Betty Jo Morgan
Betty Jo Morgan, 76, of Amarillo died Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2009.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Westover Fellowship with Jim Guest and Kevin Deckard officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Childress cemetery in Childress by Cox-LaGrone Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive.
Mrs. Morgan was born Nov. 28, 1933, in Carey to R. B. and Pauline Howard. She graduated from Childress High School and married
Sonny Morgan on June 29, 1950, in Childress. She and her family lived in Redding, Calif., for several years and moved back to Amarillo in 1970. She worked for Howard's Mechanical for many years.
Betty was an avid golfer and loved playing golf and bridge with her friends. She was a charter member and past president of the Western Lone Star Senior Ladies Golf Association and also was past president of the Canyon Country Club Ladies Auxiliary. She loved spending time with her family camping and fishing in the mountains at South Fork. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved her Lord and loved her church, Westover Fellowship. She was dearly loved and will be deeply missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Sonny, in 2003; and a son, Gaylon, in 2007.
Survivors include a daughter; Connie Douglass and husband Paul of Amarillo; four grandchildren, Colten Morgan, Clay Morgan, Kristen Douglass and Bradley Douglass, all of Amarillo; four great-grandchildren, Camryn Barton, Dace Morgan, Lance French and Preston Morgan, all of Amarillo; and a brother, R. W. "Digger" Howard and wife Carolyn of Cave Creek, Ariz.
Edwin Earl Woodard
Edwin Earl Woodard, 74, of Childress passed away Saturday, Oct. 11, 2008. Visitation will be 6 a.m.-8 p.m. today at Johnson Funeral Home in Childress. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2008, at First Baptist Fellowship Hall with Mr. Billy Babcock and Rev. Randy Wilson officiating. Interment will follow at Childress cemetery.
Edwin was born May 13, 1934, in Garden Valley to Jess and Avey George Woodard. He graduated high school in Roberson, and attended Texas Municipal Police School, A&M; University and Sam Houston State for Jail Administration. Edwin served in law enforcement for 37 years, and employed with Lubbock County Sheriff's Department for 33 of those years. He was a Southern Baptist.
Edwin was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers; and five sisters.
He is survived by wife, Juanell AllisonWoodard of Childress; daughter, Nelta Allison Babcock of Lubbock; son, Allen Earl Woodard of Dallas; sisters, Pearl Carpenter of Clovis, N.M., and Ruth Caddell of Ralls; brother, Gene Woodard of Ralls; grandchildren, Aaron and Bryan Babcock, Katie Mitchell, and Benae and Maci Woodard; great-grandchild, Avey Mitchell; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Margaret Delight Jackson
Margaret Delight Jackson, 88, of Amarillo died Friday, Dec. 25, 2009.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in St. Paul Methodist Church with the Rev. Perry Hunsaker officiating. Burial will be in Llano cemetery by Cox-LaGrone Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive.
Mrs. Jackson was born May 26, 1921, in Yale, Okla., to John and Flossie Bennington. She graduated from Yale High School and attended business school in Stillwater, Okla.
She married
Eldon Jackson on Aug. 24, 1941, in Yale, Okla. They were married
66 years and were blessed with three sons and a daughter.
Margaret lived in Amarillo for 56 years and was a charter member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and was the church secretary for 23 years. She was active in the St. Paul sanctuary choir, played the hand bells, and was in the Sweet Adelines chorus for 26 years. She enjoyed traveling, playing games, reading and sewing.
The family extends its gratitude to The Cottages at Quail Creek and Hospice Care of the Southwest for their wonderful care.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eldon Jackson; a son, David Jackson; and a sister, LaVern White.
Survivors include two sons, John Jackson and wife Janelle and Gary Jackson and wife Nancy, all of Amarillo; a daughter, Beverly Brohlin and husband Bill of Amarillo; nine grandchildren, Paul Brohlin of Parker, Chris Jackson, Holley Smith, Heather Lafferty, Tiffany McDaniel, Jennifer Smith and Eric Jackson, all of Amarillo, Ryan Jackson of Dalhart and Melissa Jackson of Austin; and 10 great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be to St. Paul United Methodist Church, 4317 W. Interstate 40, Amarillo, TX 79106; or favorite charity.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
George M. Guy
George M. Guy, 73, of Amarillo passed away Sunday, Oct. 12, 2008. Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 17, 2008, at West Amarillo Christian Church with Pastor Jim Shelburne of Washington Avenue Christian Church, assisted by Melvin Fowler officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia.
George was born Aug.13, 1935, in Lubbock to Charles and Grace Guy. He graduated from Lubbock High School in 1953 and attended Texas Tech University from 1953-1956. He met Leslie Colleps and they had their first date on Oct. 12, 1955. They married
in Lubbock in 1956. George and Leslie were blessed with three children, Charlie, Raymond and Julie.
George was employed in the newspaper business from 1955 until 1990, both with the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal and the Amarillo-Globe News. He was the advertising director for the Amarillo-Globe News from 1983-1990. He then went to work for Paramount Terrace Christian Church, and spent his time there as the Business Administrator. He was ordained into the ministry, and his title was changed to Minister of Administration. He was a past Chairman of the Board of Paramount Terrace. He was an elder of Paramount Terrace, Washington Avenue Christian Church and West Amarillo Christian Church.
