Robert Chancellor Vuicich
Robert Chancellor Vuicich, 27, of Lubbock, formerly of Sea-graves passed from this life on Aug. 23, 2006 at Covenant Medical Hospital in Lubbock after a sudden illness. Services will be held Saturday, Aug. 26, 2006 at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Seagraves. Rev. Glenn Beaver of Lubbock will officiate the service, assisted by Rev. Todd Delay, Rev. Tim Brown and Deacon Ray Almager. Burial will follow at the Gaines County cemetery in Seagraves under the direction of Mark A. Jones Funeral Directors.
Chancellor was born June 11, 1979 to Bob and Jaycene Vuicich. He graduated from Seagraves High School in 1997 and attended Texas Tech University. Chancellor was an entrepreneur and owned his own company, Window Guard USA.
Chancellor loved his family and his many friends with his whole heart. He lived each day of life with a confident and adventurous spirit, never meeting a stranger.
Chancellor is survived by his father, Bob Vuicich; his brother, Chase; and two sisters, Chelsee and Christen of Seagraves; his grandmothers, Margaret Vuicich of Seagraves and Fern Bellah of Canyon; his uncle, Mike Vuicich of Seagraves; his aunt, Melba Carmichael and husband, Tim if Seagraves; his aunt, Sheryl White and husband, Baron of El Paso; his cousins, Lyndsey, Lauren and Tyler of Seagraves and Heather of El Paso.
Chancellor was preceded in death by his mother, Jaycene Vuicich; his grandfathers, Guy Viucich of Seagraves and J.C. Bellah of Canyon.

Neven Mote, Jr.
Services for Senior Master Sgt. (Retired) Neven Mote, Jr., will be held at Sanders Funeral Home with his son-in-law, Rev. Mike Linville, officiating. Family graveside services will precede the memorial service to be held in the Funeral Home Chapel at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 20, 2010. The family will receive friends this evening at the funeral home from 6 until 8 p.m. Mr. Mote (Sarge) died at the age of 88, on Saturday, April 17, 2010.
Neven Jr. was born on Dec. 12, 1921, on a farm north of Vernon, Texas, to Lona May and Neven Mote, Sr. He graduated from Vernon High School in 1940 and entered the Army Air Corp in 1941. Signe Eknes, of Scanlon, Minn., became his bride on the 21st of May, 1948, and together they had three children.
Mr. Mote retired honorably from the United States Air Force with the rank of Senior Master Sgt. in 1962. In the 1960s, Neven operated a service station as a Dealer. In the '70s, he worked for the Lubbock City and School Tax Office as a Senior Appraiser. Later, Mr. Mote owned and operated a small sign business and retired in 1994.
As a member of Calvary Baptist Church since 1954, Mr. Mote served as a greeter, an usher and class secretary. He was a member of the VFW, the DAV, the Air Force Association and the Romeo Club. He volunteered at the Veterans Administration and the American Cancer Society for several years and, until his death, was an active volunteer with Lubbock's Meals on Wheels since 1983.
Neven Jr. was preceded in death by his wife, Signe; son, Erle; and two sisters.
Survivors include two daughters, Marilyn Linville and husband Mike of Albuquerque, N.M. and Cheryl Sanders and husband Danny of Lubbock. Affectionately known as "Papa", Mr. Mote had five grandchildren, Matt Linville and wife Melanie of Albuquerque, Becky Sanders Beadles and husband Brendan of Lubbock, Melodie Linville Carroll and husband Josh of Cypress, Calif., Mitchell Sanders of Plano, Texas, and Eric Sanders, CPL, United States Marine Corps, stationed in San Diego, Calif. Neven was also the proud great-grandfather of five, Ethan, Ryun and Aiden Carroll, Blake Beadles, and baby girl Linville, due to be born in August.
Memorials may be sent to Calvary Baptist Church, Lubbock, Texas, or to Meals on Wheels of Lubbock, Texas.
