RUBYE NEUSZER RAMPMEIER

Funeral services for Rubye Neuszer Rampmeier, 91, of the Deutschburg Community, were held March 24, 2000 at the Palacios Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Andy Blair officiating. Interment was at Deutschburg cemetery.
Mrs. Rampmeier was born March 1, 1909 in DeWitt County, Tx. to the late John and Catherine Hester Neuszer. She died March 20, 2000.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Palacios, a resident of the Deutschburg Community since 1927, a retired rancher, and a former active member of the Deutschburg Community Club and Home Demonstration Club.
She is survived by two daughters, Norma Rampmeier and Janice Rampmeier, both of the Deutschburg Community; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ken and Carolyn Rampmeier of High Point, N.C., and Al and Yvonne Rampmeier of Bryan, Tx.; a grandson, Keith Jeffrey Rampmeier of Irvine, CA.; four granddaughters, Gina Andrie and husband George of China Springs, Tx., Cara Beth Dudley and husband David of High Point, N.C., Kristina Borland and husband Huntor of Bryan, Tx., and Suzanne Risinger and husband Brian of College Station, Tx.; six great-grandchildren; and a niece, Gladys Askeland and husband Bob of Bloomington, MN.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin George Rampmeier, and two brothers, L. P. and W. R. Neuszer.
Pallbearers were Oswald Kubecka, Dick Kubecka, Howard Tanner, Frank Pierce, Larry Dillard and Walter Day. Honorary pallbearers were Frank Johs, Paul Cooper, Edwin Wengler, Judy Ryman, Barbara Conitz and Petra Zanbrano.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Palacios Special Olympics, c/o Carolyn Bradshaw LaQue, 504 Welch, Palacios, Tx. 77465 or the Deutschburg cemetery Association.

JOHN THOMAS JASEK

A rosary for John Thomas Jasek, 31, of Portland, N.D. and formerly of Blessing, was held March 21 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Blessing. Memorial services were March 25 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Blessing with Father Samuel Appiasi officiating.
Mr. Jasek was born July 8, 1968 in Bay City to Leonard and Helen Jasek of Blessing. He died March 19, 2000. He graduated from Tidehaven High School in 1986 and was a graduate of Texas A&M; University.
He is survived by his wife, Vicky Long Jasek; stepchildren Justin and Tika; parents, Leonard and Helen Jasek of Blessing; sisters Debbie Jasek of College Station, Nancy FitzSimon and husband, Steve, of San Antonio, Jennifer Kidd and husband, Doug, of Fruithurst, Ala., Mary Jasek of College Station, Barbara Corporon and husband, Victor, of Collegeport, and Lisa Batchelder and husband, Brent, of Palacios; brothers Leonard W. Jasek and Andy Jasek, both of Blessing; and eight nieces and nephews.

DAISY BULLINGTON THOMPSON

Funeral services for Daisy Bullington Thompson, 89, of Markham, were held March 18, 2000 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Joe Ramsey officiating. Interment was at Hawley cemetery.
Mrs. Thompson was born October 16, 1910 in Madison County, Texas to the late David L. and Minnie M. Bullington. She died Wednesday, March 15, 2000.
A member of the Baptist Church, Mrs. Thompson was also a member of the Markham Senior Citizens Center and a long time resident of Matagorda County, residing in Collegeport and Markham.
She is survived by a daughter, Pat Whitmire of Markham; a sister and brother, Minnie "Tootsie" and Frank Gayle of Markham; grandchildren, Bob Thompson, Sammy Thompson, Teddy Joe Witmire II, and Tami Jo Whitmire; ten great-grandchildren; and by many nieces, nephews and friends.

