U. S. ‘Chuck’ McMILLAN
Funeral services forU. S. “Chuck” McMillan, 90, formerly of Tin Top, Tx. were held June 11, 2012 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home in Bay City with Rev. Andy Blair officiating. Interment was at Hawley cemetery in Blessing.
Mr. McMillan was born Jan. 7, 1922 in El Campo, Tx. to the late Urban Summer McMillan and Clara Dell Stapleton McMillan. He passed away June 7, 2012.
He graduated from El Campo High School and was married
to Flora Isaacson McMillan for 59 years until her death in 2002. He was owner of The McMillan Cotton Gin and Modern Crop Chemicals. He was a WWII Veteran an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and R.V.’ing. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Collegeport and served on the church board for many years. He was also a member of Collegeport Volunteer Fire Dept., American Legion Post #649 and a charter member of Ricebelt Sams Travel Club.
He is survived by his children and their spouses, Stanley & Marolyn McMillan, Jr. of Louise, Virginia & Ben Stanley of Seymour and Nancy & Lee Richey of Victoria; six granddaughters Robin Thonsgaard, Lori Baca, Lea Roberts, Julia Blaylock, Marcy Nelson and Amanda McLain; 15 great-grandchildren and brother Waymon McMillan of Mackey, Tx.
In addition to his parents and wife his sister Dawn Benson and great granddaughter Jolee Baca preceded him in death.
Pallbearers were Jonathan Thonsgaard, Steven Baca, Victor Corporon, G. W. Franzen and Joe Jenkins.

FRANK BRISENO RODRIGUEZ
Frank B. Rodriguez, 59, of Palacios passed away on May 20, 2012 in Houston.
Frank was born on June 4 1952 in Palacios to Bernardo Sr. and Savina B. Rodriguez. He served in the United States Army (ret.) and attended Living Word Church.
He was a loving son, brother, grandfather and friend. frank enlisted in the U.S. Army at ahe age of 19 where he served his country with honor and pride. He received medals, ribbons, Specialist 5 rnking and served overseasin Vietnam. He loved spending time with his family and relaxing down on the Palacios bayfront.
He is survived by his mother, Savina B. Rodriguez of Victoria; the mother of his children, Olga Rodriguez; daughter Sheila Ramirez (Santiago) of Victoria and grandsons Jose, Juan and Robert; daughter Stephanie Sosa of Palacios with grandchildren Hillary Rodriguez, Paulette Rodriguez, Edward and Sammy Sosa and Jenna Jimenez; son Joel Rodriguez, Sr. (Megan) of Port Lavaca and granchildren Joel, Jr., Ethan Mason and Sophia; sisters Guadalupe ‘Lupe’ Hammonds and Manuela Morales (Joe) of Palacios; brothers Bernanrdo Rodrigeuz Jr., of Victoria; Vincent Rodriguez (Delores) of La Porte; Trinidad Rodriguez of Pasadena; Margarito ‘Mago’ Rodriguez of Victoria; Adam Rodgriguez of Palacios; Simon Rodriguez (Elizabeth) of Wharton; Tomas Rodrigeuz (Aurora) of Victoria, and Anthony Rodgriguez (Nancy) of Ashland, Ky.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bernardo Rodriguez, Sr.
MILDRED MARIE KALAS
Funeral services for Mildred Marie Kalas, 88, of Palacios, Tx. were held May 30, 2012 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church with Rev. Bryan Heyer officiating. Interment was at St. Peter’s Catholic cemetery in Blessing, Tx.
Mrs. Kalas was born Feb. 7, 1924 in Frenstat, Tx., to the late John F. Hlavaty and Mary Hlavaty . She passed away May 26, 2012.
She and her husband operated Kalas Grocery in Palacios for many years.
Survivors include daughter Rita Gold Ocana and husband Hector of Bryan, Tx.; son Joe Kalas and wife Sherry of Sugar Land, Tx.; brother Jerome Hlavaty of Lolita, Tx.; grandchildren John Kalas and wife Kim, Jennifer Cassada and husband Brad, Brian Gold, Michelle Campbell and husband Doug, Kristi Barker and husband Blake and Kara Gold; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Joe A. Kalas.
Pallbearers were Lawrence Collins Jr., Jerome “Butch” Hlavaty, Joseph John Kalas Jr., Blake Barger, Edward Dorotik, Jr. and Brian Gold.

