MICHAEL ANTHONY FRAUSTO MARTINEZ
Funeral services for Michael “Lil Mike” Anthony Frausto Martinez, 18, of Palacios, Tx., were held Dec. 16, 2010 at Primera Iglesia Bautista in Palacios with the Rev. Juan Aguilera officiating. Interment was at Palacios cemetery.
Michael was born March 4, 1992, in Port Lavaca, Tx. He passed away Dec. 10, 2010.
He is survived by his mother, Janice Frausto of Palacios; father, Jose Luis Martinez Jr. of Palacios; sisters Nadia Martinez and Maribel Martinez, both of La Porte; brothers Joey Rene Frausto of Palacios, Jose Luis Martinez Jr. of La Porte, Caleb “Buddah” Valdez of Palacios, and Ismael Thompson of Victoria; grandparents Octavio Frausto Sr., Maria Diaz Frausto, and Josefa Vela Nieto, all of Palacios; and uncles Johnny Frausto of Palacios, Robert Frausto of Clute, and Octavio “Toby” Frausto Jr. of La Porte.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Manuel Nieto, and his uncle, Marvin Frausto.
Pallbearers were Toby Frausto III, Jimmy Sablatura, Eddie Garcia, San Juan Cabrales, Richard Cabrales, Isidro Nuno, Jimmy Frausto and Ismael Thompson.

MARY ALICE BUENTELLO
Funeral services for Mary Alice Buentello, 57, of Palacios, Tx., was held Dec. 16, 2010 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Palacios with Rev. Mike Buentello, Rev. Bryan Heyer and Rev. Dan Morales officiating. Interment was at Palacios cemetery.
Mary was born Oct. 31, 1953 in New Gulf, Tx. to Francisco L. Buentello and Frances Aparicio Buentello. She passed away Dec. 10, 2010 in Palacios.
She was raised in Palacios and had worked in Chicago, IL. She had resided in Palacios for the past five years. She was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church of Palacios and a Librarian.
She is survived by her parents, Francisco Luis Buentello and Frances Aparicio Buentello of Palacios; sisters Lucy Marie Cantu of Alice, Tx. and Mary Helen Anderson of Richwood, Tx.; brothers Francisco Luis Buentello, Jr. of Nashville, TN, Richard Buentello of Alexandria, VA, Fr. Mike Buentello of Houston, Tx., Danny Buentello of Lake Jackson, Tx., Steve Buentello of Angleton, Tx., Patrick Buentello of Angleton, Ralph Buentello of Victoria, Tx., and Carlos Buentello of Angleton; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
Her brothers served as pallbearers.

TIMOTHY WAYNE SIMICEK
Funeral services for Timothy Wayne Simicek, 43, of Palacios, formerly of Ganado, were held Dec. 7, 2010 at Ganado Funeral Home. Interment was at Assumption Catholic cemetery in Ganado.
He was born March 14, 1967 and passed away Dec. 2, 2010.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Meyers; daughters Jasmine Simicek of Blessing; stepdaughters, Adrienne Meyers, Amy Meyers, and Misti Meyers, all of Palacios; sisters Evelyn Reed of Ganado, Barbara Mazoch and husband Mark of Ganado, Brenda Cepak and husband Jerry of Ganado, and Karen Losoya and husband Robert of Palacios; and brother James Simicek of Ganado.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Angeline Simicek, and brothers Dennis Simicek and Larry Joe Simicek.
Pallbearers were Randy Matus, Stephen Spalek, Darrell Simons, Darrell Buckley, Randy Randall and Alvin Broussard.
RUBEN I. RAMIREZ, SR.
Funeral services for Ruben I. Ramirez, Sr., 74, of Palacios, Tx., were held Dec. 4, 2010 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Hebbronville, Tx. Interment was at New Hebbronville cemetery in Hebbronville.
Mr. Ramirez was born March 15, 1936 in Hebbronville, Tx. to Juan Lino Ramirez Sr. and Viola Trevino Ramirez. He passed away Nov. 28, 2010 in Bay City, Tx.
He was a resident of Matagorda County since 1982. He was the owner of TPO Express store and a member of the Catholic Church.
He is survived by his son Ruben Ibo Ramirez, Jr.; daughters Lori Crawford and Cheryl Brauner and her husband, Lonnie; stepsons Robert DeWoody and his wife Patty, and Danny DeWoody; sister Gloria Diana Gomez; brother Juan Lino Ramirez, Jr.; 15 grandchildren including Rochell Ramirez, Ruben I. Ramirez, III, Thomas James Carson, III, Pascale Crawford, Patrick Crawford, Amber Rosson, Zackary James Rosson and Erik Edward Brauner; and 2 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by a brother: Alonzo C. Ramirez.