MARGARET JOHNSON

Funeral services for Margaret Johnson, 66, of Tres Palacios, Tx. were held March 16, 2000 at the Davis Funeral Chapel in Needville with Rev. Bob Birch officiating. Interment was at Needville Public cemetery.
Mrs. Johnson was born Sept. 14, 1933 in Lee County, Tx. to Loy Taylor and Ivy Lee Rhodes Taylor. She died March 13, 2000 in Houston. She was a member of Solid Rock Fellowship Church in Palacios.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Joe Johnson, of Tres Palacios; daughter and son-in-law, Sarah Elizabeth and Chris Kresta of Shape, Belgium; sons and daughters-in-law, James Turk and Collette Johnson of McAllen, Tx., Billy Joe Johnson of Boling; Avery and Beverly Johnson of Claremore, Okla., and Matt and Becky Johnson of Boling; sisters Elsie Black of Markham, Tx., Vernie Lee Younts of Bay City, Tx., Hope Auld of Boling, Tx. and Pee Wee Hoffman of Linden, Tx.; brothers R. C. Taylor of Linden, Tx., Dayton Taylor of Ganado, Tx., Jim Taylor of Colville, Wa.; 15 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Kenneth Black, Mike Black, Dwayne Walker, Dee Taylor, Lee Hamilton, and Kyle Auld. Honorary pallbearers were Dwayne Taylor, Tony Auld and Tom Black.

AGNES KUNEFKE

Funeral services for Agnes Kunefke, 72, of Palacios, were held March 16 at the First Baptist Church of Palacios with the Rev. Hollas Hoffman officiating. Interment was at Palacios cemetery.
Mrs. Kunefke was born Aug. 20, 1927, in Palacios, to the late Lloyd Neri and Hannah J. Jackson Maples. She died March 13, 2000.
She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of Palacios.
She is survived by her husband, Leonard D. Kunefke Sr. of Palacios; daughters, Lynelle Plant of Crosby, Kathy Conrad of Humble, Vicki Kunefke and Beverly Martin, both of Palacios; sisters, Margaret Obergfell of Ridgecrest, Calif., Kathy Maples Medve of Roundtop, Darlene Denham of Houston; brothers, Bennett Denham of Fresno, Barkley Denham of Houston; six grandchildren and two great-grandchldren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Byron, Ernest, Wilbur, Kyle and Norman Maples.

MAMIE WELLS

Funeral services for Mamie Wells, 86, of Collegeport, were held March 3, 2000 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev’s Andy and Janell Blair officiating. Interment followed in Hawley cemetery.
Mrs. Wells was born June 29, 1913 in Collegeport to the late Gustav Albert and Ellen Augusta Bladlund Franzen. She died March 1, 2000 at the Legacy.
A lifelong resident of Collegeport, Mrs. Wells was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Collegeport.
She is survived by 2 daughters and a son-in-law, Mary Louise Tanner of Waco, and Lynda and Buddy Lenz of Collegeport; a son and daughter-in-law, Gerald and Bettye Wells of Alleyton; a sister, Dorothy Merek of Collegeport; 2 brothers and 2 sister-in-laws, Alex Franzen of Collegeport, James and Ann Franzen of Pearl River, La, and Ida Mae Franzen of Collegeport; grandchildren, Steve and Debbie Fitzpatrick, Alan Fitzpatrick, Meloni and J.B. Cason, Traylor and Gena Lenz and Garrett Lenz; 6 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Wells was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald F. "Jerry" Wells, Sr., brothers; Arnold, Clifford and Carl Franzen and a sister; Ellen Franzen Bryan.
Pallbearers were Steve and Alan Fitzpatrick, Traylor and Garrett Lenz, J. B. Cason and G.W. Franzen. Honorary pallbearers will be Session members of Collegeport First Presbyterian Church.

