Gail Diane Gish
Gail Diane Gish, age 57 of Nocona, TX, passed away on July 12, 2002 in Nocona General Hospital.
Mrs. Gish was born on July 15, 1944 in Elyria, Ohio to Luciano Barbato and Norma Louise Hardaker Barbato. She married Peyton Gish in 1985 in Dallas, TX. Mr. Gish passed away in 1992. She owned Red River Station Restaurant.
A memorial service/reception was Wednesday, July 17, 2002 at 11:30 a.m. at the Red River Station, a restaurant Gail loved and hosted by the "Staff and Nocona Family" that greatly loved her as much as she loved them.
Survivors include: her mother, Norma Potratz of Dallas, TX; and one sister, Judy Karen McCullough of Dallas, TX.
Detolia Faye Williams
Detolia Faye Williams, age 88 of Nocona, TX, passed away on July 14, 2002 at Nocona General Hospital.
Mrs. Williams was born on September 13, 1913 in Spanish Fort, TX to Squire and Fay Wilborn Cain. She married Charlie Lloyd Williams on July 24, 1930 in Waurika, OK. Mrs. Williams was a member of the Spanish Fort Baptist Church.
Services for Mrs. Williams were held on Wednesday, July 17, 2002 at 11 a.m. at the Jerry Woods Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lamoin Champ officating. Interment was in the Spanish Fort Cemetery under the direction of Jerry Woods Funeral Home.
Survivors include: one daughter, Marie Baker of Nocona, TX; one grandson, John Michael York of Wichita Falls, TX; three granddaughters, Karen Gail York and Sharen York Hatfield, both of Ft. Worth, TX, and Beth Baker Hudson of San Antonio, TX; four great grandsons, Leo Andrew Hudson, David Keith Clark, Eric William Hudson, and Alec John Hudson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Williams on March 11, 1988, daughter, Bonnie LaNora York on December 16, 1998 and one sister, Nora and her brother, John.
Pallbearers were: John Michael York, Andy Hudson, David Keith Clark, Eric William Hudson, A.J. Hudson, Howard York, Dan Hatfield, and Leo Hudson.
D.D. (Deward) Echols
D.D. (Deward) Echols, 92, of Bowie, TX passed away on July 15, 2002 in Bowie.
Mr. Echols was born on December 3, 1909 in Throckmorton, TX. He married Effie Mae Taylor on February 9, 1930 in Comanche, TX. He retired from the oil industry as on oil field pumper for 35 years. He was a former member of the Forestburg Independent School Board and was of the Church of Christ faith.
Funeral services for Mr. Echols were held on Tuesday, July 16, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at Fry Funeral Chapel with Loyd Morris officiating. Interment was held in Mallord Cemetery in Mallard, TX.
Surviving relatives include: five daughters, Mrs. Laveta Mills, Burkburnett, TX, Mrs. Hazel Ruth Greenwood, Forestburg, TX, Mrs. Joyce Leeper, Fort Worth, TX, Mrs. Carole Beckner, Potlatch, ID, Mrs. Sandra Sue McClary, Lancaster, TX; two sons, Harvey T. Echols, Pullman, WA and Elvin Roy Echols, Watauga, TX; one sister, Mrs. Oleander "Grace" Johnston, Everton, AR; eighteen grandchildren; thirty-six great-grandchildren; twelve great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Echols was preceded in death by twin sons, Tommy Harold and Howard Mack Echols; one son, Jimmy Doyle Echols; four brothers; four sisters; and his wife, Effie Mae Echols on April 2, 1991.
Pallbearers included: Mr. Echols grandsons served as pallbearers.
Edith Gwendolyn Seay
Edith Gwendolyn Seay, 82, of Bowie, TX passed away on July 14, 2002.
Mrs. Seay was born January 27, 1920 in Haslet, TX and was a resident of Clarendon for six years before moving to Estelline 46 years ago. She married Thomas Howard Seay on July 27, 1941 in Harrold, TX. He preceded her in death on August 16, 2000. She had been a teacher in the Estelline Schools for much of her life before her retirement. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Estelline.
