Funeral services for James Leo Hagaman, Jr., 51, of Blessing, were held March 21, 2005 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Blessing with Rev. Gary Janak officiating. Interment was at Hawley cemetery in Blessing. Mr. Hagaman born on January 12, 1954 in Bay City to James Leo Hagaman, Sr. and Bertha Jane Genzer Hagaman. He passed away March 19, 2005 at his residence after a year long battle with cancer. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, a retired supervisor for Alcoa Aluminum of Point Comfort & Rockdale, a former EMT, volunteer firefighter, member of the Knights of Columbus and a Catholic. He is survived by his wife, Bettie Mae Holloway Hagaman of Blessing; his daughter & son-in-law: Stacy & Andy Novak of Blessing; his son & daughter-in-law: Cody & Marla Hagaman of Aransas Pass; mother-in-law: Ruth Holloway of Blessing; sister: Teresa West of Bay City; and grandson: Dalton James Novak of Blessing. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bertha & James L. Hagaman, Sr.; his father-in-law: Floyd Merdith Holloway; and by his brother, Samuel Hagaman. Pallbearers will be Jake Foltyn, W. C. ROY ELVIN DAVIS
Graveside services for Roy Elvin "Dick" Davis, 88, of Bay City, were held March 18, 2005 at Hawley cemetery in Blessing, Tx. with Rev. Howard Harper officiating. Mr. Davis was born Nov. 11, 1916 to the late Oral and Essie White Davis. He died March 16, 2005 at the Matagorda Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. A former resident of Blessing, Tx and member of the Baptist Church, he was also a veteran of WW II serving in the U.S. Army. He is survived by a sister, Marie Holsworth of Palacios; a brother, Richard Davis of Mineral Wells, Tx.; and a friend, Nina Robins of Bay City. Arrangements were with Taylor Brothers Funeral Home in Bay City.
ROBERT 'BOB' VICTOR LOFF
Funeral services for Robert "Bob" Victor Loff, 98, of Palacios, were held March 15, 2005 at Palacios Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ray Wells officiating. Interment was at Palacios cemetery. He was born Oct. 20, 1906, in Kandiyohi Co., Minn., to the late Andrew and Hulda Johnson Loff. He died March 13, 2005. Mr. Loff was a resident of Schicke Point since the early 1950s and was a member of the Methodist Church. He was a veteran of World War II and U.S. Army Air Corps and a member of Cecil Lee American Legion Post No. 649 of Blessing. He owned and operated Bob's Bait Camp at Schicke Point for more than 20 years, and was a Methodist. He is survived by his sister, Else Loff Olson of Schicke Point and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by: sisters, Helen Frankson, Edith Frankson, and Minnie Irwin; brothers, Walter, Darwin, Matt and Arvid Loff; and nephew Wilburn Frankson. Arrangements were with Taylor Bros. WILLIE BRISTER
Funeral services for Willie Brister, 96, of Carrollton and formerly of Palacios and Zavala, were held March 11, 2005 at Palacios Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. D. W. Moses officiating. Interment was at Palacios cemetery. Mr. Brister was born June 14, 1908, in San Augustine, to the late Henry James and Charlsie Morning Marshall Brister. He died March 4, 2005. He was a member of the Methodist Church. He is survived by sons Donald Ray Brister of Carrollton and William Shelton Brister of Schertz; sisters Maggie Drawhorn of Zavala, Emily Harvey and Melba McCroy, both of Palacios, Elaine Melling of Groves, Dorothy Hamlin of Sweeny, and E. Jean LeClair of Pearland; brother L.J. Brister of Palacios; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice Brister; sisters, Leva Moses, Eva Norwood, and Johnnie Mae Hamlin; and brothers, Aaron Brister, Marshall Brister, and Henry Brister. NAN WOODWORTH RHODES
Funeral services for Nan Woodworth Rhodes, 85, were held March 4, 2005 at Memorial Presbyterian Church in St. Augustine, Tx. Interment was in Rhodes Whispering Pines Family cemetery in St. Augustine, Tx. Mrs. Rhodes was born in Washington, D.C. on June 12, 1919 to Edwin B. and Nell Doig Woodworth. She passed away Feb. 28, 2005 at the home of her daughter in Palacios, Tx. She attended the Art Institute in San Franciso where she met John Edward Linadbury. The couple were maried in Vancouver British Columbia in 1942. The family moved to Houston in 1950 and then to Victoria and Corpus Christi where Nan was involved in ther talent as an interior designer. Nan loved the beauty of the East Texas trees. She was an active member of Memorial Presbyterian Church in San Augustine as well as a volunteer with the Care and Share charity and other organizations. She is survived by her children, son, John W. Lindabury and wife Ruth; daughter, E. Gail Lindabury Purvis and husband Jerry; stepsons Leon Rhodes and wife Janet, and Wallace Rhodes; step-daughters Esther Rhodes Monroe and husband Richard, Patrice Rhodes Laughlin and husband Dick; grandchildren Jeremy Lindabury, Elizabeth Nan Rogers, Julee Aguilera, Jason Bradbury, Heather Byerly, Cindy Smith, and Heather Croft; and great-grandchildren Jonah Rogers, Joshua, Caleb, Christopher, Hanna, and Timothy Smith, Darren Croft, Melony Croft and Emily Croft. Mrs. Collins was born Feb. 22, 1932 in Lyfort, Tx. to the late Eddie and Lula Mae Mayes Hall. She died March 4, 2005. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Everett of Lockhart Tx.; son, Danny Ray Tumblinson of Humble, Tx; sister, Geraldine Hagens of San Antonio; and brother, Leslie Hall of Bedias. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley Collins; and sisters, Jody Gunther, Mable Tumblinson, and Janice Stanley.