RAY W. LEGG

Funeral services for Ray W. Legg, 80, of Victoria, were held Feb. 25, 2000 at Palacios Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Shamburger officiating. Interment was in Palacios cemetery.
Mr. Legg was born Dec. 5, 1919 in Palacios to the late Early Roy and Lela Bernice Evans Legg. He died Feb. 22, 2000 at Retama Manor South in Victoria.
He has been a resident of Victoria for the past five years. He was a former resident of Curero and a former long time resident of Angleton. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Victoria, a life member of the Alvin Masonic Lodge #762 AF and AM, a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and International Association of Machinist and Aerospace Workers Lodge #128. A veteran of WW II serving in the US Army Air Force, Mr. Legg was a retired Mechanical Engineer with Dow Chemical Company.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Dorsey Legg of Victoria; two daughters and sons-in-law: Cathy and Calvin McCormick of Victoria and Donna and Dan Beto of Bryan; two sisters and a brother-in-law: Glenith Parker of Palacios and Alice and Harry Burghardt of Austin; brother and sisters-in-law: Rev. Jesse and Billie Jean Legg of Houston and Mary Ann Legg of Rockdale; one grandson, Joseph McCormick of Victoria and one great-grandson, Andrew Campbell of Houston. Mr. Legg was preceded in death by two brothers, Dan And Early James Legg.

FERNANDO ‘FRED’ DIAZ, III

Funeral services for Fernando “Fred” Diaz, III, 42, of Houston, were held Feb. 18, 2000 at Living Word Church in Palacios with the Rev. Tony Flores officiating. Interment was at Palacios cemetery.
Mr. Diaz was born Dec. 12, 1957 in New Gulf, Tx. to Fernando “Fred” and Sadie Cortez Diaz, Jr. He died Feb. 14, 2000 in Houston. He was a journeyman and a Presbyterian.
He is survived by his wife, Christina Zamora-Diaz; daughter, Christ Ann Diaz of Houston; sons, Fred. Diaz IV and William Diaz, both of Palacios; parents, Fernando “Fred“ and Sadie Cortez Diaz; a sister, Rosalinda Diaz of Palacios; and brothers, Joe Diaz and Mario Diaz, both of Palacios.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Diaz; and a grandfather, Fred Diaz, Sr.

EUGENE ALVIN ARNING

Funeral services for Eugene Alvin Arning, 63, of Palacios and formerly of Bellville, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2000 at Triska Funeral Home in El Campo with Rev. Bill Jenkins officiating. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Oak Knoll cemetery in Bellville with Rev. Willard Rotter officiating. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 22 at Triska Funeral Home.
Mr. Arning was born Sept. 25, 1936 in Kenney, Tx. to Arthur and Nettie Loesch Arning, Sr. He died Feb. 21, 2000.
He was a retired tool pusher. He worked in the oilfield for nearly 20 years before becoming co-owners of Arning Well Service with his brother.
He is survived by his wife, Tressie King Arning of Palacios; daughters Susanne White and Gena A. Chapa, both of El Campo; sons Kelton Arning of El Campo and Michael Arning of Houston; a sister, Frances Sims of Ganado; and brothers Arthur Arning Jr. and Elwood Arning, both of Bellville.
Pallbearers are Kelton Arning, Michael Arning, Erland Arning, Eric Arning, Bobby Sims and Larry Sims.

ANDY ANGEL FLORES

A funeral mass for Andy Angel Flores, 39, of Palacios was held Feb. 21 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church with Rev. Charles Dwomoh officiating. Interment was at Palacios cemetery.
Mr. Flores was born Aug. 2, 1960 in El Campo to Eulalio P. and Angelina Altamira Flores. He died Feb. 18, 2000.
He was a lifelong resident of Palacios, a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and worked as a Carpenter Foreman with HB Zachary Construction in Freeport.
He is survived by his children, Erika and Andrew Flores of Palacios; the mother of his children, Sofia Flores of Palacios; his parents, Eulalio and Angelina Flores of Palacios; sisters and brothers-in-law, Yolanda and Mickey Martinez of Clute, Linda and Tom Cochrane of Bay City, and Lilly Rocha of Palacios; a brother, Eulalio Flores, Jr.; and his fiancee, Nadine Flores of Baytown.
