Henry James Corado
Henry James Corado, age 89 of Montague, TX, passed away on April 29, 2002 in Bowie.
Mr. Corado was born on January 13, 1913 in Montague, Texas to Peter Corado and Matilda Fenoglio. He married Mary Giaketti on June 9, 1934 in Henrietta, TX. He was a member of the St. Williams Catholic Church in Montague, TX and was a member of Masonic Lodge and Woodmen of the World. Mr. Corado was a farmer and rancher.
Rosary/prayer service will be Thursday at 7 p.m. at Jerry Woods Funeral Home.
Mass for Mr. Corado will be held on Friday, May 3, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Williams Catholic Church in Montague with Father Steve Berg officiating. Burial will be in the Montague Catholic Cemetery.
Surviving relatives include: son, Royce Corado of Montague, TX; Carolyn and husband, Bob Hankins of Bowie, TX; grandchildren, Kevin Corado of Boston, MA, Krista and husband, Chad Duvall, Rob Hankins and Lane Hankins, all of Bowie, TX.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mary Corado on July 26, 1999 and his sisters Lena Vicari, Mary Peckio, Minnie Peccio and Kate Carminati.
Pallbearers include: Michael Vicari, Kurt Vicari, Lynn Nobile, Brad Nobile, Randy Nobile, and Chris Tompkins.
Honorary Pallbearers include: Albert Fenoglio, Russell Fenoglio, Earl Richardson, Jody Fenoglio, John Perona, Robert Silva and Mike Silva.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Better Education Foundation, P.O. Box 1388, Bowie, TX 76230.
Jackie Wayne Bell
Jackie Wayne Bell, 71, of Odessa, TX passed away on April 14, 2002.
Mr. Bell was born on June 29, 1930. He attended Bowie High School where he was an all around athlete and was awarded a football scholarship to Rice University. He married Bettye Davis in 1949. Mr. Bell retired from Amoco Oil Co.
Funeral services for Mr. Bell were held on Wednesday, April 17, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at Temple Baptist Church with Rev. Johnny Thomason officiating. Interment was held in Sunset Memorial Gardens under the direction of Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Surviving relatives include: his wife, Nita; one son, Danny Bell, Houston, TX; two daughters, Diane Wofenburger, Houston, TX, and Nicole Duncan, Salt Lake City, UT; and two step-daughters. He was preceded in death by his parents, Shad and Clara Bell; one brother, Occie; and two sisters, Ruby and Velma.
Margery Carter
Margery Carter, 81, of Bowie, TX passed away on April 28, 2002.
Mrs. Carter was born on May 8, 1920 in Pauls Valley to Gladys England and Robert F. Hughes. She was a nurse’s aide and worked at Bowie Memorial Hospital for many years. Mrs. Carter was of the Baptist faith. She married Gay Carter.
Funeral services for Mrs. Carter were held on Wednesday, May 1, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at Fry Funeral Chapel with Rev. Paul Henderson officiating. Interment was held in Ringgold Cemetery.
Surviving relatives include: one daughter, Gaylene Davis, Bowie, TX; two sons, Baron Carter, Buchanon, WV and Robert Carter, Porter, TX; eleven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Gladys Roberts, Apache, OK; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gay Carter; one daughter, Mrs. Joyce Miller; two sons, Jimmy and Billy Carter; one grandson, Roger Carter; her step-mother, Helen Scott Hughes; her mother, Gladys England Hughes and her father, Robert F. Hughes.
Pallbearers included: Odell Neff, Glen Neff, Larry Sledge, Andrew Adams, Dewayne Schelsteder, and Danny Boyd. Honorary pallbearers included: William Bruce and Oliver Neff.
Roscoe Silas Jones
Roscoe Silas Jones, 78, of Bowie, TX passed away on April 24, 2002 in Bowie.
Mr. Jones was born on December 13, 1923 in Clarenden, TX. He married Margaret Meuller on February 17, 1946 in Salona, TX. He was a retired roughneck in the oil industry. Mr. Jones was a member of Reddy-McClellan VFW Post 8789 in Bowie, the American Legion Speake-Meyer Post 252 of Bowie, TX and a member of the Church of Christ. He was a World War II Veteran having served in the United States Army.
Graveside services for Mr. Jones were held on Saturday, April 27, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. in Salona Cemetery in Salona, TX with David Hall officiating. Services were directed by Fry Funeral Home of Bowie.
Surviving relatives include: his wife, Margaret Jones, Bowie, TX; and four sisters, Eula Fay Scheller, Hobbs, NM, Birdie Irene Meyer, Gainesville, TX, Melba Brinkley, Bowie, TX, and Cleo Tipton, Montague, TX. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Lois Ann Jones in 1954 and one sister, Minnie Lee Scheller.
Juanita Caroline Ritchey
Juanita Caroline Ritchey, 71, of Bowie, TX passed away on April 26, 2002 at Bowie Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Ritchey was born on May 7, 1930 in Vernon, TX to Herman and Hermina Greshel Unger. She married Thomas Neal Ritchey on October 1, 1949 in Bowie, TX. She was a homemaker and a member of the St. Peters Lutheran Church.
Funeral services for Mrs. Ritchey were held on Sunday, April 28, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at Jerry Woods Funeral Home. Interment was held in Brushy Cemetery.
Surviving relatives include: her husband, Thomas Neal Ritchey, Bowie, TX; three daughters, Carolyn Maxwell, Barbara Dennison and Pat Heugatter, all of Bowie, TX; three grandsons, Austin and Yancey Heugatter and Jeff Dennison; one great-grandson, Tristan Dennison; three sisters, Viola Hightower, CA, Annebel Wolsey and Rosemarie Husfeld, both of Bowie, TX; three brothers, Herbert Unger, Gun Barrel City, TX, George Unger, Burkburnett, TX and Donal Ray Unger, Sherman, TX.
Pallbearers included: Alan Leeke, Austin Heugatter, Randel Heugatter, Brent Husfeld, Curtis Wolsey and Carroll Brooks.
Elva Marie Barbee
Elva Marie Barbee, 98, of Nocona, TX passed away on April 30, 2002 at Nocona Nursing Home.
Mrs. Barbee was born on July 30, 1903 in Berryville, AR to Warner and Edna Landers Palmer. She married William Vollie Barbee on September 21, 1921 in Spanish Fort, TX. Mr. and Mrs. Barbee operated the Spanish Fort Telephone office until 1934 and she was a clerk at Allisons Store in Nocona. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
Funeral services for Mrs. Barbee were held on Thursday, May 2, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church with Reverend Scott Moore officiating. Interment was held in Nocona Cemetery under the direction of Jerry Woods Funeral Home.
Surviving relatives include: two daughters, Juvene Lester, Midwest City, OK and Mary Frances Reed, Mansfield, TX; two sisters, Ruby Niles, Crescent, OK and Faye Franklin, Snellville, GA; two brothers, Jack Palmer, Inola, OK and Bob Palmer, Geneva, AL; nine grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; and one niece, Jewell Phillips, Nocona, TX and a host of other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Vollie Barbee on May 6, 1968 and one daughter, Aletha Faye Roberts.
Pallbearers included: her grandsons, Derel Lester, David Lester, Mark Walker, Jim Kuchelmeister, Rickey Nelson, Randy Wier and Ira Roberts.
