JESSIE VERNON PARENT
Graveside services for Jessie Vernon Parent, 74, of Kiowa, OK, were held Jan. 16, 2010 at Pine Top cemetery in Pittsburg, OK with Rev. Lowman Parent and Rev. James Crowson officiating. Military honors provided by the Fort Sill Honor Guard.
Mr. Parent was born June 2, 1935 in Pittsburg, OK to the late Glee and Lola Belle Parker Parent. He passed away Jan. 12, 2010.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He worked as an Aeronautic Engineer for Aerojet Aerospace in California and was later a heavy equipment mechanic.
He married
Pasty Hardung, who had been a resident of Palacios, TX for 18 years, in 1975. They enjoyed fishing at Palacios area bays.
He is survived by his wife, Patsy; sons and daughters-in-law Spring and Jessie Vernon Parent Jr. of LaPorte, TX., Marilyn and David Allen Parent of Logansport, LA., Shelley and William Glee Parent of Seattle, WA., and Gary Lynn Parent of Logansport; daughter and son-in-law DeVaLaRee and Randy Renshaw of Joaquin, TX; sister Ina Marie Dahlquist and husband Bill of Hemet, CA; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; Uncle Clifton ‘Fuzzy’, Uncle Joe; numerous nieces and nephews; and Bruno the family dog.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Anna Lee Vaughn; brother, Johnny Parent; and nephew Dennis Vaughn.
Pallbearers were William Parent, Jessie Vernon Parent Jr., David Parent, Gary Parent, George Johnston and Alfred Nalley. Honorary pallbearers were Allan Crawley, Mark Crawley, Don Hernandez, Leon O’Dell, James Weaver, Donald Parent, Jimmy Neal and Bear Gilliam.
JOHNNIE JOE NEDBALEK
Graveside services for Johnnie Joe Nedbalek, Sr., 81, of Blessing, Tx., were held Jan. 14, 2010 at Hawley cemetery.
Mr. Nedbalek was born May 5, 1928 in Blessing to John M. Nedbalek and Annie Barinka Nedbalek. He passed away Jan. 12, 2010 in Bay City.
He was a lifelong resident of the Blessing area and retired as a foreman from the oil field.
He is survived by his wife: Ethel Marie Nicholson Nedbalek of Blessing, TX: by his daughters and sons-in-law: Barbara & Neil Jensen of El Campo, Judy Nedbalek of Missouri City, Sandy & Larry Stelzel of East Bernard, Cathy & Richard Halbison of Victoria, Linda & Lewis Griffith of Midfield, and Gail & Tim Otto of Hempstead; by his son: Johnnie Nedbalek, Jr of Francitas; his sisters: Lillie Kana of Houston and Annie Mazoch of Louisiana; a brother: Emil Nedbalek of Houston; and by 15 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and one brother.

FRANCIS ‘Frank’ D. PEARCE
Funeral services for Francis Dorton Pearce, 87, of the Deutschburg Community, Jackson County, Texas, were held Jan. 12, 2010 at Oaklawn Funeral Home in Edna, Tx. with Rev. Raymond Wiseman officiating. Internment was at Memory Gardens of Edna cemetery.
Francis, also known as Frank, was born on Sept. 29, 1922 in LaWard, Tx. to the late Ben and Florence Dorton Pearce. He passed away Jan. 8, 2010.
He grew up in Francitas, Tx. and served in the US Army as a sergeant in the 557 Tank Company in World War II. He married
his childhood sweetheart, Lillie Mae Pearce on Oct. 26, 1942. Frank went to work in 1946 for the Francitas Gas Company and Neuman Gas where he continued to work for 40 years as a line foreman. He retired from his position with the company in 1985. Frank and Lillie began to travel together and saw many places around the world and enjoyed meeting people.
Frank was an active member of the Point Comfort Church of Christ. He was considered by those he knew to be a well respected, dignified, caring and generous man. He was a deeply adored husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Lillie Mae Green Pearce of Palacios; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Jean Pearce of Fulton; granddaughter, Erin Pearce Cruzan and husband Kenny; grandson, Matthew Ben Pearce; and great grandchildren, Camryn and Cason Cruzan, all of Rockport.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Harold Ben Pearce and Morgan Pearce; and sister, Mary Pearce Howell.
Pallbearers were Larry Dillard, Matthew Pearce, Kenny Cruzan, Glenn Green, Billy Gene Yendrey and William Earl Gates. Honorary pallbearers were Paul Cooper, Floyd Perry, Ken Griffin, Billy Felts and J. V. Hammon.

