THOMAS T. "TONEY" CARR
Funeral services for Thomas T. "Toney" Carr, 76, of Bay City, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 13, at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Cedervale cemetery.
Mr. Carr was born June 22, 1923 in Bay City to T.F. and Mildred Walker Carr. He died Oct. 11, 1999 in Bay City.
A graduate of Bay City High School in 1941, he joined the US Army and served overseas in England, Germany, Holland, and France. He married
Joyce Davis of Bay City in Aug. 1948. At the end of World War II, he enrolled at Rice Institute where he was a member of the track team. After receiving his BS degree at Rice, he earned his Masters Degree at the University of Houston.
Mr. Carr began his 22-year coaching career at St. Ann's, followed by one year at Smiley High School, six years at Palacios High School and eight years at Strake-Jesuit in Houston. Following his coaching retirement, he returned to Palacios where he purchased the Palacios Marina and operated it until 1997 when he sold the marina and moved back to Bay City.
He was a member of the First Methodist Church in Palacios, the American Legion and the "R" Association of Rice.
Mr. Carr is survived by his wife of 51 years, Joyce Davis Carr; his son, Christopher Scott; two grandchildren, Adam and Sarah Carr; one sister, Lucille Roberts and husband, Cecil; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Joe Birkner, Jr. all of Bay City and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mary Frank Burnell.
JOSEPHINE S. AGUILAR
Funeral services for Josephine S. Aguilar, 83, of Arlington, were held Oct. 12, 1999 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church with Rev. Charles Dwomoh officiating. Interment was in Palacios cemetery.
Mrs. Aguilar was born Aug. 27,1916 in Midfield to the late Macedenio and Charlotte Soto Carrio. She died Oct. 8,1999.
She was a former resident of Palacios and a member of the St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.
She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Alfred Garcia of Palacios, Charlotte and Felix DeLeon of Falfurrias, Guadalupe and Roy Young of Arlington; sons and daughter’s-in-law, Victor Aguilar and daughter Candice of Arlington, Jesus and Lillian Aguilar, Jr. of Harvey, LA, Julius and Ofelia Aguilar of Palacios, Mike and Peggy Aguilar of Marrero, LA, George Aguilar of Ft. Myers, FL; two sisters, Lucia Guzman and Carolina Talbert both of Houston; 36 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jesus Aguilar, Sr. and by one son Johnnie P. Aguilar.
Pallbearers were Victor Aguilar, Jesus Aguilar, Jr., Julius Aguilar, George Aguilar, Mike Aguilar, Alfred Garcia, Felix DeLeon, and Roy Young.
KEVIN LEE GUAY
Funeral services for Kevin Lee Guay, 39, of Bay City, were held Oct. 12, 1999 at the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Bay City with Rev. Casey Jarzombek officiating. Interment was at Cedarvale cemetery, Bay City.
Mr. Guay was born Jan. 8, 1960 in Massena, NY to Joseph R. Guay and Lois R. Snyder Guay. He died Oct. 8, 1999.
Mr. Guay was a resident of Bay City for the past 17 years, a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church and a member of and trustee Fraternal Order of Eagles #3232. He was employed by the South Texas Project Nuclear Operating Company as a Material Buyer and was a former employee of Bay City Emergency Medical Services as a Emergency Medical Technician-Intermediate.
He is survived by his wife, Therese Guay; a daughter, Megan Guay; a son, Adam Guay; his mother, Lois Guay of Massena, NY; by two brothers and sisters-in-laws, Terry and Cheryl Guay and Daryl and Patti Guay all of Massena, NY; and numerous nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph R. Guay.
EVA DOROTHY OTTINO
Funeral services for Eva Dorothy Ottino, 92, of Palacios, were held Sept. 28, 1999 at the Palacios Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Dwomoh officiating. Interment was in Palacios cemetery.
Mrs. Ottino was born September 4, 1907 in Palacios to the late John P. and Josephine Pardo Roach. She died Sept 26, 1999.
She was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and a life long resident of Palacios.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Margaret Ottino and John Acosta of Bay City, and Josephine Ottino and Augustine Gonzales of Palacios; son and daughter-in-law, John V and Mary Ottino of El Campo; sister, Josephine Gonzales of Lake Jackson; brother, John P. Roach of Palacios; 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband John R. Ottino, sisters Mary Louise Frazier and Margaret Balderas, brothers Ben, Walter and Ralph Roach and by one grandson John Anthony Gonzales.
