Charley Lee York, 84, of Nocona, TX passed away on September 26, 2002 at Nocona General Hospital.
Mr. York was born on September 19, 1918 in Blue, OK to Jack and Maude Goggins York. He was a retired maintenance worker for Air National Guard and a member of the Baptist faith.
Funeral services for Mr. York were held on Monday, September 30, 2002 at 2 p.m. at Scott-Morris Chapel. Interment was held in South Lawn Cemetery in Tuscon, AR.
Surviving relatives include: three children, Sandra L. Pierce, Nocona, TX, Mary Louise Cox, Marana, Arizona, and Charley T. York, Tucson, Arizona; one brother, Jack York, Saint David, Arizona; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Mr. Eldon "Tuffy" Eugene Marshall
Eldon "Tuffy" Eugene Marshall, 74, of Bowie, TX passed away on September 26, 2002 at his residence.
Mr. Marshall was born on March 8, 1928 in Robert Lee, Coke County, Texas to Charles Elxander and Viola Faye Ellis Marshall. He was a retired truck driver. Mr. Marshall served in the Army during WWII; was a member of the Nocona VFW and DAV; and was of the Baptist faith.
Funeral services for Mr. Marshall were held on Friday, September 27, 2002 at 2 p.m. at Scott-Morris Chapel. Interment was held in Roaring Springs Cemetery in Roaring Springs, TX on Saturday, September 28, 2002 at 4 p.m.
Surviving relatives include: one son, Eldon Eugene Marshall, Jr., Nocona, TX; one daughter, Virdie "Vicky" McClain, Sanger, TX; two sisters, Myrtle Bowen, Hillsboro, OR and Maryann Durham, Slater, MO; one brother, Miller Davis Marshall, Spur, TX; and three grandchildren, Brittany Richardson-Marshall and Shelby Marshall, both of Nocona, TX and Brian McClain, Sanger, TX.
"Tina" Celestine Durham
Mrs. "Tina" Celestine Durham, 86, of Nocona, TX passed away on September 25, 2002 at Nocona General Hospital.
Mrs. Durham was born on February 12, 1916 in Orr, OK to Henry Melvin and Vergie Mae Downey Howard. She married "Bill" William Andrew Blair. Mrs. Durham was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
Funeral services for Mrs. Durham were held on Saturday, September 28, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at Saint Jo Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Ricky Kerr officiating. Interment was held in Bourland Cemetery in Belleville, OK under the direction of Scott-Morris Funeral Home.
Surviving relatives include: one son, Henry Blair, Saint Jo, TX. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1970.
Andrew "Andy" Ervin
Andrew "Andy" Ervin, 75, of Bowie, TX passed away on September 22, 2002 in Hospice of Wichita Falls, TX.
Mr. Ervin was born on September 23, 1926 in Elida, NM. He married Imogene Knode. He was a member of Bowie Masonic Lodge #578 AF & AM; 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason; Shriner at the Maskat Temple of Wichita Falls; member of Eastern Star Chapter 16 of Bowie; and was a member of Bowie VFW Reddy McClellan Post #8789. Mr. Ervin served in the Navy during WWI and retired from Amoco Oil, then worked for and retired as manager of Koch Oil after 20 years.
Funeral services for Mr. Ervin was held Wednesday, September 25, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church with Dr. Ronnie Lawson officiating. Interment was held in Elmwood Cemetery under the direction of Fry Funeral Home.
Surviving relatives include: one daughter, Mrs. Pat Earp, Bowie, TX; three grandsons, Brett Wells, Brandon Earp and Bradley Earp, all of Bowie, TX; three great-grandchildren; one brother, C. W. Ervin, Carlsbad, NM; and one sister, Mrs. Nell Rowe, Henderson, TX. He was preceded in death by his wife, Imogene Knode, in 1998.
