EDNA H. HAMLIN
Funeral services for Edna H. Hamlin, 98, of Palacios, Tx. were held Feb. 6, 2012 at the Palacios Funeral Home with Brother Shan Jackson officiating. Interment was at Palacios cemetery.
Mrs. Hamlin was born Oct. 20, 1913 in Duke, Oklahoma to the late John F. Queen and Mary Duncan Queen. She passed away Feb. 3, 2012.
She was a longtime member of the Church of Christ and a Charter Member of Queen-Hamlin VFW Post 2467 Ladies Auxiliary which was established in 1950. At the time of her passing she was the oldest Gold Star Mother in Texas.
She is survived by her son Thomas R. Hamlin, Jr. and wife Gail of Rockport, Tx.; grandchildren Chyrel Brennan, Robert B. Patrick and Emilie G. Schneider; and great-grandchildren Robert Tyler Patrick, Shannon Lindley, Zachry Schneider, Amie Schneider and Madyson Schneider.
She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas R. Hamlin, Sr.; son William Lloyd Hamlin; daughter Alta Marie White; and grandchildren Tip Patrick and Amie Hamlin.
Pallbearers are Charles Winfield, Chris Harvey, Tino Rojas, Gus Valcik, Gene Eggemeyer and Freddie Eggemeyer.
The family asks that memorials be made to Queen-Hamlin VFW Post 2467 in Palacios.

ROBERTA KAY ANTHIS RIPKE
Funeral services for Roberta Kay Anthis Ripke of Palacios, Tx. were held Jan. 28, 2012 at the First Presbyterian Church of Palacios. Interment was at Palacios Cemetary.
Roberta was born on August 3, 1945 in Temple, Tx. to the late Joseph Horton Anthis Jr. and Mable "Bobbie" Hansen Anthis. She passed on Jan. 25, 2012 at the age of 66 at her home in Palacios after a lengthy and courageous battle with lung cancer.
She was the Executive Director of Palacios Area Fund of the Communities Foundation of Texas for the last 25 years and recently retired on Dec. 31, 2011.
Roberta is survived by her son Richard "Ricky" Ripke and wife Sharlynn of Seguin, TX; daughters Kimberly W. Ripke Garcia and husband Lawrence of Palacios; and Felicia D. Ripke Jackson and husband Michael of New Braunfels, TX; grandchildren Leah and Trevor Ripke; and Kristen, Alyssa, Sydney, and Lawrence Aidan Garcia; and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers Roger Smith, Jodie Anthis and Leon Anthis; and her brother and sister-in-law Phillip Ripke and Mary Louise Fernandez of Palacios; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Clarence "Brother" Ripke, Jr. and infant son Shannon D. Ripke.

CONCEPCION DIAZ FLOREZ ALAMIA
Funeral services for Concepcion Diaz Florez Alamia, 83, of Palacios, Tx., were held on Jan. 22, 2012 at the Living Word Church in Palacios with Tony Flores officiating.
Mrs. Alamia was born Sept. 1, 1928 to the late Victor and Auerlia Flores in Luling, Tx. She passed away on Jan. 20, 2012.
She is survied by her husband, Julio Asocar Alamia, Jr.; daughters, Alma Bello and Consuelo Rosales; sons, Richard Alamia and David Alamia; 15 grandchildren, and 35 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Manuel Flores; sisters, Monica Bitela and Julia Dolata; and brothers, Gregorio Flores, Juan Flores, Manuel Flores, Victor Flores and Aniseto Flores.
Pallbearers were Richard Alamia, Jr., Mario Alamia, Daniel Alamia, Santiago Rodriguez, David Alamia, Jr., and Octavoio Guerrero.
BERNICE A. GLOWKA
A rosary for Bernice A. Glowka, 91, of Rockport, Tx., will be recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2012 at at Rosewood Funeral Chapels in Victoria, Tx.. The Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan, . 25, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Yoakum, Tx. with Rev. Matthew Huehlefeld officiating.
Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Catholic cemetery in Yoakum.
Mrs. Glowka was born March 1, 1920 in Yoakum to the late Edward Brown and Lucy Stokesberry Brown. She passed away on Jan. 20, 2012 in Corpus Christi, Tx.
Survivors include her daughter, Gail (Tom) Hamlin of Rockport; son, John (Patricia) Glowka of Woodsboro, Tx.; sister, Earline (Dan) Boltz of Victoria; eight grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Glowka is preceded in death by her husband, Walter C. Glowka; four sisters; four brothers; a granddaughter; a great-grandson; and a great-great-granddaughter.
Pallbearers will be Troy Glowka, Gregory Glowka, Harold Cates, Jr., Carl Schneider, John Koenning, and . Brantley Roskey. Honorary pallbearers are Dan Boltz, Kenneth Glowka, Roger Hairell and Robert Walters.

