Ridd Solomon
Ridd James Solomon of Tahoka, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, departed this life on Nov. 2, 2009 at the age of 89 years.
He was born on Aug. 16, 1920 in Oakley, Idaho to Arthur M. and Mae (Ridd) Solomon. Mr. Solomon attended school in Oakley and Burley, Idaho, he graduated in 1938. He attended Idaho State College for one year. Ridd was a Chief Pilot for FMC Corp. He married
Viola Smith in Burley in 1944, and they moved to Tahoka from Burley in 1993. She preceded him in death on Nov. 5, 2000. Mr. Solomon was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints in Brownfield, serving as ward clerk for many years. He was a member of Elks Lodge in Idaho, 8th Air Force Association, served on numerous aviation boards and he also loved golf.
Mr. Solomon served in the United Stated Army Air Corp during WWII. He was a B24 Combat Pilot, and flew 32 missions over Germany. After the war he was a Bush Pilot, crop duster, medical transport pilot and worked as Chief Pilot for FMC Corp flying modern Jets. Ridd was a pilot all of his life and flew 78 different types of aircraft.
Those left to cherish his memory are, one daughter, Susan Chiarenzelli and husband William of Easton, Conn.; one son, Jim Solomon and wife Andra of Ruidoso, N.M.; five grandchildren, Bonnie, Andy, Mike, Wes and Terri; 13 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Barbara Skyles.
He was preceded in death by his wife.
Celebration of Life services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009 at White Memorial Chapel in Tahoka, with Bishop George Manning officiating. Interment will follow in Nevels Memorial cemetery in Tahoka.
Arrangements are under the personal care of White Funeral Home in Tahoka.
Roy Herman Forehand
Roy Herman Forehand, 75, of Floydada, entered this world on Aug. 25, 1934 holding his mothers hand and left it on Nov. 1, 2009 holding Jesus' hand.
Family will greet friends this evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at Moore-Rose Funeral Home in Lockney. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009 at the Main Street Church of Christ in Lockney, with Pastor Jay Don Poindexter officiating. Burial will be held at 4 p.m. at the Weinert cemetery in Weinert, Texas, under the direction of Moore-Rose Funeral Home in Lockney.
Roy was born to George Herman Forehand and Rana Eathel Tiffee Forehand in Weinert, Texas. He attended school in Weinert and graduated from Mattson High School in 1952.
Most of his adult life was spent as a carpenter.
He was devoted to his blended family and a loyal friend to many. Roy and Joann Wilkins married
on May 6, 1954 in Roscoe, Texas. They had three children, and she preceded him in death on Sept. 13, 1978. Roy and Sandra (Sandy) Forehand were married
on Feb. 4, 1989 in Lubbock, Texas.
Survivors include his wife, Sandy Forehand of Floydada; a son, Kelly Roy Forehand and wife Brenda; daughters, Kim Forehand and Vickie Flynn, all of Amarillo; stepson, Don Horton and wife Stacy of Bend, Ore.; and grandchildren, Johnny Mack Forehand of Amarillo, Tyler Horton of Bend, Ore., Tasheena Ashton of Silver City, N.M., Sierra Horton of Bend, Ore. and Rana Forehand of Amarillo, Texas.

Claire Marie Smith
Claire Marie Smith, 91, of Lubbock, died on Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009, in Lubbock.
She was born on Feb. 28, 1918 in Big Spring, Texas, the daughter of D.B. and Claire Doak. She graduated from T.W.C. in Ft. Worth. She married
Jack M. Smith in 1944 in Stamford, Conn. She was a member of Forrest Heights United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her children, Jackye and husband Max Reich of Lubbock, Gary Don and wife Nikki of Vernon, Doak of Bethel, Conn. and Oressa and husband Larry Winton of Lubbock; seven grandchildren, Michael Smith, Jennifer Smith, Landon Winton and wife Emily, Gary Smith, Jr., Jonathan Reich, Kelly Smith and Aleisha Adair and husband Chris; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Evelyn Henry of Ft. Worth.
Services will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009, at Forrest Heights United Methodist Church. Internment will be in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Sanders Funeral Home.
The family suggests memorials to the Alzheimer's Association.
Don Clark Upshaw
Born on May 22, 1918, Don Upshaw passed away on October 31, 2009, at the age of 91. Funeral services will be held in Resthaven's Mausoleum Chapel on Saturday, November 7, at 1 p.m.
Peggy Ann Parker
Peggy Ann Parker, 76, of Shallowater, died Friday, Oct. 30, 2009 at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009 in the W.W. Rix Chapel, with Reverend John Ballard Officiating. Burial will follow in Englewood cemetery in Slaton, Texas, under the direction of Rix Funeral Directors.
Peggy was born on Jan. 13, 1933, in Slaton, to Ernest W. and Ollie (Shrum) McKaughan. She was a nurse at Methodist (now Covenant) Hospital until her retirement. She lived in Shallowater with her son, Ernie, and her brother, Dick McKaughan.
