Funeral services for Que Thi Nguyen, 89, of Palacios, were held Feb. 19, 2005 at St. Anthony's of Padua Vietnamese Apostolate with Rev. Joe Pham officiating. Interment was at Palacios cemetery. Mrs. Nguyen was born Oct. 9, 1915 in Vietnam to the late Thin Nguyen and Thin Nguyen. She died Feb. 10, 2005 at the Palacios Community Medical Center. She was a resident of Palacios for the past 15 years and a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church. She is survived by daughters Thi Ngoan Nguyen, Thi Tinh Nguyen, Thi Che Nguyen, Thi Ngot Nguyen and Thi Thom Nguyen; sons Van Toi Nguyen and Van Pham Nguyen; and 10 grandchildren. LEONARD ARLEN HARVEY
Funeral services for Leonard Arlen Harvey, 49, of Corpus ChristI, Tx. were held Feb. 13, 2005 at the Palacios Funeral Home. Interment was at Palacios cemetery. A native of Port Lavaca, Tx., Mr. Harvey was born July 20, 1955 to Johnnie Lee Arthur Harvey and the late Earley Arlen Harvey. He died Feb. 10, 2005 in a Corpus Christi hospital. He was a resident of Corpus Christi for the past 21 years and was a member of the Baptist Church. Survivors include his mother, Johnnie Lee Harvey of Palacios; three sisters and four brothers-in-law: Laura and Jerry Claborn of San Antonio, Rose and Rick Williams of Palacios, Wendy and Bryan Spiegel of Victoria, and Floyd Backus of Chilton; four brothers and a sister-in-law: Dennis Harvey, Sr. and Johnny Harvey, both of Palacios, James and Janet Harvey of El Campo, and Glen Harvey of San Antonio. He was preceded in death by a sister, Jackie Backus.
WILLIE GORDON LAWSON MOLL
Funeral services for Willie Gordon Lawson Moll, 89, of Bay City and formerly of Palacios were held Feb. 6, 2005 at St. John's Episcopal Church in Palacios with Pastor James Ely officiating. Interment was at Palacios cemetery. Ms. Moll was born November 6, 1915 in Palacios Tx. She was taken home by angels Feb. 4, 2005 at the Bay Villa Nursing Home in Bay City. She had been a resident of Bay City for the past ten years and was a longtime resident of Palacios. She is survived by two sons, David Moll and wife Hazel, of Niederwald, Tx., and George Moll and wife Diane of California; four grandchildren and nine great grand-children.
ELTON BRISTER
Funeral services for Elton Brister, 87, of Bay City and formerly of Palacios, were held Jan. 29, 2005 at Taylor Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Bay City with the Rev. Melvin Ryman officiating. Interment was at Palacios cemetery. Mr. Brister was born July 15, 1917, in San Augustine, Tx. to the late Henry James and Charlsie Marshall Brister. He died Jan. 27, 2005 at the Matagorda Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center in Bay City. He had been a resident of Bay City for thepast five years and was a longtime resident of Palacios. He retired from Alcoa in 1978 with 29 years of service. He is survived by daughters, Evelyn Gibson and Nell Christmas, both of Bay City; sisters Maggie Drawhorn of Zavala, Tx., Emily Harvey and Melba McCory, both of Palacios, Elaine Melling of Groves, Tx., Dorothy Hamlin of Sweeny, Tx., and E. Jean LeClair of Pearland, Tx.; brothers Willie Brister of Carlton, Tx. and L.J. Brister of Palacios; grandchildren Greg Christmas and wife Loretta of Diboll, Tx., Sherri Christmas and Darrell Gibson both of Bay City, and Brenda Worsham and husband Michael of Coleman, Tx; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eva Brister; sisters, Leva Moses, Eva Norwood, and Johnnie Mae Hamlin; and brothers, Aaron Brister and Marshall Brister. DELVIN L. TASKA
Funeral services for Delvin L. Taska, 78, of Blessing, were held Jan. 26, 2005 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home in Bay City with Rev. Clyde Greer officiating. Interment , with Masonic Burial Rites, was at Hawley cemetery in Blessing. Mr. Taska was born July 19, 1926 in Nelsonville, Tx. to Frank and Frances Marie Mikeska Taska. He died Jan. 22, 2005 at his home in Blessing. The Taska family, which included sons, Delvin, Hollen, and Ellis, lived in the Ashby area from 1931-1940, until they bought a farm in El Maton. Delvin attended school in Ashby and graduated from the Blessing High School. After graduating from high school in May of 1944, Delvin joined the US Army where he