MATADOR - Services for Doris Simpson, 68, of Matador will be at 3 p.m. today at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Rickey Lawrence, pastor of Roaring Springs Full Gospel Church, and the Rev. Chris McAuley, pastor of Midway Church near Paducah, officiating.
Burial will be in the East Mound cemetery under the direction of Seigler Funeral Home.
She died Thursday, Dec. 9, 1999, at Palo Pinto General Hospital in Mineral Wells.
She was born July 8, 1931, in San Saba County. She lived in Cottle County for several years and graduated from high school in Dumont. She married
Joseph E. "Gid" Simpson on Oct. 11, 1952, in Brownfield. They moved to Matador. She was a housewife and worked for the Plains Cotton Growers Association's boll weevil control program for several years. She was a member of the Baptist church.
An infant son, Larry Dale Simpson, died in 1953.
Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Cindy Clayton of Weatherford, Merritt Harrison of Plainview and Belinda Smith of Paducah; two brothers, Cecil Sullivan of Fort Worth and James Sullivan of El Paso; two sisters, Mildred Sullivan of Glen Rose and Virginia Atkinson of Boyd; and six grandchildren.
J. Raymond Cone
Services for J. Raymond Cone, 92, of Lubbock will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Ford Memorial Chapel of First Baptist Church with D.L. Lowrie and the Rev. John Ballard officiating.
Entombment will be in Resthaven Mausoleum under the direction of Sanders Funeral Home.
He died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2000, at his home.
He was born Aug. 6, 1907, in Milam County. He moved to Lubbock as a child and was a graduate of Lubbock High School. He attended the University of Texas. He was a fly fishing guide in Yellowstone National Park. He married
Dorothy Vandagriff on June 20, 1937. During World War II, he was a flight instructor at the Victory Air Field in Vernon. He owned and operated Cone Elevator and was very involved in the oil field industry around the Permian Basin and Eastern New Mexico. He attended the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Jim of Lubbock; a daughter, Jan Cone Bowerman of Arlington; a brother, Dr. H.E. Cone of Lubbock; two sisters, Lula Peterson and Eunice Gibson, both of El Paso; and four grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. today in the parlor at First Baptist Church.
Theodore Smith
Services for Theodore "Ted" Smith, 66, of Lubbock will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Smith Temple Community Church with the Rev. D.A. Smith officiating.
Burial will be in Peaceful Gardens in Woodrow under the direction of Ossie Curry Funeral Home.
He died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2000, at his home.
He was born May 2, 1933, in Chilton. He married
Erma Jean Johnson on Aug. 25, 1962, in Irene. He graduated from Paul Quinn College in 1958. He played professional football for the Dallas Texans, now known as the Kansas City Chiefs. He coached football in Hillsboro and Gatesville. He owned several restaurants and bars and worked at the Lubbock Country Club.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Theodore Jr. of Lubbock; a daughter, Mary Deniece of Grand Prairie; and two grandchildren.
Harley Ragland
WEATHERFORD - Services for Harley Jackson Ragland, 67, of Fort Worth will be at 10 a.m. Monday at White's Funeral Home Chapel of Memories with Don Davis officiating.
Burial will be in Hill cemetery under the direction of White's Funeral Home.
He died Thursday, Dec. 9, 1999, at his home.
He was born Jan. 10, 1932, in Dicken's County. He graduated from Patton Spring School in Afton. He served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. He married
Barbara Thornton on Dec. 31, 1955. He was a farmer and a member of the Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Jeff of Fort Worth; a daughter, Jill Clark of Fort Worth; two brothers, John of Fort Worth and Gib of Slaton; two sisters, Frankie Rigsby of Idalou and Loise Thornton of Lubbock; and three grandchildren.

Ann Fergerson
Services for Ann Howell Fergerson, 63, of Lubbock will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Second Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Foster Johnson officiating.
Burial will be in the Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park under the direction of Rix Funeral Directors.
She died Friday, Dec. 24, 1999, at University Medical Center.
She was born Nov. 14, 1936, in Kerrville. She moved to Lubbock in 1952. She worked for TG&Y; for two years and Remember When for an additional three years. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. She was a past matron of the Freedom Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star No. 898.
Survivors include her husband, James Fergerson of Lubbock; two sons, James Walker Fergerson, and Joe Daniel Fergerson, both of Lubbock; a daughter, Linda Ann Fergerson Kruse of Lubbock; four brothers, Jimmy Howell of Oklahoma City, Billy Howell of Bonham, Bobby Howell of North Richland Hills, and Mark Howell of Kerrville; and four grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. today at Rix Funeral Directors.
Minnie Hopper
STANTON - Graveside services for Minnie Fae Hopper, 82, of Chattanooga, Tenn., will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Evergreen cemetery.
Burial is under the direction of Gilbreath Funeral Home.
She died Tuesday, Dec. 7, 1999, in Chattanooga.
She was born March 10, 1917, in Carrollton. She married
Chester A. Hopper on Aug. 18, 1934, in Stanton. He died Oct. 7, 1978. She moved to Stanton from Colorado City in 1954 and to Chattanooga in 1996. She was a member of the Church of God.
Survivors include a son, Ronald Hopper of Graham; a daughter, Ann Grissom of Chattanooga; two brothers, J.C. Rich of Stanton and J.T. Rich of Colorado City; a sister, Lillian Mayers of Tucson, Ariz.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Anne Wright
Services for Anne Bayer Wright, 76, of Lubbock will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Franklin-Bartley Funeral Home Chapel with John McCoy officiating.

She died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 1999, at Covenant Medical Center.
She was born May 14, 1923, in Rowena. She had been a resident of Lubbock since 1994, moving from Houston. She married
W.M. "Dub" Wright Jr. on May 15, 1948, in Lubbock. He died in 1992. She worked with Consolidated Aircraft building B-24 bombers during World War II. She was a Methodist and a homemaker.
Survivors include a daughter, Jackie Britt of Fort Worth; two sisters, Helen Trull of Lubbock and Lillian Glandon of Imperial Beach, Calif; a brother, Albert Bayer of Meadow; and two grandsons.
The family will receive friends from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
