CLARENCE W. 'BUCKY' KRUSE
Funeral services for Clarence W. “Bucky” Kruse, 85, of Palacios, Tx., were held Dec. 9, 2011 at the Palacios Funeral Home. Burial was at the Palacios cemetery.
Mr. Kruse was born July 1, 1926 in Thomaston, Tx. to the late William Franklin and Sadie Mae Dedear Kruse. He passed Dec. 4, 2011.
Bucky proudly served in World War II with the U. S. Marine Corps. He had been a butcher with HEB.
He is suvived by a brother, James Kruse, of Palacios.
ALVIN LEON BANNERT
Funeral services for Alvin Leon Bannert, 85, of Palacios, Tx., were held Dec. 2, 2011 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home with Rev. Hollie Briscoe officiating. Interment followed at Holy Cross Memorial Park in El Campo, Tx. with military honors.
Mr. Bannert was born Oct. 31, 1926 in Hallettsville, Tx. to Adolph German Bannert and Mary Pauline Slanina Bannert. He passed away Nov. 28, 2011.
He was married
48 years to Mary Ellen Peterson Bannert.
Our dad joins his parents, wife, brothers Adolph Henry Bannert & Leon Bannert, daughter Ellen Bannert Venglar, grandchildren Sheila Linette Carter, Chad Anthony Rogers, Christopher Allen Rogers, Justin Bannert and Joseph Hadley.
Dad’s proud legacy includes Korean War Veteran RA 18 307 582 Corporal with Merit U EMB, Korean Service Medal, 1-O/S Bar with 3 Bronze Stars - Korea. He was a member and Quarter-Master of VFW Post 2467 in Palacios. He retired from Alcoa where he had been a millwright.
Survivors include his children Sharon Bannert Harter & husband Forrest, Alvin Dale Bannert & wife Janie, Mary Wolfe & husband John, Emil Bannert & wife Jo Lynn, & Marshal Bannert & wife DiAna; Grandchildren Michielle Carter, Pete Kiernan, Greg Carter & fiancée Dana Ramsey, Amy Neal & husband Corey, Stacey Kinney & husband Jeffery, Scott Allen Bannert, Ryan Bannert & wife Brittany, Cathy Sykara, Lisa Nicole Bannert, Jessica Muscalek & husband Scott, Jonathan Bannert & Blake Bannert; great grandchildren Jennifer & Autumn Olszak, Alex & Anthony Kiernan, Logan Dale & Dustin Carter, Hoyt, Kason & Kylee Klump, Michael & Devin Miles, Claire Bannert, Irie Jane & Miles Kinney, James Benjamin Neal, Jasmine Simicek, Kirsten & Scott Muscalek, Jr. and Isabel Hadley; sister Elizabeth Rasmussen; special cousin Gertrude Culver whom shard his birthdate!; and nieces, nephews and cousins too numerous to mention.
Pallbearers will be Scott Bannert, Ryan Bannert, Greg Carter, Jonathan Bannert, Scott Muscalek and Kevin Bannert. All former veterans, especially those who served in Korea, will be honorary pallbearers.

ALBERT SAINZ
A Funeral Mass for Albert Sainz, 48, of Palacios, Tx., was held Nov. 19, 2011 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Palacios.
Mr. Sainz was born on Sept. 28, 1963 to Jose B. Sainz and the late Lucia Garcia Sainz. He passed away on Nov. 11, 2011.
His mother and brother, Joe John Sainz, preceded him in death.
He is survived by his father, Jose B. Sainz; sisters Erlinda Welch of Amarillo, Tx., Olga Hillof Odessa, Tx., Lucinda Garcia of San Antonio, Tx. and Otilia Vargas of Palacios; and several nieces and nephews.

CARROLL LYNN HARVEY
Funeral Services for Carroll L. Harvey, 75, was held Nov. 19, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church in Palacios, Tx.
Mr. Harvey was born on Aug. 16, 1936 to Cleddie G. Harvey and Fern Powers Harvey in Palacios. He passed away Nov. 15, 2011 at Methodist Hospital in Houston, Tx.
Carroll served in the Army Reserves from 1957-1963. He was a farmer and rancher for over 35 years until his retirement. During his life, he was a Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo lifetime committee member, a Palacios Lions Club past president and Melvin Jones Award recipient, Texas Lions Camp Century Club key holder, Palacios Trail Riders past president, American Paint Horse Association lifetime member, past Matagorda County Farm Bureau board member, a member of the Sons of the Republic of Texas, and member of the First United Methodist Church in Palacios.
He developed a love for horses at a very young age and he had a particular fondness for black and white paint horses which he raised and showed for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Joyce Allen Harvey; daughter Lisa Harvey Moore and husband, Dwayne, of Victoria, Tx.; son, Alain Harvey and wife, Penny, of Houston; three grandchildren, Conor Harvey, Gareth Harvey, and Clayton Moore; sister, Bobbie Middleton and husband Bob of College Station, Tx.; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant daughter, Linda Jo Harvey.

