Steven Lee May
Family and friends of Steven Lee May will gather to celebrate his 52 joy-filled years of life at 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church in Denver City. Burial will follow at Denver City Memorial Park. Services are under the direction of Ratliff Funeral Home of Denver City.
From the moment he was born on May 25, 1957, Steve sought adventure and fun in life. He was a devoted son to his parents, Larry Clifford and Lilly Lucille May of Denver City, and a beloved brother to his siblings: Gary Wayne May of Artesia, N.M., Pam May Crusan of Denver City, and Lysa Kay May, who preceded him in death. Steve was an avid motorcycle rider and enjoyed hunting and fishing with his friends and family. He joyfully married
his best friend, Linda Pettyjohn, on Oct. 19, 1981. A loyal husband and proud father, Steve provided for his family working for Wright's Refrigeration, driving a hot oil truck for Bruton, and working as a Production Tech for Oxy. He consistently reserved time for fun, coaching Little League, playing softball, and playing with his dogs, Jackson and Killer. He was the first one to arrive and last to leave at the Texas Tech football tailgate; his friends knew him by his raucous cry: "Raider! Power!" He loved to travel with his wife and was always ready for an adventure, but was just as enthusiastic about spending time with friends and family, playing lively music, eating delicious food, and laughing long and loud.
Steve is survived by his wife of 28 years, Linda May of Denver City; two sons, Justin Lee May and his wife Amy Gallagher of McKinney and Jerrick Steven May and his wife Whitney "Louise" of Lubbock; and two daughters, Stephanie Kay May of Abernathy and Jessica Starr May of Levelland. He has left a void in this world, but he has filled our hearts with love. We will celebrate his life by attempting to live ours with his joyfulness and spirit.
