Funeral services for Fawn Adams Blackwell, 85, of Bay City, were held Jan. 15, 2002 at the Apostolic Pentecostal Church in Bay City with the Revs. Sam Starches and Greg Starks officiating. Interment followed at Cedarvale cemetery in Bay City. Mrs. Adams passed from this life on Saturday, Jan. 12. She was born June 27, 1916 in Ganado to the late John Henry Adams and Rachael Ruth Weynedt Adams. A lifelong resident of Matagorda County, she lived for many years at Collegeport, and had resided in Bay City since 1980. She was a member of the Apostolic Pentecostal Church of Bay City. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jean and Rev. Samuel R. Starks of Bay City; by her son and daughter-in-law, Dean and Faye Blackwell of Chandler, Tex.; by her daughter-in-law, Willene Blackwell of Bay City. She is also survived by her brothers: Lloyd Adams and wife, Irene, of Angleton; and Noel Adams and wife, Hollice, of Alvin; by her sisters-in-law: Allie Adams and Annie Adams of Alvin, Irwon Jenson of Palacios, Geneva Jenson of Sugar Land and Betty Blackwell of Bay City; by her grandchildren: Robin Benton and husband, James, of Flower Mound, Tex.; Kristi Allison and husband, Gene, of Naples, Fla.; Shannon Blackwell of Chandler, Tex.; Greg Starks and wife, Michele, of Austin; Regena Dumas and husband, John, of Arlington; and by her great-grandchildren: Jonathan Starks, Matthew Starks, Andrew Dumas, Bailey Benton and Brice Benton; by her special friends Ann Reynolds and Nikki Barker; and by numerous nieces and nephews and a great host of friends. She was preceded in death her husband, Wade Blackwell; her son, Neil Blackwell; her brothers, Van and Burt Adams; and by her great-granddaughter, Jennifer Starks. Pallbearers were Shannon Blackwell, Greg Starks, John Dumas, Kenneth McKissick, George Agnew and James Starks. Honorary pallbearers were Don Steele and Wyatt Ashcraft.

Funeral services for Louise Stotts Erekson, 78, of Palacios, were held Jan. 7, 2002 at the Palacios Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Hollas Hoffman officiating. Interment was at Palacios cemetery. Mrs. Erekson was born Sept. 3, 1923 in Llano County, Tx. to the late James and Lula Turberville Stotts. She died Jan. 4, 2002 at her daughter's residence in Concan, Tx. Mrs. Erekson was a resident of Palacios for the past 53 years and was a retired cafeteria manager for Palacios ISD with 34 years of service. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Thomas 'Rocky' Rocchio of Concan, Tx.; son and daughter-in-law Bruce Edward and Sharon Erekson of LaMarque, Tx.; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Leroy Erekson; a sister, Lois Bode; a brother, James Monroe Stotts, and a grandchild, Randy Erekson. Pallbearers were Kenneth Smith, Juluis Aguilar, Terry Oglesby, Dick Kubecka, Don Matthews and Victor J. Kahlich. Memorials may be made to the Palacios High School Library or Palacios Library.
JOHN OTTINO MARTINO
A funeral Mass for John Ottino Martino, 80, of Palacios, was held Jan. 4, 2002 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church with Rev. Charles Dwomoh officiating. Interment was at at Palacios cemetery. Mr. Martino was born March 11, 1921 in Palacios to the late Louis and Donnie Ottino Martino. He died Dec. 30, 2001 at Southwest Memorial Hospital in Houston. Mr. Martino was a lifelong resident of Palacios, a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, and a U. S. Army veteran of World War II. He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Dolores and Harry Castro of Richmond, Tx., and Rosalie and John Lenihan of Floresville, Tx.; sisters Rosalie Tobias of Palacios and Julie Garcia of Victoria; four grandchildren, Evett Hamlin and husband Philip of Wharton, Marcus Castro of Richmond, Samantha Castro of Richmond, and Adam Rodriguez and wife Cindi of Rosenberg; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Diaz Martino; son, John Martino, Jr.; sister Pauline Pequeno; and brothers Louis Martino, Jr., Tom Martino, and Charles Martino. Pallbearers are Harry Castro, Philip Hamlin, Louis Martino III, James Kruse, Courtney Grigsby and Eddie Howard.

