Mary Bertha Albus

Mary Bertha Albus, 88, of Baytown, passed away on Thursday, January 21, 2010 at a local rehabilitation center. She and her twin sister, Rita, were born in Rhineland, Texas, on September 26, 1921, to Ferdinand Joseph Fetsch and Hedwig Ann Hannig Fetsch. She was a godly woman who was devoted to her Lord, her husband, and her children and grandchildren. She was a very hard worker. For over 50 years, she was the sole person to care for the altar and the altar linens at her church. Mrs. Albus was a multi-talented person who was a seamstress, cook, homemaker deluxe, and a wonderful grandmother to a large extended family.

preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clarence Albus; infant son, Matthew Joseph Albus; infant granddaughter, Kacie Marie; and nine brothers and sisters, she is survived by her six sons, Clarence Albus and wife, Madalyn, of Baytown, James Albus, and wife, Cecilia, of Medina, Thomas Albus, and wife, Janice, of Littlefield, Steven Albus and wife, LuAnn, of Boise City, Oklahoma, Joseph Albus and wife, Teresa, of Amarillo, and Lawrence Albus and wife, Glenda, of Old River; grandchildren, Matthew John and Melissa Albus, Rachel and Dana Davis, Aaron and Amy Albus, Daniel and Alyssa Albus, Alan and Marie Stenvall, Kevin Stenvall, and Danae and James Spurgeon, Kimberly Peters, John Peters, Stephanie Albus, Jenna and Chandler Bowers, Brody Albus, Leslie and Mike Gutz, Eric and Jill Albus, Peggy and Terry Basham and Gene Brown; great grandchildren, Mark, Micah and Arabella Davis, Sarah Albus, Chris and Tiffeny Stenvall, Erin Stenvall, Tanner and Tyler Spurgeon, Katelynn and Dylan Gutz, Cody and Casey Basham, and Addyson and Zane Brown; four great great grandchildren; brother, Fidelis Fetsch and wife, Emma Jane; sisters-in-law, Emma Fetsch and Mina Fetsch; and numerous friends and family who will deeply miss her.

The family received friends at a local visitation from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, January 21, 2010, at New Journey Church at the corner of Archer Road and N. Main Street. A visitation, with a 7 p.m. rosary, will be held on Sunday, January 24, 2010, at George C. Price Funeral Home in Levelland, Texas. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 25, 2010, at St. Phillip Neri Catholic Church in Pep, Texas. Burial will follow at St. Phillip Neri cemetery. Honoring the family as pallbearers will be her sons. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made in Mrs. Albus' memory to the church she served for 50 years, St. Phillip Neri Catholic Church, P.O. Box 395, Pep, Texas 79353.

Mary Kubacak Denzer

Rosary service for Mary Denzer, 75, of Slaton, will be held this evening at 7 p.m. in Englunds Chapel. Resurrection Mass will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2010 at Slaton's St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Englewood cemetery under the direction of Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.

Mary Denzer entered into the presence of her Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, Jan. 23, 2010.

Mary Jane Kubacak was born on March 2, 1934, near Jourdanton, Texas, to Jim and Lillie (Krajca) Kubacak. Her mother died at an early age. Jim later married Anna Gaydos. They moved their family to the Posey Community in 1944, where she attended Posey School. On Nov. 25, 1952, she married Walter Carl Denzer in St. Joseph's Catholic Church. They were the first couple to marry in the newly constructed church. She was a faithful member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, where she was involved with the Catholic Daughters, St. Joseph's Altar Society and St. Joseph's School. She was also involved with the Slaton 4-H community, a member of the Llano Estacado Emmaus Community, Ambassadors of the Flame of Mercy and the SPJST.

She enjoyed her love for the Mercy Center retreats, especially the engagement encounters and marriage retreats.

Mary was known to many in the community as the "Lunch Lady" for her cooking services career in St. Joseph's School, Slaton Care Center, Slaton Public Schools and the Mercy Center. She loved to prepare meals for all and devoted her life to it.

Those that have preceded her in death are her father, Jim Kubacak; mother, Lillie; brothers, Ikey and Jimmy; grandchildren, Christopher Steven Denzer and Daryl Douglass; her eldest son, Walter Lee; and most recently, her sister, Cecilia Ann Kubacak Steffens on Oct. 19, 2009.