Funeral services for Mrs. Seay were held on Tuesday, July 16, 2002 at First Baptist Church in Estelline with Rev. B.G. Hill officiating. Interment was held in Estelline Cemetery under the direction of Robertson Funeral Directors.
Surviving relatives include: two daughters, Laynette Seay, Bowie, TX and Elaine Arnwine, Pittsburg, TX; one sister, Faye Hawkins, Galveston, TX; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Mary Dorothy (Dunn) Ellis
Mary Dorothy (Dunn) Ellis, 82, of Weatherford, TX passed away on July 30, 2002 at Campbell Hospital in Weatherford.
Mrs. Ellis was born on November 29, 1919 in Peabody in Montague County, TX to Harve Smith and Adelia Sheen Dunn. She attended school in the area and was raised in Saint Jo. She married John Henry Ellis on July 2, 1939 in Montague County. Mrs. Ellis loved and was successful in the Avon industry. She collected dolls and in general was "just a good wife and mother". She was a member of the Church of Christ.
Funeral services for Mrs. Ellis were held on Friday, August 2, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Christ in Saint Jo, TX with C. E. Cole officiating. Interment was held in Mt. Park Cemetery in Saint Jo, TX under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home of Saint Jo.
Surviving relatives include: one daughter, Patricia Ellis Wilson, Weatherford, TX; one son, John Randell Ellis, Missouri City, TX; three grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one brother, Buck Dunn, Wichita Falls, TX and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Henry Ellis; her parents, Harve and Adelia Dunn; and one sister, Carmen Horner.
Pallbearers included: Weldon "Bo" Dunn, Milton Dunn, Roger Dunn, Doug Gaston, Charlie Dunn and Pete Dunn.
Leonard "Bo" Dellno Whitney
Leonard "Bo" Dellno Whitney, age 56, of Nocona, TX passed away on July 30, 2002 at Nocona General Hospital.
Mr. Whitney was born on January 12, 1946 in Burkburnett, TX to Forest Dellno and Cora Devoria Elliott Whitney. He married Audrey Annette Kohles Whitney on June 22, 1979. He was employed by Bridwell Oil Company as a pumper for 24 years.
Funeral services for Mr. Whitney were held on Friday, August 2, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. at Scott-Morris Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Graham officiating. Interment was held in Nocona Cemetery.
Surviving relatives include: his wife, Audrey Whitney, Nocona, TX; two children, Jean Kohles, Helene, MT; Amy Renae Whitney, Nocona, TX; three sisters, Edna Williams, Granbury, TX, Edith Alford, Big Sandy, TX and Teressa Kurszewski, Comanche, OK; one brother, Bobby Joe Tedford, Wichita Falls, TX; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers included: Bob Kurszewski, Joe Kurszewski, Lance Kurszewski, Mike Patterson, Leonard Whitney, and Eddie Gerhard
J. Albert "Curly" Morris
J. Albert "Curly" Morris, 90, of Norfolk, passed away on July 26, 2002.
Mr. Morris was born in Nevada, TX. He served in the U.S. Navy for 22 years, including World War II. After retiring, he became a real estate broker. Mr. Morris was a member of Fairmount Park Methodist Church for over 30 years. He will always be remembered for his positive attitude, enthusiasm for life, passion for traveling, kindness to others, and his loving devotion to his family. He was an avid dancer and spent much of his time with the Thalia Thumpers Dance Group, the 60 Plus Club of Ocean View, and at the Norfolk Senior Center.
Funeral services for Mr. Morris were held on Monday, July 29, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at Smith and Williams Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Pat Holden officiating. Interment was held in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Surviving relatives include: his wife, Marjorie Elizabeth Morris; three children, William Albert Morris, Mary Catherine Peyton, and Mary Elizabeth Oliver; two grandchildren; one brother, Howard Morris, Nocona, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.
