Brad Langford
Bradley Dale "Brad" Langford, 46, of Amarillo, passed away on Feb. 1, 2010. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Friday, Feb. 5, 2010 at the Church at Quail Creek with Charlie Cox officiating. Burial will be at the Llano cemetery by Cox-LaGrone Funeral Home of Amarillo.
Brad was born and raised in Amarillo and lived there all of his life. He passed away on Monday after a two year battle with A.L.S. (Lou Gehrig's disease). He fought the disease with everything he had and was always the first to laugh and make jokes concerning his condition. He was a 1982 graduate of Amarillo High School. He went to work for Southwestern Public Service as a meter reader right out of high school and worked for the company until his medical retirement in 2009. He married
Corie Johnson on Jan. 24, 2004 in Amarillo. Brad loved life. He loved motorcycles, spending time at the river and his dogs "Elvis" and "Pete". He loved shooting his guns and being with friends. He had a great laugh, a huge heart and will be dearly missed by many who loved him.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Adell Hampton, and his father, Malcolm Langford, and his grandparents, Lex and Marie Ray.
Survivors include his wife, Corie of Amarillo; one son, Tye Curtis Johnson of Amarillo, and his dad, Wayne Hampton and wife Lupe of Mocksville, N.C.; one brother, Mark Langford; and one sister, Stacy Langford. He is also survived by his three stepbrothers, Joseph Guzman, Greg Guzman and Barret Guzman
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6 until 8 p.m.
Jo Carmen
Jo Carmen, 85, of Amarillo died Sunday, June 13, 2010.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Cox-LaGrone Funeral Home Benton Chapel. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Fairview cemetery in Memphis by Cox-LaGrone Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive.
Mrs. Carmen was born Dec. 5, 1924, in Electra to Ara Jean and Creed Lamb. She moved with her family to Memphis in 1927, where she was a 1942 graduate of Memphis High School. She married
Don Carmen on June 18, 1952, in Memphis. He passed away in 1972. She lived in Memphis most of her life, serving as Hall County tax collector for many years. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Memphis.
Mrs. Carmen moved to Amarillo in 1984 to be closer to her children. After moving to Amarillo, she joined The Church at Quail Creek where she was active in her Sunday school class. She enjoyed sports, watching the Dallas Cowboys, knitting for her family, and her Thursday card group. Most of all she loved being "Jody" to her children, grandchildren and great-granddaughter. She will always be remembered for her loving spirit, honesty and straightforwardness coupled with her great sense of humor.
Mrs. Carmen was preceded in death by a brother, Creed Lamb; and two sisters, Jean Dewlen and Mildred Mothershed.
Survivors include a daughter, Kathy Carmen Burnett and husband Bruce of Amarillo; a son, John Carmen and wife Sally of Grapevine; two grandchildren, Ross Carmen and Marie Carmen; a great-granddaughter, Kyli Brooke Carmen; and a sister, Evelyn Buchanan of Augusta, Ga.

Teddie J. Ward
Teddie J. Ward passed away on Oct. 9, 2009 in Lubbock, Texas. She was born in Dallas, Texas on Jan. 21, 1933, to John and Mary (Pevey) Garrison. She married
Clovis Ward on Dec. 3, 1949.
Teddie is survived by her husband, Clovis of Lubbock; sons, Michael and wife Cathy Ward of Crosby County, Texas and Randy and wife Pat Ward of Lubbock; and daughter, Deborah and husband Roy Ward of Lubbock. She will also be missed by her two grandsons and three granddaughters.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, Oct. 12, 2009 at Resthaven Memorial Park. The family will receive friends and loved ones today from 4 to 5 p.m. at Resthaven Funeral Home.
Jimmy Leon Townsend
Jimmy Leon Townsend, 70, passed away peacefully into the arms of the Lord with his loving family by his side on Oct. 8, 2009.
Jimmy was born in Memphis, Texas on Aug. 24, 1939, and lived in Lubbock the majority of his life. He served in the United States Air Force as an air craft electrician. Jimmy was employed as a journeyman electrician until his retirement. He was a member of Lubbock Union 850.
He is survived by Judy, the love of his life of 44 years; beloved daughters, Vicki King and husband Osby, and Jill Holland; son, James; brother, Dennis and wife Amber; mother-in-law, Sue Collins; sister-in-law, Barbara and husband Jack Seal; grandchildren, Ashley, Joshua, Kelsey, Delaney, Lacey and Jordan; great-grandchildren, Nathaniel and Nareigha; and many nieces and nephews.
Beyond his love for his family, was his passion for hunting and fishing and his relationship with his extended family and friends.
Viewing will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home today from 4 to 6 p.m. Celebration of Life services will be 11 a.m., Monday, Oct. 12, 2009 at Trinity Church.

Larry Carper
Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers will host a gathering of family and friends to celebrate the life of Larry Carper on Monday, Oct. 12, 2009 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Services will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2009 in Christ Lutheran Church with burial following in Resthaven Memorial Park. Mr. Carper died on Thursday, Oct. 8, 2009.
He was born on April 13, 1939 in McCune, Kan. to the late Tom and Mildred (Whitlock) Carper. Larry graduated from Phillips High School, where he played football and was a part of a championship winning season. He graduated from TCU with a Bachelor's degree in Business. Larry met and married
Jerri Darby on Dec. 20, 1959 in Borger. Larry served in the Active Reserves for the U.S. Army for six years. He worked in sales for several Food Brokers over his career of 45 years, retiring in December of 2008. Larry was a member of the Monterey Football Booster Club, only missing 15 games in 25 football seasons. Many fans knew him as "Mr. Monterey". He was an avid gardener and an active part of his grandchildren's lives. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church.
Those left to cherish his memories are his wife of 50 years, Jerri; daughter, Shannon White; son, Michael Carper and wife Amy, all of Lubbock; five grandchildren, Joshua White, Brooke Hardy, Wezly Carper, Riley Carper and Jake Carper; a brother, Bryan Carper of Colorado; along with numerous other beloved family members and his dogs, Walter, Mitchell and JD.

