Billie Wayne Lemons
Billie Wayne Lemons, 53, of Lubbock, passed away Sunday, Oct. 12, 2008. He was born in Tyler. His hometown is Pampa, where he graduated from Pampa High School in 1973. His attended Texas A&M; University from 1973-1977, studied Psychology and Sociology, received football scholarship; made 2nd team All-Southwest Conference, two years Honorable Mention All-American, Southwestern Conference Champions 1976 and played professional football for the Cleveland Browns in 1977.
Bro. Billie became a Certified Para-Professional while working with physical and mentally handicapped children who had violent tendencies. These children attended the Borger and Pampa schools. Billie was baptized into the Lord at the age of 8. He was called to the Ministry in 1972 while still attending high school. He was very active in a ministry called, "Aggies for Christ," while attending Texas A&M; University, he went on several mission trips including Hawaii, Thailand and Japan. Billie attended the Sunset International Biblical Institute from 1978-1981. Billie was a Minister for 33 years. At the time of his death he was the pulpit Minister/ Evangelist at 20th and Birch Church of Christ in Lubbock. He came from a line of ministers. His father, Wayne Lemons has been preaching for 47 years and is presently preaching in Plainview and his brother, Frankie has been preaching for 13 years. Billie is married
to his best friend and sister in Christ, Janet Lemons. Janet is a Certified Pharmacy Technician and has just received her bachelor's degree in Social Work. She is currently working at the Children's Home as a Child Home Developer/Recruiter of foster care and adoption. Billie and Janet are the proud parents of two sons, Devin and Kolin. Billie and Janet adopted their 2nd son, Kolin Brett on Oct. 28, 2005, who is now three years old. Billie was employed with the Children's Home of Lubbock. Billie and Janet were caretakers (house parents) of 14 children in a therapeutic cottage over a period of two years and later was asked to help start and become house parents of a new ministry, which was to mentor and teach parenting skills to teenage mothers.
He is survived by his wife, Janet Lemons; two sons, Devin Lemons (Nicole) and Kolin Lemons; one daughter, Charles Johnson; two grandsons, Gabriel and Christopher; his parents, Wayne H. and Verlene Lemons; one brother, Frankie L. Lemons (Dora); father and mother-in-law, Jessie and Dorothy Conaway; one sister-in-law, Nina Anderson; three brother-in-laws, Johnnie Collins, Earnest Collins and Jessie Conaway, Jr.; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 17, 2008, at Broadway Church of Christ. Burial will follow at City of Lubbock under the direction of Griffin Mortuary.
Carolyn R. Baker
Carolyn R. Baker, 75, of Lubbock died Monday at University Medical Center. Funeral services will be Friday, October 17 in the Franklin-Bartley Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Farmington, N.M.
She was born in Montague County. She married
Bonnie E. Baker in 1948; he died in 2000. She was also preceded in death by her two children, Danny in 1986 and Connie Baker Tate in 2004.
Carolyn is survived by her mother, Kate Green of Lubbock; four grandchildren, Dede Auld of St. Louis, Gary Mayo of Ft. Lewis, Wash., David Baker of Denver and Tony Baker of Nebraska; many great-grandchildren; one sister, Diane Mitchell and a brother, Jim Green, both of Lubbock.
Connie Gale Hardeman
Connie Gale Hardeman, 56 of Lubbock passed away Saturday, Oct. 11, 2008, at Covenant. She was better known as Aunt Gale. She was born Nov. 30, 1951, to Leandrew and Lucy Dial Hardeman. Connie became a Christian at an early age and was member of Greater St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church where she participated in Sunday School, Choir, Mission, and helped with many church programs. She retired from (Grinnell) Tyco after 20 years due to health reasons.