WANDA JEWELL THEDFORD HARVEY
Funeral services for Wanda Jewell Thedford Harvey, 76, of Palacios, Tx., were held Dec. 28, 2009 at the First Baptist Church in Palacios with Rev. Zach Nicholson officiating. Interment was at Red Bluff cemetery in Lolita, Tx.
Mrs. Harvey was born Nov. 12, 1933 in Lolita, Tx., to the late Quinton R. and Gene Carradine Thedford. She was the second of six children. She passed away Dec. 24, 2009.
Wanda was employed at Alcoa for over 45 years and a member of the 25 year club. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Palacios, the Koinonia Sunday School Class and the Palacios Alapha Club.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Charles Harvey; daughters Sharlynn Ripke and husband Ricky of Seguin and Vicki Lang and husband Zach of Franklin, TN; five dearly loved grandchildren, Leah and Trevor Ripke, Madelyn, Max and Mason Lang; sister Hope Alberty; and brothers Pierce, Dennis and Gary Thedford; and many special nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Roswell Thedford.

TERESA de JESUS IRACHETA VEGA
Funeral services for Teresa de Jesus Iracheta Vega, 49, of Palacios, Tx., were held Dec. 23, 2009 at Primera Iglesia Bautista in Palacios with Pastor Juan Agulera officiating. Interment was at St. Peter’s Catholic cemetery in Blessing, Tx.
Mrs. Vega was born Oct. 3, 1960 in Valle Hermosa, Tamps., Mexico to the late Paz and Guadalupe Hernandez Iracheta. She died Dec. 20, 2009.
She is survived by her husband, Eleazar Vega of Palacios; daughter Teresita Vega of Palacios; mother-in-law Catalina Ramirez de Vega of Rio Bravo, Tamps., Mexico; sisters Herminia Iracheta de Macias and Anna Maria Iracheta de Salazar, both of Rio Bravo, Tamps., Mexico, Amalia Iracheta de Macias of Palacios, Dina Iracheta de Macias of Blessing and Rosalinda Iracheta de Ayala of Donna, Tx.; brothers Tomas Iracheta of Boling, Tx., Juan Iracheta of Rio Bravo, Tamps, Mexico, Daniel Iracheta of Donna, Jose Paz Iracheta Silva of Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, and Juan Iracheta Silva of Allende, Coah., Mexico; and grandson Eleazar Juan Hernandez of Palacios.

WESLEY VERNON WRIGHT
Funeral services for Wesley Vernon, Wright, 89, of Port Lavaca, Tx. were held Dec. 21, 2009 at the First United Methodist Church in Palacios, Tx. Interment was at Hawley cemetery in Blessing.
Mr. Wright was born Feb. 24, 1920 in Jackson County to Minnie (Stevens) and Benjamin Buel Wright. He passed away Dec. 17, 2009 at Port Lavaca Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
He married
Alice Johs Schuelke on June 19, 1953 in Palacios where they lived until 2005.
He enlisted in the Army in 1938 and was discharged in 1945. He was a Staff Sergeant during WWII while he served in Central Europe. He retired from Alcoa Aluminum and was a member of the 25 Year Club. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Palacios.
Vernon will be remembered for his love of outdoors, gardening, fishing and dancing. He was known for always having a witty humor.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Alice Wright; son Larry Schuelke and wife Melissa; daughters Barbara Woods and Verna Kay Bowers and husband Leslie; grandchildren Stacy and Wendy Schuelke, Nicholas Jost, Kristi and Tyler Jackson, Jennifer Herrerra and Keith Brown and wife Bridget; and 5 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Jack and Leslie Wright; and sisters Tressie and Effie Smith and Faye Walton.

BONNIE JEAN GRAFF
Funeral services for Bonnie Jean Graff, 81, of Palacios, Tx. were held Dec. 19, 2009 at the First United Methodist Church in Palacios with Rev. June White officiating. Interment was at Hawley cemetery in Blessing.
Mrs. Graff was born June 1, 1928 in Bradford, Ark. to the late Festus and Thelma Whitley White. She passed away Dec. 16, 2009.
Her husband, John Graff and sister Bobbie Cox preceded her in death.
She is survived by daughter Carol Ann Burnett and husband Robert of Goliad, Tx; son Rick Graff and wife Keri of El Campo, Tx.; sister Pat Norris of Brazoria, Tx.; brothers James White of Gladewater, Tx., Ronnie White and Mickey White both of Angleton, Tx.; and grandsons Robert John Burnett, James Dean Burnett, William Cade Graff and Matthew Payne Graff.
Pallbearers were Dickie Kubecka, James A. Lingo, Pete Griffith, Allan Janek, George Capak and Mike Pierce, Jr.