She is survived by her children, Victor Parker of California, Mary (Cindy) Parker of Lubbock, Virginia (Gina) Holdman of Louisiana and Ernest Parke of Lubbock; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Christine Kiser of Lubbock; brother, Dick McKaughan of Slaton; and many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Michael Talley; and a daughter, Linda Barrentine.
Louis Rager Jones
Louis Rager Jones, 69, formerly of Dumas, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 19, 2009, in Brownfield. Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Morrison Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Darrell Wait, pastor of First Christian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Dumas cemetery by Morrison Funeral Directors.
Louis Rager Jones was born on Oct. 7, 1940 in Amarillo, Texas, to Rager and Geneva Jones. He was a graduate of Dumas High School in 1959. He attended the University of Colorado at Boulder, Texas Tech and then farmed on the family farm. Then he went back to Texas Tech, graduated in 1971 with a Bachelor's degree, went on to earn a MBA and JD degree and finished in 1974. He practiced law in Dumas from 1974 to 1988. He was the assistant county attorney in Brownfield from 1988 to 1999. Louis then entered private practice in Brownfield from 2000 to 2002.
On July 31, 1964, he married
Jerilynn Campbell in San Saba and they celebrated their 45th anniversary this year. He loved cars, books, traveling and the mountains at Santa Fe, NM. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his father, Rager Jones, in 1994.
Survivors include his wife, Jerilynn of the home; children, Jessica Staples and husband Gavin of Weatherford, Texas, Carl Rager Jones of Tulsa, Okla., Jennifer Appel and husband Eric of Sugarland and David Jones and wife Sandy of Temple; mother, Geneva Jones; brothers, Wayne Jones and Gene Jones and wife Debbie, all of Dumas; and grandchildren, Auburn and Sydney Staples, Lauren and Connor Appel, and Charlie, Hagan and Gentry Jones.

Gordon A. Messall
Gordon A. Messall, 80, of Lubbock, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 20, 2009, at the VistaCare Hospice in Carillon House, after a lengthy illness. Celebration of Life services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009 at Christ Lutheran Church, with Pastor David Rhode officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. The family will receive guests this evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Resthaven Funeral Home.
Gordon was born on July 12, 1929 in Waterville, Minn. to August and Louise Messall. Gordon came to Lubbock in 1949 to be Stationed at Reese Air Force Base. He married
Anna Bess Slater on March 21, 1951 in Lovington, N.M. In 1953, after four years in the Air Force, Gordon went to work for Sears and Roebuck Company. He retired from Sears in 1976 after 23 years. Gordon was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church since arriving in Lubbock. He had been a member of Christ Lutheran since 1996.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Bess; parents, August and Louise Messall; brother, Ted Messall; sister, Bernice Murphy; and granddaughter, Lisa Ann Lowrance.
Those left to cherish his memory are daughters, Linda Lowrance and husband Michael of Odessa and Karen Hyatt of Lubbock; son, Ronald Gordon Messall of Lubbock; grandchildren, Chad Lowrance and wife Tammy, Tricia Hyatt and Chris Hyatt; great-grandchildren, Brendon, Carson and McKinley Lowrance; five nieces; and a brother-in-law, Eugene Murphy of Minnesota.
Joseph Wayne Glenn
Joseph Wayne Glenn, 28, of Bronte, Texas, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 20, 2009, in Fort Worth.
Memorial services will be held at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009 in Resthaven's Abbey Chapel, with Pastor Jason Thompson officiating.
Wayne was born on Feb. 22, 1981 to David Howard Glenn and Donna (Quain) Glenn in Odessa, Texas. He worked in the oil field industry.
Those left to cherish his memories are his mother, Donna Diez; father and stepmother, David and Karen Glenn; sister, Cassandra Glenn; brother, James Diez; grandmother, Pearl Quain; uncles, Robert Quain and Dean Glenn; and aunt, Helen Scott.
Ardelia ''Dale'' Mae Jordan
Graveside service for Ardelia "Dale" Mae Jordan, 81, of Lubbock, will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2009 in Resthaven Memorial Park, with Rev. Barry L. Tilley officiating. Visitation will be on this evening from 5 to 9 p.m. at Guajardo Funeral Chapels. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Guajardo Funeral Chapels.
She passed away on Sunday, Dec. 20, 2009 at Lakeridge Nursing Home. Ardelia Mae Jeffrey was born to George and Loretta Jeffrey on July 29, 1928 in Turtle Creek, WV. She moved to Texas in 1950, where she met the love of her life, Joseph "Donald" Jordan. They married
on July 22, 1951 in Tyler, Texas. Donald preceded her in death on April 8, 1995.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sister and brother-in-law, Euvalee and Stan Butler; brother and sister-in-law, Lester and Alma Mae Jeffrey; and several nieces and nephews.
