PALESTINE Services for Jewell Varnell, 87, of Palestine will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bailey and Foster Chapel with the Rev. Gregory A. Megill officiating.
Burial will be in Roselawn Park.
She died Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2000, at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene.
She was born March 9, 1913, in Paducah. She graduated from West Texas State Teachers College in Canyon and taught school for 43 years in Afton. She was a member of the Gamma Eta chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma and a member of the Texas Education Association. She was a Baptist.
Survivors include her husband, Richard; a daughter, Ahnise Summers of Palestine; a son, Wayne of Houston; a sister, Martha Alma Thompson of Lubbock; a brother, Coy Morris of Afton; and four grandchildren.

Lester Couch
ANTON Services for Lester Lee Couch, 92, of Anton will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Anton Church of Christ with Ralph Lewis officiating and Todd Rutledge assisting.
Burial will be in Littlefield Memorial Park under the direction of Hammons Funeral Home.
He died on Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2000, at Lamb Healthcare Center in Littlefield.
He was born on Sept. 30, 1908, in Healdton, Okla. He married
Vineta Sadler on Sept. 3, 1939, near Littlefield. He had lived in Anton since 1926 and graduated from Anton High School in 1930. He had farmed in Anton since 1930. He was a member of the Anton Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Gayle Heckard of Littlefield and Ileene Nickelson of Whitharral; a sister, Estelle Davis of Lubbock; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Leon White
PLAINVIEW Services for Leon White, 92, of Plainview will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Glenn Clark officiating.
Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park under the direction of Lemons Funeral Home.
He died Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2000, in Plainview.
He was born May 19, 1908, in Paducah. He grew up in the Paducah area and attended school at Valley View. He married
Inez Beauchamp on Aug. 5, 1939, in Paducah.
He farmed in the Paducah area. He worked for Rex Keys Hardware and Shamberger Lumber Yard. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1944 to 1946. After his discharge, he went back to Paducah and worked at Bertha's Cafe.
He moved to California in 1952 and worked for California Canners and Growers. He retired in 1971 and moved to Plainview in 1991. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Cleta Eldridge of Plainview and Vickie Harbour of Selma, Calif.; two sons, Eugene of Moses Lake, Wash., and Ray of Abilene; a brother, L.E. of Mineral Wells; three sisters, Sue Thruston of McKinney, Theola Witt of Paducah, and Bernice Sturdivant of Aumsville, Ore.; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to the Bethel Baptist Church Building Fund.
Naomi Dominguez
Services for Naomi C. Dominguez, 31, of Lubbock will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Calvillo Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Scott Carley officiating and the Rev. Jesse Lopez assisting.
Burial will be in Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park under the direction of Calvillo Funeral Home.
She died on Thursday, Oct. 12, 2000, at University Medical Center.
She was born on Dec. 26, 1968, in Lubbock. She was an active member of Word Aflame Pentecostal Church. She was a lifelong resident of Lubbock.
Survivors include a daughter, Kristian Renee of Lubbock; her parents, Alicia Segovia of Lubbock and Bruno Campos of Victoria; three brothers, Steven Campos of Houston, Samuel Maldonado of Lubbock, and Ricky Maldonado of Oklahoma; and grandparents, Manuel and Maria Lopez, both of Slaton.
Estell Jordan
EASTLAND Services for Estell L. Jordan, 93, of Flatwood will be at 2 p.m. today at the Bakker Funeral Home Chapel in Eastland with Larry Roberts and Joe Wilson officiating.
Burial will be in Flatwood cemetery.
She died Monday, Oct. 9, 2000, in an Eastland nursing home.
She was born Dec. 1, 1906, in Flatwood, where she grew up. She married
Herman C. Jordan on June 3, 1933, in Flatwood. He died in 1982.
In addition to being a homemaker, she was an elementary school teacher, teaching at Flatwood, Terrapin and Carbon. She was a member of the Flatwood Church of Christ.
Survivors include a son, Webb of Flatwood; two daughters, Lavonda Greene of Lubbock and Jerry Stephenson of Cisco; a sister, Frankie Watson of Terrell; nine grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Byron Buckalew
Services for Byron David Buckalew, 50, of Abilene will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Keith Wiseman officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.
He died on Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2000, in Sweetwater.
He was born on March 25, 1950, in Boulder, Colo. He was an alumni of Texas Tech University and an employee of Ameripride Linen and Apparel Service.
Survivors include his mother, Dixie Ann of Cedar Hill, and two brothers, Richard E. of Virginia Beach, Va., and Christopher D. of Cedar Hill.
The family suggests memorials to the First United Methodist Church.
Ila Nichols
BIG SPRING Graveside services for Ila Marie (Duke) Nichols, 84, of Big Spring will be at 2 p.m. today in Trinity Memorial Park with the Rev. Ken McMeans officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle and Welch Funeral Home.
She died Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2000, in a Big Spring nursing home.
She was born July 1, 1916, in Clifton. She married
Ray Nichols on Aug. 7, 1935, in Wink. He died Aug. 3, 2000.
She graduated from high school in Rosebud and lived in Fort Worth before going into nurses' training at Scott and White Hospital in Temple. She moved to Big Spring in 1942.
She attended Howard College and Hardin-Simmons University. She did her post-graduate work at Texas Tech University, Sul Ross State University and the University of Texas at Austin. She earned three degrees. She taught school in Big Spring for 20 years.
She was a member and past noble grand of John A. Key Rebekah Lodge, and a member of the Business and Professional Women's Club. She had volunteered at the VA hospital and served as a Girl Scout leader. She was active in the Western Drifters RV Club. She was a Baptist.
A daughter, Claudia Marie Redmon, died Nov. 14, 1997.
Survivors include a daughter, Beverly Sundy of Big Spring; a sister, Ruth Allen of Fort Worth; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to the American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society Memorial Program or the American Diabetes Association.