Funeral services for Josefina Diaz Rodriguez, 89, of Olivia, were held Jan. 2, 2002 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Palacios with Rev. Charles Dwomoh officiating. Interment was at Palacios cemetery. Mrs. Rodriguez was born July 12, 1912 in Yancey, Tx. to the late Reyes Escobar and Santana Torres Diaz. She died Dec. 30, 2001 at Memorial Medical Center in Port Lavaca. She was a member of the Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church in Port Lavaca, a resident of Olivia for the past five years, and a former longtime resident of Palacios. She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Dominga and Gilbert Yanes of Olivia, and Esperanza Garcia of Austin; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Ysidro D. Rodriguez of San Antonio and Jose A. and Carmen Rodriguez of Houston; a sister, Benita Cano of Dickinson; a brother, Porfirio Diaz of Houston; 16 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Felipe S. Rodriguez; a brother, Manuel Diaz; and two sisters, Isabel Lopez and Maria Martino. Pallbearers were James Robert Rodriguez, Joseph A. MARY JANE REYNA
Funeral services for Mary Jane Reyna, 46, of Palacios, were held Dec. 27, 2001 at Living Word Church in Palacios with Rev. Tony Flores officiating. Interment was at Palacios cemetery. Mrs. Reyna was born March 1, 1955 in Palacios to Enemencia 'Mencha' Rodriguez Luna and the late Elias Luna, Sr. She died Dec. 22, 2001. She was a substitute teacher at Palacios ISD and a U. S. Air Force veteran. She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Ramiro Reyna; daughter Jamie Reyna Solis of Oceanside, Calif.; son, Isaiah Ramiro Reyna of Palacios; grandchildren Ellie 'The Kid' Reyna and Michael Elias Flores, both of Oceanshide, Calif.; sister Linda Luna Story of Bay City; brothers Elias Luna Jr. of Lake Jackson, George Luna of Waco and Sam Luna of Austin; and her mother. Pallbearers were Ryan Luna, Jason O'Connor, Seth Luna, Michael Solis, Toby Reyna III and Greg Reyna. Honorary pallbearers were Rose mary Alvarado, Rose Lee Garcia dn Delia Reyna Hudson. Graveside services for Eula Mae Anthony Green SimMons, 84, of Palacios, were held Dec. 21, 2001 at White Rock Baptist Church cemetery in Center, Tx. Mrs. SiMmons was born Oct. 28, 1917 in Shelby County, Tx. to the late Henderson James Anthony and Sarah Hattie Parish. She died Dec. 17, 2001 in Palacios. She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Doyce Green of Lancaster, Tx., and Carolyn and Charles Hutto of Palacios; a son, Larry Green of Houston; grandchildren Charla Day, Lanita Hutto and Wesley Hutto; and great-grandchildren Lancy Day and Robert Day.
DOROTHY MYRLEEN WOOD
Graveside services for Dorothy Myrleen Wood, 73, of Tres Palacios Oaks, were held Dec. 8, 2001 at Hawley cemetery in Blessing with speaker Wayne Fenske. Mrs. Wood was born Feb. 14, 1928 in El Campo to the late Boulden Oliver and Elsie Frances Henderson. She died Dec. 6, 2001 at her residence. She had been a resident of Tres Palacios Oaks since 1974. She is survived by her husband, Thomas Gene Wood of Tres Palacios Oaks; daughter and son-in-law Barbara and Wayne Fenske of Houston; sister Wynell Monte of Lafayette, La.; brother Gerald Henderson of Blessing; granchildren Michelle Meneely of Palacios, Jeffrey Fenske of Spring and Jennifer Whitney of Houston. She was preceded in death by her brother, Weldon Henderson.
KATHERINE JEAN RESSLER
Funeral services for Katherine Jean Ressler, 76, of Palacios, were held Dec. 8, 2001 at the Palacios Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Hollas Hoffman officiating. Interment was at Palacios cemetery. Mrs. Ressler was born July 1, 1925 in Port Arthur, Tx. to the late David Oscar and Sallie Louise Linn Dodd. She died Dec. 4, 2001 at Hospice Austin's Christopher House. Mrs. Ressler moved with her family to Palacios in 1938. She was a 1942 graduate of Palacios High School. In 1959 she moved to Mississippi and was a former resident of Van Horn and Aransas Pass before moving back to Palacios 2-1/2 years ago. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Palacios. She is survived by her husband, Joseph A. Ressler of Palacios; daughter and son-in-law Robin and Roger Grace of Dripping Springs, Tx.; sisters Louise Johnson of Aransas Pass, and Lillie B. Garrett of Angleton, Tx.; a brother, David Dodd of Fort Worth; three grandchildrenÑKerry James Ressler-Craig, Jr. and wife Betsy of Atlanta, Ga., Pat and Adam Haas of Dripping Springs, Tx.; and two great-grandchildrenÑJoshua and Jacob Ressler-Craig of Atlanta, Ga. She was preceded in death by two sons, Kerry James Ressler and Dennis Ressler, and her daughter, Janice Ressler.
SUSAN HAWS BELL
A memorial service for Susan Haws Bell, 55, of Arlington, Tx., will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, 2001 at the First Baptist Church of Palacios. She died Nov. 29, 2001 from complications of leukemia. Her loving family and close friends surrounded her. A native of Wichita Falls, Susan was a former corporate meeting planner who worked in Houston and Dallas and was most recently employed by Central Market in Fort Worth. She was an avid birdwatcher and animal lover. Susan was a free spirit who truly loved life and was loved by all who knew her. She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Nancy Haws Bowers and Butch Bowers of Palacios; niece and nephew-in-law, Allison Bowers and Aaron Hamilton of Austin; niece, Christa Bowers of Austin; aunt, Fern Haws of Jacksonville, Tx.; and her loyal companion, Hillie, a 7-yr. old Airedale Terrier. Memorials be be sent to the First Baptist Church of Palacios.

Funeral services for Elizabeth Weakley, 89, of Palacios, were scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2001 at the Palacios Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Hollas Hoffman officiating. Interment will be at Hawley cemetery. Mrs. Weakley was born July 31, 1912 in Katy, Tx. to the late William Sills and Rebecca Thomas Sills. She died Dec. 1, 2001. She was a resident of Palacios for the past 50 years and was a member of the First Baptist church of Palacios and a 25-year member of the Pink Ladies Auxiliary. She is survived by her daughter, Emily Edmunds of San Antonio; sons Walter Ewell Weakley of Fort worth, William Harvey Weakley of Edna, and Thomas Earl Weakley of San Antonio; sisters Ruth Goynes of Trinity and Emogene Southward of Houston; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ewell F. Weakley. Pallbearers are Terry Weakley, Jerry Weakley, Brian Weakley, Clinton Weakley, Don Holderrieth and Chris Vandenbergh.