ORETHA M. TANKERSLEY STANDLEY
Funeral services for Oretha M. Tankersley Standley, 85, of Palacios, Tx., were held Dec. 30, 2011 at the Palacios Funeral Home with Rev. Louis Rush, officiating. Interment followed at Palacios Cemetary.
Mrs. Standley was born in Arkansas on May 8, 1926. She passed away in Palacios on Dec. 28, 2011.
Oretha was happiest when she was busy. During WWII Oretha worked as a welder on the Liberty ships in Washington State. After marrying Searcy H. Standley on December 27, 1945, they made Palacios their home. They operated Standley’s Bait Camp for many years.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law Pat and Tom Ellis and Alta and Kent Barnett; two granddaughters Tommie Lynn & husband Jeff Miller and Alta May and Husband Ray Herrera; two grandsons Searcy Barnett and Wylen Barnett and wife Glynis; three great grandchildren Sarah, Samson and Sidney and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Tommy Ellis, Kent Barnett, Ramon Herrera, Jeff Miller, Searcy Barnett and Wylen Barnett. James Morton will served as honorary pallbearer.

DORIS MAY MALLETT COLLINS
Funeral services for Doris May Mallett Collins, 87, of Bay City, Tx., were held Dec. 23, 2011 at the First Baptist Church of Palacios with her son, Rev. James Collins, officiating. Interment followed at Hawley cemetery in Blessing.
Mrs. Collins was born in Iola, Tx. on Nov. 10, 1924. She passed away in Bay City on Dec. 21, 2011.
Doris was a member of First Baptist Church of Palacios, and a member of the Eastern Star for 70 years. She had been a resident of Kerrville for 70 years, before moving to Bay City in 2005. Doris was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. The family and friends she leaves behind will truly miss her.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Leroy Collins of Bay City; son James Collins & wife LoriAnn of Bay City; grandchildren Greg Collins & wife Toi of Friendswood, Kimberly Collins of Bay City, and Mark Collins of Bay City; and great-grandchildren: Jackson, Micah, and Tessa Collins all of Friendswood.
She was preceded in death by her father Mark Mallett, mother Bebe Cleveland Mallett, and brother Edward Mallett.
Pallbearers were Leo Neuszer, Phil Neuszer, Mark Collins, Greg Collins, Micah Collins, and Jackson Collins.

FRIEDA ARTNER NELSEN
Funeral services for Frieda Artner Nelsen, 77, of Palacios, Tx., were held Dec. 22, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church of Palacios with Rev. June White officiating. Interment was at Hawley cemetery in Blessing.
Mrs. Nelson was born June 12, 1934 to Josef Artner and Maria Winterbacher Artner in Lower Austria Parish Melk, Deanship Ybbs. She passed away on De. 20, 2011 in Palacios.
Frieda immigrated to Canada in June of 1955 and in October of that year married
her husband of 56 years. Together, they had four children: Linda Miculka & husband David of El Campo, Tx., Patsy Simpson & husband Clay of Johnson City, Tx., Donna Henkes Tuttle & husband Steve of Lake Jackson, Tx., and Aaron Nelsen & wife M’Liss of Pflugerville, Tx.
Frieda is survived by eight grandchildren: Kyle Simpson, Brian Miculka, Jenna Henkes Warner, Kayla Simpson, Courtney Henkes, Meredith Nelsen, Amanda Nelsen, and Morgan Nelsen and also by tgreat-grandchildren Connor Henkes and Lilly Simpson.
She is survived by her husband: Alton N. Nelsen of Palacios; sister: Theresa Artner of Vienna, Austria; her four children and their spouses, and by numerous nieces and nephews both in the United States and in Europe.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, two sisters, and son-in-law Vernon L. Henkes.
Frieda loved children and was especially proud of her own. During her married
life, she made five return trips to Austria to visit relatives and friends. She had a kind and loving heart and will be sorely missed.
Pallbearers were Ira Rose, Pablo Dominguez, Edward Gurecky, Brian Miculka, Matthew Hansen, and Craig Glasscock.
