Jimmy Don Freeman
Jimmy Don Freeman, 68, went to be with the Lord on October 18, 2002.
Mr. Freeman was born on September 21, 1934 in Forestburg, TX to William Blake and Velma Fleeta Williams Freeman. He graduated from Forestburg High School and received a Bachelor of Science Degree from North Texas State University in 1961. Mr. Freeman also later earned two Masters Degrees from NTSU. He married Joyce Sewell on August 26, 1961 in Nocona, TX. A week later, he began his lifelong career in education as a teacher at Forestburg High School in 1961 and next taught at Saint Jo High School. In 1965, he became the Business Manager at the Gainesville State School and was later named the Superintendent at the Giddings State School. In 1974, he returned to Saint Jo as the High School Principal and the next year was named the Superintendent of the Saint Jo Schools, a position he held until his retirement in 1990. After retirement he worked for a time as a District Representative for State Senator Steve Carriker and worked as a representative to the Montague and Clay County Schools for the Denton Teachers Credit Union.
He was an avid sports fan and never missed the State Boys Basketball Tournament and rarely missed the daily visit to the Dairy Queen in Saint Jo to drink coffee and swap stories with the regulars. He was happy that his beloved baseball Giants was finally in the World Series again. And most of all he considered himself so blessed to be loved and adored by his grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Freeman were held on Monday, October 21, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at the Church of Christ in Saint Jo with Rev. C.E. Cole and Chester Cullum officiating. Interment was held in Nocona Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home of Saint Jo, TX.
Surviving relatives include: his wife, Joyce Freeman, Saint Jo, TX; two daughters, June Carter, Paris, TX, her husband John Carter and their three children, and Jamie Hampton, Plano, TX, her husband John Hampton and daughter; one foster daughter, Nancy Price, Muenster, TX and her two children and one grandchild; one sister, Linda Foster, Graham, TX; three brothers, Harold Freeman, Austin, TX, Leon Freeman, La Mirada, CA, and Guy Gates of Torrance, CA; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Freeman was preceded in death by his parents.
Pallbearers included: William Redman, Tommie Sappington, Arnold Dennis, D.J. Rader, Tom Riddle and Royce Wayne Miller.

Vivian McIntyre Smith
Vivian McIntyre Smith, 55, of Grand Prairie, TX passed away on October 29, 2002 in Hospice of Wichita Falls, TX.
Mrs. Smith was born on January 12, 1947 to Lewis and "Honey" Addie Fae Gray Sailsbury. She married Beauford Smith and was a homemaker.
Funeral services for Mrs. Smith were held on Friday, November 1, 2002 at Scott-Morris Chapel with Rev. Walter Haynie officiating. Interment was held in Starkey Cemetery.
Surviving relatives include: her husband, Buck Smith, Nocona, TX; four children, Gary Don Barker and Bruce Conway McIntyre, both of Arlington, TX, Anglea Fae Jackson, Fort Worth, TX, and Allen Rae Plexco, Abilene, TX; three stepchildren, Barbara Prindle, Granbury, TX, Elise Parker, Walnut Springs, TX, and Tom Smith, Lake Worth, TX; one sister, Nadine Sailsbury, Irving, TX; two brothers, Melvin and Duane Sailsbury, both of Grand Prairie, TX; five grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers included: her family members.

Maurice Bounds Lillard
Maurice Bounds Lillard, 89, of Bowie, TX passed away on October 30, 2002 at Bowie Nursing Center.
Mrs. Lillard was born on October 19, 1913 in Weatherford, TX. She was a homemaker and a member of the North Fort Worth Baptist Church in Fort Worth, TX. She was a resident of Fort Worth, TX before moving to Bowie, Texas three years ago.
Graveside services for Mrs. Lillard were held on Saturday, November 2, 2002 at 3:00 p.m. at Tage Cemetery with Rev. Clyde Markee officiating. Services were directed by Fry Funeral Home of Bowie.
Surviving relatives include: one son, Charles Lillard, Bowie, TX; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, O.D. Bounds, Jr., Fort Worth, TX and Frank Bounds, Los Angeles; and one sister, Inez Berndt, Fort Worth, TX.

Lois Howard Marsh
Lois Howard Marsh, 39 and holding, passed away on November 4, 2002 in Nocona Nursing Home.
Mrs. Marsh was born on July 22, 1913 in Ochiltree County, TX to Joe and Cora Keck Hancock. She married Gordon (Son) Howard and Vane Marsh. She was in retail sales and was a beautician. She was a member of Nocona Chapter #62 O.E.S., Past Worthy Matron and was a Baptist.
Funeral services for Mrs. Marsh were held on Wednesday, November 6, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church with Rev. Jack McBride and Rev. Bryan Parks officiating. Interment was held in Nocona Cemetery under the direction of Jerry Woods Funeral Home.
Surviving relatives include: two sons, Sam Howard, Graham, TX and Toby Howard, Nocona, TX; one daughter, Jo Beth Shaffer, Enid, OK; one step-daughter, Georgia Faver, Nocona, TX; one sister, Sue Brown, Whitesboro, TX; one brother, Tommy Lewis Hancock, Nocona, TX; six granchildren; and two great-greandchildren. Mrs. Marsh was preceded in death by her first husband, Gordon Howard in 1958; her second husband, Vane Marsh, in 1971; and one grandson, Paul Howard.
Pallbearers included: Jon Howard, Geoff Shaffer, Brent Shaffer, Joe Tom Hancock, Joe Hunter Brown, and John Wayne Hancock. Honorary pallbearers included: Travis Murphey, Jack Murphey, Brian Sanders, Lucas Sanders, Joe David Sanders, and Billy Jack Hancock.

