Nancy Myers
Nancy Myers was born December 7, 1937 in North Carolina. She had been a resident of Lubbock since 1980. She was employed with McDougal Properties as a property manager at Country Village Apartments for eleven years. She was an active member of the Lubbock Apartment Association and former Republican Precinct Chair person. She was a Baptist.
She is survived by her family at McDougal Properties.
The McDougal Properties family suggests memorials be sent to the American Cancer Society, 3411 73rd Street, Lubbock, Texas 79423 or Vista Care Hospice 7606 University, Suite3, Lubbock, Texas 79423.
She died Sunday, July 28, 2002 in Lubbock at the age of 64.
Katherine Cardwell
Katherine Cardwell was born in London, Arkansas December 23, 1896 to Jesse and Tinitia May. At the age of six months, she moved with her family to Norman, Okla. In her early years, she moved to a ranch near Lubbock and after two years there, moved into Lubbock for school. There she joined the First United Methodist Church at nine years of age. Five years later, the family moved to Brownfield, where she finished high school and then attended Seth Ward College.
She married
J. B. Cardwell in Brownfield in 1916 and lived in Brownfield and Lubbock. He died August 30, 1954. She wrote poetry, was a member of the National Library of Poetry, and has had several books of her poetry published, as well as writing special poems for her friends over the years.
Her only daughter, Bettye Jo Cathey, died December 31, 1989.
Surviving are two granddaughters, Ann Lynch, of Amarillo and Susan Broome, of Lubbock, her son in law, Charles Cathey, of Lubbock; and three great grandsons, Jason and Barry Lynch and Brandon Broome.
Memorials are suggested to the Music Ministry, First United Methodist Church, 1411 Broadway, Lubbock, Texas 79401.
She died Friday, July 26, 2002.