Tommy Bednarz
Rosary for Tommy Bednarz, 77, of Wilson will be Friday, April 16, 2010 at 7 p.m. in Englunds Chapel with Rev. Lawrence Hemp officiating. Resurrection Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 17, 2010, in Slaton's St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Lawrence Hemp officiating. Interment will follow in Englewood cemetery under the direction of Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton.
Tommy was born in Slaton on October 1, 1932 to Alfons and Hilda Bednarz. He lived his life in Wilson and graduated from Wilson High School in 1949. He married
the love of his life, Margaret Mary Heinrich, on January 6, 1953. He was in the U.S. Army from 1953-1955, serving in the 175th Artillery Battalion. He was stationed at Camp Rucker, AL and Fort Benning, GA and achieved the rank of Sergeant. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal.
Tommy was a lifelong farmer and carpenter and enjoyed spending time with his family after his retirement in 1998. He had a strong faith in God and lived his life accordingly. He was known as "Opa" to his grandchildren. He was loved by many and an inspiration to all who knew him.
He was a member of the Wilson Lions Club and served as club President, District Zone Chairman, Deputy District Governor, and Director of the Crippled Children's Camp in Kerrville and was awarded an Honorary Lifetime Membership. He served on the Wilson ISD School Board for 18 years. He was named Honorary Chapter Farmer to the Wilson FFA. He was a member of Catholic Life Insurance and served as branch president and State Deputy Director. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Slaton, served on the parish council, and was a past Grand Knight of Knights of Columbus. He also served on the parish council at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Wilson and on the Lynn County Appraisal Review Board. He was named Farmer of the Year in 1997.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret, and their children, Steven and Donna Bednarz of Temple, Denise and Tom Stilz of Addison, Michael and Nell Bednarz of Katy, Greg Bednarz of Amarillo, Phillip and Vivian Bednarz of Magnolia, Kathleen and Don Weaver of Lubbock, Tim and Deniece Bednarz of Arlington, Sharon and Greg Hernandez of Keller, Bryan and Rachael Bednarz of Lubbock, Justin and Dawn Bednarz of Houston, Jeff and Jennifer Bednarz of Houston, and former daughter-in-law Charmone Bednarz of Amarillo; 23 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Gladys Cutshall; son, Gary; and a granddaughter, Barbara Denise Stilz.
The family will have visitation at the funeral home Friday, April 16th from 6-7 p.m.
John Charles (Chacie) Vitz
Services for John Charles (Chacie) Vitz, 72, of Lubbock will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at the Temple Baptist Church with the Reverend Steve Miller and Mike Gilbert officiating. Interment will follow at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Sanders Funeral Home.
Mr. Vitz went to be with his Lord and Savior on April 2, 2010.
John was born July 3, 1937 in Big Spring, TX to John and Katherine Vitz. He graduated from Dumas High School in 1956 and from Texas Tech University in December of 1969. He married
Betty Davis on July 4, 1960 in Bishopville, S.C. John served in the U.S. Air Force from 1958 to 1962. He was an Internal Revenue Agent for 26 years. After retiring, he was an accountant at Pioneer Lincoln for 13 years. John was a member, treasurer and trustee for Temple Baptist Church.
John was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who spent many hours enjoying and watching his grandchildren participate in many sporting events. His favorite activity was spending time with his family.
Loved ones include his wife, Betty: daughter, Melissa Brouillette and husband Chad; son, David Vitz and wife Jennifer; grandchildren, Chase, Meagan and Maddie Brouillette, Hadley and Harrison Vitz, Briley Vitz, and Candice Felix; brothers, William and James Vitz; and sister, Charlotte McCraw.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:30 p.m., Monday at Sanders Funeral Home.
Abel (Bo, Bubba) G. Rodriguez
Funeral services for Abel (Bo, Bubba) G. Rodriguez, 40, of Lubbock, will be at 10 a.m. today at Emmanuel Worship Center with Pastor Reymundo Almaraz officiating and Pastor Carlos Rodriguez assisting. Burial will be at Peaceful Gardens cemetery under the direction of Guajardo Funeral Chapels.
