JOE JOHN SAINZ
Joe John Sainz, 58, of Palacios passed away Feb. 19, 2011. He was born to Joe B. Sainz of Palacios and the late Lucia Garcia Sainz.
He is survived by his father; daughters, Jennifer Lynn Sainz Bauer of Dettelbach, Germany and Maddison Malynn Sainz of East Bernard; sons, Brent John Sainz of Beavercreek, Ohio, Johnathan Douglas Gayle of Meyersville, Tyler Joe Sainz and Blake Nicholas Sainz, both of East Bernard; sisters Eerlinda Welch of Amarillo, Olga Hill of Odessa, Lucinda Garcia of San Antonio, and Otilia Vargas of Palacios;brother, Albert Sainz of Palacios; and six grandchildren.
Joe was a veteran serving in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam era and achieved the rank of sergeant. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and loved to work on automobiles and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren was also a member of St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church in Palacios.
Funeral services were held on February 24, 2011 with Father Bryan Heyer officiating.
Military honors were done under the auspices of the Veterans of Foreign Wars-Queen Hamlin Post 2467-Palacios and the Matagorda County Calvary.
Pallbearers were Nolan Keith Sainz, Brendan R. Sainz, Brent John Sainz, Johnathan Douglas Gayle, Tyler Joe Sainz, Blake Nicholas Sainz, Jaime Alanis, Eddie Garcia, Richard Perez and Ron Chavez.
LARRY EARL CORNETT
Larry Earl Cornett, 66, of Kerrville, TX, passed away Feb. 16, 2011, in Kerrville. He was born Aug. 27, 1944, in Tifton, GA, to Earl and Audrey (Justice) Cornett.
He is survived by his wife, Pam; sons, Michael of Colorado, Larry W. of Kerrville and David of Plainview, TX; stepson, Steve Gullett of Rockport, TX; grandchildren, Matthew of LaVernia, TX, Jordan and Taylor of Colorado, Devin, Diamond and David of Plainview, Logan McIlveen and Joel Etringer of LaVernia, and Darien and Jaylynn of Austin; brothers, Dick Ruddick of Tucson, AZ, and David Cornett of Chico, CA.
Larry proudly served his country in the U.S. Marines, the U.S. Army and the Army National Guard. He served three tours in Vietnam and was awarded three Purple Hearts, two Bronze Stars and a Silver Star. He moved to Kerrville in 2003 and was a life member of the American Legion Post 208, V.F.W. Post, Military Order of the Purple Heart, Vietnam Veterans of America and Big Brothers and Big Sisters.
He loved to travel and he was a member of the Kerr County Tax Office family. He was a caller at Bingo at the American Legion and loved doing that. He loved to tease and be teased and he loved children and his two Bostons, Barney and Suzie Q.
Memorial services were held Feb. 19, 2011 at Grimes Funeral Chapels with military honors and Alan Hill officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
HARRY CLIFFORD WRIGHT
Harry Clifford Wright, 65, of Palacios, Tx. passed away Feb. 11, 2011 following a brief, but brave battle with cancer. Memorial services will be held in Palacios at a date not yet announced.
He was born Dec. 27, 1945 in El Campo, Tx. to the late Charles B. and Martha McCoy Wright.
Clifford was 1964 graduate of Palacios High School. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Palacios, and a member of Masonic Lodge 990, A.F. & A.M. He also was an avid sportsman, hunting and fishing throughout Texas all of his life.
He is survived by daughters Debbie Renee Wright-Brayden and Sherri Denise Wright; and by a host of much loved grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a host of close friends and family members. He was preceded in death by infant daughter Rebecca Lynn Wright.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society and Houston-El Campo Hospice.

CAROLE JEAN RAASCH LARK
A celebration of the life of Carole Jean Raasch Lark, 67, of Carrizo Springs, Tx., was held Feb. 5, 2011 at Hawley cemetery near Blessing, Tx. with the Rev. Janell Blair officiating. Family and friends attending shared remembrances of Carole’s life.
