill is survived by four grandchildren, Anthony W. Bertrand; Trent Anthony; Taryn Anthony Farmer; and Matthew Anthony; and one great-grandson, Gage Farmer. Bill is also survived by a sister, Nell Anthony Huff of Georgetown, Texas; and a brother, Joe Anthony of Lubbock. One sister, Ruth Story Thompson of Midland; and one grandchild, David Wayne Anthony, preceded Bill in death.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, July 10, 2008, at First Baptist Church in Lubbock. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that any contributions go to the building fund at First Baptist Church or to the Alzheimer's Association.
Margaret Marie Kitchens
Margaret Marie Kitchens, 87, passed away Saturday, July 05, 2008 in Levelland.
Margaret was born to Isaac and Lettie Eskew on August 12, 1920 in Union County, Ark. She retired from Furr's Supermarket in Levelland after 35 years, and then worked at Cottage Dress Shop for several years. She married
Cleo Kitchens April 16, 1938. He preceded her in death in 1967. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Nancy Stewart in 2007; an infant granddaughter, and infant grandson.
She is survived by her son, William C. Kitchens and wife Glenda of Fort Worth; son-in-law, Alvin Stewart of Ramona, Calif.; sisters, Bettye Stanley and husband J. R. of Levelland; Glindeene Bailey and husband Sam of Surprise, Ariz.; eight grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 7 at George Price Funeral Home in Levelland. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 8 in the City of Levelland cemetery with Edward Shugart officiating.
Ida Peek
Ida Peek, 87, of Lubbock, died Sunday, July 6, 2008. Funeral Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in the W.W. Rix Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Peaceful Gardens memorial park under the direction of Rix Funeral Directors. Her family will receive friends from 5:30-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mrs. Peek was born in Red River County. She was a Librarian at Texas Tech University for 20 years.
Ida is survived by two sons, James Peek of Dallas and Kenneth Peek of Annona; two daughters, Linda Lovern and Carolyn Hart of Lubbock; two sisters, Flossie Moss and Trudy Steinhour of Brownsboro; and brothers, Melvin Anderson of Avery and Edward Anderson of Lubbock. She is also by two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Sarah J. Gray
Sarah J. Gray, 62, a life-long resident of Lubbock, passed away Thursday, July 3, 2008.
Sarah was born on June 19, 1946 and graduated from Monterey High School in 1964. She attended Draughon's Business College and worked for Benton Oil Company for 33 years. She later worked for Westminster Presbyterian Church in Lubbock.
Sarah is survived by her mother, Eugenia Gray; sister, Cecilia Briggs; niece, Sarah Ellis and husband Jonathan; nephews, Gregory and Mike Briggs; great-niece, Jessica Ellis; great-nephew, Tucker Ellis; and cousin, Evelyn Davis.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, July 5, 2008 in the Hester Chapel at Westminster Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. Paul Soderquist officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

Imari Danielle Mendoza
Imari Danielle Mendoza, 3, of Lubbock, died Wednesday at Children's Hospital. Funeral Services will be 2 p.m. Monday July 7, 2008 in the Trinity Church, with Pastor Verne Rhoads officiating. Burial will follow in the City of Lubbock cemetery. Services are under the direction of Rix Funeral Directors.
Imari was born in Lubbock on March 29, 2005 to Sean Mendoza and Amber Perez. She was a Lubbock resident all of her life.
She is survived by her mother, Amber Perez; father, Sean Mendoza; grandparents, Mary Rivera, Enrique and Sandy Mendoza, all of Lubbock. Great-grandparents include Robert and Tanila Hernandez of Plainview; Senorina Mendoza of Ralls; Manuel and Dominga Mendoza of Lorenzo.

Cecil Sarratt
Services for Cecil Sarratt, 61, of Lubbock will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at The Heights Fellowship (Milwaukee and 66th Street) in Lubbock with Pastor Mike Martindale and Jason Bishop officiating. Burial will follow in the Anton cemetery.
Cecil Leon Sarratt was born on October 7, 1946 in Chandler, Ariz. He died July 3, 2008 at the Lubbock Heart Hospital surrounded by his family after a brief illness.
Cecil was constantly surrounded by loving friends. His smile came easy and laughter was never a stranger. Cecil was a member of The Heights Fellowship where he was a greeter every Sunday morning. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and participated in the monthly rides with the Nooma Riders of The Heights Fellowship. Cecil was in the Navy in the late sixties. He was a truck driver and also worked with several car dealerships.
Cecil is survived by his wife, Tina Gossett Sarratt; his mother, Gloria Sarratt of Lubbock; sons, Ty Sarratt of Salt Lake City; Joe Graves and wife Christy Graves of Lubbock; and his two precious grandchildren, Landon and Kaylee Graves. He is also survived by his in-laws, Buck and Joyce Gossett; Steve Gossett; Bucky, Sherri, Amy and Jake Gossett, all of Anton.
He was preceded in death by his father, Cecil H. Sarratt in 1968, and his grandmother, Margia M. Pyle, in 1980.
Visitation will be at Resthaven Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 7.

Neta Arterburn
Neta Arterburn went to be with the Lord in her home, 17 511 Cypress Hollow, Cypress, Texas, 77429 on June 27, 2008.
She was born on Sept. 5, 1918, to William Terrel and Elizabeth Lindsey in Morrisville, Okla. She practiced nursing in Stamford and Snyder before moving to Lubbock with her husband Bob Arterburn in 1973. She began caring for senior citizens in her home. In 1983 she started Lubbock's Country Heritage, an assisted living home,until she retired in 2003. She was devoted to caring for others.
She is survived by her sister, Jenny Christian of San Antonio; daughters, Joy Arnold and husband Ken of Orville, Calif., Sue Glass of Cypress, and Kay Boswell and husband Charles of Cypress; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 14 great great-grandchildren.
The promise of God as children of God, we will see her one day.
Memorial services to celebrate her life were held in the chapel of Klein Funeral Home on July 1, 2008, in Magnolia.