She is survived by two brothers, Johnnie Lee Hardeman (Alberta) and Elvin Lawrence Hardeman (Carrie); six sisters, Marjorie Price (Thurman), Mary D. Stephens (Willie), Annie Louise Harris (Herbert), Vickie Lynn Hardeman, Debra Kay Williams (will), and Lucy Marie Price (Verdell); first cousin, Minnie Rogers Smith; of Never a mother herself, she helped raise four nieces: Jennifer Payton, Jaleesa Hardeman, Sierra Hodridge, and Leandrea Payton; three nephews, Gregory Hardeman, Terrell Ivory, and Jacob Hodridge; and a host other relatives and friends.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 17, 2008, at Greater St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Peaceful Garden under the direction of Griffin Mortuary.
Family will receive friends from 1-6 p.m. today at Griffin Mortuary.
Flora Maria Davila
Rosary for Flora Maria Davila, 85, of Post will be 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Mass will be 2 p.m. Friday at Holy Cross Catholic Church. The Rev. Paul Karieakatt will officiate. Interment will be at the Resthaven cemetery in Southland under the personal care of Justice-Mason Funeral Home.
Mrs. Davila died Monday at her home in Post.
Mrs. Davila was born March 9, 1923, to Agustine and Juanita (Rodriquez) Gonzales at Seguin. She was raised there and married
Edwardo Davila in 1949 at Levelland and came to the Pleasant Valley Community to live. Mr. Davila preceded her in death Feb. 27, 2007. Mrs. Davila moved to Post from Southland after Mr. Davila's death. She was a lifelong Catholic and was preceded in death by three sons, Edward Davila, Jr. in 1984, Ambrose Davila in 1990, and Steve Davila in 1993.
Survivors include one son, Roy Garza of Odessa; five daughters, Rosemary Tuck of Post, Martha McClenan of Lubbock, Dora Rodriquez of Post, Flora Mendez of Phoenix, Ariz., and Mercy Vera of Lubbock; two brothers, Arthur Gonzales of Seguin and Louis Gonzales of Kansas; one sister, Hortensia Hernandez of Seguin; 25 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren.
Wendy Frost
Wendy Frost, 33, of Amarillo died Saturday, Dec. 26, 2009.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Trinity Fellowship Church north ministry center with Kirk Bogard officiating. Burial will be in Llano cemetery by Cox-LaGrone Funeral Home. 4180 Canyon Drive.
Wendy Lyn Frost went home to be with her heavenly father on Dec. 26, 2009. She was born March 10, 1976, in Amarillo, where she was raised and lived all of her life. She was a 1994 graduate of Amarillo High School as well a graduate of Amarillo College. She was a dedicated nurse and worked for Children's Home Health Care Agency.
Wendy had a servant's heart and was always there for her family, always putting others' needs in front of her own. She loved western music, boots and jeans, and the Texas Longhorns. Most of all, she loved being a big sister to her brothers and "Winnie" to her niece and nephews whom she loved with all of her heart.
She was preceded in death by her uncle, Benny Davis, in 2004.
Survivors include her parents, Charlotte and Terry Frost of Amarillo; two brothers, Ryan Frost and Benjamin Frost and wife Erica, all of Amarillo; and her niece and nephews, Brennan, Quinten, Lexi, Benjamin Jr. and Duncan.
George M. Guy
George M. Guy, 73, of Amarillo passed away Sunday, Oct. 12, 2008. Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 17, 2008, at West Amarillo Christian Church with Pastor Jim Shelburne of Washington Avenue Christian Church, assisted by Melvin Fowler officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia.
George was born Aug.13, 1935, in Lubbock to Charles and Grace Guy. He graduated from Lubbock High School in 1953 and attended Texas Tech University from 1953-1956. He met Leslie Colleps and they had their first date on Oct. 12, 1955. They married
in Lubbock in 1956. George and Leslie were blessed with three children, Charlie, Raymond and Julie.
George was employed in the newspaper business from 1955 until 1990, both with the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal and the Amarillo-Globe News. He was the advertising director for the Amarillo-Globe News from 1983-1990. He then went to work for Paramount Terrace Christian Church, and spent his time there as the Business Administrator. He was ordained into the ministry, and his title was changed to Minister of Administration. He was a past Chairman of the Board of Paramount Terrace. He was an elder of Paramount Terrace, Washington Avenue Christian Church and West Amarillo Christian Church.