Abel passed away on Friday, April 2, 2010. He was born on July 30, 1969 to David and Anita Rodriguez in Lubbock, Texas. He married
Laura Rodriguez on Aug. 11, 2001 in Lubbock.
He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Anita Rodriguez; sisters, Antonia Rubalcada and Linda Rodriguez; and brother, Bacilio Rodriguez.
Survivors include his wife, Laura; son, Urban Ortega; three daughters, Brittany Rodriguez, Christy and Kimberly Machado; two grandsons, Aden and Ethan; three brothers, David (Connie) Rodriguez, Roy (Mona) Rodriguez and Carlos (Diana) Rodriguez; three sisters, Mary (Steve) Martinez, Sylvia and Adel Rodriguez; sister-in-law, Teresa Rodriguez; and lots of nephews and nieces.
The family suggests that memorials be made to Compass Bank in lieu of flowers.
Margaret ''Gram'' Schooler
Margaret Mary Lee Schooler passed from this life on resurrection Sunday, April 4, 2010.
Margaret was born on Aug. 18, 1928 to Henry and Theadora Lee. She and her brothers, John and Bryan, were the first living set of triplets born in Omaha, Neb.
She was preceded in death by her siblings; her beloved husband, C.T. Schooler; her son, Charles, Jr.; her daughters, Mary Margaret and Debra Ann Elizabeth; and her grandsons, Sam and Charles.
Left to celebrate her life are her five remaining children, Ann Schooler, Sandra Jonas and Tom Schooler, all of Lubbock, Philomena Culpepper of Plano and Gordon Schooler of Virginia. Margaret was blessed with 11 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Gram, as she was known to all who loved her, was surrounded by her family as she took her last breath.
Memorial services will be today at Faith Christian Family Church in Lubbock at 10 a.m. with Pastor Stormy Swann officiating.
Diane Elizabeth Hall
Diane Elizabeth Hall, a life-long Lubbock resident, passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 5, 2010, after several years of serious illnesses. She was born on July 28, 1959 and was predeceased by her father, Jack R. Hall, in 1980, and by her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Furr.
Diane is survived by her mother, Shelley Hall Nelson and husband Bert Nelson of Lubbock; brother, Dr. Roy Hall and wife Sharon of Havre, Mont., and his children, Isaac of San Francisco and Rachael of Chicago; also by her sister, Dr. Katherine Hall, and her children, Brett and Avery Zibilich, all of Dallas; and by another sister, Mary Teresa Hall, and her son, Dylan of Austin, and his daughter, Kya.
She was a graduate of Lubbock Christian High School and Texas Tech. While very confined by illness for many years, Diane maintained a positive and happy attitude through her very strong Christian faith. She was known for her exceptional kindness to and concern for all with whom she came in contact, and loved caring for her two large dogs, which she called, "my children."
Visitation will be from 7 until 8 p.m. at Lake Ridge Chapel, 6025, 82nd, on Thursday, April 8, 2010. A graveside service to be conducted by Dr. Jay Horton, is scheduled for 11 a.m., Friday, April 9, 2010 at Resthaven Memorial Park on 19th St.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests any memorials be made to the Jack R. Hall Scholarship Fund at the Texas Tech University Center for the Study of Addiction and Recovery, or to a charity of choice.
James Nelson ''Jay'' Thomas
James Thomas, 34, of Lubbock, passed away on Sunday, April 4, 2010 at University Medical Center.
Services will be Thursday April 8, 2010 at 10 a.m. at New Hope Church, 10701 Indiana Avenue. The family will receive friends at Rix Funeral Directors, this evening from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
Jay was a lifetime resident of Lubbock. He graduated from Idalou High School in 1995. He was employed by FEMA and participated in the rescue and relocation of victims of hurricane Katrina. He was a member of the New Deal Fire Department
He is survived by his daughters, Jaycie Thomas and Amilee Thomas; son, Cory Thomas; father, Guy and Margie Thomas; mother, Lynda Smith; sisters, Sharon and Phillip Hernandez and Mary Beth and Brad Maxwell; grandparents, Ben and Nita Smith; nieces and nephews; and a host of good friends.
