Henry Grady York
Henry Grady York, 90, of Nocona, TX passed away on July 5, 2002 in Nocona General Hospital.
Mr. York was born on May 7, 1912 in Teague, TX to Jessie and Pearl Rhineberger York. He married Hazel Miller York on July 2, 1936 in Kamay, TX. Mr. York retired from the Nocona Police Department. He also worked in the oilfield and as a security guard at Nocona Hills. He was a lifetime member of the Texas Sheriff Association. He was of the Baptist faith.
Graveside services for Mr. York were held on Sunday, July 7, 2002 at 3:00 p.m. at Nocona Cemetery. Scott-Morris Funeral Home directed the services.
Surviving relatives include: two daughters, Margaret Hauger, Nocona, TX and Mildred "Millie" Moenning, Electra, TX; one son, Ray York, Nocona, TX; one sister-in-law, Vernie Moenning, Electra, TX; one brother, Doug York, Overton, TX; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; many nephews; a niece; and one special nephew, Weldon York, of Chandler, TX, who always took the time to call and come see his Uncle Grady. He was preceded in death by his wife Hazel in 1995 and one son, DeWayne York in 2000.
Fay Coker
Fay Coker, 83, of Sunset, TX passed away on July 20, 2002 in Bowie, TX.
Mrs. Coker was born on June 14, 1919 in Cumby, TX. She worked for T. I. Electronics and retired from STL Electronics of Dallas, TX after 25 years of service. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Sunset, TX.
Funeral services for Mrs. Coker were held on Tuesday, July 23, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Sunset, TX with Dr. Ray Vowell officiating. Graveside services will be at 3:00 p.m. at Little Elm Cemetery in Little Elm, TX under the direction of Fry Funeral Home of Bowie.
Surviving relatives include: one son, Charles Jones, Sunset, TX; one daughter, Elizabeth Haddock, Charlotte, NC; five grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Gary Jones; two brothers, Elvis and Ivan Litchfield;and one sister, Mary Jo White.
Pallbearers included: D.J. Rater, Brian Reeves, Chuck Jones, Steve Campbell, Jim Rodgers, Jeff Melton, and Neil McCauley.
Lou Emma Henderson
Lou Emma Henderson, 94, of Bowie, TX passed away on July 20, 2002.
Ms. Henderson was born on June 28, 1908 in Yakama, WA. She was a longtime resident of Bellevue, TX and moved to Bowie eight years ago. She was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Women’s Army Corps. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bellevue, TX.
Graveside services for Ms. Henderson were held on Tuesday, July 23, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at Joy Cemetery in Joy, TX with Rev. Josh Deerinwater officiating. Services were directed by Fry Funeral Home of Bowie.
Surviving relatives include: one brother, Eugene Henderson, Cleburne, TX and numerous nieces and nephews.
Caroline Martha Line (Streng) Schilling
Caroline Martha Lina (Streng) Schilling, 91, of Muenster, TX passed away on August 23, 2002.
Mrs. Schilling was born on May 29, 1912 in Muenster, TX to Henry and Emma (Nehib) Streng. She married Frank Schilling on April 17, 1939 owned and operated a dairy for over 35 years. She was a member of Sacred Heart Parish and a member of Saint Annes Society and the VFW Auxiliary. Mrs. Schilling was a hard working, family loving person who especially enjoyed the visits of her grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial was held on August 26th at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Muenster, TX with the Rev. John Ohner, O.S.A. officiating. Interment was at Sacred Heart Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home, Muenster, TX.
Surviving relatives include: four daughters, Virgilla Herr and Charlotte Dangelmayr both of Muenster, TX and Deborah Walterscheid and Doris Lynn Sandmann, both of Lindsay, TX; two sons, F.E. Schilling, Jr. and Duwayne Schilling, both of Muenster; two sisters, Evelyn McDaniel of Huntsville, TX and Marie DeBloise of Irving, TX; 23 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Mrs. Schilling was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Frank Schilling on April 29, 1999; five brothers, Joe, Paul, Bill, Ed and Johnny and one grandson, John Dangelmayr.