RICHARD K. ‘RICH’ BANKER
Funeral services for Richard K. “Rich” Banker, 51, of Bay City were scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29 at the Calvary Baptist Church of Bay City with Revs. Chester Sassman, Hollie Briscoe and Aubrey Spears officiating.
Mr. Banker was born Jan. 19, 1948 in Kansas City, Mo. to Walter K. Banker and Hazel Bennett Banker. He died Sept. 22, 1999 at Matagorda General Hospital in Bay City.
He was a former resident of San Clemente, Ca. and Salem, N. J. He had been a resident of Bay City for the past 11 years and was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church. He was employed as a Planner/Scheduler at the STP Nuclear Operating Company.
He is survived by his wife, Penny Lynn Kiesel-Banker of Bay City; daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn Michelle and Jonathan Riggs of Warsaw, Mo.; sons John W. Banker and wife, Amy, of Beverly Hills, Ca., and Nicholas S. Banker of Bay City, Tx.; his mother, Hazel Banker of Overland Park, Kans.; and three grandchildren, Maleah, J. C. and Shawn Riggs of Warsaw, Mo.

OLETA HORN
Funeral services for Leta Horn, 87, of Sequin, Tx. were scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22, 1999 at the Palacios Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charlie Parker officiating. Interment will be at Palacios cemetery.
Mrs. Horn was born March 18, 1912 in Sudan, Okla. to the late Joseph and Annie Tabb Allen. She died Sept. 19, 1999 at Nesbit Nursing Home in Sequin.
She was a member of the Baptist Church, a resident of Sequin for the past four years, and a former resident of Palacios, Old Gulf, and New Gulf, Tx. and Davis, Okla.
She is survived by daughters Pam Frost of Sequin, and Paula Hayton and husband Tom of San Antonio; sister Lorene Treacy of Palacios, five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernis H. Horn; three brothers, Butler, Thelbert and Roy Allen; and one grandson, Michael.
Pallbearers are Blake Liedka, Walter Flowers, Tom Hayton, Nick Clark-Reese, Gene Allen and Ryan Beavers.
VIVIAN GARCIA CARRILLO
A rosary for Vivian Garcia Carrillo, 51, of Blessing, was scheduled for 7 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 21, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Blessing and the Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 22 at St. Peter's Catholic Church with the Rev. Samuel Appiasi officiating. Internment will follow at St. Peter's Catholic cemetery.
Mrs. Carrillo was born Feb. 7, 1948 in Palacios to Nick Cantu and Anita Alvarez Garcia. She died Sept. 20, 1999 at Matagorda General Hospital in Bay City.
She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church and the Guadalupanos. Mrs. Carrillo was a resident of Blessing the past 33 years and a former resident of Palacios.
She is survived by her husband Nicholas Carrillo, Jr. of Blessing, mother, daughters Christina Winters and Lisa Carrillo both of Blessing, sons Nicholas Carrillo, III and wife Lisa and Darrell Carrillo all of Blessing; sisters Rebecca Torres and Mary Ann Garcia both of Palacios; brothers Alfred, Albert, Tony, Nick and Lawrence Garcia all of Palacios, Johnny Garcia of Rancho Cordova, CA, Lee Garcia of Freeport and Bobby Garcia of Port Lavaca. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father.
Pallbearers will be Robert Garcia, Jr., Eloy, Michael and Lee Michael Garcia, Alfred Carrillo, John Carrillo, Jr., and Benito Longoria, Jr.
RACHEL H. BUCKLEY
Funeral services for Rachel H. Buckley, 57, of Bay City and formerly of Palacios, were held at 2 p.m. Friday (Sept. 17, 1999) at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Palacios with the Rev. Charles Dwomah officiating. Private burial services will be held at a later date.
A rosary service was scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday (Sept. 16) at Palacios Funeral Home Chapel.
Mrs. Buckley was born Jan. 6, 1942, in Palacios, to Genoveva Samora Hernandez of Bay City and Fredrico Hernandez. She died Sept. 14, 1999.
She was a PBX operator for Matagorda General Hospital. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and a former member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church.
Mrs. Buckley is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Alfred R. and Adriene Buckley of Bay City; her mother, Genoveva Hernandez of Bay City; her fiance, Robert Diaz of Bay City; sisters, Julia Martinez of Freeport, Virginia Zarate of Bay City and Esmeralda Melgar of Palacios; and two grandchildren, Joshua Jones and Alyssa Buckley. She was preceded in death by her father, Fredrico Hernandez; and a sister, Cindy Hernandez.
