Leroy Lopez

LOVINGTON, N.M. - Mass services for Leroy Lopez, 36, a lifelong resident of Lovington, N.M. will be at 10 a.m. at St. Thomas Catholic Church with Father Franklin Eichhorst officiating.

Burial will follow at Resthaven cemetery under the direction of Bethany Funeral Home of Lovington.

He died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2000, in Lovington, N.M.

He was born Feb. 12, 1964, in Lovington, N.M.

He worked for Lea County Cheese and was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church.

Survivors include his mother, Florencia Garcia of Lovington, N.M.; Father and Step-mother, Roman and Marcela Lopez of Lovington, N.M.; four brothers, Joe, Frank, Sammy, Larry Lopez, all of Lovington, N.M.; four sisters, Lupe Medrano, Margie Garcia, both of Lovington, N.M., Alice Garcia and Sally Gutierrez both of Hobbs, N.M.

Antonio Rivera

Services for Antonio Rivera, 81, of Lubbock will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with the Rev. Michael O'Dwyer officiating.

Burial will be in Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park under the direction of RIX Funeral Directors.

Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday at W.W. RIX Chapel.

He died Feb. 29, 2000, at Covenant Medical Center.

He was born March 28, 1918, in Tucumcari, N.M. He married Teresa Torres on Feb. 19, 1941, in Levelland. She died April 10, 1994.

He was a resident of Lubbock since 1935. He worked for Plains Gas Company for 25 years and for Texas Tech University for ten years. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church.

Survivors include three sons, Jimmy, Andrew, and Tony Jr. all of Lubbock; four daughters, Nancy Marx of Oklahoma City, Okla., Lucy Ochoa of Lubbock, Janie Green of Amarillo and Teresa Flores of Lubbock; 24 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Joe Rivera of Amarillo and Johnny Rivera of Albuquerque, N.M.; two sisters, Felipa Leos and Mary Leos both of Lubbock.

Elwanda Carson

ROARING SPRINGS - Graveside services for Elwanda Carson, 57, of Roaring Springs will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at the Roaring Springs cemetery with Roger Ashley and Raymond Lindsey both officiating.

Burial will be under the direction of Seigler Funeral Home.

She died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000, at Lubbock's University Medical Center.

She was born Sept. 16, 1942, at Roaring Springs. She married Forest Carson July 10, 1959, at Matador. She had lived in Hereford, Okla. and Slaton prior to returning to Roaring Springs. She was a homemaker, and also worked as a nurse's aid. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Roaring Springs.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Krystal Dawn Carsom.

Survivors include her husband; three sons, Kit Allen and Kyle Wesley both of Roaring Springs, and Kelly Wayne of Lubbock; a daughter, Karen Sue Mount of Roaring Springs; four brothers, Joe Meredith of Roaring Springs, Bennie Meredith of Aspermont, Johnnie Meredith of Lubbock, and Jackie Meredith of Blackwell, Okla.; four sister, Doris Thames of Lubbock, Verion Lindsey and Marilyn Wyess both of Belton, and Dian Estes of Winnfield, Kan.; and five grandchildren.

Lonnie Moore

BIG SPRING - Services for Lonnie D. Moore, 78, of Big Spring will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Myers and Smith Chapel with the Rev. Doug Shelley, pastor of Eastside Baptist Church, officiating.

Burial will be in Trinity Memorial Park under direction of Myers and Smith Home and Chapel of Big Spring.

He died Wednesday, Sept. 15, 1999, at University Medical Center in Lubbock. He was born Nov. 3, 1920, in Delta County. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in Japan, Germany and Italy. He also served in the Korean War.

He retired from the Army after 23 years and became a surgical technician, working at Veteran Administration Hospitals in Temple and Big Spring.

He was a member of Eastside Baptist Church.

His wife, Faye B. Moore, preceded him in death.

He is survived by two daughters, Katherine Bedrich of Cameron and Sandra Patzki of Garland; three sisters, Myrtle Kimbrough of Odessa, Ruby Goforth of Texico, N.M., and Billye Yaws of Seagoville; and three grandchildren.

Thelma Guthrie

KEY - Graveside services for Thelma Guthrie, 82, of Key will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, at Terrace cemetery with the Rev. Buddy Payne officiating.

Burial services are under the direction of Hudman Funeral Home.

She died Thursday, March 2, 2000, at her home in Key.

She was born Aug. 11, 1917, in Coleman County. She married Charlie Guthrie on Oct. 30, 1954, in Fost. He died in 1979.

She was the manager of the convenience store in Key. She was also a Baptist.

Survivors include a daughter, Kay Hendricks of Big Springs; two sisters, Earlene Bartlett of Nocona and Annett Woods of Odessa; and four grandchildren.

Robert Sanders

Memorial services for Robert G. Sanders, 72, of Lubbock were Wednesday at the Resthaven Abbey Chapel with the Rev. Alan Korinek officiating.

Cremation was under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

He died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000, at Covenant Medical Center.

He was born Oct. 8, 1927, in St. Louis. He moved to Little Rock, Ark., as a child. He married Gladys "Phil" Sanders on July 25, 1952. He was a graduate of Little Rock's Central High School and the University of Arkansas. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard ships Oklahoma City and Shangrila. He came to Lubbock in 1958, and worked in outside sales in West Texas and Eastern New Mexico. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church.

He was preceded in death by a grandchild.

Survivors include two daughters, Brenda Sanders of Flint, Mich., and Donna Childers of Amarillo; a son, James Childers of Amarillo; and two grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to the National Kidney Foundation of West Texas, 3801 19th St., Suite 402, Lubbock, 79410.

Mark Alexander

Services for Mark Alexander, 38, of Lubbock, will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. at Westmont Christian Church with the Rev. Clint Stephenson, and Mr. Scott Ramsey, officiating.

Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park, under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

He died Friday, Feb. 25, 2000.

He was born on Oct. 22, 1961, in Amarillo and graduated from Coronado High School in Lubbock in 1980. He married the Former Kay Harris in Lubbock, on March 29, 1980. He was a printer in Brownfield, where he lived from 1987 to 1992. There he served as an officer with the Brownfield Chamber of Commerce and PTA's, the Brownfield Red Coats, Rotary Club, and Girl Scouts. He returned to Lubbock in 1992 working in the restaurant equipment and scale service industry, as a repair technician. In Lubbock, he was involved with the Boy Scouts and various other organizations. He was also a Web page designer.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Misty Waits of Lubbock; a son, Chris Alexander of Lubbock; his mother and step-father, Dot and A.J. Moffitt of Amarillo; his father and step-mother, Bill and Janelle Alexander of Lubbock; four sisters, Rhonda Medellin of Midland, Cheryl Alexander of Tampa, Fla.; Connie Baird of Dallas, and Vicki DeVantier of Richardson; four brothers, Ronnie Burns of Houston, Lee Moffitt of Lubbock, Barry Moffitt of Canyon, Bryan Moffitt of Kingsland, Ga.

The family suggests memorials to the Mark Alexander Memorial Fund at City Bank of Lubbock.
