Charles Brantley
PLAINS - Services for Charles Ervin "Buddy" Brantley, 63, of Plains will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Plains with the Rev. Bill Wright officiating.
Burial will be in Plains cemetery under the direction of Head Family Funeral Home of Seagraves.
Brantley died Saturday, Feb. 13, 1999.
He was born Nov. 18, 1935, in Yoakum County near Tokio. He married
Janelle Patterson on March 14, 1953, in Plains. He attended Plains High School and farmed in Yoakum and Terry counties from 1952 to 1978. He worked for Yoakum County precinct 3 from 1982 until his death. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Plains for 39 years and served as a deacon in Baptist churches in Wellman, Tokio and Plains.
Survivors include his wife; his mother, Hattie Brantley of Plains; a brother, G.W. "Sonny" of Midlothian; three children, Richey Brantley of Midland, Rhonda Cox of Wolfforth and Randy Brantley of Wolfforth; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
The family suggests memorials to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, 8008 Slide Road, Lubbock 79424, or First Baptist Church Building Fund.
Boyd Isaacs
Services for Boyd Ray Isaacs, 61, of Lubbock will be 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Church with the Revs. Paul Jantzen and Gary Kirksey, officiating. Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Franklin-Bartley Funeral Home.
He died Saturday, July 24, 1999, at his residence.
He was born June 16, 1938, in Bay, Ark. He married
Cheryl Jones on July 17, 1971, in Lubbock. He graduated from Bay High School and received a bachelors degree from Arkansas State University. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War. He worked in the agri-chemical field. He retired from BASF in 1997 and was currently employed by Thermo-Trilogy.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Todd of Oregon, Ohio, and Thane of Memphis, Tenn.; a daughter, Michelle Nailen of Asheville, N.C.; two brothers, William of Little Rock, Ark. and John Sr. of Meridian, Miss.; a sister, Mary Anne Miller of Bay, Ark.; and seven grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to the Benevolence Fund of Trinity Church.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Jewel Johnson
Services for Jewel Johnson, 86, of Lubbock will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Abbey Chapel of Resthaven Funeral Home with the Rev. David Lance of Heritage Baptist Church officiating. David Langford of Quaker Avenue Church of Christ will assist.
Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park.
She died Monday, Feb. 22, 1999, in Covenant Medical Center.
She was born June 19, 1912, in Clarendon. She married
Julian Johnson on Jan. 18, 1944, in McAllen. She moved to Lubbock from Hereford in June 1979. She worked as a farmer in Hereford. She worked in photography for many years in McAllen.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Melissa Gulley of Lubbock and Patty White of Lubbock; a brother, Aubyn Hodges of Amarillo; a sister, Jesslyn Williams of Amarillo; and three grandchildren.
Harold Gopie
Services for Harold Lakichand Gopie, 53, of Lubbock will be at 11 a.m. today in St. John Baptist Church with the Rev. S.E. Fields officiating.
Burial will be in Peaceful Gardens cemetery in Woodrow under direction of Ossie Curry Funeral Home.
Gopie died Monday, Feb. 22, 1999, in Methodist Hospital in Lubbock.
He was born Sept. 18, 1945, in Trinidad, West Indies. He married
Alma L. Hamilton on Oct. 12, 1974, in Lubbock. He graduated from Texas Tech. He worked at Methodist Hospital as a supervisor in the MIS Department. He prepared taxes and was a bookkeeper. He was a member of St. John's Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Adrienne Gopie of Lubbock; a son, Keisen Gopie of Lubbock; four brothers, Samalal, Bass and Poolool, all of Trinidad, and Chris of New York; and four sisters, Girly of Canada and Kalohauti, Duramaday and Sahadaya, all of Trinidad; and a grandson.
Sam Mellinger
Graveside services for Sam Mellinger, 76, of Lubbock will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Shearith Israel cemetery in Dallas with the Rabbi Sidney Zimelman officiating.
Burial will be under the direction of Robertson Mueller Harper Funeral Directors.
He died Sunday, April 18, 1999, at his residence.
He was a native of Big Spring. While in Big Spring, he operated Mellinger's, a clothing store. After closing the store, he moved to Fort Worth and joined Congregation Ahavath Sholom. He later moved to Lubbock to be close to his family.
Survivors include two sons, Victor and Glenn; a sister, Ruth Mellinger Englander of Hollandale, Fla.; and three grandsons.
The family suggests memorials to Congregation Ahavath Sholom, Fort Worth, in Sam's name.
Ralph Morrison
HEREFORD - Graveside services for Ralph Morrison, 61, of Hereford will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at West Park cemetery in Hereford with the Rev. Travis Curry officiating.
Burial is under the direction of Gilliland-Watson Funeral Home.
Morrison died Sunday, Feb. 14, 1999, at Hereford Care Center.