George was known for his "gentle leadership". He was extremely civic-minded, and was a member of many organizations including United Way and the Amarillo Chamber of Commerce. He was a past director of the Better Business Bureau and a long-time regent of Dallas Christian College. He was a board member of the Bivins Foundation. He was a past member of the Distributive Education Advisory Board. He was on the board of directors of the Bible Chair of the Southwest. He was a member of many industry-related organizations.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Grace; both of his brothers; and his son, Charlie.
George is survived by his loving wife, Leslie of the home; his children, Ray and wife Ginger, and Julie Helms and husband Mark, both of Amarillo; his five grandchildren, Jaclynn, Kathrine and Christina Guy and Katelynn and Stephen Helms; and many other loving family members and friends.

Brian Thomas Boland
Brian Thomas Boland, 64, of Amarillo died Thursday, Jan. 7, 2010.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday in Cox-LaGrone Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Private burial will be in Memory Gardens cemetery.
Brian was born July 6, 1945, in Dubuque, Iowa, to Joseph and Fern Boland. He was the youngest of 15 children.
He married
Shirley Kruser on Jan. 8, 1966, in Dubuque. They moved to Amarillo in 1976. He had worked on auto bodies since the age of 14 and continued that trade, as well as carpentry, for many years.
Brian Boland loved God, Jesus Christ and his family. He believed in blessing others and would give the coat off his own back if someone needed it.
He was a hard worker who lived by faith, never complained and trusted God for all things. His family is confident that he is reaping the benefits of his work on earth in heaven now. He will be dearly missed. He was a member of Victory Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Boland of Amarillo; three sons, Bryan Boland and wife Elisa and Eric Boland and wife Nicole, all of Amarillo, and Ed Boland and wife Lana of Panhandle; two daughters, Cheryl Ulch and husband Brian of Dallas, and Kelly Boland of Lubbock; nine grandchildren, Alex, Avery, Mitch, Ashley, Grason, Ryan, Ashlyn, Gavin and Bryce; his very special friends, Kenny and Jodie Striley and their children, Andrew, Madison and James, all of Amarillo.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Henry Clay Pitts
Henry Clay Pitts, Jr., 90, died Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2008, at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital.
A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, October 18 at Resthaven Memorial Park in Lubbock.
Mr. Pitts was born to Henry Clay Pitts, Sr. and Florence Fields Pitts on Nov. 17, 1917, in Guilford County. He attended Guilford High School and Summerfield First Baptist Church. He was a Chief Gunner's Mate in the Navy and served for 23 years. While in the Navy he traveled around the world (San Diego, Hawaii, Guam, Japan, Alaska, and Bering Strait). He served on the USS Raleigh and was a Pearl Harbor survivor as well as serving on the USS Burton Island Icebreaker when it arrived at Nome, Alaska, in February of 1943. No ship had ever been there in the winter.
In 1947, Henry married
Bernice Cobb of Lubbock.
He was employed by the US Post Office Service for close to 20 years. He restored a 1952 Vagabond Piper Cub air plane and won "Best Classic Restoration." He was a member of the Waco Masonic Lodge #92. Henry hit three hole-in-ones in a single month on three different golf courses when he was 85 years old. His golfing buddies, known as "The Fearsome Foursome" included John Weisner, Dennis Creamer, and Phil Curtiss.
Surviving are son, Ronald Pitts and wife Bonnie; grandson, Bryan Pitts and wife Shannon; siblings, Edith Zdunczyk of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Richard Pitts of Jamestown, N.C.; and special friend, Jackie Bobbit.
He was predeceased by his wife; parents; son, Donald Ray Pitts; and brothers, Hubert and Charles Pitts.
The family wishes to express appreciation to the staff of Brighton Gardens for the care given to Mr. Pitts.

Visitation will be held Thursday evening, October 16 from 6-8 p.m. at Forbis & Dick Guilford Chapel, which is serving the family.
