Wasel Marie Fox
Wasel Marie Fox, 73, of Bowie, TX passed away on March 30, 2002 in Bellmire Healthcare Facility in Bowie, TX.
Mrs. Fox was born on December 7, 1928 in Sunset, TX. She worked at the Wichita Falls State Hospital in the Laundry department, retiring after 24 years; then worked at Bowie Memorial Hospital from 1981 until 1993 until her retirement there. Mrs. Fox was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Bowie, TX.
Funeral services for Mrs. Fox were held on Tuesday, April 2, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Ron Abbott officiating. Interment followed in Buffalo Springs Cemetery in Buffalo Springs, TX under the direction of Fry Funeral Home.
Surviving relatives include: one son, Tony Fox, Wichita Falls, TX; three grandchildren, Christy Fox, Brandy Pacheco and Abby Fox, all of Wichita Falls, TX; one sister, Mrs. Rosemary Willett, Sunset, TX; one brother, Glynn Cavasos, Kennedale, TX; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Fox was preceded in death by her parents, Truett and Clara Cavasos and one brother, Lynn Cavasos.
Pallbearers included: Jason Mattix, Mark Mattix, Donald Preuninger, Clay Cavasos, Robert Parr, and Lanny Hunt.
Sune Ralph Downing
Sune Ralph Downing, 67, of Clute, TX passed away on April 1, 2002 in Brazosport Memorial Hospital in Lake Jackson, TX.
Mr. Downing was born on September 15, 1934 to Ralph and Frances Smith Downing in Olathe, KS. He lived in Bowie during much of his youth and young adulthood and had attended Bowie Public Schools. In the Clute/Lake Jackson area, he had been a partner in a construction business, operated a shrimp boat and later a trucking business. He married Stella Maurice "Cookie" Carver, also from the Bowie area.
Funeral services for Mr. Downing were held on Thursday, April 4, 2002 at 12:00 noon at Stroud Funeral Home in Clute, TX. Interment followed in Restwood Cemetery in Clute, TX.
Surviving relatives include: one son, Jim Downing, Waco, TX; one daughter, Tracy Lamoureaux, Richwood, TX; three brothers, Dan Downing, Cincinnati, OH, Larry Downing, Henderson, TX and John Wayne Downing, Boulder, CO; three grandchildren; one great-grandson; one aunt, Mrs. H. R. "Snooky" Jameson, Montague, TX and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife, Stella Maurice "Cookie" Downing in June 2000.
Caroline Lindberg
Caroline Lindberg, 90, of Bowie, TX passed away on April 3, 2002 in Bowie.
Mrs. Lindberg was born on June 16, 1911 in League City, TX. She was a homemaker and a member of the Catholic faith. She married Charles Hans Lindberg in Galveston on August 22, 1930 who preceded her in death in 1988.
Graveside services for Mrs. Lindberg were held on Friday, April 5, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at Elmwood Cemetery in Bowie, TX with Rev. Stephen Berg officiating. Services were directed by Fry Funeral Home of Bowie.
Surviving relatives include: two daughters, Miss Patricia Lindberg, Medina, TX and Mrs. Jacqueline Marie Wheeler, Bowie, TX; one granddaughter, Mrs. Kerry Ann Wheeler, Bowie, TX and one great-granddaughter, Johnna Marie Wheeler, Bowie, TX.
Virgil Jean Horner
Virgil Jean Horner, 67, of Ringgold, TX passed away on April 4, 2002 at UNHCS in Wichita Falls, TX.
Mr. Horner was born on October 12, 1933 in Wagoner, OK to Elbert Lafayette and Lillie Bertha Phillips Horner. He married Loreta Sue Thompson on July 22, 1953 in Saint Jo, TX. He was a carpenter and a member of the Baptist faith. He served in the Army during the Korean conflict and was a member of the VFW in Bowie.
Graveside services for Mr. Horner were held on Sunday, April 7, 2002 at 2:30 p.m. at Union Cemetery with Rev. Don Hendrix officiating. Services were directed by Scott Morris Funeral Home of Nocona, TX.
Surviving relatives include: his wife, Loreta Sue Horner, Ringgold, TX; four children, Lana Horner, Karen York, Tim Horner and Latricia Burnett, all of Wichita Falls, TX; one brother, A. D. Horner, Henrietta, TX; thirteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Brenda Russell and Mary Jane Webb.
Catherine Coffield Koebernick
Catherine Koebernick, 49, a book seller, passed away March 31, 2002 at her residence.
Mrs. Koebernick was born on June 15, 1952 to Martha Irene (nee) Raborn and Charles Whitmel Coffield, Jr. in Bowie, TX. Mrs. Koebernick graduated from Bowie High School in 1970 and from Texas Christian University with a BA in English in 1974. She had a long career in information systems prior to creating her own business as an independent bookseller specializing in rare and out of print books in 1993. She married Larry Francis Koebernick on May 15, 1983 in Bowie, TX.
A memorial service was held on Friday, April 5, 2002 at 3:00 p.m. at the Japanese Gardens in the Fort Worth Botanical Gardens.
Survivors: Her husband, Larry Koebernick of Bedford; mother, Martha Coffield of Bowie; sisters, Caroline Vetterling of Houston and Charlene Coffield of Southlake; nephew, Tom Vetterling of Houston; aunt, Mildred Scott of Saint Jo; as well as a loving extend family. She was preceded in death by her father.
Annie Irene Gray "Rene"
Annie Irene Gray "Rene", 93, of Wichita Falls, TX passed away on April 6, 2002 at her residence.
Mrs. Gray was born on June 30, 1908 in Grayson County, Texas to Robert and Della Sanders Ligon. She married Curtis M. Gray on May 23, 1926. She worked for Consolidated Air Craft, making B52 bombers, worked for Nocona Leather Goods, and from 1948-1964 worked for her father in his grocery store, Gray’s Grocery in Wichita Falls. She was a member of the Church of Christ faith.
Funeral services for Mrs. Gray were held on Tuesday, April 9th, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. in the Scott-Morris Funeral Home Chapel with Billy Curtis officiating. Interment followed in Nocona Cemetery.
Surviving relatives include: several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers included: David Fisher, Matthew Fisher, Jim Uselton, Robert Bow and Boyd Curtis.
Juan Martin Rodriguez
Juan Martin Rodriguez, 16, of Marietta, GA, passed away on April 2, 2002 in Marietta.
Mr. Rodriguez was born on April 10,1985 in Celaya, Gto, Mexico to Martin and Celia Rodriguez. He was a construction worker and a member of the Catholic faith.
Funeral services for Mr. Rodriguez were held on Tuesday, April 9, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at Nueva Vida Spanish Mission Baptista with Tomas Fuente officiating. Interment followed at Nocona Cemetery under the direction of Scott Morris Funeral Home of Nocona.
Surviving relatives include: his parents, Martin and Celia Rodriguez; and one sister, Celina Rodriguez.
