Annie McGuire
Annie McGuire, 63, of Lubbock passed away Friday, October 10, 2088 at UMC. She was born July 30, 1945 to Mrs. Bessie and Mr. George McGuire. She was a longtime resident of Lubbock after moving from Colorado City. She worked at Texas Instruments for many years. She went on to work at the University City club and the cotton gin before she became ill. She was a member of Greater St. Luke.
Annie was preceded in death by her parents, Bessie and George McGuire; one sister, Dorothy Green; three brothers, J. D. McGuire, James McGuire, and Nollie McGuire. She leaves to mourn her two daughters, Sharon McGuire Johnson (James) and Cheryl McGuire Walker (Micheal); three sisters, Georgia Howard, Emma Edwards, and Doris Pierson; two brothers, L. J. McGuire (Francis) and Freddy McGuire; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two very special friends, Ocie Franklin and Dean Thomas; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, October 18, 2008 at Greater St. Luke. Burial will follow at City of Lubbock cemetery under the direction of Griffin Mortuary. The family will receive friends from 2 to 7 today at Griffin Mortuary.
Roy C. Oakley
Roy C. Oakley, 90, of Amarillo died Thursday, Dec. 31, 2009.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Trinity Fellowship Church chapel with the Rev. Larry Miles, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Llano cemetery East by Cox-LaGrone Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive.
Mr. Oakley was born June 15, 1919, in Durant, Okla., where he was raised. He attended and graduated from New Mexico Military Institute before serving his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He lived for many years in Amarillo, where he was retail manager and men's clothing buyer at Blackburn's and The Hub Clothiers for more than 40 years before retirement.
He enjoyed the game of golf and enjoyed playing every time had the chance. He married
Lucille Bergner on Sept. 21, 1973, in Amarillo. She passed away in 2008. Mr. Oakley was a longtime member of St. Paul United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a son, Jay Oakley and wife Laurelee of Amarillo; and two stepdaughters, Betty Womble of Spearman and Scout Bergner-Deese of Dallas.
Ann Chote
Services for Anna Louise "Ann" Chote, 87, of Ralls will be 1 p.m. Saturday, October 18, 2008 in the Ralls First Baptist Church with Rev. Floyd Haddock and Rev. Ken Bevel officiating. Burial will follow in the Ralls cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls.
Mrs. Chote passed away October 14, 2008 in Crosbyton. She was born May 5, 1921 in Ryan, Okla. to the late Bedford and Helen (Stuart) Lewis. Ann moved to Ralls in 1923 from Oklahoma and was a 1939 graduate of Ralls High School.
On September 14, 1940 she married
James M. Chote in Crosbyton. He preceded her in death on October 13, 2003.
She was a member of the Ralls First Baptist Church, the Order of the Eastern Star, the Red Hat Society, and the Ralls Chamber of Commerce. She was an accountant in Ralls, Lubbock, and Seminole from 1949 to the present.
Ann is survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and by a host of loving friends.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 5 p.m. Friday, October 17, 2008 at the funeral home.
Alma Lydia Johnson
Funeral services for Alma Lydia Johnson, 90, of Levelland will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 18, 2008 at First United Methodist Church in Levelland with Rev. Wendell Horn, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the City of Levelland cemetery under direction of George Price Funeral Home of Levelland. She died Wednesday, October 15, 2008.
She was born on August 3, 1918 in Hays County to Curt Alfred and Amalia Anna Intrau. She married
H. W. Strickland and moved to Sundown, where they both worked for the Sundown Schools. He died in 1963. She later moved to Levelland where she worked for Cook Memorial Hospital. She was the cook and dietitian for many years, where many knew her as "Strick". She met and married
H. B. Johnson in 1972. He preceded her in death on May 3, 1989. She retired from the hospital and filled her life with volunteer work.
She was named Senior Citizen of the Month by the Hockley County Senior Citizens Association where she spent numerous hours as a volunteer at the center and at the Food Box. She was also a member of Levelland Rebekah Lodge #5 and the First United Methodist Church.
She is survived by one son, Walter Curt (Buddy) Strickland and wife Becky of Hobbs, N.M.; grandchildren, Curt Strickland and wife Regina of Sundown; Danny Strickland and wife Terri of Levelland; Diane Osborn and husband Wiley of Lubbock; Aron Strickland and wife Kelli of Lubbock; Meagan Powell and husband Brandon of Hobbs, N.M.; eight great-grandchildren; and a very special friend, Linda Conte and Chinto.
Richard Anthony Cruze
Richard Anthony Cruze, 36, of Amarillo died Thursday, Dec. 31, 2009.
Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Monday in Cox-LaGrone Funeral Home Benton Chapel, 4180 Canyon Drive, with Bob Thomas officiating.