JACK WILLIAM WAECHTER, JR.
Graveside services for Jack William Waechter, Jr., 60, of Palacios, Tx., were held Nov. 23, 2010 at Woodlawn Garden of Memories in Houston, Tx.
Mr. Waechter was born Feb. 6, 1950 in Brookhaven, Mississippi, to Jack and Louise Waechter. He passed away of pneumonia and heart failure on Nov. 20, 2010.
He moved to Palacios in 1973 where he resided until his passing.
He is survived by his mother, Alma Louise Waechter; brother Boyd F. Waechter and wife, Rebecca Cannon Waechter of Katy, Tx; and nephew Eric J. Waechter and his Monica Fuller Waechter of Baton Rouge, LA.
CATHERINE MARTINE BAIRD QUINN
Funeral services for Catherine Martine Baird Quinn, 84, were held Nov. 20, 2010 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Bay City with Father Gerry Cernoch officiating. Interment was at Hawley cemetery.
Mrs. Quinn went to be with her Lord on Nov. 13, 2010 in Bay City.
She is survived by her daughter, Vicki Baird Smith; sons Guy ‘Tony’ Baird, Jr. and wife Becki, Larry Baird and wife Beth Davis, Bill Quinn and wife Donna; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brother Ray Martine; sisters Agnes Delue, Theresa Kennedy, Mary Kuhn; and numerous nieces and nephews.
MILDRED 'Mickey' APRILLA CAVALLIN CRENSHAW
A memorial service for Mildred (Mickey) Aprilla Cavallin Crenshaw of Palacios, Tx. was held Nov. 14, 2010 at the First Presbyterian Church in Palacios.
Mrs. Crenshaw as born Nov. 21, 1925 in Matagorda County to Malcolm Owen and Aprilla Brock Cavallin. She passed away Nov. 12, 2010.
Mickey retired from South Texas Girl Scout Council and enjoyed spending more time with her family, volunteering with local organizations and was very faithful to her church, First Presbyterian of Palacios. She served in many capacities as an elder in her church and was deeply committed to the Palacios Area Historical Association and the Alapha Club.
She is survived by her daughters Janda Rieger of Aiken, South Carolina and Debbie (Tim) Chapman of Rockport, Tx.; grandsons Gabe Rieger, Chad Chapman, and Manning Chapman; five great-grandchildren; her sisters Lou (Roy) Markwardt and Sue (Sonny) Chiles; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Clyde Dwight Crenshaw, sister Dorothy Harrington, and brother Van Powell.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church, the Palacios Library or the Palacios Area Historical Association.
JUDY (MI CHA KO) WALLEN
A memorial service for Judy (Mi Cha Ko) Wallen, 69, of Palacios, Tx., was held Nov. 14, 2010 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Palacios. A private service was held afterwards for the family.
She was born Mi Cha Ko in rural Korea on Sept. 24, 1941. Our Lord called his faithful servent home on Nov. 3, 2010 after her work had been done.
Judy came to America in 1956 and lived in California and Las Vegas where she crocheted dresses for performers. She then moved to La Porte, Ind. where she met Byron Wallen. They married
May 20, 1975.
They lived in Florida for a while, then they decided to travel again, ending up on the Gulf Coast of Texas. They settled in Palacios where Judy opened a seamstress shop. She was well known throughout the community.
Judy was an active member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. She loved directing choir, singing, playing the organ, going fishing, spending time with her family, and took a special pride in her grandchildren.
Judy leaves behind Annette Schwenk, David Wallen, Patricia Wallen, and Michelle Schuff.
Her beloved grandchildren are Ramon Wallen, Tiffiny and (Jesse) Powers, Erica Wallen-Cifelli, Haily Curtis, Andrew Turner, Heath Turner, and Cassandra Black (Maresa Schuff, Joey Schuff, Stephanie Black, and Kristin Black). She also had seven godchildren and many loved friends.
She joins her beloved husband, Byron J. Wallen, in heaven.
Contribution may be made in her name to her church or make a contribution to her family to help with her financial expenses.