Pallbearers were Charlie Schilling, Lisa Schilling, Kyle Sandmann, Darrell Herr, Shawn Dangelmayr and Allison Walterscheid.
Lindon Ira Carr
Lindon Ira Carr, 76, of Pilot Point, TX passed away on August 23, 2002 in Pilot Point Care Center.
Mr. Carr was born on August 13, 1926 in Hubbard, TX to Ira Lindon and Hester VanDyke Carr. He married Sara Jo Parkinson on December 3, 1948 in Stephenville, TX and was manager for Brazos Electric in Waco, TX for 42 years. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp during WWII and was a member of the Church of Christ.
Funeral services for Mr. Carr were on August 25, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at the Huff/Slay Chapel with the Rev. John Theisen officiating. Interment was in Pilot Point Community Cemetery under the direction of Huff/Slay Funeral Home in Pilot Point, TX.
Surviving relatives include: one son, Lindon Ira Carr, Jr. of Pilot Point, TX; two daughters, Paula Lyn Whitley and Pamela Jo Pedigo both of Pilot Point; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sara, on May 30, 1994.
Pallbearers were Ron Sanders, Chade Cole, Jake Pedigo, Trae Carr, Brian Kennedy and Scott Parkinson.
Robert Arthur Baird
Robert Arthur Baird, 64, of Coppell, TX passed away on August 20, 2002 in a Dallas, TX nursing home.
Mr. Baird was born on Sept. 9, 1937 in Portsmouth, NH to Grey and Margaret Buckley Baird. He was a graduate of the University of New Hampshire and was a Tax Analyst for Chevron-Texaco for 38 years. He received Direct Commission while serving in Korea and was of the Catholic faith.
Mass of Christian burial was on August 22, 2002 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, in Nocona, TX with Father Aidan O’Donovan officiating. Interment was in Nocona Cemetery under the direction of Jerry Woods Funeral Home, Nocona, TX.
Surviving relatives include: one daughter, Mrs. Katherine Baird, of San Francisco, CA; and two sisters, Patricia Noble of Fort Pierce, FL and Janice Daring of Shapleigh, Maine.
Pallbearers were Mike Storey, Ronnie Davis, Tim O’Sullivan, James Buxton, Caddy McCall and Michael Halsted.
Bertha Ann Walterscheid Hacker
Bertha Ann Waltherscheid Hacker, 90, of Muenster, TX passed away on August 22, 2002 in Saint Richards Villa, Muenster, TX.
Mrs. Hacker was born on March 20, 1912 in Muenster, TX to John Walterscheid and Catherine Haverkemp Walterscheid. She married John Morris Hacker on January 10, 1939 in Sacred Heart Church in Muenster, TX. She was homemaker and a member of St. Anne’s Society and Sacred Heart Church. Mrs. Hacker loved quilting and gardening.
Funeral Services were on August 24, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Church with the Rev. John Ohner officiating. Interment was in Sacred Heart Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home of Muenster, TX.
Surviving relatives include: three daughters, JoAnn Pelzel and Joyce Strittmatter both of Pilot Point, TX and Shirley Wilson of Gainesville, TX; one son, Maurus Hacker of Myra, TX; and one sister, Dorothy Mae Yosten of Muenster, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Helen Muller; one infant son, Giles Hacker; one grandchild, Melinda Pelzel; two sisters, Angeline Eckart and Sr. Thomasina Walterscheid, OSB; five brothers, Alfonse, Andy, Norbert, Raymond and Henry Waltersheid; and four infant brothers and sisters.
Pallbearers were her grandsons, Michael Hacker, Maurus Hacker, Jr.; Jeff Wilson, Dale Muller, Steven Strittmatter and Brian Strittmatter.
