JULIO ‘MARTY’ MARTIN TOBIAS
A Memorial service for Julio ‘Marty’ Martin Tobias, 54, was held July 10, 2011 at the Living Word Church in Palacios, Tx.
Marty, a law enforcement officer with the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Department, was born on Feb. 14, 1957 in Palacios and passed away on July 5, 2011.
He continued his family legacy as a law enforcement officer, a career he truly loved. He was an avid fisherman and hunter.
He is survived by his mother, Rosalie Tobias of Palacios; daughters: Lisa Kristine Murillo and husband Estevan Murillo III; Natalie Marie Tobias, and Samantha Alegria; granddaughter Isabella Soledad Murillo; brother, Manuel “Tommy” Tobias; sister, Mary Basset; nieces and nephews Monica Rocha and husband Pablo, Johnathan Tobias and wife Lisa, Kenny Moore, Nicholas Hendren, Elizabeth and Bethany Pense along with other relatives and many special friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Julia and Maria Tobias and father, Manuel Tobias.
ALFRED ‘FREDDY’ DE LEON, JR.
Funeral services for Alfred “Freddy” Wayne De Leon, Jr., 59, of Palacios, Tx., were held June 29, 2011 at Faith Family Church in Victoria, Tx.
Burial with full military honors under the auspices of the Victoria County Veterans Council, AL, CWV, VFW, DAV, MCL, MOWW, EX-POW, MOPH, VVA, and KWV was at Resurrection cemetery.
Mr. De Leon was born on May 17, 1952 in Victoria to the late Alfredo Delgado and Josephine De Leon. He passed away June 25, 2011.
He was a warehouseman for S.T.P. for 31 years. He touched the lives of everyone that he knew. Freddy will be greatly missed. He was a member of Faith Family Church. He was a Corporal in the United States Marine Corp and a member of the Palacios V.F.W.
He is survived by his wife, Tamara De Leon; sons, Alfred Wayne De Leon, III and wife Crystal, Michael J. Roberts and wife Ashley, and Cody Segovia; daughters Michelle Flores and husband Joe and Simone Roberts and husband Mike Rojas; sisters Sandra De Leon Keller and Rachel De Leon; brothers Jimmy De La Garza and wife Tweety, Robert De Leon, Sr. and wife Annie, Richard De Leon and Anthony De Leon; 11 grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and his dog, Roxie.
Pallbearers will be Michael J. Roberts, Cody Segovia, Eric De Leon, Adolph Gutierrez, James Garza and Joey Balderas.
Memorial donations can be made in Freddy’s memory to the American Liver Foundation or the National Kidney Foundation.

KATHERINE LORENA BURNS
Katherine Lorena Burns, 62, of Lolita, Tx., passed away June 10, 2011. Private family services will be held at a later date.
Mrs. Burns was born Dec. 16, 1948 to the late Clyde Marvin Holloway and Myrtle Irene Viets. She attended school in Palacios, Tx. and had worked at a waitress at Petersen’s Restaurant and a clerk at both Downtown Texaco and Covey’s Corner in Palacios.
She is survived by her husband Donald Burns; daughters Kristi Knebel and Kelli Curtis; son Steven Curtis; brother Gererad Holloway; and five grandchidlren.

IRVIN T. PETERSON
Funeral services for Irvin T. Peterson, 85, of Palacios, TX were held June 10, 2011 at First Baptist Church in Palacios with James Collins officiating. Interment ent was at Danevang cemetery in Danevang, Tx.
Mr. Petersen was born July 11, 1925 in Danevang to the late Axel Petersen and Signe Lycke Petersen. He passed away June 7, 2011 at his home.
He moved to Palacios in 1930 and graduated from High School in 1943. Irvin joined the navy in 1944. After the service he attended the University of Houston and graduated in 1950 with a degree in Business Management. He joined his sister Ann Lee Petersen as co-owner of Petersen’s Restaurant in 1950 and remained there for over 50 years.
Irvin had been actively supporting community projects, especially those involved with youth. He loved “The City By The Sea” and has always promoted it. He has been involved with local and state awards in FFA; Past Director of City State Bank; served as director of Matagorda Real Estate Finance; served as director of Palacios Industrial Foundation; served as director of Palacios Development Corporation; retired member and former secretary of Palacios Volunteer Fire Department; past president of Mid Coast Restaurant Chapter; Honoree of Chamber of Commerce Business of the Year Award in 1988; member and past president of Palacios Lions Club; member of Palacios Rotary Club; member and former secretary of Seawall Commission; and member of the local Masonic Lodge.
He loved gardening and spending time with his children and grandchildren and never missed an activity or sporting event for any of them as long as his health permitted.
He is survived by daughter Tami Fort of Palacios; son Brent Petersen and wife Dawn of Nassau Bay; grandchildren Amber Dale, Karch Petersen, Kyle Petersen, Spencer Fort, Heather Fort and Jennifer Fort; and great-granddaughter Kynleigh Steffek.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Letha Yearwood Petersen, brothers Eric and Leo Petersen; and sisters Ann Lee Petersen, Elnora Oglesby, Laura Adams, Gene Michelson and Ruth Blanton.
Pallbearers will be Terry Oglesby, Gerald Taylor, Tracy Perkins, Larry Taylor, Dax Oglesby, Trent Oglesby, Michael Glaros and Bill Glaros.
Memorials may be made to Houston Hospice of El Campo or the First Baptist Church of Palacios.

