James Steele
TYLER - Services for James Jefferson Steele, 90, of Tyler will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in Broadway Church of Christ with Randy Daw officiating.
Burial will be in Cathedral of the Pines cemetery under direction of Burks-Walker-Tippit Funeral Home.
Steele died Thursday, Feb. 25, 1999, in a Rusk hospital.
He was born April 9, 1908, in Tell. He married
Ellie Elizabeth Evans on Jan. 8, 1928, in Silverton. They were former residents of Lubbock, Midland and Sweetwater. He worked in the life insurance business. He retired in 1988. He was a crossing guard at an elementary school, and he worked part-time at the Rice Road Brookshire's Grocery Store.
Survivors include his wife; a brother, J.R. of Silverton; two sisters, Lillie Mercer of Canyon and Fannie Frances of Plainview; two daughters, Jerry Cannon of Tyler and Lou Ann Smith of Lubbock; four sons, Dwain of Tyler, Jim of Weatherford, Vic of San Angelo and Ric of Tyler; 17 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
David Lowe III
SLATON - Graveside services for David Lee Lowe III, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. David Lowe II of Honolulu, Hawaii, will be at 10 a.m. today in Englewood cemetery with the Rev. Cleve Kerby, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating.
Burial will be under direction of Englunds Funeral Service.
David died Jan. 30, 1999, in Honolulu, Hawaii.
He was born Jan. 2, 1999, in Honolulu.
Survivors include his parents; a sister, Jaquita Hughes of Honolulu; his paternal grandparents, Pat and Wayne Koontz of Slaton and David and Sandy Lowe of Copperas Cove; his maternal grandparents, Fred and Jerrie Hughes of Denver, Colo., and Mike and Sandy Reid of Honolulu; his paternal great-grandmother, Mary Gaydos of Slaton; and his maternal great-grandmothers, Lucile Hughes of Denver, Colo., and Margaret Hanson of Phoenix, Ariz.
Robert Allen
PLAINVIEW - Services for the Rev. Robert Allen, 50, of Plainview will be at 10 a.m. today in Trinity United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dennis Hochgraber of Mesquite officiating. Henry Salley, district superintendent of the Northwest Conference, will assist.
Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Parkdale cemetery in Arlington under direction of Lemons Funeral Home of Plainview.
Allen died Monday, Feb. 15, 1999, in Covenant Hospital in Lubbock.
He was born March 21, 1948, in Fayetteville, Ark. He married
Eileen Winburn on Aug. 16, 1974, in Grand Prairie. He graduated from Grand Prairie High School. He served in the U.S. Navy. He attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, and he became associate pastor of Southpark Baptist Church in Grand Prairie. He worked in the prison ministry for three years. He was named pastor of First United Methodist Church in Chillicothe, where he served for two years. In June 1997, he took over the ministry at Trinity United Methodist Church in Plainview. He was a member of the Optimist Club and Plainview Ministerial Alliance.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Rubee of Arlington and Jennifer of Odell; three brothers, Russell of Houston, Joe of Hurst and Rick of Plano; a sister, Judy of Chandler; his mother, Ora Dale Allen of Chandler; and a grandchild.
Ondal Jordan
Services for Ondal Jordan, 81, of Smyer will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Abbey Chapel of Resthaven Funeral Home with the Rev. Clarence Tedder officiating.
Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park.
Jordan died Monday, March 8, 1999, in Covenant Medical Center.
He was born Feb. 15, 1918, in Fredricks, Okla. He married
Ollie Kate Butner on May 5, 1938, in Lubbock. He was a retired farmer and a member of First Baptist Church in Smyer. He served on the Smyer School Board, and he was a committee man for FHA.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Darla Gholson and Sandra Pugh, both of Smyer; five sisters, Jean Mimms, Welma Mimms, Wanda Alderson and Donna Hjalmer, all of Lubbock, and Jo Ann Stroup of Cotton Center; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
The family suggests memorials to First Baptist Church of Smyer.
Bulah Campbell
Graveside services for Bulah Lorena Campbell, 99, of Lubbock will be at 2 p.m. today in O'Donnell cemetery with the Rev. Ken Horn officiating.
Burial will be under direction of White Funeral Home of Lubbock.
She died Thursday, Feb. 25, 1999, in Bender Terrace Nursing Home in Lubbock.
She was born July 22, 1899, in Erath County. She attended Erath and Scurry County schools. She married
Fletcher Watson in 1918, in Hermleigh. He died in 1927. She married
Golder Hale in 1929, and he died in 1956. She married
Harry Campbell on July 11, 1966, in Lordsburg, N.M. He died in 1983. She moved to Lubbock from O'Donnell in 1982. She was a homemaker and a farmer. She was a member of the Church of Christ. A son, F.W. Watson, died in 1925.
Survivors include a son, Jack Hale of Abilene; five daughters, Violet Jones, Neta McMillan and Lovena Gryder, all of Lubbock, and Veda Adams and Reba Adams, both of Odessa; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Isabel Vargas
HASKELL - Rosary for Isabel B. Vargas, 70, of Breckenridge will be at 7 p.m. today in St. George Catholic Church in Haskell.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the same church with the Rev. Michael Melcher officiating.
Burial will be in Rule City cemetery under direction of Calvillo Funeral Home of Lubbock.
She died Wednesday, Feb. 24, 1999, in Covenant Medical Center.
She was born Dec. 31, 1928, in Ranger. She married
William Vargas, and he died in 1964. She was a Catholic. She was a seamstress until retiring. Her husband, Willie Vargas, preceded her in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Teresa Contreras of Lubbock; a sister, Petra Puebla of Breckenridge; a brother, Silverio Baiza of Rule; two grandchildren; and a companion, Joe Martinez of Breckenridge.
The body will be at the church in Haskell until services.
Stella Gentry
Services for Stella Gentry, 85, of Lubbock will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in W.W. Rix Chapel with Jess Peterson officiating.
Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park under direction of Rix Funeral Directors.
She died Saturday, Feb. 13, 1999, at her residence.
She was born in Cooper on April 30, 1913, and had been a resident of Lubbock since December 1949. She was a member of Monterey Church of Christ and had cared for children in her home for 40 years. She married
Edgar Gentry in Hugo, Okla., on Dec. 23, 1930. He died Oct. 17, 1978.
Survivors include four sons, David of Childress, Mike of Idalou and Jacky and Steve, both of Lubbock; four daughters, Billie Young of Idalou, and Connie Fisher, Carolyn Wooton and Angela Rogers, all of Lubbock; 17 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to Hospice of Lubbock, Box 53276, Lubbock 79453, or to a favorite charity.
Minnie McLeod
Services for Minnie McLeod, 91, of Lubbock will be at 3 p.m. today in Resthaven Funeral Home Abbey Chapel with Doug Hale of Vandelia Church of Christ officiating.
Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park.

She was born Feb. 23, 1908, in Hammon, Okla. She married
Jess McLeod on Dec. 24, 1927, in Elk City, Okla. He died May 13, 1982. She worked at the Lubbock Airport and the Lubbock Children's Home. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include a daughter, Jessie Nadine McMinn of Lubbock; a brother, Thurman Watkins of Fargo, Okla.; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
