EVA DEL BOSQUE FLORES
A memorial service for Eva Del Bosque Flores, 71, of West Columbia, Tx., was held Sept. 26, 2008 at Palacios Funeral Home Chapel in Palacios, Tx.
Mrs. Flores was born Jan. 22, 1937 in Weslaco, Tx to Lazarus Del Bosque and Amelia Villarreal Del Bosque. She died Sept. 18, 2008.
She was a resident of West Columbia for the past three years and was formerly a long time resident of Palacios.
She is survived by daughters Gloria F. Vargas of Randallstown, MD, Darleen Flores of Palacios, and Denise Suarez and husband Emilio of West Columbia; son Carlos Flores III of McAllen, Tx.; sisters Sylvia Romo of McAllen, Janie Degollado of San Antonio and Alma Del Bosque of McAllen; brothers Enrigue, Veve, and Noe Del Bosque, all of Orange Cove, CA and Rudy Del Bosque of Houston; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband Charlie Flores, Jr.; her parents; a son: Jaime Flores; and a brother: Adam Del Bosque.

ROBERT EUGENE ABRAHAM
Funeral services for Robert Eugene Abraham, 79, of Palacios, Tx. were held Sept. 19, 2008 at the First United Methodist Church in Palacios with Rev. June White officiating. Interment was at Olivia cemetery in Olivia, TX.
Mr. Abraham was born Sept. 5, 1929 in Palacios to the late Elmer H. and Ethel Swinson Abraham. He died Sept. 15, 2008.
He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and worked at Alcoa for many years.
He is survived by sisters Lorraine O’Connell of Hot Springs Village, AK, Laverne Zandanel of Monessen, PA, Betty Amador of Mont Belvieu, Tx. and Sandra Dudley of Humble, Tx.; and brothers Herbert Abraham of Virginia and Dennis Abraham of West Columbia, Tx.

DUNG NGOC 'Joe' NGUYEN
Funeral services for Dung Ngoc 'Joe' Nguyen, 18, of Victoria, were held Sept. 6, 2008 at St. Anthony Vietnamese Apostalate Church with Rev. Khoa Mai Xuoh officating. Interment was at Palacios cemetery.
He was born May 7, 1989 in Palacios, Tx. to Trun Van and Kim Tuyet Nguyen. He died Sept. 1, 2008.
He is survived by his parents Trun Van and Kim Tuyet Nguyen of Victoria; sisters Phuong Kim Nguyen of Victoria and Linh Ngoc Nguyen of California and brothers Hoang Ngoc Nguyen of Mississippi and Jonathan Hung Nguyen of Victoria.
STEVEN RASK
Graveside services for Steven Rask, 54, of Midfield, Tx., were held Sept. 3, 2008 at Midfield cemetery with Pastor Clyde Grier officiating.
Mr. Rask was born June 1, 1954 in Fort Stewart, GA to Gordon Rask and Margie Harter Rask. He died Aug. 31, 2008.
He traveled with a military father and mother from Georgia, to North Carolina, to Alaska, and finally to Fort Hood, TX. Steve left home in 1975 to be on his own and would eventually settle down in Midfield, TX some 25 years ago.
He was well known and liked by all who knew him. He was a meticulous carpenter who worked on everything from building new houses to remodeling and restoring many old ones. No job was too big or too small for Steve. He built his own home in Midfield, taking almost five years to complete his most beloved project. Steve would always go out of his way to lend a hand to any one needing help and his friendship will never be forgotten. He will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his parents, Gordon and Margie, his two sisters, Susan and Teresa, his brother Mike, his wife Dorothy, her son Curtis, and so many friends whom he cared for and loved very much.
Pallbearers were Bubba Briscoe, CB Cairnes, Kenneth Cook, Steven LaBar, Curtis Warchesik and Gene Woodson. Honorary pallbearer was Hank Fitzgerald.
ROBERT LEE POLK
Funeral services for Robert Lee Polk, 80, of Palacios, TX, were held Aug. 23, 2008 at The New Pilgrim Rose Baptist Church with Reverend Leroy Monroe officiating. Interment was at Palacios cemetery.
Mr. Polk was born June 5, 1928 in Eagle Lake, Tx. to the late Melvin Polk and Rosie Lee Heard. He passed away on Aug, 12, 2008.
He is survived by a daughter, Equella Goodall of Palacios; sons Robert Lee Polk Jr. of Houston and Anthony Ray Polk of El Paso; sisters Velma Jedkins, Hattie Collins, Bessie Boone all of Houston, Annie D. Thomas of Palacios, and Olivia King of Los Angeles, Calif.; brother Dwight Polk of Palacios; three grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Glene Polk.

ANNA LOUISE ‘Teeny’ PRINDLE
Funeral services for Anna Louise “Teeny” Prindle, 85, of Jacksboro, Tx, were held Aug. 20, 2008 at the Church of Christ in Jacksboro with pastor Joe Williams of the Edgemere Church of Christ officiating with David Alessandro assisting.
Mrs. Prindle was born on Jan. 6, 1923 in St. Louis, Mo. to Michael and Mary (Kynerd) Alessandro. She died Aug. 18, 2008.
A former longtime resident of Palacios, she married
Ira Cornell Prindle in 1939 in Mexico. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ in Jacksboro.
She is survived by her brothers David Alessandro and Van Alessandro and his wife Joanne; children Diana Dodson and husband Jerry, Sara Williams and husband Joe and Nick Prindle and wife Rhonda; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years Ira on Aug. 7, 1991; her parents; a brother Michael Alessandro; and a sister Virginia Post.

Funeral services for Ramona Fernandez Servantes, 87, of Palacios, Tx., were held Aug. 16, 2008 at The Living Word Church with Pastor Tony Flores officiating. Interment was at Palacios cemetery.
Mrs. Servantes was born March 28, 1921 in Edna, Tx. to Francisca Altamira and Lucas Fernandez, Sr. She died Aug. 12, 2008.
She is survived by daughters Pat C. Solis and Ramona Flores, both of Palacios; son Ysidro Servantes, Jr. of Palacios; 16 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ysidro Servantes, Sr.; daughter Refugia Salinas, son Cecil Servantes; sister Maria Fernandez Garcia; and brothers Eluterio Fernandez, Tomas Fernandez, Lucas Fernandez Jr., and George Fernandez.

Mr. Zarate was born Feb. 23, 1980 in Victoria, Tx. to Linda Rodriguez and Adelaido ‘J. R.’ Zarate, both of Wharton. He died Aug. 4, 2008.
He was a iron worker with J&B; Erectors and a member of the Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Cynthia Hernandez Zarate, daughter Celeste Ariana Zarate and son Seth Dominik all of Austin; his parents; sister Leandra Nguyen of Houston; and brothers Jeremy Zarate of Palacios and Gabriel Zarate of Wharton.

Graveside services for Katherine Overman, 95, of Palacios, TX, were held Aug. 7, 2008 at Palacios cemetery with Lay Vicar Cynthia Tobola from St. John’s Episcopal Church of Palacios officiating.
Mrs. Overman was born Dec. 24, 1912 in Houston, TX to the late William J. Cade and Martha S. Ringgold Cade. She passed away Aug. 3, 2008.
She was a member of the Episcopal Church, a retired medical laboratory manager, and had resided at Schicke Point since 1983.
She is survived by her husband C. L. Overman of Palacios; son James Sparra of Palacios; grandson Hunt Sparra; and great-grandson Hunt Jackson Sparra.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and by six brothers and sisters.