ROBIN RENEE HARR
Services for Robin Renee Harr, 45, of Victoria, Tx., were held June 9, 2011 at Agape Family Outreach Church, 1811 Newsome Blvd., Palacios, TX.
She was born Sept. 4, 1965, in Port Lavaca, Tx. to the late Frank Sanders and Lottie Dell Campbell Knipp. She passed away May 29, 2011.
She is survived by her daughter, Kristan Harr of Palacios; sons, Ryan Thomas Sanders of Palacios and Robert Anthony Sanders of Ganado; sister, Gina Schelle Ellis of Victoria; and brothers, Russell Eugene Flores of Palacios and Mark Randall Flores of Bandera, Tx.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Timothy Duane Flores.
BERTIE MAE BUFFALOE BLOMER
Graveside services for Bertie Mae Buffaloe Blomer, 94, of Palacios, Tx. were held June 6, 2011 at Palacios cemetery.
Mrs. Blomer was born Oct. 20, 1916, in Mabank, Tx. to the late Sel A. Buffaloe and Ruth Beatrice McDonald Buffaloe. She passed away June 1, 2011.
She was homemaker, a beautician, and a Baptist.
She is survived by her daughter, Judde Dominy Vardaman and husband David of Houston; granddaughter, Monica Herring and husband Cody of Tomball, Tx.; and great-grandchildren, Will Herring, Addison Herring, and Megan Herring, all of Tomball.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jay C. Blomer; sister, Myrtle Faye Baughman; and brother, Rufus Buffaloe.

THOMAS S. DIAZ
Funeral services for Thomas S. Diaz, 47, of Palacios, Tx., were held June 1, 2011 at Trinity Baptist Church in Palacios with the Rev. Joel Ramirez officiating.
Mr. Diaz was born April 3, 1964, in Palacios. He passed away May 28, 2011. He was a Baptist.
He is survived by his mother and step-father, Mary Lou Sandoval Seiser and Werner Seiser of Sargent, Tx.; wife, Michele Riala Diaz of Bay City, Tx.; sons, Joshua Baggett and Ryan Thomas Baggett, both of Palacios; brothers, Leo Diaz, Ernest Diaz Jr., and Refugio Pimentel, all of Houston; and one grandchild, Kendall Ellis of Palacios.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Diaz Sr.
Pallbearers were David Sandoval, James Munoz, Mark Vargas, Daniel Rivas, David DeLeon, Tommy Mapp, and Ernest Diaz Jr.

BRIAN MATTHEW JACKSON
Funeral services for Brian Matthew Jackson, 32, of Houston, formerly Palacios, Tx., were held May 26, 2011 at the Port Lavaca Church of Christ, with Wayne DeDear officiating. Burial was at Greenlawn Gardens cemetery in Port Lavaca, Tx.
Brian was born Nov. 28, 1978 in Houston to Shan Jackson and Cynthia Tanner Quinn. He passed away May 21, 2011.
Brian was a core analyst for Corelab Industries and was a member of the Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife, Julie Jackson of Houston; daughter, Madeline Jackson of Houston; father, Shan Jackson and wife, Linda, of Palacios; mother, Cynthia Quinn and husband, David, of Port Lavaca; grandmother, Maurine Jackson of Port Lavaca; sister, Casey Malone and husband, Ben, of Blessing; brother, Bo Jackson of Port Lavaca; and nephews, Jacob and Caleb Malone of Blessing.
Brian was preceded in death by his brother, Andy Jackson; and his grandparents, Woodie Jackson and Travis and Ethel Tanner.
