HORACE NEIL ARNOLD
Graveside services for Horace Neil Arnold, 93, of Palacios, Tx. and formerly of El Campo, Tx., were held April 23, 2010 at Palacios cemetery under the auspices of Bay City Masonic Lodge #865 A.F. & A.M.
Mr. Arnold was born July 27, 1916 in Quanah, Tx. to the late Roscoe V. and Susan Templeton Arnold. He died April 19, 2010.
He worked for the FAA in management. He was a member of the Palacios Masonic Lodge #990 A.F. & A.M., Lions Club of Palacios and Tucumcari, NM, and Elks Lodge #1172 where he held many offices for each.
He is survived by his daughters Betty Mosier and husband Eddie of Elkhart, Tx., Mary Ann Sexton and husband Carlton, and Sue Peal of Corpus Christi; nine grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Evelyn Lamphier Arnold, and brother Paul Templeton Arnold.

JOHN OSCAR BOETTCHER
Graveside services for John Oscar Boettcher, 79, of Palacios and Pasadena, Tx., were held April 16, 2010 at Palacios cemetery.
Mr. Boettcher was born Dec. 11, 1930 in Weimar, Tx. to Lillian and Francis Boettcher. He passed away April. 12, 2010.
He was Valedictorian of Weimar High School and a graduate of Baylor University. He was co-founder of Boettcher Insurance Agency and Assurance Management Associates, Inc. John was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He is survived by wife Ruby Schneider Boettcher; children Steve Boettcher and wife Shannon, Lisa Caledonia and husband Dana, Ricky Milam and wife Penny, Becky Garcia and husband Pat; and grandchildren John and Erin Boettcher, Nick, Casey and Kendall Caledonia, Daphni Bowers (Brandon), Tiffany Seaman (Joe), Brittany Seaman (Rudy), Amanda Ressler (Donald), and Angela Flores (Louis); and great-grandchildren Ava and MaKena Bowers and Macy Pena, and Joel, Makynzie and Kacee.
He was preceded in death by Mary Lee Bell Boettcher.

TERI LEE KELLY
Graveside services for Teri Lee Kelly, 49, of Palacios, Tx. were held April 12, 2010 at Hawley cemetery near Blessing, Tx. with Bro. Shan Jackson officiating.
Mrs. Kelly was born Aug. 18, 1960 in Bay City, Tx. to the late Howard Fremont and Gail Lois Johnson Mozley. She passed away April 10, 2010.
Survivors include her husband Don Kelly of Palacios; sons Justin Lynn Kelly of San Antonio, Dylan James Kelly of Houston and Lucas Mozley Kelly of Victoria; brother Monty Mozley of Bay City; and grandchildren Laila Ashley Kelly and Roman Patrick Kelly.
LESTER OWEN CAVENDER
Funeral services for Lester Owen Cavender, 77, of Palacios, Tx., were held April 12, 2010, at Rosewood Funeral Chapels in Victoria, Tx. with Rev. Jack Bourland officiating.
Masonic graveside services and full military graveside services under the auspices of the Victoria Veterans Council, AL, CWV, VFW, DAV, MCL, MOWW, Ex-POW, MPOH. VVA and KWV were at Memory Gardens cemetery.
Mr. Cavender was born Dec. 24, 1932, in Quitman, Arkansas, to Verrlie Alma Owen Cavender and the late LaFeyette Lester Cavender. He passed away April 6, 2010.
He served his country in the US Navy during the Korean conflict. He was a retired budget analyst for the Army Corps of Engineers. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge in Hitchcock, and a member of the Scottish Rite.
Survivors include his mother, Verrlie Cavender of BeeBe, Ark.; sons, Don Cavender of Victoria, Eric Cavender of Texas City and Russell Owen Cavender of Palacios; brother, Bill Cavender and wife, Felecia, of BeeBe, Ark.; grandchildren Erica Cavender of LaMarque, Joshua Cavender and Michael Cavender of Sante Fe, Laura Cavender of Santa Monica, Calif., and Tyler Cavender of Palacios; and 6 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Ronnie Dogan, Robbie Crites, Leo Orsak and Phill Richmond.