Funeral services for Bobby Gene Beard, 74, of Sweeny, Tx., were held Feb. 26, 2005 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home in Bay City with Rev. Bill Thorp officiating. Interment was at Palacios cemetery. Mr. Beard was born Jan. 24, 1931 in Palacios to the late John Lewis and Edna Dee Tweedle Beard. He died Feb. 21, 2005 at his home. He was a resident of Matagorda County for the past 37 years and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Old Ocean. He was a veteran of the Korean War having served in the U. S. Navy. He was a life member of VFW Post 8551 of Old Ocean, Tx. He is survived by his wife, Josephine Billeau Beard of Sweeny; daughters and son-in-law Becyk and Travis Wombwell of Macon, Mo., Yvonne Neal of Sweeny, and Darlene Wright of Russellville, KY.; sons and daughter-in-law Denver and Cindy Beard of Gatesville, Tx., Bobby Jack Beard and James Luther Beard both of Sweeny; sisters Audrey Geron of Fort Worth and Barbara Johnson of Sweeny; brothers Buck and Jack Beard of Bay City and John Beard of Waco, Tx.; 17 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Interment was at Hawley cemetery near Blessing. Mrs. Bohuslar was was born June 17, 1910 to the late Robert Lee and Dolly Murphy Maxwell in Hagensport, Texas. She died Feb. 18, 2005. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. She is survived by her daughters Bernice Bohuslar and husband Willie of Markham, and Dorothy Wolfe of El Campo; sister Pat Gunnels; brother Robert Maxwell; grandchildren Willie Bohuslar, Jr and wife Elaine, Patricia Frieda, Tammy Efting and husband Lee, and Debbie Radley and husband Craig; great-grandchildren Robbie and Russell Frieda, Tim and Jeremy Bohuslar, Erin and Kaitlyn Efting, Cade and Coy Radley, and Amy Lee; and step-children Agnes Backhus, Marie Bird, Lillian Bratcher, Johnnie Greenwood and Bessie Skarpa. She was born Jan. 2, 1952, in Acambaro, Guanajuato, Mexico, to Juan and Antonia Brito Pina, of Acambaro, Guanajuato, Mexico. She died Feb. 14, 2005. She was a homemaker and a Catholic. She is survived by her husband, Guadalupe R. Muniz Sr.; daughters, Audelia Muniz Vidal of Edna and Maria Lilia Muniz of Palacios; sons, Jorge "George" Muniz, Guadalupe Muniz Jr., Roberto Muniz, and Alfredo J. Funeral services for David McKissick, 48, of El Campo, were held Feb. 17, 2005 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home in Bay City with the Rev. Bob Hobbins officiating. Interment was at Ashby cemetery. Mr. McKissick was born Dec. 20, 1956 in Bay City, Tx. to Gyle Thompson and Thelma Jones McKissick. He died Feb. 14, 2005 in Garden City, Tx. A resident of El Campo for the past year, he was a former longtime resident of Buckeye, Tx. He is survived by his mother, Thelma McKissick of Bay City; daughters Sarah McKissick of Palacios, Tx., Shandi Matthews of Hendersonville, Tenn., Randi Lee of White House, Tenn., and Kaysie Ryman of Van Vleck, Tx.; half-sisters Marie Moser of Milam, N.M., and Wanda Maxey of Grenada, Miss.; brother Mike McKissick of Deutschburg Community; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Gyle McKissick, and sister, Gail Luna.