Mary K. Usry
Mary K. Usry passed from this life on Monday evening, Oct. 5, 2009, in Texas City, with her daughters at her side.
Born on June 23, 1916 in Jacksonville, Ala., Mary had been a longtime resident of Lubbock, until her move to League City two years ago. An 8th grade English Teacher with Lubbock I.S.D. for over 35 years, Mary was beloved by her students. She was a member of St. John's Methodist Church, and the Usry's owned Usry Printing Company in Lubbock for years. An accomplished artist and poetry writer, she enjoyed reading and traveling with her family.
preceded in death by her beloved husband, Raleigh S. Usry, and her parents, John B. and Mary Ann Louvenia (Jones) Kilpatrick, she is survived by her daughters, Joanna Usry Sharp and fiancé James P. Dawson of League City and Kathleen Usry Radinsky and husband Thomas of Denver, Colo.; grandchildren, Karen Anne and Sam Meadows of League City, Webster David and Jane Sharp of Waco, Don Allen and LeAnne Sharp of Raleigh, N.C., Glenn L. Radinsky of Levinworth, Kan. and Wayne L. Radinsky of Denver, Colo.; great-grandchildren, Samantha Meadows, Kadie Meadows, Kelli Sharp, Christopher Sharp and Eden Li Sharp.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2009 at Midway Church of Christ in Hitchcock, with Mr. Russell McLaughlin officiating. A private cremation was conducted under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home of Hitchcock, Texas.
Donations may be made to the Mary K. Usry Memorial Fund at Gulf Coast Educators Federal Credit Union, 1120 W. Main, League City, TX 77573. These donations will be used to make a presentation in her name to the J. T. Hutchinson Intermediate School in Lubbock, where Mary taught for many years.
Mary will be missed.
Joe Bob Miller
Born to Wesley Floyd and Frances Miller in Ralls on Sept. 28, 1945, Joe Bob was raised in the small farm communities of Robertson and Lorenzo. He was baptized as a young teen at Robertson Baptist Church. In 1980, he moved to Lake Texhoma and worked at Sheppard AFB Annex for 25 years. He was presently employed at Rock Creek Resort.
He is survived by his mother, Frances; seven sisters, Catherine, Judy, Shirley, Peggy, Carol, Tammy and Lorie; and his faithful little buddy, Shorty. Joe Bob passed away on Oct. 8, 2009 at Sherman.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 12, 2009 at the Ralls cemetery Chapel with Rev. Wes Collins officiating. Burial will be in the Ralls cemetery under the direction of Adams Funeral Home of Lorenzo.
Juan Padilla
Celebration of Life services for Juan Padilla, 77, of Lubbock will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2009 at Iglesia Bautista Templo with Rev. Israel Guel officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. A visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m., Monday, Oct. 12, 2009 at Resthaven Funeral Home. Juan passed away on Friday, Oct. 9, 2009 in Lubbock.
Juan Padilla was born on Nov. 9, 1931 in New Braunfels, Texas to the late Antonio and Canuta Padilla. He married
the love of his life, Elida Ortiz, on April 7, 1951 in Sandia, Texas. Juan was a member of Igelsia de la Communidad.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Elida; children, Oralia Sanchez and husband Raul, Juan Padilla, Jr. and wife Nancy, Noelia Cavazos and husband Johnny, and David Padilla; nine grandchildren; and five and a half great-grandchildren.
Jackie Piercy
Jackie Piercy, of Lubbock, passed away on Friday, Oct. 9, 2009. Mass of Resurrection celebrating her life will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, Oct. 12, 2009 at Christ the King Cathedral with Monsignor Ben Kasteel as celebrant. Rosary will be recited this evening at 7 p.m. in the W.W. Rix Chapel, following a visitation from 6 p.m. until service time. Burial will follow in the City of Lubbock cemetery.
Jackie was born in Slaton, Texas to Collin and Ella (Hogue) Myatt. She attended schools in Dodge City, Kan., where she graduated from St. Mary of the Plains Academy. She returned to Lubbock in 1945. She married
B.H. "Bill" Piercy on Oct. 29, 1949 in Roswell, N.M. She was a charter member of Christ the King Cathedral, Christ the King Women's Organization and St. Mary's Auxiliary. She was also an active member of the Lubbock Women's Club.
Throughout her life, she was a loving wife and mother, an amazing grandmother and a treasured friend. She will be missed by all of us whose lives were touched by her kindness and generosity.
She is survived by her two sons, Mark Piercy and wife Jonnette and Scott Piercy and wife Jane, of Lubbock; two daughters, Blair Adams and husband Robert of Dallas and Stacie George and husband David of Lubbock; seven grandchildren, Aundrea Henderson, Drew Adams, Ashley Piercy, Meghan George, Tyler George, Spenser Piercy and Samantha Piercy; and one great-granddaughter, Peyton Henderson. She was preceded in death by her husband, B.H. "Bill" Piercy; and three sisters.