Pallbearers included: Johnnie Hogue, Dallas Hutson, Scott Jordan, Allen Leek, Arlee Phagan, and Elmo Brewer. Masonic rites were by Leon Farmer.
Monti Preston Smith
Monti Preston Smith, 49, of Montague, TX passed away on September 24, 2002 at United Health Care Systems in Wichita Falls, TX.
Mr. Smith was born on August 6, 1953 in Oakland, CA to Luther Jewel and Neoma Whitecottom Smith. He married Zarcy Reeves Smith. He was an auto detailer and did paint and body work.
Funeral services for Mrs. Smith were held on Friday, September 27, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. at Scott-Morris Chapel. Interment was held in Montague Cemetery.
Surviving relatives include: his wife, Zarcy Smith, Montague, TX; one son, Jason Reeves Wood, Montague, TX; one daughter, Jessica Smith, Montague, TX; two sisters, Darla Belt, Nocona, TX and Tina Kouten, Concord, CA; and two brothers, Tracy Smith, Nocona Hills, TX and Randi Smith, Bowie, TX. He was preceded in death by one sister, Lydia Whitecotton and father, Luther Smith.
Pallbearers included: Trenton Pickett, Gerald "Jerry" Robertson, Lloyd Elliston "The Cable Guy", Phillip Bray, Clay "The Car Guy", and "Crazy" Ray Glenn. Honorary pallbearers included Carl Durham.
Wesley Morgan Godbey
Wesley Morgan Godbey, 50, of Asher, OK passed away on September 27, 2002.
Mr. Godbey was born on May 27, 1952 in Bonham, TX to Billy Morgan and Floy Bell Blake Godbey. He was a construction superintendent and of the Baptist faith. He was a wonderful artist and a writer and he loved his children.
Funeral services for Mr. Godbey were held on Monday, September 30, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. at Scott-Morris Chapel with Rev. Scott Moore and Rev. Luke Orley officiating. Interment was held in Molsbee Chapel Cemetery.
Surviving relatives include: his mother, Floy Bell Godbey, Nocona, TX; one son, Joshua Godbey, Norman, OK; one daughter, Emily Godbey, Hazelhurst, MS; one sister, Susie Dick, Sherman, TX; and one brother, Sam Godbey, Fort Worth, TX. Mr. Godbey was preceded in death by his grandparents, Grant and Birtha Godbey and John and Rose Blake; also by his father, Billy Godbey and his brother, Lesley Godbey.
R. N. Richardson
R. N. Richardson, 73, of Bowie, TX passed away on September 28, 2002.
Mr. Richardson was born on March 21, 1929 in Paradise, Texas. He worked for Bell Helicopter many years, then worked as a carpenter. He was a WWII veteran serving in the Navy.
There will be no services held.

Roy Truman Weed
Roy Truman Weed, 74, of Montague, TX passed away on September 29, 2002 in United Regional Health Care facility.
Mr. Weed was born on June 22, 1928 in Lubbock, TX to Nile and Lilly Hollingsworth Weed. He served in the Marines from 1945-51. He worked in the cotton gin in maintenance, a grocery store, a service station in Saint Jo, many years in the oilfield, Montague Co. Precinct 4 and for the City of Saint Jo. Mr. Weed was a charter member of the New Hope Baptist Church of Bowie, TX.
Funeral services for Mr. Weed were held on Wednesday, October 2, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church in Bowie, TX with Rev. Dwayne Lamberson officiating. Interment was held in Mountain Park Cemetery in Saint Jo, TX under the direction of Scott-Morris Funeral Home.
Surviving relatives include: two daughters, Gail Boggess and Debbie Weed, both of Saint Jo, TX; one son, Roy "Sonny" Weed, Jr., Saint Jo, TX; two sisters, Norma Eling, WI and Carolyn Sue, Fort Worth, TX; two brothers, Kenneth Weed, Longview, TX and Donald Weed, San Antonio, TX; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one special friend, Peggy Mann, Saint Jo, TX