LAURA MARGARET TELLER MASON
Celebration of Life services for Laura Margaret Teller Mason, 89, of Burleson, Tx., were held April 7, 2010 at First Baptist Church in Burleson. Interment was at Birta cemetery in Birta, Ark.
Laura was born Aug. 15, 1920, in Seadrift. She was the proud daughter of Norwegian-born Karl Martin Teller and Texan Ruth Elvira Madden Teller. She passed away quietly with her family at her side and went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 1, 2010.
She was a loving and caring mother and grandmother. Her father was the lighthouse keeper for the Matagorda Island Lighthouse and Halfmoon Reef Lighthouse. Laura’s early years were spent just blocks from the Gulf of Mexico, where she loved the water, swimming daily and cooking fresh crabs with her friends on the shore. The friends she made as a child remained lifelong friends.
Her father, mother and five brothers played and made their musical instruments. Laura was the youngest and given the violin. The family enjoyed playing music in the evening.
After graduation, Laura took a job in Palacios, where she met and married
Donald Mason in December 1941. While Donald was in the Army, they lived in Riverside, Calif., and Spokane, Wash. They settled in San Antonio after the birth of their children and moved to Fort Worth in 1956.
Laura Mason was a federal employee and worked at the Fort Worth Federal Depot for many years in the office of contract management. She retired after 30 years of service. After retirement she and Don moved to Whitney, where she worked at the Corps of Engineers.
She was very devoted and active in the lives of her children and grandchildren. They were her joy.
Laura was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Burleson. She was active with her Sunday school group and the Prime Timers.
When the children were grown, she turned her focus on her community and found time to be an active and lifetime member of the Burleson Town & Country Garden Club where she served as secretary and treasurer for many years. She was a member of the Burleson Eumathian Club. She was an active member in the Historical Society in Burleson.
Although it wasn’t a club, her closest friends met for the “Tuesday Morning Breakfast Club” for many years in Burleson, where they visited and solved the world’s problems.
She is survived by son Donald Mason Jr. and wife, Rita F., of Burleson; daughter Sheryle Gasparini and husband, John, of Fort Worth; grandchildren Michael B. Wright Jr. of Albuquerque, N.M., Donald Mason III and wife, Katie, of Denver, Colo., John F. Mason and wife, DaSandra, of Denver, Colo., Amanda Gasparini of Fort Worth, Sabrina Gasparini of Fort Worth; great-grandson, Joshua James Mason of Denver, Colo.; nephew, Charles Teller and wife, Judy, of Bonham; and close family members in Arkansas and Texas as well as in Oslo and Trondheim, Norway.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Mason; mother, Ruth Madden Teller; father, Karl Charles Teller; brothers, Lee, Cecil, Herman, Raymond and Frank Teller; and sister, Ruth.
JACQUELINE J. HOLT
Funeral services for Jacqueline J. Holt, 86, of Palacios, Tx., were held April 3, 2010 at the First Baptist Church in Palacios with Rev. Zach Nicholson officiating. Interment was at Hawley cemetery in Blessing.
Mrs. Holt was born July 19, 1923 in Palacios to the late Ron Calvin and Lyda Gaye Williams Huddleston. She passed away April 2, 2010.
She was married
to Billy Holt. She was past Assistant Vice President of the City State Bank of Palacios; member of the Bridge Club; member of the Alpha Club; and honorary member of the Harmonie Club.
Survivors include son Chipper Holt and wife Barbara of Pasadena; daughter Patti Bertsch and husband Mark of Bay City; grandchildren Billy Joe Holt of San Antonio, Leigh Taylor Holt of Houston, Laura and Amy Bertsch of Bay City; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Billy; brothers Wayne and K. D. “Buttsey”; and sister Elaine.
Pallbearers were Billy Joe Holt, Rod, Scott and Steve Shafer, Jarod Sissom, Craig Becker and Austin Shepard.

JAMES HOUSTON ELLIOTT
Funeral servies for James Houston Elliott, 24, of Moss Point, MS, were held March 27, 2010 at New Horizons Ministries Church in Escatawpa, MS.
Mr. Elliott was born June 18, 1985 in Palacios, Tx. He passed away March 23, 2010.
He was a correctional officer with the Moss Point Police Department.
He is survived by his wife, Bethany Elliott of Moss Point; mother, Susan Elliott of Moss Point; father, Terry Elliott of Texas; brother, Joshua Elliott of Moss Point; sister, Jessica Aline Carmon of Moss Point; grandparents, Melvin and Shirley Bickham of Esctawpa, MS; grandmothers, Hattie Byron or Pascagoula, MS and Aline Bickham of Palacios; aunts and uncles, Danny (Cheryl) Selover, Dr. David (Denise) Parrish of Pascagoula and Carl Bickham of Moss Point; and many cousins and special friends.
He was preceded in death by his uncle Melvin Ray Bickham, Jr. and his great grandfather Houston Bickham.