served two years in the Infantry while stationed in Europe. When he returned from Germany in July of 1946, he decided to attend college at Southwest Texas State College in San Marcos. After graduating in August 1949, he left for his first job as a coach and teacher in Crescent. His former coach and superintendent, Mr. George K. Nelson, asked him to take over as principal of a new high school that was to be formed through the consolidation of five schools. That school was to become Tidehaven High School. This was the beginning of 37 years which were devoted to the field of education. Delvin was the principal of Tidehaven High School for 23 years, the Assistant Superintendent for one year, and he served in the capacity of Superintendent for 13 years until he retired in 1986. Education and the Tidehaven School District were always such an important part of life for Delvin and Bernice. In 1954, Delvin married
Bernice Engelholm of Bellville, Tx. They were blessed with 50 years of marriage this past June. Delvin and Bernice have two children, Debra Taska who is married
to David Genzer and Dale Taska and his wife Tracy. Delvin was also the very proud grandfather of Jordan and Peyton Taska-Genzer. Pallbearers were Leonard Mikeska, Leonard Mikeska, Jr., Dennis Richter, Chet Richter, Delton Mikeska, Kirby Mikeska, A.J. Kacer, and Marvin Hurta. Funeral services for Joel Lane Brown, 48, of Blessing, were held Jan. 21, 2005 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Chapel in Bay City with Collins MaGahey officiating. Interment was at Midfield cemetery. Mr. Brown was born Nov. 13, 1956 in Port Lavaca to the late Willis Harold Brown and Dorothy Powell Brown. He died Jan. 18, 2005 in Houston. He was a lifelong resident of Blessing, a Vietnam veteran for the US Army, a member of the Blessing Volunteer Fire Department and a member of Cecil Lee American Legion Post 649 of Blessing. He is survived by his wife, Guadalupe U. Brown of Blessing; mother, Dorothy Harvey of Point Comfort; paternal grandmother, Goldie Ruth Brown of New Mexico; daughter, Brandy Brown of Arkansas; sons and daughters-in-law, Clifton J. and Sarah Brown of Blessing, Steven R. and Tracey Brown of Victoria, Christopher Brown of Arkansas and Taylor Brown of Las Vegas, NV; step-sons and daughters-in-law, Ricky and Melinda Galvan of Silsbee, Robbie and Rachel Galvan of Blessing, and Rudy Galvan of Bay City; sisters Aleta Hoodless of Florida and Deborah McGahey of Round Rock; brothers Willis Harold Brown of Port O'Connor and James Brown of Port Lavaca; and grandchildren Melissa, Richard and Christi Galvan, Anna and Freddie Alameda, and Joseph, Eric and Derrick Galvan. EDWARD M. FEATHER
Funeral services for Edward M. Feather, 84 of East Bernard, Tx. were held Jan. 21, 2005 in the chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg, Tx. with Chaplain Mike Kee officiating. Interment was at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg. Edward was born on April 18, 1920 in Elkhart, Indiana to Joe Barnard and Mae Claire Sanborn Feather and passed away peacefully Jan.18, 2005 at Oak Bend Medical Center in Richmond, Texas. He had been a resident of East Bernard, Tx. for the past six years. He was five years old when his family moved from Elkhart, Indiana to Palacios, Tx. where he resided most of his life. He graduated from Palacios High School and graduated from the University of Houston and later attained his Masters degree. He served in the U.S. Navy in WWII and was honored with three bronze medals and a purple heart for his service to his country. Edward is preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Mae Claire Feather and his grandparents, Merton K. and Susan Brown Feather. He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Mary Fern Johnson Feather; daughter Rebecca Sue Eiserman and husband, David, of Richardson, Tx; sons Russell Edward Feather and wife, Minette, of Beasley, Tx., Joe Earl Feather and wife, Rhonda, of Frisco, Tx; grandchildren Jolie Marie Feather Levin and husband, Jon, of Sugar Land, Tx., Joshua Edward Feather and wife, Jennifer, of Sugar Land, Tx., Audrey Claire and Graham Kerr Feather of Frisco, Tx.; greatgranchildren Lynna Marie and Lillie Eileen Levin and Jared Russell Feather all of Sugar Land, TX; brother Robert Feather and wife, Bobbie, of Shreveport, LA; and with many nieces, nephews, family and friends. WILMA "BILLY" VACEK