He was born July 21, 1937, in Hereford. He attended Wesley United Methodist Church. He worked in farming and feed yard maintenance and served in the U.S. Air Force in Vietnam.
Survivors include a son, Joseph Morrison of Amarillo; his mother, Mary Morrison of Hereford; three sisters, Mary Lynn Heddins and Marjorie Thomas, both of Hereford, and Judith Shaddle of Sandwich, Ill.; a brother, Raymond Morrison of Dallas; and a grandson.
Jeremy Cruz
MEADOW - Services for Jeremy Cruz, 19, of Meadow will be held 4 p.m. Monday at Brownfield Church of Christ with Marcelino Banda officiating.

Cruz died Saturday, Feb. 13, 1999, in Lubbock.
He was born Aug. 24, 1979, in Andrews. He moved with his parents to Meadow in 1992, and he graduated from Meadow High School. He was attending South Plains College. Cruz worked at Eddie's Cowboy Store in Levelland.
Survivors include his parents, Raymond and Carol Cruz of Meadow; his paternal grandparents, Pete and Catherine Cruz of Meadow; and his maternal grandparents, Andrew and Mary Lopez of Caldwell.
Annie Bostick
Services for Annie Elizabeth Bostick, 83, of Lubbock will be held 2 p.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church's Bowman Chapel with the Rev. Keith Wiseman officiating.
Burial will be in Englewood cemetery under direction of Rix Funeral Directors.
She earned her master's degree from Texas Tech. She lived in Lamesa from 1924-1936, when she moved to Slaton, and then to Lubbock in 1946. She retired from the Lubbock Independent School District in 1981. She was a member of the Lubbock Classroom Teacher's Association, the Texas State Teacher's Association, the National Education Agency, the Lubbock County Teacher's Association and the Llegro Music Sorority. She was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include several nephews and nieces, and a sister-in-law.
The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Ralph Armenta Sr.
Rosary for Ralph I. Armenta Sr., 64, of Lubbock will be at 7:30 p.m. today in Resthaven's Abbey Chapel with the Rev. Gene Driscoll, of Christ the King Cathedral, officiating.
Mass will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Christ the King Cathedral with Bishop Placido Rodriguez officiating.
Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park under direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.
Armenta died Monday, Feb. 22, 1999, in Covenant Medical Center.
He was born July 2, 1934, in Saginaw, Mich. He married
Gloria Vera on June 15, 1957, in Puerto Rico. He retired in 1974 from the U.S. Air Force, serving in Korea and Vietnam. He worked as a parent liaison for the Lubbock Independent School District at Bean Elementary School. He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Cathedral and the Sierra Club. He was a past grand knight and served as district deputy of the Knights of Columbus. He moved to Lubbock from Abilene in 1980.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Peggy Shaw and Cindy Festa, both of Dallas, and Patty Ramey of Lubbock; two sons, Ralph Armenta Jr. of Odessa, and Richard Armenta of Dallas; a sister, Dolores Hubber of Grand Blanc, Mich.; a brother, Frank of Las Vegas, Nev.; and eight grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to Texas Knights of Columbus State Charities, P.O. Box 6131, Lubbock 79493.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. today.
Otis Gatewood
ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. (Special) Services for Otis Gatewood, 88 of Rochester Hills, Mich., will be held 3 p.m. Tuesday at College Church of Christ in Rochester Hills.
Burial will be in Cedar Hill cemetery under the direction of Elliott Funeral Home of Michigan.
He died Thursday, Sept, 16, 1999.
He was a missionary for more than 40 years in Europe and was a minister for more than 75 years.
Survivors include three grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Roy McNeely
OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla., (Special) Services for Roy Gray McNeely, 73, of Oklahoma City will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Marks United Methodist Church in Bethany, Okla.
He died Saturday, April 17, 1999.
He was born April 18, 1925, in Monroe. He was one of eight children in a large family that farmed the Texas soil for a living. He grew up in New Deal, where he attended high school. He married
Nina Anna Hill on Jan. 1, 1947. She preceded him in death. After serving his country in the U.S. Army during World War II and having two children, he moved to Enid, Okla., in 1950, where he managed a tractor supply business. He moved to Oklahoma City in 1960. With his son, he owned and operated B&M; Farm Supply until his retirement in 1991. He loved square dancing. It was through this activity that he met and married
his second wife, Wanda Havens, on Nov. 22, 1997. At the time of his death he and his wife were serving as President of the Cowboy Loop Square Dance Club. He was a member of St. Marks United Methodist Church in Bethany.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Sharon K. Payne; a son, Roy Gray "Buster" McNeely III; a stepson, Bruce Havens; a stepdaughter, Diana Bledsoe; four sisters, Oleta Greenhill, Glee Showalter, Jean Utlcy and Joy Yarbrough; five grandchildren; four step grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