SANDRA SCHNEIDER KOCH
A Memorial Service for Sandra Schneider Koch, 63, of Palacios, Tx., were held Nov. 12, 2011 at First United Methodist Church in Palacios with Louis Rush officiating.
Mrs. Koch was born Jan. 20, 1948 in Houston, Tx. to the late Alvin H. Schneider, Sr. and Vera Arthell Schneider. She was welcomed into Heaven on Nov. 8, 2011.
Sandra worked many years at Palacios Abstract and Title Company, a job she truly loved. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Her smile was contagious and she considered life as a blessing.
She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Robert W. Koch, Jr.; sons Robert John Koch and wife, Robyn, and her first grandson and the joy of her life, Connor Louis Koch, of Richmond, Tx., and Scott Alvin Koch of Palacios; sister Sharon Duke; brother Alvin H. Schneider, Jr.; and many nieces and nephews.
Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Arthell Schneider, and sister, Tammy Diaz.

JUANITA ‘NITA’ DIAZ
Funeral services for Nita Diaz, 52, were held Nov. 12, 2011 at Living Word Church in Palacios, Tx.
A memorial service was at Overcoming Faith Christian Center in Arlington, Tx. on Nov. 9, 2011.
Mrs. Diaz was born in Galveston, Tx. on April 25, 1959 to Maurilio and Frances Rodriguez. She passed away Nov. 7, 2011.
She was raised in Palacios where she graduated from Palacios High School. She worked at Palacios Independent School District for over 15 years.
Nita had a passionate love for her family and friends. She married
her best friend, Joe Diaz, at the age of 18 and enjoyed 33 years of marriage. Nita was a woman full of love, love for people and love for her God. Although her love, sense of humor, and laughter will be greatly missed, we know she is fully satisfied in the presence of her Creator.
Nita is survived by her husband, Joe Diaz, her children, son J.D. Diaz and his wife Jessica, daughter Amy Freeze and her husband Kody; her five grandchildren: Andrew, Jenna, Kyrie, Bella, and Kamryn; her parents, Maurilio and Frances Rodriguez; brother, Mario Rodriguez; and sister, Janet “GiGi” Rodriguez.
EDWARD RAMOS, SR.
Funeral services for Edward Ramos, Sr. 75 of Palacios, Tx., were held Nov. 10, 2011 at Church of God of Prophecy in Palacios. Interment was at Palacios cemetery.
Mr. Ramos passed away Nov. 4, 2011.
He was preceded in death by his parents Sepriano Ramos, Manuela Garcia Quionez; sisters Mary Valdez, Josephina Ramos Ochoa; sons Larry Ramos and Jesse Ramos; and daughter Cynthia Ramos.
He is survived by daughters Diana Gayton, Cathy Garcia, Sarah Garcia and Vicki Ramos; son Edward Ramos Jr.; sister Jesusa Ochoa Herrera; brother Fransico Ochoa; 17 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

COLUMBUS MAYO TIPPETT, JR.
Funeral services for Columbus Mayo Tippett, Jr. (Click), 76, were held Nov. 8, 2011 at the Palacios Funeral Home with Rev. Billie Burch officiating. Interment was at the Palacios cemetery with military honors.
Mr. Tippett was born on Oct. 1, 1935 in Kaufman, Tx. to the late Columbus Mayo and Virginia Viola Bummgardner Tippett. He was called home on Nov. 5, 2011
He was a loving PoPo. He was an avid mechanic and fisherman. He proudly served his country in the Navy. He was a very loving, friendly man with a great sense of humor.
He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years: Patricia Reyes Tippett; children Anthony David Tippett and wife Anella, Katrina Tippett and husband Martin Lopez, Keith Tippett, Ricky Dale Tippett, Jeff Tippett, Anita Tippett and Cindy Tippett; grandchildren Ashley Nichole Tippett, Dizarey Marie Tippett, Anthony David Tippett Jr., Tommy Kaulana, Kylah Mahealani Tippett, Zoe Abriana Lopez, Isabel Renee Lopez and Emma Marie Lopez; and numerous great-grandchildren and other relatives.
