LEVELLAND Memorial services for Daren Lee Butler, 32, of Levelland will be at 2 p.m. today in George C. Price Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Bobby James officiating.
He died on Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2000, at his home.
He was born on Oct. 25, 1967, in Victoria. He was a lifelong resident of Levelland and attended school there. He was disabled and a member of First Assembly of God Church in Levelland.
Survivors include a son, Aaron of Levelland; and his parents, Lewis and Erma of Levelland.
Josephine Templer
Service for Josephine Parks Templer, 63, of Lubbock will be held 4 p.m. Tuesday in Bowman Memorial Chapel at First United Methodist Church with Revs. Keith Wiseman and Marisue Smith officiating.
Burial will be in Dallas under the direction of Rix Funeral Directors.
She died Saturday, Aug. 28, 1999, at Covenant Medical Center.
She was born October 16, 1935, in Dallas. She lived for the last 31 years in Lubbock. She married
Otis W. Templer on August 30, 1958, in Dallas. She attended Randolph-Macon Women's College and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with bachelor's and master's degrees. She was the president and CEO of Parks Investment Company in Dallas. She served as the president of University Women, the Women's Council of the Texas Tech Museum Association, the Twentieth Century Club, and the local chapter of the Embroiderers' Guild of America. She was also active in Achievement Rewards for College Scientists, Summer Youth Classes at the Texas Tech Museum, Lubbock Symphony Guild, Alpha Delta Pi Alumnae Association, Lubbock Women's Club, and Friends of the Library City Library.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband; a son, James Austin Templer; four daughters, Sally Cutherell, Elizabeth Templer, Julia Hicks and Nancy Jo Templer; and five grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to a favorite charitable organization.
James Word
FLOYDADA - Memorial services for James Havens "Jim" Word, 81, of Floydada will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Wendell Horn officiating.
Private burial will be in Floyd County Memorial Park under the direction of Moore-Rose-White Funeral Home.
He died Tuesday, Oct. 19, 1999, at Covenant Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 8, 1918, in Globe, Ariz. He graduated from Austin High School in 1936 and attended University of Texas. He married
Dorothy Cousins on Jan. 1, 1938, in Austin. She died Aug. 20, 1981. He moved to Floydada from Austin in 1946. He married
Margarette Wasson Bond on March 9, 1985, in Floydada.
He retired from insurance sales in January 1981. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, having served during World War II. He was past president of American Heart Association, member of American Cancer Society, Floydada Senior Citizens, charter member of Friends of the Floyd County Library, former school board member of the Floydada ISD and a 50-year member of the American Legion. He was a member of the Lions Club where he served as president from 1949-50. He was a charter board member of the Floyd County Historical Museum where he was president and treasurer. He was a member of the Boy Scouts of America, a member of the board of the South Plains Council and past Scout Master of Floydada Troop No. 357. He was Floydada Citizen of the Year in March of 1989. He was a member of the Society of American Archaeology where he served as president in the mid-1960s, South Plains Archaeology Society, Midland Archaeology Society and Panhandle Archaeology Society.
Survivors include his wife; two stepsons, Gregory Bond of Granbury and Gordon Bond of Big Bear Lake, Calif.; three daughters, Ann Carr, Mary Garrett and Elizabeth Atkinson, all of Floydada; a sister, Mary Ellen Petty of Fort Worth; seven grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

John West
RUIDOSO, N.M. - Services for John Thomas West, 75, of Alto, N.M. will be Friday at Gateway Church of Christ with Jimmy Sportsman officiating.
Burial will follow at Forest Lawn cemetery under the direction of LaGrone Funeral Chapel.
He died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000, at his home.
He was born Feb. 3, 1925, at Hamlin. He married
Audrey Newton on Aug. 23, 1952, in Wink.
He served in the army during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was Past Master of the Masonic Lodge in Wink, past Worthy Matron of the order of the Eastern Star, former board member of Alto Lakes Country Club and board member of Alto Lakes Water Corporation. He retired from the Exxon Corp. after 42 years as field foreman. He lived in Wink from 1947, until 1989, had served as Mayor and then moved to Alto. He was a member of the Gateway Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife of Alto; a son, J. Mark of Lakewood, Colo.; three sisters, Kay Shaw of Big Spring, Laudane Carr and Nelda Loyd both of Lubbock.
The family suggests memorials to Gateway Church of Christ or Hospice of Lincoln County.
Visitation will be at 3 p.m Thursday at LaGrone Funeral Chapel in Ruidoso, N.M. until 5 p.m.
Donna Hoelscher
PEP - Services for Donna June Hoelscher, 63, of Pep will be at 1 p.m. Friday at St. Phillip Neri Catholic cemetery in Pep with Deacon Alfred Franco officiating.

She died Tuesday, Feb. 29, 2000, at her residence near Pep.

Denis Hoelsher June 7, 1961, at Tulia. She was a homemaker and a member of the St. Phillip Neri Catholic Church in Pep.

Fred Woods
MORTON Services for Fred Woods, 85, of Levelland will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at New Trinity Baptist Church with the Rev. Lou Balenton officiating.
Burial will be in Morton cemetery under the direction of McCarty Funeral Home of Littlefield.
He died Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2000, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock.
He was born June 10, 1915, in Bremond. He lived in Levelland for 55 years. He had served as a deacon in Morning Star Baptist Church in Levelland and in New Trinity Baptist Church in Morton. He was a farmer and a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife, Josephine Cornish of Levelland; a son, Robert Mims of Teague; a daughter, Florean Tarzer of Dallas; 34 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
JoAn Mayes
Services for JoAn Tate Mayes of Lubbock will be at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Luke's United Methodist Church with the Rev. Tom Mills and Rev. Judy Scott officiating. Services under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.
She died Monday, May 15, 2000, at her residence.
She was born in Tom Bean. She married
Marion Hudson Mayes on Dec. 31, 1945. He died May 8, 1992.
She received a bachelor's degree in applied arts from Texas Tech, a master's in psychology from Southern Methodist University and a doctorate in clinical psychology from Texas Women's University. She worked as a consultant to the Carrollton and Farmers Branch School Districts.
She was the Women's Council President for Texas Tech Museum. She was a member of the Lubbock Women's Club, Lubbock Symphony Guild, St. Luke's Methodist Church. She was also an American Cancer Society volunteer, South Plains Food Bank volunteer, Early Settler's Luncheon chair, 4th on Broadway board member, Texas Tech Museum board member, administrator for the Mario Mayes Agriculture Scholarship Fund and sustainer for the Junior League of Lubbock.
Survivors include a daughter, Deborah Mayes Curry; and two granddaughters.