Richard was born March 7, 1973, in Paramount, Calif., to Anthony and Barbara Cruze. He attended Palmer High School in Colorado Springs, Colo. Richard had a very big heart, and it certainly showed. He had tremendous love for everyone he met, and he touched many lives. Richard always said it how it was. He was very strong-willed and never showed what pain he was going through. Richard was a very sweet and spiritual man who believed in God. He will be truly missed by all who knew him and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandmother, Carmilita Breese; his twin brother, Robert Cruze; a brother, Michael Cruze; and two sisters, Carol Corville and Liza Corville.
Survivors include his fiancee, Tina Roudebush of Amarillo; a daughter, Brooke Cruze of Amarillo; a sister, Cristine Cruze of Fort Mohavey, Ariz.; two stepsisters, Melody "Buffy" Harden of Virginia Beach, Va., and Mona Cruze of Peoria, Ill.; his grandfather, Richard Breese of Westminster, Calif.; two nephews; five nieces; and lots of family and friends from Lubbock and Crosbyton.
Bernice Buchanan
Bernice Buchanan, 94, of Lubbock, went to be with the Lord on Monday, Oct. 13, 2008, in Lubbock.
Celebration of Life Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17, 2008, at Community Christian Church in Lubbock. Entombment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be on Thursday from 6-7 p.m. at Resthaven Funeral Home.
Bernice was born on June 11, 1914, to Boy and Emma (Vlazny) Wright in Lamar, Miss. She married
John Buchanan on Dec. 26, 1933, in Butler, Miss. He preceded her in death on May 1, 2007.
Bernice owned the Colonial House in Floydada and served the Lion's Club and Rotary Club for many years. She worked as a foster parent for the Texas Youth Council from 1968 to 1976. She was a faithful member of the Community Christian Church in Lubbock.
Bernice is survived by two daughters, Karen Bedell of El Paso and Nancy Hagood and husband Dan of Lubbock; seven grandchildren, Brad Hagood, Janie Campbell, Kelly Ann Fischer, Blake Bedell, Blair Bedell, Paige Wingfield and Patrice Bedell; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Hazel Weston; and a grandson, Hunter Jennings Hagood, in November 2007.

Peyton Michael Lundberg-Holt
Peyton Michael Lundberg-Holt, infant son of Chelsea Byrum and Michael John Lundberg-Holt of Amarillo, died Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2010.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Llano cemetery East by Cox-LaGrone Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive.
Peyton was a ray of sunshine that blessed his family during the short time he was here. Peyton now is an angel sitting in the lap of Jesus Christ and will always look down on his family and will forever be in their hearts.
He was preceded in death by his great-grandmothers, Marilyn K. Lundberg and Cynthia Fegley; his great-grandfather, Papa Joe Paredes; and his great-great-grandparents, Clyde and Mary Francis Holt and Sophie Mae and Willie Lee Rice.
Survivors include his father, Michael John Lundberg-Holt of Amarillo; his mother, Chelsea Byrum of Amarillo; two half brothers, Taven Parrish-Holt and Kayden Byrum, both of Amarillo; his grandmothers, Lisa Lundberg and husband Danny Paredes of Amarillo and Lisa Roberts and husband Ken of Boynton Beach, Fla.; his grandfathers, Jim Holt and wife Becky of Fort Worth and Phillip Boyd and wife Tonya of Dumas; his great-grandparents, Jim and Wanda Holt of Muleshoe and Vernon and Rhonda Stafford of Dumas; his great-grandfather, Walter A. Lundberg of Amarillo; his great-grandmothers, Louise Jones and Mary Paredes, both of Amarillo; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Paul E. Brame
Paul E. Brame, 79, of Amarillo died Monday, Jan. 4, 2010.
Graveside services were at 2 p.m. Thursday in Westlawn cemetery in Borger. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Paramount Baptist Church with Dr. Gil Lain and Lance Herrington officiating. Arrangements are by Cox-LaGrone Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive.
Mr. Brame was born Sept. 7, 1930, in Slick, Okla., to Paul William and Ida Mary Brame. He graduated from Vernon High School in 1948 and married
Maxine Little on Oct. 26, 1957, in Rock Crossing.
He proudly served in the U.S. Army and was assigned to G2 and CID during the Korean conflict. He attended Oklahoma A&M and later earned his bachelor's degree in business and economics from Midwestern University in Wichita Falls and was six hours from completing his master's degree.
Paul owned and operated Hydra-Check Industrial Cleaning Service for many years, and he and Maxine were residents of Borger for more than 46 years.
He was a charter member of Keeler Baptist Church in Borger. He moved to Amarillo in 2003, and was a member of Paramount Baptist Church. He loved singing in church, and he loved the Lord with all his heart.
Paul was a people person with a great sense of humor. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Maxine; two sons, Eddie Brame and Dondi Brame and wife Vicki, all of Borger; two daughters, Paula Boswell and husband Bobby and Twila Compton and husband Les, all of Amarillo; nine grandchildren, Jeremy, Crista, Shanna, Josh, Brittany, Justin, Brianna, Dusty and Hannah; and two great-grandchildren, Jackson and Jericho.
