Faye Bufe
Services for Faye Bufe, 82, of Hale Center, Texas, will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, Oct. 12, 2009 in the Abernathy Church of Christ with Steve Gauntt and David Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in the Abernathy cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Abernathy. Mrs. Bufe died on Friday, Oct. 9, 2009, in Lubbock.
She was born on Jan. 15, 1927 in Olney, Texas, and married
Wilford Bufe on Feb. 5, 1944 in New Deal, Texas. They moved their family to Hale County in 1951 from the New Deal area. She was a member of the Hale Center Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by a brother, Travis Jennings; and a granddaughter, Lori Bufe, on Aug. 30, 2009.
She is survived by her husband, Wilford Bufe of Hale Center; two sons, Howard Bufe of Dallas and Harold Bufe and wife Linda of Abernathy; two grandchildren, Cheri Liess and husband Jake and Ryan Bufe and wife Ashley of Abernathy; and three great-grandchildren, Taelor and Addison Liess and Brock Bufe, all of Abernathy.

William C. “Dub” McCarty
Dub McCarty, 79, of Athens died May 22, 2009 in Athens. He was born June 13, 1929 in Scurry County to Maggie Mae and Dorsey McCarty.
In 1985, Dub took early retirement from a career in corporate group insurance management in Dallas to begin a fire and casualty insurance business in Cedar Creek, later opening an additional office in Athens.
Throughout his life, Dub made community service and camaraderie an essential focus in his life. While in Cedar Creek, he served as president of the Cedar Creek Chamber of Commerce and was a driving force in the establishment of the Cedar Creek Library and became a member of the initial library board of directors.
He also presided over the Cedar Creek Kiwanis Club and was Division 26 Lieutenant Governor for two terms. The Cedar Creek Chamber of Commerce bestowed a Lifetime Achievement Award to Dub for his dedication and service to the community. Dub chaired the Henderson County Republican Party for eight years until 2007.
In 1999, he and his wife JoAnn moved to Athens. Without delay, they were both active in the Athens community, with Dub becoming the secretary-treasurer of the Athens Kiwanis Club and a member of the Athens Rotary Club. Dub was a big supporter of the Kiwanis annual pancake breakfast and chili supper. He was a member of the advisory committee for the most recent expansion of the Henderson County Jail.
Dub was a member of the Scottish Rite, Eastern Star, and a 32nd Degree Mason for more than 50 years. He also served as the Order of DeMolay Dad in Lamesa, and was a long-time Boy Scout troop leader in that community.
He graduated from Lamesa High School and served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. Dub returned to Lamesa where he was involved in the retail clothing business, eventually owning Mac's Men's Wear.
Dub is predeceased by his parents, Maggie and Homer Griffin, and Dorsey McCarty; half-brother, Dorsey McCarty; and aunt, Emma Roberta Harbaugh.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, JoAnn; daughter, Cynthia Weatherby; grandson, Cole Weatherby; daughter, Mary Lou Kromer and husband Lanny, and his children, Kyle Kromer and Michelle Cummings, and their children, Kristen and Preston Kromer and Daniel Cummings; and half-brother, Dorval McCarty, and his sons and daughters. Dub also leaves behind his "babies," Dolly and Schipperke, and two miniature Schnauzers, Cricket and Mitzi, the orphan of his recently deceased aunt.
A memorial service and celebration of life for Dub McCarty will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 13, 2009 at the Cain Center in Athens.

Antonio De Jesus Ambriz Garcia
Prayer services for Antonio De Jesus Ambriz Garcia, 58, of Lubbock will be 7 p.m. today at Flint Avenue Baptist Church located at 900 Flint Avenue. Funeral services will be celebrated 2 p.m. Thursday at the same church with Rev. David Caballero officiating. Burial will be at Englewood cemetery under the direction of Richard Calvillo and Calvillo Funeral Home staff.
Antonio passed away Tuesday.
He was born on July 21, 1950 in Patzcuaro, Michoacan, Mexico to the late Jesus and Maria Ambriz. He moved to Lubbock coming from Slaton in 1982. He was a self-employed contractor.
Survivors include a brother, Abel Ambriz of Sunland Park, Mexico; three sisters, Sara Rodriguez and Emilia Zavala both of Lubbock, and Guadalupe Ambriz Garcia of Zaragosa, Mexico; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Garcia will be in state from 4 p.m. today at Flint Avenue Baptist Church, located at 900 N. Flint Avenue, until time of service.
Paul R. Cisneros
Paul R. Cisneros, 57, of Lorenzo, passed away on Friday, Oct. 2, 2009, in Fort Worth.