KATIE NORENE MURRY
Graveside services for Katie Norene Murry, 91, of Collegeport, Tx., were held May 28, 2012 at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck, Tx. with Rev. Sid Tenery officiating.
Mrs. Murry was born April 10, 1921 in Broaddus, Tx. to the late Elijah Harvey and Stella Mae Coleman Harvey. She passed away May 15, 2012.
She was preceded in death by her husband James Robert Murry, Sr. and son Mark Paul Murry.
Survivors include son James Robert Murry, Jr. and wife Jean of Collegeport; sisters Tenie Fief and Shirley Lecompte both of Danbury, Tx.; brother Clifford Harvey of Bay City, Tx; grandchildren Paul Murry and wife Stacie, Robert Murry and David Murry and wife Lynsey; and great-grandchildren Gage, Emma and Cayson Murry.
RAMONA DENNIS HOFFMAN
Funeral services were held for Ramona Dennis Hoffman at Forest Oaks Mausoleum in Austin, Tx.
Ramona was born in 1932 in Bristow, Oklahoma. She married
Roger Hoffman in 1949. She passed away in her home on May 21, 2012.
She was very active with the group at the Senior’s Center crocheting caps for children with cancer. She belonged to the First Presbyterian Church and was a cheerful addition to the congregation. Ramona and Roger Hoffman joined the population of Palacios in 2001 after 15 years of RV’ing to Palacios in the winter from Lubbock, Tx.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Hoffman; mother Edith Crawford; and father Charles Frazier and sister Carolyn Jean Rowe.
She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law Robin and Robert Reynolds, Roxanne McNeil, Rebecca and Karl Henry and son and daughter-in-law Richard and Dondi Hoffman; along with 14 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; sisters Betty Smith and Patricia Taylor; brothers Robert Frazier and Harold Crawford.
TWILA CORENA WILLIAMS
Twila Corena Williams of Placedo, Tx. died May 4, 2012 at the age of 72.
She was born on July 1, 1939 in Palacios, Tx, to the late Charles Austin and Ethel Willingham Williams.
She had worked at Hinzes Bar-B-Q in Wharton for 10 years and then was a hotel clerk at Homer Norton Hotel in Rosenberg for many years before her retirement.
She is survived by her children Christine Poppinga of Brazoria, Tx., Dennis Johnson of Freeport, Tx., Shannon Johnson of Sweeny, Tx., and Diana Johnson Redd of Placedo; brothers Delmar Williams of Kingsville, Tx., Oland Williams of CA, and Andy Williams of LA; sister Wanda Gonzales of Galveston, Tx.; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Jimmie, Vernon and Bennie Williams; sisters Dolly Coopman, Faye Baker, Frankie Tumlinson; and granddaughter Brandi Johnson.

CELIA HASKINS
The Mass of the Resurrection Celia Haskins, 78, will held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 11, 2012 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Palacios with Father Bryan Heyer officiating.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:30 p.m. at Palacios Funeral Home.
Mrs. Haskins was born on October 16, 1933 in San Benito, Tx. to the late Jose and Romana Salines Gonzales. She went to be with the Lord on May 5, 2012.
Celia was a loving mother and grandmother, kind and giving. She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Haskins Koegel and husband Karl; grandchildren Phillip Euellen Haskins, Gabriella, Abigail and Nathan Koegel; brother, Celso Gonzales; and numerous other loving relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Arthur Lee, sister Janie Aparicio, and brothers Ignacio and Rololfo.

FRANK WISHARD
Funeral services for Frank Wishard, 80, of Palacios, Tx. will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 11, 2012 at the First Baptist Church in Blessing, Tx.
Mr. Wishard was born on April 16, 1932 in Kansas City, KS and passed away on April 28, 2012.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Joyce Wishard; children Michael (Wanda) of Porter, TX; John (Sheri) of Pearland, TX; Linda Collins (Vic) of Houston; and Paula Higgins (Craig) of San Antonio; two brothers, CJ (Myrna) and Jerry (Alice); brother-in-law Frank Sharp, Jr.; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
GRACE PIERCE ADAMS
Funeral services for Grace Pierce Adams, 80, of Tyler, Tx., were held on April 30, 2012 in Tyler.
Mrs. Adams, widow of the late Walter H. Adams, Jr. of Tyler, was born Dec. 21, 1922 to Abel and Stella Pierce of Palacios. She returned to Heaven on April 27, 2012, in Arlington, Texas.
She resided in Tyler for more than fifty years. She loved family, cooking, gardening and beautiful music. After retiring from ETMC, Grace lived in Florida and studied creative writing authoring short stories and a book.
Mrs. Adams was a beloved wife and mother of four children. She leaves on earth her children - Dr. Anne Botsford-Puretz, of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; Margaret M. Adams of Ft. Myers, FL: Walter H. Adams of Mansfield, TX; Priscilla Adams Goode of Houston, TX.; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and a brother, John Pierce, of Katy, TX.