Funeral services for Wilma "Billy" Vacek, 75, of Palacios, were held Jan. 17, 2005 at the Palacios Funeral Home Chapel. Interment was at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck. She was born Sept. 22, 1929 in Alma, GA to Henry Elvin Strickland and Hattie Thornton Strickland. She died Jan. 12, 2005. She was a long time resident of Palacios, a member of the First Baptist Church of Palacios, and was a retired receptionist. Billy is remembered for being a loving and generous Mother, MeMe, and Great MeMe. She always put everyone else first and gave with love. She instilled in all of her children that family comes first. She is the rock that keeps the family strong. She is cherished by many friends as well as family. ANNIE 'GRANDMA' NELSON
Annie "Grandma" Nelson, 81, of Palacios, closed her eyes here and woke up in Heaven on Jan. 12, 2005. Funeral services were held Jan. 15, 2005, at Living Word Church, Palacios with Pastor Tony Flores and Kathie Lusk officiating. Burial was at Palacios cemetery. She was born Oct. 14.1923, in Morganton, AR. to the late James Wesley and Martha Parlee Ford Sanders. She was a homemaker and a nurse's aide for the Palacios Health Care Center. When attending Solid Rock Fellowship, Grandma was an active member with the prayer chain. When she was called she immediately prayed and got her list out to call others to pray. That was her ministry and she had done it faithfully until a couple of months ago. Grandma had a great love for gospel music and spent many hours listening to the old gospel music. Although unable to sing here she is now singing in Heaven. She is survived by her sons, John W. Malone of Tybee Island, Ga., Jimmie H. Malone of Malvern, Ark., Archie E. Malone of Benton, Ark., and William S. Malone of Palacios; sisters, Martha Rylie and Mary Smith, both of Benton, Ark., Betty Lou Davis and Alma Johnson, both of Clinton, Ark.; brothers, James Sanders of Alexander, Ark., Harvey Sanders of Benton, Ark., Adam Sanders of Oklahoma, and George Sanders of Missouri; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husbands, Archie Harris Malone and H.P. Nelson; sister, Mildred Sanders; and brothers, Luther Ray Sanders and Marion "Son" Sanders. ROBERT WALLACE (Wallie) CLEMENT
Memorial services for Robert Wallace (Wallie) Clement, 69, were held on Jan. 7, 2005, at St. Alban's Episcopal Church in Arlington, Tx . He passed away on January 2, 2005, at James L. West Hospice House in Fort Worth, Texas . The service was a wonderful and befitting celebration of Wallie's life. The Reverend Dwayne Bauman and The Reverend Cannon Courtland Moore officiated, assisted by The Reverends' Gregory Sherwood and Timothy Martin. Several family members participated in the service as well. The Reverend Cannon Courtland Moore presented the homily which was a beautiful tribute to Wallie's life as a husband, father and worker in the Church. Wallie served as a member of the church's choir for many years. Wallie was born December 20, 1935, in Bay City, Tx, to the late William H. (Bill) and Mary Rose Clement. He grew up in Palacios where he was active in his church, high school choir and the Boy Scouts. He attained the rank of Life Scout. In 1955, he and his father moved to Victoria where he finished high school at the old Patti Welder High School. He served in the U.S. Army as a Military Police Officer at Fort Gordon, GA, and Fort McClelland, AL. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from Arlington State University. He had worked for the Trinity River Authority and Lockwood, Andrews and Newnan Consultants. In 1993, he retired to the family property along the San Antonio River in Refugio County to become a gentleman rancher. Due to failing health, the family moved back to Arlington in August 2004. In 1965, Wallie and Eugenie Boelhouwer were married
at Casa Linda Presbyterian Church in Dallas. He is survived by his wife, Eugenie; daughter Rosemary Ann Moore and husband Tim; son Peter Wallace Clement and wife Tracy; grandson Tavish Wallace Clement, all of Arlington; and his brother, Ralph W Clement of Lawrence, Kansas.