Paul was born on May 17, 1952 in Monte Alto, Texas to Pasqual and Lupe (Rincones) Cisneros. He married
Mary Salazar on May 15, 1999 in Portales, N.M. He was a truck driver for Robert Heath Trucking in Lubbock for many years.
Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Mary of Lorenzo; children, Jimmy Paul Cisneros of Walterboro, S.C., Stacey Bob Cisneros of Abilene, Sonya Sophia Cisneros of Lubbock and Jerry Lonnie Cisneros of Clovis, N.M.; stepson, Tommy Joe Sanchez of Dickens; seven grandchildren, Felicity, Josh, Amanda, Amelia and Jacob Cisneros, and Hector Tomas Flores; and a step-grandson, Anthony Sanchez.
Gary Dale Smith
Gary Dale Smith, 46, of Lubbock, died Friday, Oct. 9, 2009, at University Medical Center. Memorial services will be 2 p.m., Monday, Oct. 12, 2009 in the Franklin-Bartley Chapel. His family will receive friends Monday from 10 a.m. until service time at Franklin-Bartley.
Gary was born on Sept. 16, 1963 in Lubbock. He was a route carrier for the Avalanche-Journal, and attended 25th Street Baptist Church.
He is survived by his mother, Christine Smith; two sisters, Cindy Smith of Lubbock and Paula Robbins of Iola, Texas; and a brother, James Franklin of Lubbock.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Dale Smith; and a sister, Brenda Smith.
Johnny ''Carrol'' Blackburn
Johnny "Carrol" Blackburn, 76, of Lubbock died Friday at UMC. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Oakwood United Methodist Church. Masonic burial will follow in the City of Lubbock cemetery. His family will receive friends at Rix Funeral Directors from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Monday.
Johnny Carrol Blackburn was born March 30, 1933 in Lubbock to James and Mittlene (Russell) Blackburn. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, a letter carrier for 33 years and Scoutmaster of troop 140 for 15 years. He was a member of Mackenzie Masonic Lodge #1327 AF&AM, The Kiva Shrine, and a 32nd degree charter member of the Scottish Rite of Texas. He was a 35-year member of Oakwood United Methodist church and was a member of Overton United Methodist before their merger. He was a collector, he loved his family his church and his friends.
Mr. Blackburn is survived by his wife, Joyce; son, James E. and wife Kellie; daughter, Carolyn Green and husband David; granddaughter, Monica Gray; a sister, Rheba Campbell; and many nieces and nephews.
Arnold Mouzon Brown
He was born in Nolan on May 26, 1930 to Jess and Noba Brown. He grew up in the Nolan area and graduated from Divide High School in 1948. He married
Helen Nabers in Blackwell on March 17, 1951. He was drafted into the army and served in the Korean War from 1951 to 1953 with the 578th Combat Engineers.
He graduated from Texas Tech University with a B.S. in Agriculture Education in 1957. He taught school at Knox City ISD and Nolan ISD. He worked three year with the Soil Conservation Service. He started his career with the Farm Credit System in 1965. He spent 15 years in Levelland before transferring to Lubbock to become President and CEO of the Production Credit Association until retirement in 1986.
He served on the Terry County Water Board; Levelland Lions Club - President and Director; Plains Cotton Growers Director; Levelland ISD Scool Board; and named 1986 Farm Financier by Lubbock Chamber of Commerce.
Mr. Brown lived his life with a strong Christian faith. A loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend to many. His enjoyment of gardening, golfing, building design, traveling, and being with family and friends gave him many hours of pleasure. He never met a stranger.
He is predeceased by his parents; a sister, Clara; and a brother, JP. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 58 years, Helen of Levelland; his beloved children, Cynthia McGregor and husband Mike of Midland, Nancy Brashear and husband Brady of Levelland; his precious grandchildren, Jill Brashear Perry of Levelland, Andrew McGregor of Hobbs, N.M., Holly Brashear Condit of Lubbock, Patrick McGregor of Lubbock, and Susan Brashear of Lubbock. There was a special place in his heart for his three delightful great-grandchildren, Jaxon and Londyn Perry, and Kiley McGregor. He is survived by three sisters, Dorothy Jarrat of Lubbock, Ansa Boyd of Lovington, N.M., Mary Jo Egger of Nolan; and many nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

Jenita ''Tillie'' Nanny
Tillie Nanny was born on September 11, 1933 in Stamford to Denton and Essie Black. She graduated from Stamford High School in 1952. She married
Morris Nanny on June 30, 1955.
They lived in Hobbs, N.M. prior to moving to Lubbock in 1969 where she worked for several insurance companies, retiring in 2007. She served as President of Insurance Women of Lubbock, from 1982 to 1983.
Tillie was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Cobb of Hobbs, N.M.; brother, Warren Black of Amarillo, a brother-in-law, Joe Wash of Odessa; and her mother and father-in-law, Ruby and Lewis Nanny of Rochester.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband; two daughters, Nancy Nanny of Lubbock, Shari and husband Jeff Chambers, of Austin; a son, Mark and wife Annette of Lubbock; granddaughters, Ann-Marie and Alexandra Nanny of Lubbock, Meredith and Kate Chambers of Austin; a sister, Kay Wash of Odessa; brothers and sisters-in-laws, Rogers and Patricia Nanny of Graham, S.G. Cobb of Hobbs, N.M.; and many nieces and nephews.
Tillie went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, May 14, 2009.
Services for Tillie will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, May 18, 2009, in Resthaven's Abbey Chapel. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park