Barbara Bell
Barbara Bell, 61, of Bowie, TX passed away on November 3, 2002 at Bowie Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Bell was born on September 8, 1941 in Bowie, TX. She married R.E. "Bob" Bell on December 9, 1977 at Sequin, TX. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church in Bowie, TX.
Funeral services for Mrs. Bell were held on Tuesday, November 5, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at First Free Will Baptist Church with Dr. Larry Cox officiating. Interment was held in Elmwood Cemetery under the direction of Fry Funeral Home.
Surviving relatives include: her husband, R.E. "Bob" Bell, Bowie, TX; five daughters, Pamela Shaw and Angie Mayfield, both of Bowie, TX, Linda Weatherford, Austin, TX, Debbie Brady, Moore, OK, and Diane Hanson, Ringgold, TX; four sons, Windol and Wesley Robbins, both of Bowie, TX and Ronnie and Darrell Bell, both of Bowie, TX; nineteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jerry Wade, Bowie, TX and Clinton Wade, Saginaw, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Bell was preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Minnie Belle Wade; and one son, Roy Glenn Bell on August 29, 1988.
Pallbearers included: R.L. Heugatter, Roy Darden, Greg Robertson, W.C. Gilbert, Bruce Bell and Jack Lawson.

Fannie Bell McLain
Fannie Bell McLain, 77, of Bowie, TX passed away on October 31, 2002 at Denton Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. McLain was born on July 4, 1925 in Sunset, TX. She married A.G. McLain in Krum, TX on July 15, 1940. She was the owner of the Sweet Shoppe in Bowie for the past 23 years.
Funeral services for Mrs. McLain were held on Monday, November 4, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at Towne North Baptist Church in Denton, TX with Rev. Bruce Chamberlain officiating. Interment was held in Roselawn Memorial Park in Denton, TX under the direction of Fry Funeral Home.
Surviving relatives include: two sons, Adrian McLain, Carrollton, TX and Elvin McLain, Bowie, TX; one daughter, LaFonda Hunt, Krum, TX; one daughter-in-law, Linda McLain, Denton, TX; one sister, Viola Green, Denton, TX; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Mrs. McLain was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Dennis McLain; and one grandson, Donald McLain.

Leon Woodruff
Leon Woodruff, 81, of Bowie, TX passed away on November 1, 2002 in Bowie Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Woodruff was born on January 27, 1921 in Bellevue, TX. He married Mary Helen Nix in 1946 at Terral, OK. He was a maintenance man and a member of the Carter Lake Road Church of Christ Church in Bowie, TX. Mr. Woodruff was also a army veteran.
Funeral services for Mr. Woodruff were held on Tuesday, November 5, 2002 at 10 a.m. at Fry Funeral Home Chapel with David Hall officiating. Interment was held in Vashti Cemetery.
Surviving relatives include: one cousin, Mrs. Inez Greer, Bowie, TX; numerous other cousins; and special friends, Willard Huckabay and Lee and Pat Harrington, all of Bowie, TX. Mr. Woodruff was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Inez Woodruff on February 14, 1997.
Pallbearers included: Cody Wadsworth, Gary Hatchtel, Eric Dow, John Gossett, Lee Harrington and Jon Page.

Chris Hodges
Chris Hodges, 52, of Bellevue, TX passed away on October 30, 2002 in Hospice of Wichita Falls, TX.
Mr. Hodges was born on June 9, 1950 in Bowie, TX. He was a rancher and a member of the Bellevue United Methodist Church in Bellevue, TX. He married Nora Zarate on June 30, 1978 at Denton, TX.
Funeral services for Mr. Hodges were held Sunday, November 3, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at Bellevue United Methodist Church with Rev. Louis Ray Sleeth and Rev. Tommy John Mayo officiating. Interment was held in Bellevue Cemetery under the direction of Fry Funeral Home.
Surviving relatives include: his wife, Nora Hodges, Bellevue, TX; one daughter, Ryann Christian Hodges, Bellevue, TX; one son, Barrett Daniel Hodges, Bellevue, TX; his father, W. O. Hodges, Bowie, TX; one brother, William L. Hodges, Casle Rock, CO; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers included: Victor Sandonato, Jeff Broussard, Tom Flinn, John Gossett, Charles Tyson and Gary Enkowitz. Honorary pallbearers included: Harry Flinn, Donald Biehl, Marvin Tyson, Robert Ratliff and James Broussard.

Caroline Renee Ensey
Renee Ensey, 50, of Bowie, TX passed away on November 11, 2002 in Bowie Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Ensey was born on March 10, 1952 in Bowie, TX to Marvin and Dorothy Laird. She lived all her life in Bowie except for four years when her husband was employed in Saudi Arabia. She married Kenneth Ensey on November 26, 1974 in Bowie, TX. She had worked at Haggar Slacks Manufacturing but for the last few years she had been a dietitian at Bellmire Healthcare Facilities. Mrs. Ensey was a member of the Bible Baptist Church for about 40 years.
Funeral services for Mrs. Ensey were held on Thursday, November14, 2002 at Bible Baptist Church with Rev. Don Haney officiating and assisted by Bro. Jim Taylor from Tyler, TX. Interment was held in Elmwood Cemetery under the direction of Fry Funeral Home.
Surviving relatives include: her huband, Ken Ensey, Bowie, TX; two sons, Daron Williams, Bowie, TX and Gary Ensey and his wife, Laura, Wichita Falls, TX; her mother, Dorothy Morton; one sister, Mary Mann; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harold and Jennie Ensey; two sister-in-laws, Karen King, Bowie, TX and Kathy Tyson, Bellevue, TX. Mrs. Ensey was preceded in death by her father, Marvin Laird, Bowie, TX; her sister and niece, Donna and Tammie Kennedy, Nocona, TX.