Her survivors include her husband, Walter C. of Slaton; children, Judy Denzer of Slaton, and Ricky and wife Sylvia, Mary and husband Mike Beckham, Margie Douglass and Steven, all of Lubbock, Carl of Dallas, and Jeff and wife Toni of Katy; mother, Anne Kubacak of Slaton; brothers, Earnest of Bartonville, Johnny of Brady, Frank of Lubbock and Anton of Tuscalo; sisters, Betty Schaffner of Brady, Fran Ehler of Lubbock, Ann McQuiston of Decatur and Angeline Clark of Abilene; along with 17 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

David C. Tabor

Services for David C. Tabor, 64, of Woodrow, will be 2 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 28, 2010 at Sanders Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Elizabeth Abraham officiating. Burial will follow at Englewood cemetery in Slaton.

David was born on April 16, 1945, in Roxton, Texas, to Alice and Hubert Tabor. David moved to Lubbock in 1952. He graduated from Lubbock High School in 1964. He retired from auto parts sales in the Lubbock area.

David was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Zella Wallace.

Survivors include four brothers, Hubert of Lubbock, Paul and JW of Woodrow and James of Allen; seven sisters, Billie Cummings of Ft. Worth, Sue Phares, Dorothy Aycock and Janet Lusk, all of Lubbock, Patsy Dickerson of Slaton, Mary Williams of Smyer and Vicki McCrary of Woodrow; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends this evening from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Sanders Funeral Home, 1420 Main Street, Downtown Lubbock.

Brenda Cato

Brenda Cato of Lubbock departed this life on Jan. 25, 2010 at the age of 55 years.

She was born in Quanah, Texas, on May 5, 1954, to W.H. Cato and Edith (Richardson) Cato. Ms. Cato graduated from Quanah High School in 1972, Cisco Junior College in 1974 and she also attended Texas Tech University. She moved from Quanah, Texas, to Lubbock in 1980. She was employed as a Nursing Home Administrator. Brenda was a lifelong fan of the Lady Raider Basketball Team.

Those left to cherish her memory are two sons, Juan Moya and Jo Jo Wilson, both of Lubbock; one brother, James Cato of Huntsville, Ala.; one sister, Nancy Cole of Amber, Okla.; one aunt, Helen Miller of Amarillo; uncle, Charles Richardson of Arlington; four great-nephews, Colby, Chandler, Cayden and Clayton Cole; a special friend and caregiver, William Mitchell; and a lot of special nieces and nephews, many friends and co-workers, and everyone that she came in contact with.

Brenda was preceded in death by her son, Anthony Dent; her parents, W.H. Cato and Edith Richardson Cato; and beloved niece, Christie Cole.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Relay for Life in Quanah at First National Bank of Chillicothe, P.O. Box 360, Quanah, TX 79252.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Jan. 29, 2010 at White Memorial Chapel, 2210 Broadway, Lubbock.

Arrangements are under the personal care of White Funeral Home of Lubbock.

Emily Ruth Mulkey

Emily Ruth (Dirks) Mulkey, age 26, of Lubbock, left this life on Wednesday morning, January 27, 2010. She passed away at UAB Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama from a lifetime battle with Cystic Fibrosis. Although she is leaving behind a deep void on this earth, she is breathing deeply in heaven and no longer in pain. Emily's legacy is a life spent pursuing her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in the midst of brokenness and pain, joy and hope. No matter her circumstances, she chose to trust the One who created her and sustained her.

Emily was born in Lubbock June 25, 1983. Emily's true joy began at the age of 6 when her dad led her into a personal relationship with Christ and she was forever changed. She participated in the Lubbock Swim Team for 4 years, played piano and was active in the Melonie Park Church youth group. At 16, she was able to go to Disney World with her family through the Make -A-Wish Foundation.

While working at Chick-Fil-A, she met her future husband, Jason Mulkey. They were married on February 15, 2003. Emily experienced the miracle of motherhood on September 10, 2006. Faith was born!