Carole was born to John and Athlyn Raasch on Sept. 12, 1943 and went to be with her Heavenly Father after a lengthy illness on Dec. 16, 2010.
She is survived by her husband, Sam Lark of Bracketville, Tx.; son Rusty Woodland and wife Jenn and their children Jack and Lyn of San Antonio. She also leaves behind her stepsons and their children: Scott Lark and wife Stephanie and son Chas of Frisco, Tx.; Stephen Lark and wife Kari and children Payton, Hayden, and Madilyn of Bay City, Tx.; Tom Lark and wife Kandra and daughter Nicole of Frisco, Tx., along with her sister, Debbie Mosier and husband Terry of Palacios, Tx.; and nieces Mary Lynn Roe of Van Vleck, Tx. and Leigh Ann Roemer of Palacios.
OSCAR FRED GREER, JR.
Funeral services for Oscar Fred “Freddie” Greer, Jr., 41, of Palacios, Tx., were held Feb. 2, 2011 at Faith Temple in Nixon, Tx. Burial was at Bundick cemetery in Smiley, Tx.
Mr. Greer was born Dec. 15, 1969 in Richmond, Tx. to Oscar F. Greer Sr. and Gayle Fondon Greer. He died Jan. 27, 2011.
He was a welder and a member of Faith Temple.
He is survived by his wife Sarah Greer; daughter Faith Greer; sons Oscar Fred “Trey” Greer III, Christopher Greer-Vasques, and William Greer; father Oscar Fred Greer Sr. and wife Donna; mother Gayle Polachek and husband Leo; and brothers Kenneth Henderson and Tommy Henderson.

DR. BERNEY RAY KESZLER
A memorial service for Dr. Berney Ray Keszler, 68, of Victoria, Tx., was held Feb. 4, 2011 at Rosewood Funeral Chapel in Victoria with Rev. David Hudson officiating.
Dr. Keszler was born July 18, 1942, in Damon, Tx. to the late Edward and Millie Mae Keszler. He passed way Jan. 25, 2011.
He attended public school in Palacios, Tx. where he excelled in all sports and graduate in 1960. He attended Central State College in Edmond, Oklahoma, on a football scholarship and later played semi-pro football for the Wheeling West Virginia Ironmen.
He finished his pre-med studies at Ohio State University and attended two years of medical school in Guadalajara, Mexico, and graduated from Medical School at Texas Tech University in Lubbock.
Dr. Keszler had a family practice in Victoria from 1976-1979. He returned to school and received his anesthesiology degree from the UT Health Science Center in San Antonio. He returned to Victoria and retired in 2008.
He is survived by his daughter, Kassandra Kaye Garnett of Austin; son Kenneth Kyle Keszler of Martins Ferry, Ohio; granddaughters Chelsea Kaye and Karissa Carroll Garnett of Austin; sisters Elsie (Sonny) Stafford of Victoria, Margaret (Robert) Linton of Kingsville, and Darlene (Bobby) Walton of Victoria; brothers James Keszler of Richland, Washington, and Robert Lee (Joy) Keszler of Georgetown; step-daughter Susan (Gary) Stallard; step-son Wayne (Beth) Fuller, both of Lufkin; step-grandchildren Jay Weber of San Antonio, Erika Weber of College Station, Aimee Weber of Austin and Mackenzie Fuller of Lufkin.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Haus Keszler.
MARIA MAGDALENA ESPINOZA de SAENZ
Funeral services for Maria Magdalena Espinoza de Saenz, 58, of Palacios, Tx., were held Jan. 5, 2011 at St. Anthony De Padua Catholic Church in Palacios.
Interment was at Pantion de la Paz, Rio Bravo, Tamps., Mexico.