George was known for his "gentle leadership". He was extremely civic-minded, and was a member of many organizations including United Way and the Amarillo Chamber of Commerce. He was a past director of the Better Business Bureau and a long-time regent of Dallas Christian College. He was a board member of the Bivins Foundation. He was a past member of the Distributive Education Advisory Board. He was on the board of directors of the Bible Chair of the Southwest. He was a member of many industry-related organizations.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Grace; both of his brothers; and his son, Charlie.
George is survived by his loving wife, Leslie of the home; his children, Ray and wife Ginger, and Julie Helms and husband Mark, both of Amarillo; his five grandchildren, Jaclynn, Kathrine and Christina Guy and Katelynn and Stephen Helms; and many other loving family members and friends.

Grady Sizemore
Grady Sizemore, 67, of Amarillo died Monday, Dec. 28, 2009.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in Cox-LaGrone Funeral Home Benton Chapel, 4180 Canyon Drive. Burial will be in Memory Gardens cemetery.
Grady was born Feb. 5, 1942, in Cheyenne, Okla., to Arthur and Mittie Sizemore. Grady married
Jo Ann Keeton on Aug. 21, 1959, in Amarillo, and they recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Grady retired from Asarco in 1997 after 32 years with the company.
He and Jo Ann were members of the Panhandle Ole Time Bluegrass Music Club since the late 1980s. Grady loved to play his guitar and when he did, he always said, "I'm pickin' and grinnin." Grady was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, who adored his family and the time he spent with each and every one of them. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Billy Sizemore.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Jo Ann Sizemore; two daughters, Sonya Comstock and husband Charlie of Amarillo and Sharlina Yarman and husband Ken of Midland; a son, Greg Sizemore and wife Kim of Amarillo; two brothers, A.D. Sizemore and wife Lola of Little Rock, Ark., and Orvile Sizemore and wife Barbara of Wisconsin; three sisters, Verdene Earl of Foss, Okla., Maxine Schmitd of Rocky, Okla., and Mae Dunlap of Elk City, Okla.; three granddaughters, Jamanda Steinman and husband Matt and Lacie Sizemore, all of Amarillo, and Chelsea Trevino of Midland; four grandsons, Jeremy Barrera and girlfriend Jenny, Shane Trevino and Beau Yarman, all of Midland, and Dallas Sizemore of Amarillo; and three great-grandchildren, Taelore Tenorio, Riley Steinman and Jered Barrera.
Anne Winkler
Anne Winkler, 79, of Lubbock passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2008, in the presence of her loving husband, Herald. Anne was born on April 26, 1929, in Memphis, Tenn. Her family very soon after moved to Dallas, where she was raised. She met Herald in 1944, fell in love, and they were married
on Jan. 29, 1949. They were blessed to have experienced an uninterrupted loving and committed relationship for the duration of their marriage together. Herald and Anne have lived in Lubbock since they moved here in 1970 when Herald took up the position of chairman of the Petroleum Department at Texas Tech University.
Along with Herald, Anne is survived by their two children, Karen, 57, and Steven, 55, both of whom now reside in Oregon. In addition, Anne is survived by her sister, Barbara Shea; nieces, Kathryn and Lisa Shea; nephews, Tim and Kevin Shea, and their children. Anne will be deeply missed by not only her family but the many others who knew her. She had a quality of inherent kindness, openness, and innocence to her presence that could not be missed, touching all who knew her.
A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 16, 2008, at the Lake Ridge Chapel in Lubbock with Pastor Richard Grubbs officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorials to be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 4400 N. Big Spring #C-32, Midland, Texas 79705 or charity of choice.
Tommy Lee Crutchfield
Tommy Lee Crutchfield, 73, of Amarillo died Friday, Dec. 25, 2009, in Irving.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Cox-LaGrone Funeral Home Benton Chapel, 4180 Canyon Drive. Burial will be in Dreamland cemetery.
Tommy was born April 10, 1936, in Clarendon to Grady and Lula May Crutchfield. Since he was a tiny baby, born a month prematurely, Tommy's mother made him a bed from a shoe box.
Tommy was a lifelong entrepreneur beginning with his first job running a newspaper route at 8 years old. Later he would shine shoes to earn enough money to see movies at the local theater.
Tommy was raised in and was a longtime resident of Amarillo. He graduated from Amarillo High School.
As an adult, Tommy owned many businesses including a drive-in restaurant, gas station, public swimming pool and a satellite TV store.
While Tommy owned a gas station in Vega, he met a farmer who introduced him to the game of golf. He was immediately hooked on the sport and became an avid golfer. He made many good friends through the years who shared his love of the sport.
In 1997, Tommy married
Ettie Walker, and they moved to the Dallas area. They bought a rock climbing wall and enjoyed traveling to events around the country and seeing new places. They enjoyed spending time with friends and their beloved grandchildren.
Survivors include his loving wife, Ettie; two sons, Randy Crutchfield and Brent Crutchfield; a stepson, Jimmy Walker and wife Nancy; a stepdaughter, Brenda Chavez and husband Jimmy; his mother, Lula May Crutchfield; two brothers, Ricky Crutchfield and Jerry Crutchfield and wife Diane; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