Emily is survived by her loving husband, Jason, and their precious daughter, Faith; her mother, Stephanie Holland and her husband Darryl; her father, Tim Dirks; three siblings, brother Tyler, sister Callie and her husband Hayden, and brother Landon; her grandparents, James and Bonnie Newville, Mary Beth and Rex Wordelman, and Bob and Alice Vander Grift; her husband's family, Tom and Mitzi Mulkey, Juanita Johnson, Brandon and Christie Mulkey and their 6 children, Melissa and David Blann and their 3 children, all of Lubbock; as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins that loved her very much.

Visitation will be held Sunday, January 31, 2010 from 3-5 p.m. at Lake Ridge Chapel, 6025 82nd Street. The memorial service will be Monday, February 1, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at LakeRidge United Methodist Church, 4701 82nd Street, with Duke White officiating. Pallbearers will include Tyler Dirks, Landon Dirks, Brandon Mulkey, Hayden Lavo, Eric Randolph, and Matt Stallworth,

Catherine Diann Cambern

Catherine Diann Cambern, 34, of Lubbock died Sunday, March 21, 2010, at Hermann Memorial Hospital in Houston. She was born on Nov. 12, 1975, in Corpus Christi to Rhonda Wallis Cambern and Dane Cambern. Catherine had lived in the Beaumont area from three years old until college. She graduated from Hardin-Jefferson High School in Sour Lake and continued the family tradition by attending Texas Tech University where she majored in Business Administration. She remained in Lubbock where she was a loyal Red Raider.

Survivors include her parents, Rhonda and Dane Cambern of Pinewood; sisters, Courtney Cambern of Beaumont and Mandi Cambern Modderman and her husband Scott of Rowlett; grandmother, Joyce Cambern Smith of Pampa; and numerous friends, aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family members.

Her funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 25, 2010, at Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. There will be a reception following the service at Idylewild Country Club, 1100 East Pine Shadows in Pinewood. A gathering of her family and friends will begin at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 24, 2010, at Broussard's.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Monday, March 29, 2010, at Springfield cemetery in Springfield, Colorado under the direction of Rich Funeral Home, 265 W. 8th Avenue in Springfield, Colorado.

Memorial contributions may be made to Cal Farleys Boys Ranch, P.O. Box 1890, Amarillo, Texas 79174 or to Salvation Army, 2350 IH-10 East, Beaumont, Texas 77703.

Ruth Emerson

Ruth Emerson, 86, of Lubbock passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 21, 2010. Services for her will be Thursday, March 25, 2010 at W.W. Rix Chapel, at 10 a.m. with Bro. Randy Bartley officiating. Interment will follow at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park.

Mrs. Emerson was born on May 27, 1923 in Liberty, Kansas to the late James Riley and Mattie Lankford on April 11, 1940. She married D.C. Emerson in Checotah, OK. She was a member of Slide Baptist Church who had lived in Lubbock since 1954. She retired from Texas Tech as a custodial forelady in 1989.

Her husband; a daughter, Norma Rhodes; and five brothers and four sisters precede her in death.

Her son, Gerald Emerson and daughter Martha Chester; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and one sister, Georgie Nord are left to cherish her memory.

The family would like to suggest memorials be sent to Interim Hospice or Slide Baptist Church.

There will be a visitation on Wednesday, March 23, 2010 from 5 to 7 p.m.

Amy Drennan

She flew up to Heaven on the wings of an Angel. Church services for Amy Drennan age 34, of Morton is scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at the First Baptist Church of Morton with Rev. Harold Harrison and Rev. Clay Coursey officiating.

Burial will be in the City of Levelland cemetery, Levelland, Texas.

Amy died Saturday, March 20, 2010 in her residence south of Morton. She was born on Sept. 8, 1975 in Littlefield.

Amy attended the Bledsoe and Morton Schools. She graduated in 1998 from Levelland High School. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Morton. God's Little Angel loved to play cards, put puzzles together and spend time with her family.

Survivors include her parents, Terry and Sharon Drennan of Morton; brother and sister-in-law, MSgt. Chad Drennan and Jody of Canyon AFB, Clovis, N.M.; grandmother, Myrna Turney of Levelland; and two nephews, Kyle and Trevor Drennan.

Memorials may be made to Legacy of Love Hospice, 125 Marshall Howard Blvd., Littlefield, TX 79339.