She was born May 12, 1952 in Rio Bravo, Tamps., Mexico to the late Antonio and Maria Gonzalez de Espinoza. She passed away Jan. 2, 2011.
She is survived by daughters Enedelia Rodriguez of Palacios, Martha Magdalena Rodriguez and Yadira Saenz, both of Rio Bravo; brothers Julian Espinoza of Merced, CA., Francisco Espinoza of Monterrey, N.L., Mexico and Jesus Espinoza of Weslaco, Tx.; and 10 grandchildren.

MINNIE FAYE MASSOLETTI FITZGERALD BAGGETT
Funeral services for Minnie Faye Massoletti Fitzgerald Baggett, 82, of Midfield, Tx., were held Jan. 3, 2011 at Triska Funeral Home in El Campo, Tx. with Pastor Don Storey officiating. Interment was at Midfield cemetery.
Mrs. Baggett was born May 7, 1928 in El Campo to the late William E. and Dora Langdon Massoletti. She passed away Dec. 29, 2010.
Minnie was a beautician and also worked for Tidehaven ISD in the school cafeteria and as a bus driver. She was a member of the American Legion in Blessing.
She is survived by daughters Priscilla Hurta of Midfield, and Addelia (Tiny) Magee and husband C.D. of Midfield; sons James E. Fitzgerald and wife Tina of Francitas, Tx., Leroy Fitzgerald and wife Diane of Inez, Tx., and Frank H. (Hank) Fitzgerald and wife Shelly of Midfield; step-daughter Peggy Baggett of Waco; step-son Irvin Baggett, Jr. and wife Ester of Palacios, Tx.; sister Irene Bram and husband Elve of El Campo; brother Archie Bob Massoletti and wife Bettye of Point Comfort, Tx.; 22 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews; and many extended family and friends from the Cowboy Country Corner in Midfield, Tx.
She was preceded in death by husbands Jimmie (Bob) Fitzgerald and Irvin Baggett; grandson Michael Magee, Sr.; and step-daughter Theresa Baggett.
Pallbearers were grandsons Danny Fitzgerald, Bishop Fitzgerald, Dustin Fitzgerald, Jason Hurta, Marty Harris and Tony Stewart. Honorary pallbearers are J.J. Fitzgerald, Lee Roy Cessor, Ervin Briscoe, Ken Cook, Henry Olsovsky, Robby Beisel, Jason Fitzgerald and Ray Fitzgerald.

TRACY A. CHILDERS
Funeral services for Tracy A. Childers, 40, of Bay City, Tx., were held Dec. 31, 2010 at Calvary Baptist Church in Bay City with Rev. Lane Pardue officiating. Interment was at Palacios cemetery in Palacios, Tx.
Mr. Childers was born Feb. 23, 1970 in Bay City. He went to be with the Lord on Dec. 27, 2010.
Tracy was raised in Palacios and there began his passion for fishing. He and his brother, Todd, enjoyed fishing and hunting together. He spent some of his teen years in Brazoria and eventually settled in Bay City.
His two children meant the world to him. He loved taking them to Le Tulle Park where they would fish for perch for him to use as bait. He was the light and life of everything he did. He was a very true and honest man. He worked very hard in the field of construction.
He made the “best” beef jerky around and was a horseshoe champion having won many tournaments. He sometimes out-fished himself and always looked forward to the next fishing or hunting date. He was a great teacher and loved his wife dearly as well as his step-children. He recently returned from a trip of a lifetime to Belize. He was able to live the life he wanted.
He leaves behind his wife Jennifer Childers; daughters Clarissa Childers and Kyndal Childers; step-children Emily Talasek and Matthew Talasek; his mother Diane Moehrig and husband Scotty; father Steven Childers and wife Denise; brother Todd Childers; sisters Jenna Ryder and husband Blake and Alyssa Harrison and husband Trae; grandmothers Aline Bickham and Jan Chambless; niece Audrey Harrison; and many other relatives and friends.
